Wanxi Rebirth - Chapter 92
The combat skills and reaction speed of the fake Yin Guang were, in Yue Tingxi’s current eyes, not particularly threatening. Their battle seemed “evenly matched,” but that was merely due to observation, testing, and intentionally holding back.
Before arriving here, she had already been informed that every mission tool was likely a surveillance eye of the Mainframe. Excessive contact could allow it to predict countermeasures.
Now that she had ascended to divinity, if she acted outside the Mainframe’s expectations, she could not unleash her trump-level power and could only rely on her lifetime sword skills to block attacks.
She did not stop Qin Suoliu because she understood her anger needed to vent.
The private chamber of fake Yin Guang was unusually spacious, giving the demonized Qin Suoliu ample room to maneuver. Nine fox tails brimming with spiritual power aimed like sharp spikes at fake Yin Guang’s vital points.
The tails moved swiftly, but fake Yin Guang seemed to anticipate their paths in advance. Whether dodging or blocking, her positioning was flawless.
[She’s calculating Qin Suoliu’s attack trajectory at high speed!]
7364 System warned.
[Although not a system, her thought patterns have likely been implanted with system functions. At this rate, Qin Suoliu will be exhausted… I must assist!]
Yue Tingxi understood immediately.
Just as an Out-of-Body practitioner differs greatly from a Tribulation-level one, and a Tribulation-level differs even more from a deity, Qin Suliu’s deficit compared to fake Yin Guang lay in “calculation” ability.
If so, they would enhance this aspect first.
“No need, I’ll assist; you keep observing.” After communicating with 7364, Yue Tingxi activated her soul contract in her consciousness.
A mission operative’s calculation ability naturally could not match a deity. Yue Tingxi merely predicted developments one moment in advance; a fox tail pierced fake Yin Guang’s Dantian.
However, fake Yin Guang did not lose mobility. Her hand, at a bizarre angle, struck herself, separating her torso below the Dantian!
This reaction exceeded the expectations of Yue Tingxi and Qin Suliu, and 7364 System reacted first.
The gray moth fluttered its wings, scattering silver-gray light, and a barrier immediately shielded the nine-tailed fox, blocking the dazzling red light bursting from the self-inflicted cut!
Though Yue Tingxi’s barrier was built a moment later than 7364’s, she still protected Qin Suoliu with her law-based power. Even if slightly delayed, Qin Suoliu remained unharmed.
[…The Mainframe likely has mastery over the World Consciousness “Isolation” spell; otherwise, scanning would have revealed it wasn’t human.] Scanning fake Yin Guang’s silver-white cut, 7364’s voice became serious. [It must be a combat robot. You can treat it as a high-level puppet.]
With 7364’s explanation, the two halves of fake Yin Guang’s body rejoined autonomously, and the “fatal wound” caused by the fox tail healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
“Are there other robots nearby?!” Lin Fengqing asked urgently.
[Scanning… none detected yet.] 7364 replied. [If the Mainframe wants to disperse forces, each robot would need combat-speed calculation comparable to a deity—an overload that could crash it.]
This mirrored what Qiongqi had said earlier: “If it weren’t afraid of calculating itself to death, it could learn anything.”
“Regardless, let’s handle this one first.” Yue Tingxi raised her hand. “Does it have a weak point?”
[The core. But core location and size vary by model; further scanning is needed.]
“Like high-level undead,” Yue Tingxi analogized. “Seemingly immortal, but removing its energy core or destroying limbs—or detonating it entirely—is effectively death.”
Unfortunately, the most experienced undead expert, Qiongqi, was still outside intercepting nearly nine hundred mission tools. Otherwise, they might have been able to manipulate fake Yin Guang for their use.
After a fleeting thought, golden law-based power separated the robot’s limbs and head.
The still-demonic Qin Suliu breathed fire, and in an instant, the single-person chamber became a blaze. Fire counters metal; the robot seemed metallic, and if the Qin family’s true fire was refined, it could melt even meteorites.
If not, the fire at least limited the material composition available for 7364 System to analyze.
Yue Tingxi spread her divine perception.
In the flames, the severed robot limbs no longer emitted red light and collapsed like snow melting under the sun, quickly forming a puddle.
However, because fake Yin Guang had previously struck her own Dantian in a tail-severing survival move, she remained vigilant. The first S-level mission operative they encountered could transform its body into water, which in their cultivation cognition counted as “rebirth through fire.”
As expected, the puddle soon regained humanoid form.
Meanwhile, Qin Suliu’s fox ears perked. She detected faint mechanical activation sounds, more than one at a time.
[Warning! Numerous robots converging here!] 7364 suddenly alerted. [Scanning quantity… exceeds ten! Recommend retreat to preserve strength!]
“They’ve abandoned disguise entirely.” Yue Tingxi surveyed the area. “But our reinforcements have arrived.”
They had fought from the mission hall through the path, consuming significant time, which was enough for Xisheng and allies to eliminate over ten mission operatives outside.
Through her refined divine pearls, Yue Tingxi sensed Xisheng approaching at incredible speed.
Massive numbers of fake Yin Guang were transported in, standing densely in the flaming room, pausing for a few moments as if adjusting to the heat, then lunging at the nine-tailed fox blocking Yue Tingxi.
“Clang—!”
With a sword’s hum, a silver-gray sword light severed them along with the flames!
Yue Tingxi’s eyes widened. She instantly realized this sword contained law and causality power—fake Yin Guang’s data originated from Qin Yin Guang, who in turn originated from World Consciousness. Hence, World Consciousness could sever all related causality, rendering all fake Yin Guang inert.
“Damn it! This bastard really doesn’t want to live!” Qiongqi cursed, following closely, wings flapping as he looked gravely at the suspended World Consciousness. “It just severed all resentment and tools! It even absorbed all the resentment I’d collected!”
This meant World Consciousness would absorb all causality. With 849 items in total, Yue Tingxi only severed one and dared not continue.
“…It will die.” Qin Suliu’s voice rang in Yue Tingxi’s mind, confident. “It probably didn’t plan to return.”
Even for a deity, capacity was not infinite. Like using soul-searching to absorb too many foreign memories, cognitive confusion would occur.
Trapped temporarily in “Ruthless Path,” Yue Tingxi could not feel much but remembered one thing: “It used Xie Zhi’s body.”
World Consciousness’ true form was too alien, bound in the deep layer of the Xuanshui secret realm. Xie Zhi, as its divine vessel, followed along. If World Consciousness used resentment and causality to go all out against the Mainframe, how could Xie Zhi survive?
Moreover, if World Consciousness’ consciousness died here, what would become of the Xuanshui vessel?
The divine pearl inheritance offered no guidance on this. Perhaps World Consciousness never intended for her to know.
If so, all developments might still be part of World Consciousness’ game.
Riding the fox back onto Xisheng’s path, Yue Tingxi glanced behind.
Nearly half the reinforcements were gone—left outside or fallen in battle.
The elevator along the route had already plummeted into the dark abyss.
The moment she entered the elevator area, a strange pressure descended from above, making her feel as if she could not fly.
But after another sword hum, the pressure vanished.
Simultaneously, Qiongqi revealed his demonic form, spreading his wings to soar upward.
The nine-tailed fox, unwilling to fall behind, pounded the ground with her claws, lifting Yue Tingxi into the air.
At last, at the highest point, they saw the culprit behind countless sacrifices and conflicts.
Though called the “Mainframe,” its true form was not a giant brain but a girl in a black robe, appearing only twelve or thirteen years old.
[You really brought people here, 7364.]
The girl turned, her voice not of either human or demon language, yet all present, divine or mortal, understood.
[You and the fortune child of your world love to meddle. If you don’t want to be absorbed by my world, just strengthen your defenses. I don’t need to gnaw on hard bones, yet you insist on ruining my plans! Do you really think you’re doing any justice?]
“By ‘meddling,’ she must mean 7364 System and Lin Chaoyao used missions to subvert small worlds,” Qin Suoliu relayed to Yue Tingxi.
Yue Tingxi nodded and shot an ice spike at the Mainframe’s brow.
The ice spike shattered in midair. The black-robed girl glared in surprise, frowning: [A mere newly ascended deity dares provoke me?!]
She raised her hand to cast a spell, but no light appeared—only a silver-gray sword severed her hand first.
“I am World Consciousness, guardian of all living beings. Witnessing this tragedy, I must intervene.” Xisheng, along with his little successor, joined the challenge. “The Book-Crossing Bureau should not exist. This time, I will kill you!”
[How amusing. You’ve yet to witness a total resource exhaustion catastrophe. Do you know how hard it is to maintain world order afterward?] Mainframe mocked. [I merely created an institution to stabilize energy absorption from other small worlds, like mining a vein, to save lives in my world.]
[Furthermore, the mission operatives’ intrusion exposed small-world problems. Whether the local World Consciousness later strengthens barriers, awakens the people to unite, or is already gone—it’s all progress. I’m helping the ants advance!]
