What Bad Intentions Could a Spoiled Little Brat Possibly have? - Chapter 40.2
The junior senior nodded thoughtfully, his gaze turning toward the ashen-faced Lu Jia with a bit of sympathy and curiosity: “So, back to the point who was it that ultimately killed Cheng Huai’s resume? Senior Lu, you handled the initial screening. Do you have any internal info?”
Lu Jia’s heart shook, unable to find peace for a long time. He said with a deathly pale face: “It was… it was me.” He also hadn’t expected that Cheng Huai could actually submit an answer sheet that exceeded everyone’s expectations; even he himself had been somewhat conquered by Cheng Huai.
“Ah? It really was you!” someone blurted out, then patted Lu Jia on the shoulder, their tone half-joking and half-serious. “Then you really have to be careful in the future. Looking at today’s display, the relationship between Cheng Huai and Senior Fu Zheng is probably not something ‘unusual’ can describe.”
Just then, a girl who had been quietly listening whispered a sentence: “I… why do I feel like the way they were just now wasn’t like brothers, but more like… a young couple having a petty quarrel? That kind of aura is very strange…”
“Impossible!”
This sentence drew three categorical denials at the same time.
Lu Jia, Zhu Manni, and Mo Qing all turned their heads simultaneously, their eyes looking sharply at the girl who spoke, the warning in their tones identical.
Zhu Manni’s reaction was particularly intense. It was as if she had heard something extremely absurd and filthy, her voice suddenly spiking: “Do you know what kind of nonsense you are talking?! Both of them are boys! Clearly and unmistakably boys!! Between a boy and another boy, how could it… how could it be that kind of relationship!!”
“What’s so impossible about it? What era is it now? Plenty of people have come out; it’s not some rare thing. When it comes to feelings, who can say for sure?” The “sole survivor” junior senior waved his hand dismissively and picked up his backpack to leave alone.
“Let go! Let go of me!”
Cheng Huai’s breathing was rapid, his chest heaving due to the intense struggle. He used almost all his strength, intending to break free from Fu Zheng’s grip.
However, before his resistance could form an effective escape, Fu Zheng’s arm suddenly exerted force, pulling him back.
With a whirl of the world, Cheng Huai was seized by an irresistible force. His nose bumped into a firm, warm chest, his wrists were pinned behind his back, and he was completely trapped between Fu Zheng’s embrace and his body.
“Fu Zheng! You—” Cheng Huai was both shocked and angry, twisting even more desperately.
Although there weren’t many pedestrians on the road from the lab building to the parking lot, the occasional glances cast his way still made him feel like there was nowhere to hide, as if every gaze was scrutinizing his wretched state.
Shame and indignation swept through his body like a fire. Cheng Huai hated this feeling of being controlled in public.
“What did you call me?” Fu Zheng’s face was covered in dark clouds, and the strength pinning Cheng Huai’s wrists suddenly tightened.
“Brother, Brother, let go of me.” Cheng Huai struggled and pleaded for mercy.
The struggle was entirely futile.
Fu Zheng half-embraced and half-carried him, his steps steady as he walked straight toward that familiar black sedan.
After the soft click of the car door unlocking, Cheng Huai was unceremoniously stuffed into the passenger seat. Just as he tried to resist and get up, Fu Zheng had already leaned over. The seatbelt was clicked shut decisively, locking him firmly in the seat.
Following that, the car door was slammed shut with a heavy “thud,” isolating them from the outside world.
Cheng Huai immediately went to pull the handle on the inside of the door, but it wouldn’t budge.
Fu Zheng seemed to have anticipated his move; before getting into the car, he had locked the central control. Cheng Huai could only be trapped in the seat, staring through the car window with fury at the figure rounding toward the driver’s side, his eyes practically spitting fire.
Fu Zheng quickly sat in the driver’s seat. He had just closed the door and hadn’t even had time to sit fully steady when Cheng Huai’s fists and feet landed like raindrops.
“Let me out!”
Cheng Huai leaned forward as much as the limited restraint of the seatbelt allowed. His swung fists hit Fu Zheng’s shoulders and arms, and his legs kicked wildly. One foot went straight for Fu Zheng’s chest.
Fu Zheng’s reactions were extremely fast. He turned his body to avoid vital areas, reached out with a large hand, and accurately grabbed the kicking ankle, pinning that thin ankle bone firmly in his palm. He scolded in a low voice: “Stop messing around!”
“How many times do I have to say it before you understand?!” With his ankle held, Cheng Huai’s voice cracked due to extreme anger and grievance. “I’m not ‘messing around’ with you! Why is it always whatever you say goes?! I’m just having a normal meal with a friend how exactly is that bothering you?! Why are you so arbitrary?! So dictatorial?! Weren’t you the one who said you wanted to move out and create distance? Fine! Then don’t care about me! If you’re so capable, then don’t care at all! What exactly is this supposed to be now?!”
Fu Zheng endured his hits with patience. Hearing the rapid-fire accusations, his brow locked tighter and tighter.
“You can’t eat spicy food. You break out in red rashes from just a little. Don’t you know that yourself?” He stated in a deep voice, trying to use facts to suppress the other’s emotions. “Also, when did I ever say I wouldn’t care about you?”
“You’re already moving out, yet you still care if I can eat spicy food!”
This sentence accurately choked Fu Zheng, making his chest feel stifled and leaving him momentarily speechless. He pressed his thin lips together, pressed Cheng Huai’s still-struggling leg against his own thigh, and coldly stepped on the gas to turn the steering wheel. The engine gave a low roar, and the car pulled out of the parking space.
Fu Zheng issued a final ultimatum: “I can follow your lead on other things, but today, you must eat on time, eat healthy things, and come to my place.”
Cheng Huai was dizzy with rage at this matter-of-fact arrangement. He deliberately bent his knee and kicked the inner side of Fu Zheng’s thigh hard with his sole.
“You’ve never followed my lead on anything else either!” He pulled back his leg and sat heavily back against the seat with his arms crossed.
He couldn’t win against Fu Zheng not just because of the difference in body size, but also the disparity in strength. In front of Fu Zheng, he was completely like a powerless little “action figure” that could be stuffed into a pocket and taken wherever Fu Zheng wanted.
Cheng Huai gave up struggling. He turned his face and stared fixedly at the scenery flying past outside the window. He didn’t say a single word to Fu Zheng the whole way.
Fu Zheng brought him to the company. On the desk in the CEO’s office, several light and palatable home-cooked dishes and warm porridge were already laid out, clearly prepared in advance upon his instructions.
The process of eating was silent and oppressive.
Fu Zheng sat across from him, not moving his chopsticks much, spending most of his time just watching him.
Initially, Cheng Huai stubbornly refused to eat, but Fu Zheng didn’t rush him either, just waiting quietly. That gaze carried more pressure than words.
After a long stalemate, the traitorous growl of his stomach and the actual onset of hunger eventually made Cheng Huai admit defeat. He picked up the chopsticks, mechanically poking at the food. After eating half a plate of vegetables and forcing down half a bowl of porridge, he refused to move another inch no matter what.
Seeing that he had indeed eaten some, Fu Zheng stopped forcing him. He stood up and cleared the dishes.
It really was just for the sake of watching him eat a meal. After eating, Fu Zheng had no extra words and no intention of staying; he directly picked up the car keys and sent the wooden-faced Cheng Huai back to school.
The car stopped steadily downstairs at the dormitory. Cheng Huai immediately unbuckled his seatbelt and reached for the door.
Fu Zheng turned, looking at the back of the head of the person who was still fuming, and said: “Wait for me in the classroom after your afternoon classes. I’ll come pick you up.”
Cheng Huai’s movement to pull the door paused. He suddenly turned back to glare at him: “How do you know I have class in the afternoon?”
As soon as Cheng Huai asked, he realized that since Fu Zheng managed the lab, obtaining the schedule of an associated student was something he could do with ease. He immediately said indignantly: “No need for you to pick me up. I have other arrangements tonight. I’m busy!”
Having said that, he didn’t give Fu Zheng any chance for a response or follow-up question. He forcefully pushed open the car door and rushed into the dormitory building without looking back.
The thumping sound of hurried and decisive footsteps quickly disappeared around the corner of the stairs, leaving only Fu Zheng sitting alone in the car, gazing in the direction where Cheng Huai had vanished for a long time without leaving.
