What Bad Intentions Could the Heroine Have? [GL] - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
“Feng Zhi, did you read the Classic of Poetry this morning for nothing?” Xin Yi’an’s expression turned a bit cold.
Feng Zhi’s expression flickered with awkwardness. “Ahem, A-Chun’s girlfriend is here today, let’s not talk about that. I have a meeting gift here. Little Mu, please accept it.”
Mu Xingyu stepped forward a couple of paces and took the box from Feng Zhi’s hands.
It was an extremely exquisite carved wooden box; one could tell at a glance that whatever was inside must be very valuable.
Seeing Feng Zhi produce this box, Xin Yi’an’s expression softened considerably. She said, “At least you’ve done one proper thing today.”
Feng Zhi breathed a quiet sigh of relief. He said, “A-Chun likes Little Mu, so as her father, I naturally have to show my support. By the way, when should we meet your parents?”
“Huh?” Mu Xingyu snapped her head up.
Wasn’t this pace a bit too fast? After meeting the parents, surely they wouldn’t start talking about wedding arrangements next? She and Feng Chichun were only in a contract relationship; if nothing else, Feng Chichun ought to be quite troubled by this.
Mu Xingyu glanced in Feng Chichun’s direction, but she failed to see even a hint of a troubled expression on Feng Chichun’s face.
Feng Chichun noticed Mu Xingyu looking at her and even gave her a small smile.
Mu Xingyu’s ears heated up, and she immediately averted her eyes. Wait, no, now is not the time to be shy.
“Meeting… actually, my father has already passed away. My mother is back in our hometown, but she suffers from severe motion sickness and can’t travel long distances.”
This wasn’t something Mu Xingyu made up; her father really had passed away early on, and her mother truly did get motion sickness—vomiting every single time she took a ride.
Xin Yi’an shot Feng Zhi a sharp look, and Feng Zhi immediately said, “I’m sorry, I misspoke.”
Mu Xingyu said, “It’s alright, it happened a long time ago.”
Xin Yi’an looked at Mu Xingyu with eyes full of pity and affection. “It must have been hard for your mother to raise you alone, right? Did you suffer any grievances when you were little?”
Mu Xingyu shook her head. “No, I felt my classmates were all quite kind to me.”
Although Mu Xingyu was beautiful, her personality was easygoing. She was actually quite popular at school and would receive a pile of gifts every holiday.
Xin Yi’an patted the back of Mu Xingyu’s hand and sighed. “How could you not have suffered any grievances? You poor child, it makes my heart ache. Chichun, did you know about this?”
The relaxed and cozy look on Feng Chichun’s face had vanished. She replied, “I only found out today as well.”
Xin Yi’an’s brows shot up. “How can you be so unobservant toward your own girlfriend?”
Mu Xingyu said quickly, “Don’t blame Chichun, it’s because I never brought it up myself.”
Xin Yi’an said, “Xingyu, don’t spoil her. She has the same temperament as her father—looking like she’s considerate on the outside, but actually being a bit dim-witted. You’ll find out in the future.”
Mu Xingyu vaguely thought she saw a flash of pity in Xin Yi’an’s eyes; she blinked and looked again, but then felt she must have been mistaken.
Due to Mu Xingyu’s family situation, the matter of both sets of parents meeting was temporarily put aside.
At noon, Mu Xingyu had lunch at the Feng residence. It was a meal she found very comfortable, not just because of the food, but because of the atmosphere. The Feng family members interacted very casually, which made one feel relaxed.
After lunch, Mu Xingyu followed Feng Chichun for a tour of the Feng home. She had to admit the Feng residence was truly massive, and the design everywhere was full of clever details—beautiful without sacrificing practicality for the sake of aesthetics.
The scenery in the Feng garden was lovely. As they walked, they eventually reached the vicinity of the lotus pond.
Suddenly, Feng Chichun said, “My parents really like you, which is why they mentioned wanting to meet your parents.”
Mu Xingyu said, “Mm, I know. Actually, you don’t have to worry about me; I’m really fine. After all, my dad has been gone for over ten years; I’ve almost forgotten what he looked like.”
“Mm.”
“By the way, regarding the gift your dad gave me and the necklace you gave me last time, I’ll return them to you later.”
Mu Xingyu really did love money, but she knew what she should and shouldn’t take. She didn’t dare accept items that were too valuable with a clear conscience.
Feng Chichun thought for a moment and then said, “Just consider them on deposit with you for now. We can talk about it after the contract ends, so as to avoid slipping up in the meantime.”
Mu Xingyu felt that Feng Chichun’s words made sense. She nodded and accepted the suggestion.
Mu Xingyu stayed at the Feng residence for dinner, and afterward, Feng Chichun drove her home.
As she was getting out of the car, Mu Xingyu asked, “Chichun, do we have any plans for tomorrow? Like a dat— I mean, eating together or something?”
Feng Chichun said, “I took today off, so a lot of work has piled up. I probably won’t have time to eat with you tomorrow.”
“Oh, okay.” There was a faint trace of disappointment in Mu Xingyu’s tone.
“The day after tomorrow. I should have plenty of time the day after tomorrow.”
Mu Xingyu said, “Mm, then I’m going up. Bye-bye.”
Feng Chichun waved at Mu Xingyu.
Mu Xingyu walked quickly because she was afraid that if she went any slower, she wouldn’t be able to resist looking back at Feng Chichun.
She seemed to have really fallen for Feng Chichun. Because she liked her, she wanted to spend more time with her; missing her even after a day of not seeing her.
Back home, Mu Xingyu checked her schedule. She had no photography work tomorrow or the day after, and no dates to accompany Feng Chichun on either.
Mu Xingyu suddenly remembered the hand-woven bracelet kit she had bought online a few days ago. She quickly went to dig through her packages.
When Feng Chichun gave her the little figurine, she had thought about giving a gift in return. With nothing to do all day tomorrow, she could make the bracelet.
The name of this bracelet was “Stay Together, Never Part.” It featured an interlocking design, symbolizing a couple never separating and being each other’s companions.
The materials weren’t expensive, but it was a hassle to make—it was mainly about the sentiment.
As for why she chose this, Mu Xingyu actually had a bit of her own selfish motive. If Feng Chichun asked, she could just say it was part of the “dating schedule.”
That night, Mu Xingyu impatiently followed a tutorial video. The result was, of course—
A failure.
Fortunately, Mu Xingyu had anticipated this possibility and had bought more than one set of materials.
The next morning, she ate a quick bite and continued weaving the bracelet. She had to admit, this bracelet was truly difficult to weave; it made her eyes go blurry and her fingers ache.
However, Mu Xingyu’s hard work paid off. The bracelet was just one step away from being finished. She let out a long breath, thinking she could finally rest.
Mu Xingyu had been weaving while watching the tutorial, pausing the video while she worked. So, when she saw the teacher in the video pull out a lighter, she was dumbfounded.
What? Weaving a bracelet actually requires a lighter?
Mu Xingyu had no choice but to temporarily put down the nearly finished bracelet, grab her backpack, and head out to buy a lighter.
Once outside, she realized it was already dark. She hadn’t expected that weaving a bracelet would take up an entire day.
As night fell, City A was lit up with various colored lights, and many pedestrians were coming and going on the streets. Mu Xingyu found a convenience store, and after paying, she put the lighter in her bag.
Having skipped dinner, Mu Xingyu planned to eat at a nearby restaurant. As she passed through a small alley, several slightly chaotic footsteps suddenly echoed behind her.
A bad premonition rose in Mu Xingyu’s heart. No way? The author wouldn’t really write it like this, would they?
“Don’t move! This— This is a kidnapping!”
