What to do if I've locked myself in a book! - Chapter 16
—
At a little past one in the afternoon the next day, warm sunlight had spread across the entire bedroom.
Ling Qianqian opened her sleepy eyes and woke up in Cheng Ye’s bed. She rubbed her eyes and lazily ruffled her long hair. When she sat up, her whole body felt like it was falling apart—so sore she could barely straighten her back.
The thin gray fleece blanket slid down her body, and her full, perky breasts were suddenly freed. Startled, she reflexively grabbed the blanket and pulled it up to cover herself.
The room was empty. The air still carried the man’s distinctive juniper scent, along with an unseen trace of his warmth.
What had happened with Cheng Ye the night before replayed vividly in her mind—too real, yet dreamlike. Even after the long night had passed, she still hadn’t returned to reality.
How she wished she would wake up to find herself back in that tiny twenty-square-meter studio apartment.
How could she go back?
Wrapped in the blanket, troubled thoughts swirling in her mind, she got out of bed and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling window. Outside was an unfamiliar view. Each building looked no different from those in the real world when seen alone, yet together they felt completely foreign.
Just then, Cheng Ye’s figure appeared downstairs. He was walking in, carrying many shopping bags.
After a while, she heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Then the bedroom door opened.
When she turned her head, she met the tall man’s handsome silhouette.
His hands were empty. His deep gaze lightly swept over the woman’s exposed, beautiful back and slid down to her half-hidden, lifted hips. He said nothing.
Blushing, she tugged the blanket higher, focusing only on covering her chest, while a large stretch of spring scenery was left exposed behind her, extremely alluring.
The daytime sunlight outlined her graceful, captivating figure. The way she looked back over her shoulder was like a painting—beautiful and moving.
Cheng Ye took off his suit jacket and strode toward her with long steps. Before she could react, he reached her, scooped her up sideways together with the blanket, and lifted her into his arms.
“Hey, what are you doing… put me down…”
She struggled in panic and looked up at his sharply defined jaw. His cold, expressionless face showed nothing. He glanced down at her, ignored her protest, and walked out of the room toward an open door at the end of the hallway.
Only after entering did he put her down.
The room looked like a walk-in closet, but the cabinets were empty. The floor was piled with shopping bags of all sizes—the same ones she had seen him carrying earlier.
“I wasn’t sure about your size, so I bought different sizes and styles.”
“What is this for?”
Ling Qianqian stared at the dresses, lingerie, shoes, bags, and even jewelry inside the bags, completely stunned.
Was this man planning to keep her here?
He opened one of the bags, took out a high-quality ash-gray sweater dress, and handed it to her. “Try it. It should suit you.”
“Thank you, but I hope you don’t misunderstand.”
“I’m not misunderstanding. Last night, you insisted on coming to my place, drugged me, secretly climbed into my bed, took off my pants, and used—”
“Ah, stop…”
She interrupted him in embarrassment, tightening her grip on the blanket and awkwardly turning her gaze away.
Thinking back on everything she had done the night before made her want to dig a hole and hide. If she hadn’t been forced to follow those strange prompts, she would never have done something like that.
“About last night—I’m sorry… I had my reasons. But afterward, you didn’t exactly go easy on me either. Let’s call it even, okay?”
