- Chapter 9 - Teaching You How to Kiss
Inside the dim room, a flicker of light from outside filtered through the patterned window glass, transforming into colorful speckles that bloomed across Su Feng’s ink-black hair. On the bed, Murphy was similarly shrouded by his own dark tresses. The scene froze the moment Su Feng leaned down to kiss Murphy, turning the sight into a masterpiece fit for a painter’s canvas.
Su Feng’s heart hammered like thunder, and his palms were slick with sweat. He hardly dared to bend over. His mindset was much like a high schooler who had done something wrong: sneaking back into his own room and looking left and right despite no one noticing, unable to find peace.
The sensation on his lips was cool and soft. Su Feng merely pressed his lips against Murphy’s in a light kiss, remaining stiffly in place without any other skin contact. Humans are quick to adapt to their environment, however; once the initial rush of adrenaline passed, Su Feng gradually found a justification. By treating this as a “matter-of-business” procedure, he finally managed to stay somewhat calm.
He looked at the face before him. At such close range, Murphy’s features remained exquisite and flawless, like a statue. For a fleeting moment, Su Feng suddenly felt that this face was actually quite handsome.
[Acquired Intimacy Value: 23.] The System’s voice gave Su Feng a start. He asked, “Why so little?”
[It is not little,] the System’s voice carried a hint of a smile. [You only gave him a secret peck, and the male lead did not respond. If you stay pressed here for another half hour, it could rise to three digits.]
How could that work? What if someone comes and sees? Su Feng felt as though he had fallen into a giant pit. He glanced around to ensure they were alone, then leaned down and gave Murphy two more audible kisses. After finishing, he said, “Is that enough? Is this still not working?”
Su Feng’s lips were pale with a faint reddish tint. His face was peerlessly handsome, yet the corners of his eyes were narrow and beautiful, reflecting a pair of passionate blue eyes. The vivid cobalt hue often brought to mind the rising tides of the deep sea. When those eyes shimmered with a layer of moisture, the stern aura Su Feng usually projected softened, allowing his gaze to radiate a brilliance that surpassed even the finest jewels.
At this moment, Su Feng frowned slightly in displeasure, his lips pressed tightly together, which ironically made them appear a deeper shade of red.
The System was silent for a moment. It said: [Not enough.]
[Do you not know how to kiss?] the System added. [Kissing requires using the tongue.]
The handsome noble fell silent as a knot slowly formed between his brows. Su Feng said, “System, sometimes I really doubt your motives.”
[?]
Su Feng: “Are you sure you are not some third-rate pimping system? Where did you even come from?”
The System replied: [I am simply doing my best to serve my host.]
Su Feng: “Including teaching me how to kiss the male lead?”
The System: [Happy to be of service.]
Su Feng did not argue further. Choosing to cut the Gordian knot, the man leaned down. Only the subtle, ambiguous sounds of contact filled the room, but nothing more.
Due to his lack of experience, Su Feng even bumped into Murphy’s nose. He wiped his mouth until his lips were the color of a blooming rose, then he clutched his mouth tightly and strode away.
With the corners of his eyes slightly flushed and the edge of his cloak fluttering violently behind him, Su Feng hurried back to his study. After rinsing his mouth, he reflected with hindsight: “If I had not drugged him and had chosen another method, what would have happened?”
Or, if he had been caught red-handed by Murphy while sneaking a kiss, what would have happened then? Just thinking about it made Su Feng feel a deep, internal sense of embarrassment. It was truly humiliating!
After Su Feng returned to the camp, he threw a massive tantrum and ordered Murphy to be thrown into the dungeons of Blackthorn City, only to “hold his nose” and fish him out again for unknown reasons. This was because they had signed a Master-Servant Contract, and more importantly, he needed the Intimacy Value from the male lead.
However, Su Feng still found Murphy an eyesore. Murphy was well aware of this, so for a period of time, he appeared exceptionally submissive and gentle. He expressed that he would definitely break the contract later and told Su Feng it was not his original intention. In short, the relationship between the two was abysmal; they were like fire and water.
This continued until Murphy caught the arrogant young noble sneaking into his room at night to lean down and kiss him.
When Murphy opened his eyes, he caught the scene perfectly. Su Feng’s lips were soft with a hint of warmth. In an instant, Murphy saw those cobalt-blue eyes. Su Feng was leaning down, kissing him reluctantly; when caught, he was momentarily at a loss, not knowing how to explain or what to say.
Murphy did not speak. He simply entangled his lips with Su Feng’s. Under the moonlight, a flush crept onto that handsome face. Su Feng’s brows were tightly knit, his daily persona completely shattered. After a moment, Su Feng calmed down and prepared to push Murphy away, but Murphy flipped over, pinning him down to look at his face from a closer distance.
He saw the blankness in Su Feng’s eyes, like a good student caught doing something bad. Moreover, this young master did not even know how to use his tongue while kissing him.
“How can you not even know how to kiss?” Murphy blinked his purple eyes. He smiled as he held Su Feng down, whispering to him: “I will teach you.”
“This is not what you think,” Su Feng said. “I did not do this on purpose, you…”
A finger was pressed against his lips, and thus all explanations were suppressed by the Master-Servant Contract. Murphy continued to smile tenderly: “Since you came to kiss me, why did you not just tell me?”
“I signed a contract with you. For a small matter like this, I can certainly help you.”
After Murphy spoke, Su Feng tried to kick him off, but Murphy held him down firmly. Inside the room, the beautiful “beast” pinned down its flustered prey. After a soft “shh,” he slowly leaned down to capture those pale lips. Given the size difference between them, Su Feng’s figure was completely blocked; one could only see a pair of hands, calloused from years of swordplay, struggling incessantly.
How annoying.
Amidst the chaos, Su Feng’s breath was filled by the other’s long tongue. He struggled like a fish out of water, his breathing ragged and his body covered in sweat. That beautiful face in front of him looked truly irritating. It made one want to stomp right on it.
The next morning, all was well; it was as if nothing had happened.
Murphy brushed his teeth twice. It felt as though something was lingering on his lips, causing him to rub them repeatedly. Murphy rubbed his fingers together and suddenly noticed a bouquet of flowers blooming nearby. They were pale red, the petals tender and curled, looking fresh and stained with the morning light. Watching this, Murphy suddenly reached out and forcefully crushed a flower bud. For some reason, the fleeting temperature on his fingertips was actually somewhat warm, staining his fingers a light shade of red.
Su Feng was looking at his hard-earned Intimacy Value with a look of relief. He decided to calculate the daily consumption of Intimacy Value to prevent future awkwardness. If he did not want to turn into a pervert sneaking into Murphy’s room every day, obtaining enough Intimacy Value within a single day was crucial. He was earnestly calculating the amounts in his notebook.
When Murphy entered the room carrying breakfast, he saw the young master frowning, scribbling something with a quill while muttering to himself: “So, only five minutes is enough?”
Hearing this, Murphy’s gaze swept over Su Feng’s handsome face and slightly pursed lips. His eyes flickered as if he had noticed nothing, and he knocked on the door, saying, “Good morning, Lord Su Feng.”
Su Feng looked up at him and nodded. Before others, he was always like this: distant and stern, maintaining a faint sense of separation from everyone.
Since there was no plot development where the relationship changed drastically overnight, Su Feng satisfiedly put away his stationery and asked Murphy, “Do you remember anything from before you arrived at the camp?”
With a brief thought, Murphy understood why Su Feng was asking. He stepped slightly to the side, his long black hair cascading down, and asked from behind Su Feng’s chair: “Are you planning to track the Dark Mage and find his Mage Tower?”
Su Feng said, “He is a very cunning bastard.” He sneered. “That guy caused chaos in Blackthorn City and finally showed his tail yesterday. I want his life.”
“Since he came looking for you, you should have information about him,” Su Feng continued. “I need you to lead the way.”
Murphy said, “I do not remember how I escaped from his tower. Unfortunately, I cannot help you.”
Su Feng looked into his eyes. The “Dragon-Avoider” male lead’s gaze was clear and sincere.
Su Feng asked, “What else can you remember?” Seeing Murphy’s act of total ignorance, Su Feng felt speechless. Are not male leads supposed to be reckless, head-strong types who fear no danger? Why does this guy look so cautious and intent on self-preservation? He could only say: “Personal valet, you should protect your master.”
Murphy replied, “As a mid-level mage, all I can do is use my life to defend your safety. It is just a pity that the Life Contract binds our lives together. If something happens to me and it affects you, it would leave me in agony and unbearable pain.”
After Murphy finished speaking with a smile, Su Feng fell silent. He looked as if he were laughing from sheer anger and said, “Are you going or not?”
“I am not going.”
Su Feng truly wanted to make him disappear. However, the Master-Servant Contract did not suddenly lower Murphy’s IQ or turn him into a dog willing to die for Su Feng overnight. He did not fear the risk; he simply felt there was no reason, for it was not worth it.
Su Feng said, “In my library, there seems to be a Mid-level Grimoire suitable for a mid-level mage.”
Murphy spoke up: “I just suddenly remembered that this Spirit-Contracting Dark Mage is naturally cunning. He built a two-layered tower, an inner and an outer. If an ordinary person enters, they will lose their way and fail to find his hiding spot.”
In the original novel, it only stated that Murphy accidentally found Crane’s weakness, killed him using that method, and took the Soul-Snatching Secret Manual from the tower. It never mentioned this detail at all!
Su Feng looked deeply at Murphy and said, “Now you remember?”
“To protect your safety, My Lord, I am willing to follow behind you and guide the way,” Murphy added. His purple eyes looked extremely sincere, making one instinctively want to trust him. Su Feng said, “Fine, let us do it.”
Su Feng did not take many people. He only had Murphy follow him as they rode demonic horses toward Crane’s Mage Tower. He knew the danger of a Spirit-Contracting Dark Mage; Crane could temporarily control others through the inheritance of a Soul-Snatcher. Once Murphy obtained the Soul-Snatching Secret Manual, the male lead, who already possessed soul-snatching power, would essentially have a “cheat code,” allowing him to secretly control a group of servants to do his bidding.
This was the first “buff” Murphy encountered that was so perfectly suited for him. To some extent, the reason a Spirit-Contracting Dark Mage appeared in a peripheral small city was specifically to serve as an “experience pack” for the male lead. But that was the original book; this was the real world Su Feng lived in. Su Feng could not let Murphy obtain that inheritance.
Inside the tower, Crane heard the sound of hoofbeats outside. Blood surged from his throat. He took a potion from a shelf and downed the scalding, bloody liquid in one gulp. He tapped his staff, and a surge of contracted spirits he controlled rushed out, only to be shattered by a long whip lashing through the air.
Su Feng was relentless, closing in step by step. Crane’s injuries had not even healed yet. Originally, he should have had a perfect vessel to allow him to escape this frail body, but now everything was ending.
A flash of struggle crossed the man’s eyes. He took out a dusty crystal ball and struck it with force until the long-unused communication device finally flickered to life. Every crystal ball symbolized a connection between mages; they communicated through the Mana Net by leaving their marks or via exclusive crystals. This particular device had been sealed away by Crane for ten years.
The crystal ball emitted a dim light. The person on the other end seemed to have no intention of answering, but Crane knew he would. Amidst the approaching footsteps, Crane’s brow furrowed and veins popped on his forehead. Damn it, how did they find this place? There is no time!
The crystal ball finally lit up. A pair of fair hands held it. A dark mage appeared amidst a black mist, with a crowd of people kneeling behind him. The man’s face was blurred as he cut into the flesh on his plate with a knife and fork. He said, “For so many years, you said you would create your greatest masterpiece. But now it seems you are still my most foolish student.”
Seeing him, Crane said desperately, “Master, save me!”
Before his voice could fade, a long whip swept through the air. Su Feng kicked the door open and lashed out fiercely at the crystal ball in Crane’s hand. Shards flew everywhere as the device shattered. Crane and Su Feng locked eyes, and then Crane saw Murphy standing behind him. Murphy was smiling and his eyes were bright. In the darkness, the “beautiful beast” leaned down slightly and whispered into the young noble’s ear: “He wants to escape.”
“He will not escape!” Su Feng said coldly. As his long blade drew near, the spirits blocking the way were cleaved apart. Crane’s pale face appeared before him. The man closed his eyes, and as Su Feng’s blade swung upward, a head flew off and thudded onto the ground.
Far away, in a Mage Tower in another city, the dark mage frowned slightly. He tapped the crystal ball before him gloomily, calling Crane’s name: “Idiot, are you listening?”
Su Feng sheathed his long blade and looked at the corpse. He remained frowning, pacing through the tower filled with dark magic runes as if searching for something. Murphy followed him, looking at the dead Crane. He suddenly reached out, picked up the head, examined it for a moment, and then dug out the only remaining intact eye.
When Crane had tortured him and the other prisoners before, he would always say: “Your eyes are very beautiful.” Murphy stared at the eyeball in his hand for a while, then boredly tossed it onto the ground and crushed it flat with his foot.
At that moment, a piercing scream echoed through the tower. Su Feng rushed over and saw a confined experimental subject. The person had silver hair and appeared to be a citizen of Blackthorn City. Now, they were screaming while clutching their bleeding eye socket, speaking to Su Feng with gloom and hatred: “How… how did you find out?”
Crane knew he might die one day, so he had been searching for a suitable vessel. The only link left with his main body was his right eye. If Su Feng had not destroyed his body, he could have achieved reincarnation in a few moments.
Su Feng turned around to see Murphy slowly retracting his leg, looking at him with an innocent face. Su Feng’s cheek twitched. He drew his blade and walked toward Crane’s remains. After dealing with the Dark Mage once and for all, Su Feng breathed a sigh of relief, but he still could not find the Soul-Snatching Secret Manual inheritance.
Where is it? Su Feng thought, his gaze landing on Murphy. The man looked at him like a large dog that had done something wrong, quickly hiding the head behind his back. After Murphy stared at him for a while, he noticed something on a bookshelf. He pulled it out randomly and looked down.
It was exactly the Soul-Snatching Secret Manual that Crane had hidden.
