What Should I Do If My Ex-Girlfriend's Pheromones Smell Too Good? - Chapter 67
Chapter 67: Farce
Shu Mufeng’s hand trembled; it had been empty for some time. Splashed across the floor around his feet were pools of wine and jagged shards of glass—a total mess. The intoxicating aroma of the wine lingered in the air, but his floaty, drunken satisfaction vanished in an instant.
Shu Qiong offered a moment of sincere-sounding regret: “Grandfather, why did your hand shake? Be careful not to let the glass shards cut you.”
She hadn’t even tasted what “Red Agate” was like yet. It was a bit of a pity.
Shu Mufeng snapped back to his senses. Looking at this granddaughter—who warned him to be careful while already having retreated to a safe distance—he felt a sharp pang in his chest.
Several servants hurried over to clean up the wreckage, but Shu Mufeng didn’t let them move. He stared fixedly at the Omega who had come to crash the party, his face contorted with immense rage.
“Who allowed him in?” Shu Mufeng glared at the two security guards at the door. “Get him out of here, now!”
The security personnel hesitated: “But he has an invitation…”
Shu Mufeng swept his gaze over the guests, who wore various expressions of amusement. He felt as though everyone was mocking him. He barked: “This isn’t a place where any stray cat or dog can walk in! To crash a party and cause trouble—do you not see where you are? This person clearly intends to ruin Xuanhe’s reputation. The Shu family has not reached the point where we can be bullied by just anyone!”
The guards had no choice but to step forward, making a gesture to grab the man.
However, a low shout cut through the air: “Who dares?!”
Shu Qiong followed the sound and noticed that Xiao Chen had returned to stand behind Shu Xuanmin and CEO Wang. She was watching with an expression of one enjoying a good show as the latter rushed toward the pregnant Omega. Sensing the gaze, Xiao Chen looked up toward the balcony, but quickly withdrew her eyes to continue following Shu Xuanmin closely.
CEO Wang stepped forward quickly, grabbing his eldest son’s arm. “Didn’t you say you were going on a trip to clear your head? Why are you here?”
The eldest Wang son’s eyes were bloodshot and brimming with tears, but he ignored his father’s question. He stared deathly at Shu Xuanhe, who was watching coldly from above. “We clearly knew and loved each other long ago. Why did you go and seduce someone else?!”
What?
Everyone’s ears perked up, their expressions shifting.
He looked at Shu Xuanhe, accusing him without regard for decorum: “Three years ago, you promised me that if I convinced my father to sign the big contract with the Shu family, you would marry me! And the result? The result is you rolling into bed with my younger brother in front of everyone! Are you even human?!”
The hall fell into a dead silence. Shu Xuanhe’s face turned from red to white. “Xiao Yue, don’t talk nonsense. When did I ever say such a thing?”
Shu Xuanmin added fuel to the fire, “persuading” the elder Wang: “Is there some misunderstanding? My brother… he’s a bit reckless normally, but he’s not a bad person…”
The elder Wang son shoved Shu Xuanmin’s hand away with such force that she nearly fell. Whether she actually lost her balance or was faking it, Shu Xuanmin staggered for two steps before Xiao Chen caught her. Her face still wore a mask of sincere concern. Xiao Chen, however, looked at the Wang father and sons with total displeasure, her face dark.
Shu Qiong, looking down on the farce, took on the role of the “good cop”: “Mr. Wang, if you’re going to extort the Shu family, you need evidence, right? Otherwise, my grandfather won’t let this go easily. Grandfather, wouldn’t you agree?”
Shu Mufeng gave Shu Qiong an extremely complicated look. He felt a suffocating pressure in his chest and had no desire to answer her. He doted on Shu Xuanhe, but he wasn’t blind; one look at his grandson’s face told him that most of the accusations were likely true.
However, he couldn’t ignore Shu Qiong’s “well-intentioned” words for the family’s sake. Shu Mufeng suppressed his guilt and said sternly: “Making a scene like this is bad for everyone. CEO Wang, shall we move to the study?”
He wanted to communicate in private.
Shu Qiong wasn’t surprised. She looked at the Wang father and sons, wondering what they were thinking.
Old CEO Wang was completely stunned. He had never expected his eldest son to pull a stunt like this. He had only learned a few months ago that both of his sons were involved with that playboy from the Shu family, and that the eldest was unexpectedly pregnant. In a fit of rage, the CEO’s attempt to communicate with Shu Xuanhe failed. He had ordered his eldest son to be sent away—whether for an abortion or to give birth—to clear his head, and to stop any unseemly trysts with Shu Xuanhe.
Things like this can happen once or twice, but not three times. Where would the Wang family’s “face” go?
Who knew his eldest son was so headstrong? He had agreed readily enough, saying he was heartbroken and going on a trip, but he never left. Instead, he had crashed the banquet to question the scumbag in public!
Were the men he sent to watch over him all useless?
Old CEO Wang shielded his son with one arm, hissing through gritted teeth: “Stop talking for now.”
But the elder Wang son was relentless. He clutched his protruding belly and suddenly sat down on the floor. “Shu Xuanhe, you coward, you’re hiding? You want evidence? Fine.”
With that, he opened his wristband’s light screen and broadcasted their private chat records. “I want everyone to see your disgusting face.”
“Xiao Yue!” Shu Xuanhe’s expression darkened. He had hurried downstairs at some point and grabbed the man’s wrist, forcing the screen to go black. “What do you actually want?”
Shu Mufeng clutched his chest, so angry he wanted to sit down too, but the floor was covered in glass shards. He could only stand there, swaying and barely holding on. At that moment, he heard a clicking sound from beside him. He turned to see Shu Qiong with her camera open, using the zoom to look at the chat records on the other man’s screen.
“…What are you doing!” Shu Mufeng’s angry voice rang out.
Shu Qiong didn’t even turn her head, making up a lie on the spot: “I’m verifying if the chat logs he’s showing are fake.” After saying that, she continued focusing on deciphering the messages.
Shu Xuanhe had moved too fast and closed the screen too quickly; she hadn’t seen it all. She only caught some nauseating sweet-talk and one line: “Baby, let me take you to get an abortion. Our love doesn’t need a third life to prove it.”
Such a scumbag.
Shu Qiong closed her camera in disgust.
The elder Wang son looked determined: “An abortion is impossible. I’m not asking you to marry me anymore; I’ll raise this child myself… I just want to ask you one thing.”
Shu Xuanhe’s face was livid. “Watch the occasion.”
The elder Wang son said, word by word: “When my second brother was sleeping with you, did he know about the relationship between you and me?”
SLAM!
The ill-fated doors were crashed open for the third time today. A thin male Beta rushed in. He ran into the hall like a gust of wind, and before anyone could react—SLAP—he landed a strike right on Shu Xuanhe’s face.
The sound was so crisp that everyone present was stunned.
“No wonder you said your favorite thing about me was that I’m a Beta. So that’s what it meant!” The younger Wang brother was furious, his hand shaking after the slap. “You were just relieved you couldn’t get me pregnant!”
Having said that, he looked at the person on the floor, trying to help him up, crying with grief and regret: “Big Brother…”
SLAP. Another slap.
The elder Wang son shook his numbed hand and said coldly: “You’re not a good person either.”
He and Shu Xuanhe were childhood friends; their mutual friends had long suspected something between them, and there were plenty of rumors in their circle. Who would believe the younger brother truly knew nothing about them?
If one were to ask what can most whet an audience’s appetite, it is definitely a “dog blood” melodrama. If one were to ask what has the most stability, it’s definitely a love triangle… no, it’s a triangle.
The three people on the floor seemed to be in a stalemate. The elder brother clutched his stomach, his face pale—whether from anger or weakness. The younger brother clutched his face, looking shocked and innocent, occasionally casting complicated glances at Shu Xuanhe.
Shu Xuanhe felt like none of this was real; he was in a state of massive confusion. He had kept so many lovers and “stepped on multiple boats” so often it wasn’t even a surprise—he didn’t know how the boat had capsized so badly this time.
Suddenly, he thought of something. He snapped his head up to look at Shu Xuanmin a few meters away, hissing through gritted teeth: “Was it you?!”
Shu Xuanmin faced away from the guests, looking into his eyes without expression, though her tone sounded very flustered: “I… I was only following Grandfather’s orders to invite CEO Wang…”
Shu Xuanhe’s face became distorted. When he was upstairs, he had clearly seen through the window that the elder Wang son had been delivered by the woman standing behind Shu Xuanmin!
“Oh dear!” Shu Xuanmin suddenly pointed to the floor with genuine-sounding concern. “Is Mr. Wang feeling unwell? Quick, get him to the hospital!”
Shu Xuanhe looked back quickly. Sure enough, the elder Wang son was frowning deeply, cold sweat pouring down his face, one hand clutching his stomach and the other gripping his clothes, his expression agonizing.
“Call an ambulance!”
“Big Brother!”
“Wait, an ambulance won’t be fast enough. Just drive him to the nearest hospital!”
“…What a mess.”
The scene was pure chaos. Shu Qiong watched as Old CEO Wang and the younger Wang brother scrambled with servants to lift the pregnant man into a levitating car. Shu Xuanmin and Shu Xuanhe remained standing opposite each other, locked in a silent confrontation.
A moment later, Shu Xuanmin sneered, no longer hiding it: “Brother, your lover is about to give birth. Are you sure you’re not going to see? Oh, right. I haven’t said congratulations to you, the father-to-be. How rude of me.”
The veins on the back of Shu Xuanhe’s hand bulged. He suddenly took a step forward. Xiao Chen wordlessly shielded Shu Xuanmin, but someone was faster.
Shu Qiong, from above, cried out in a loud voice: “Brother! Sister! Grandfather fainted! Come quickly!”
The timing of the shout was perfect, and her tone sounded appropriately urgent and sorrowful. Yet, Shu Qiong just stood where she was, calling for help without making any move to actually assist.
Shu Xuanmin looked up, speechless. Shu Xuanhe, his face dark, shoved past his sister’s shoulder and strode upstairs.
Shu Mufeng had fainted—whether from a fit of rage or a recurring illness. His face was a ghastly blue-white. The butler was performing emergency first aid, pulling medicine from his pocket and stuffing it into the old man’s mouth.
The scene became even more chaotic. Just as the levitating car carrying the elder Wang son was about to start, a clear, high-pitched voice shouted.
“Wait! There’s another patient here who needs to go to the hospital!” Shu Qiong called out from the window.
The crowd then scrambled to shove the slightly revived Shu Mufeng into the car as well. Shu Qiong shamelessly squeezed in too, saying she was very worried about her grandfather and had to follow along to be at peace.
“Fine… move fast!” The people in the car were stunned by her undisguised expression of schadenfreude.
Shu Qiong trotted downstairs, only to collide with someone at a corner. Just as she was about to apologize, her nose caught a familiar scent, and her body instinctively relaxed.
Yan Xiangyu held her by the shoulders and draped her own jacket over her. “The wind is cold outside.”
Shu Qiong was stunned. She looked up at Yan Xiangyu’s expression. The latter’s face was shrouded in shadow as she adjusted the coat. She lightly pinched Shu Qiong’s cheek and made her look down: “Change your shoes.”
“Oh.” Shu Qiong obeyed, quickly kicking off her stilettos and slipping into the flats Yan Xiangyu had somehow produced.
Yan Xiangyu picked up the discarded heels and moved out of the way. “Go on.”
Shu Qiong looked at her for a second, then suddenly leaned in and bit her lower lip without warning. “I’ve wanted to kiss you for a long time.”
Feeling refreshed after the kiss, Shu Qiong didn’t stay a second longer, fleeing outside with a spring in her step.
