What to do if I've locked myself in a book! - Chapter 50
What was going on?
Had she gone back again—to the moment right after she finished showering?
The feeling of being touched and fucked by Ji Shi still lingered over her body. In disbelief, she walked into the living room. Bai Yiyan, as if unaware of anything, turned back from the sofa and smiled at her.
“I picked out a few movies you might like. Come choose one. We can watch it together.”
“Ah… okay…”
When she stepped forward, her body was still sore. The sensation was just like what happened before at BLUEBERRY. Even though time had rolled back to before it happened, the traces of what she had experienced hadn’t disappeared. They remained, as if they were already established facts.
Rumble—
Thunder rolled outside the window. The heavy rain showed no sign of stopping.
A sense of unease rose in her chest.
She felt that both the world inside the book and the real world were becoming unstable.
Distracted, she walked over and sat beside the sofa. Her emotions were still caught in the aftermath of Ji Shi’s disappearance. Bai Yiyan naturally pulled her into his arms. The projection screen in front of them still showed the movie library he had chosen.
Everything felt real—yet unreal.
He picked up a towel nearby and gently dried her hair, asking with concern, “Why do you suddenly look so troubled?”
“A-Yan…”
She hesitated. Looking into his clear eyes and gentle smile, she couldn’t help reaching out to touch his face, studying him carefully and feeling his presence.
It was clearly a fake world. So why did everything feel so real?
Seeing her stare at him in a daze, Bai Yiyan took her hand and kissed her palm. “You can learn to rely on me, Qianqian.”
“…I’m fine. I’m just a bit hungry. Let’s watch this one.” She reflexively pulled her hand back and tried to focus on the late-night snacks on the table.
“Alright. Whatever you like.”
Bai Yiyan understood her tastes well. The movies and snacks he prepared suited her perfectly.
The movie began to play. He picked up some cold salad and fed it to her. She watched the flickering screen with little appetite, a lingering fear creeping in.
She didn’t know when she had started getting used to everything around her—so much that she had fully immersed herself in it.
At that moment, a long-absent prompt appeared before her eyes again:
【Tomorrow night at eight, go to work at BLUE Bar.】
Seeing those glowing, hologram-like words again finally pulled her thoughts back.
For now, the only way to trace the source of these “prompts” was to follow them step by step.
Still, having to see that man again made her uneasy.
According to the information from Ji Shi and Bai Yiyan, the owner of BLUE was Cheng Ye’s younger brother, Cheng Zhan, while the owner of BLUEBERRY was Silver.
Silver wore his hair in a short ponytail and had no earrings. Cheng Zhan did. It wasn’t hard to tell them apart—especially since the way they smiled and their auras were subtly different.
She had already learned that lesson.
The man that night was Silver. The man she saw when she woke up the next morning was Cheng Zhan.
A numb sensation ran across her scalp. No wonder he had asked how she ended up in his bed.
Cheng Zhan barely appeared in the book. He was only mentioned once—that all of the Cheng family’s assets eventually ended up under his control. Because of that, she had always had a bad impression of him, assuming he must be ruthless and cruel. After what happened in his bed, she was even more certain.
—
The next night at eight, she arrived at BLUE Bar on time.
Before going in, she deliberately looked up at the sign to make sure the lettered lightbox really said “BLUE,” then stepped inside.
Before leaving, she had told Bai Yiyan that she was going to work at BLUE. She didn’t really want him to know she was working at a bar, but if something happened again, she needed someone reliable to know where to find her.
Inside BLUE, everything was exactly the same as that night—the decor, the smell of alcohol mixed with strong air freshener, even the bartender’s face. It was no different from BLUEBERRY.
She expected the bartender to recognize her and lead her inside like before, but he clearly didn’t.
“Miss, what would you like to order?”
“Hello, I’m here to—”
“Ling Qianqian, right?”
Before she could finish, a lazy, magnetic male voice sounded behind her. Cheng Zhan had already appeared in front of her.
He leaned casually against the bar. His slightly wavy brown hair fell over his sharp brows, and the black stud earring in his ear glinted coldly under the dim lights.
Despite his sexy, charming face, she always felt that when he smiled, he was plotting something bad. It made her uneasy.
He openly extended his hand and smiled at her. “Nice to meet you. I’m the owner here, Cheng Zhan.”
As if it were their first meeting, he acted as though the incident in bed never happened, perfectly calm and polite.
She really didn’t want to shake his hand—especially when she remembered being fucked awake that morning. Her whole body went numb just thinking about it.
“Boss Cheng, hello. I’m here to work.”
She didn’t reach out. He didn’t seem awkward either. He casually slipped his hand back into his pocket and pointed toward a row of VIP rooms.
“If you have no questions about the job, how about you start right away?”
“I just want to confirm something…”
She repeated what Silver had told her about the job at BLUEBERRY. Partly to test him, partly to confirm whether the interview process had been mysteriously skipped.
“That’s right. Seems you understand your job well. I like smart people. Zhang Rui, take Ling Qianqian to her station and show her around.”
“Yes, boss.”
Bartender Zhang Rui led her toward the VIP area.
Watching her walk away, Cheng Zhan narrowed his eyes thoughtfully and popped a blueberry into his mouth.
That morning, the job agency had bluntly informed him that Ling Qianqian would start working at his bar at eight tonight, along with her duties and pay. He had found it strange.
Especially after confirming that this Ling Qianqian was the woman he had seen countless times on the surveillance footage—it truly surprised him.
His brief probing just now had failed completely. She showed up ready to work, with no questions and no interest in learning about the bar at all. She didn’t act like a normal job seeker. That alone was the biggest problem.
But no one dared offend the agency. They weren’t a simple employment service. They were a key tool used by powerful people to control the city’s undercurrents.
Placing someone in BLUE made sense.
But why Ling Qianqian?
