Wanxi Rebirth - Chapter 70
Yue Tingxi instinctively resisted.
Thinking of her current cultivation level and fearing she might harm Qin Suoliu’s soul, she abandoned the thought of stopping her almost immediately. She only activated the last remnants of the Soul-Purifying Pill, letting out a thin mist to shield those unbearable past reincarnation memories.
With this final, symbolic barrier, she silently told Qin Suoliu that, out of selfishness, she still did not wish for her to see everything inside.
Yet Qin Suoliu’s soul was like a blazing arrow, piercing straight through the thin mist without hesitation, heading deep inside.
Yue Tingxi let out a light sigh and followed the young lady’s soul.
“The ‘reincarnations’ that Lian Fengqing speculated about last year are real,” she explained to Qin Suoliu. “The Bashe forced all the memories of past reincarnations onto me—or perhaps forcibly broke through the World Consciousness’ seal on them. Now they’re all here, sealed by the Soul-Purifying Pill’s power.”
Thinking carefully, the main ingredient of the Soul-Purifying Pill, Soul-Purifying Herb, only grows in the secret realm. And this secret realm is the area closest to the World Consciousness, so perhaps this herb itself is a manifestation of a portion of the World Consciousness’ power.
“Why would the Bashe know about reincarnation?” Qin Suoliu asked.
“I’m not sure. I didn’t devour her soul, but instead used Grey Moth’s isolation spell and the power of the laws to erase her from the ‘life-force’ level,” Yue Tingxi shook her head. “But I suspect that perhaps when the World Consciousness separated me from her body back then, she took the opportunity to establish some kind of connection with the World Consciousness.”
Cultivators at the Tribulation stage are already recognized by the Way and qualified to ascend to the higher realm. Their proximity to the Heavenly Dao makes them closely aligned with the laws of existence. According to Xie Zhi, even when Yue Tingxi was still a ‘Demonic Infant,’ the World Consciousness had already purified her lingering resentment alongside her. Perhaps the Bashe quietly became a part of the World Consciousness back then.
And maybe, due to causal limitations or other rules, the World Consciousness could not completely erase the traces left by the Bashe, allowing her to step outside the bounds of the world itself and observe from a higher perspective everything that occurred after being sealed.
“Do you remember playing ‘puppet house’ when we were little?” Yue Tingxi continued. “We controlled the puppets, making them do this or that within a confined area, but they were always the ones inside the game, while we were the observers outside.”
“But… it doesn’t matter why the Bashe knows about reincarnation anymore,” she said, looking at a series of rainbow-colored bubbles—each a memory from past reincarnations. Just by touching them, one could see the content recorded inside. “These are her curse, deliberately ‘gifted’ to me before her soul dissipated.”
“I don’t know how to erase them, and I can’t bring myself to make them disappear. There might be an immense amount of information hidden here—possibly truths that the World Consciousness has concealed, or perhaps clues about the invaders and the organization behind them.”
“Besides, now that I know these reincarnations exist, I want… at least to preserve them.”
These were their shared sufferings. In each reincarnation, whether struggling desperately or giving up the chance at life, they all deserved to be remembered by her.
Qin Suoliu did not touch the memories, instead looking at Yue Tingxi’s soul.
“But the effect of the Soul-Purifying Pill is limited. You’ve already been tainted by them…” she murmured. “And you want to remember the pain we’ve gone through, right? In that case, the purification you did for the souls of demons cannot be applied to these memories.”
“Then I’ll just seal them for now. If the Soul-Purifying Pill isn’t reliable, we’ll use Grey Moth’s isolation spell! Maybe after a trip to the Ghost Realm Secret, the World Consciousness can help me solve this problem,” Yue Tingxi said optimistically. “And I don’t think they’ve ‘tainted’ me. The only issue now is that they sometimes pop up, confusing my perception of reality and the past.”
Hearing her answer, Qin Suoliu fell into thought.
“So, I’ll have Grey Moth ‘scan’ the important information first, then ‘isolate’ the rest?” she asked tentatively. “Don’t worry, I’ll only let Grey Moth see those memories.”
Since she already knew what Yue Tingxi was hiding and Yue Tingxi didn’t want her to see the details, she compromised, simply extracting the information.
Then, she took Yue Tingxi’s hand and waved her sleeve, sending Grey Moth toward the memories.
Since Lian Fengqing had shared her experience with the ‘scan’ spell, Qin Suoliu had used it many times over the past year.
Now, as they persisted in cultivation, they could even use their conscious sea as a sparring ground. Their soul-level power was no longer ordinary, and conducting a large-scale ‘scan’ only required time and spiritual energy to achieve results.
During this period, their souls needed to remain together.
Qin Suoliu had thought about waiting until after their wedding day to perform the ‘scan,’ but since the information concerned reincarnations spanning hundreds of years, she couldn’t wait to uncover the truths that the World Consciousness had repeatedly hidden. The sooner they could kill the invaders using this intelligence, the sooner they could accomplish the mission the World Consciousness truly wanted them to do.
Yue Tingxi didn’t need to ask. Just by seeing her actions, she could understand her resolve. She transmitted a message to Xie Zhi, the Salvation Balance, with whom she had the only blood pact:
“There’s a sudden matter. Could you think of an excuse to pass it to everyone?”
Having known Xie Zhi for a whole year, it was fine to be a little impolite when asking for help.
Whether Xie Zhi genuinely didn’t know what they were doing or felt the time was right to grant them new information, she readily agreed, saying, “When feelings arise, enter the bridal chamber, right? Understood.”
Hearing this, Yue Tingxi couldn’t help but feel guilty as she looked at Qin Suoliu.
Today was the most important day in both their human and demon lives—their wedding day. According to human customs, after hosting guests and toasting each of them, the couple should indeed enter the bridal chamber.
She had even prepared the so-called bridal chamber for the young lady, though it was in the newly built residence.
Now that their souls were connected, Qin Suoliu sensed Yue Tingxi’s thoughts and looked at her, soothingly saying: “It’s fine. After all, we usually cultivate together. Where or when we enter the bridal chamber makes no difference.”
Yue Tingxi breathed a slight sigh of relief. Thinking it over, she constructed a simple temporary scene in her conscious sea, set up a basic wooden screen around it, and, holding the young lady’s soul, changed into light silk robes and stepped into a steaming warm spring.
“My spiritual spring is usually cold. When you first bathed in it, I wondered if you would dislike it,” she said to Qin Suoliu. “So… I brought your warm spring here.”
Qin Suoliu leaned against Yue Tingxi’s soul and said calmly: “Although I like everything of yours, I still thank you for specially considering me.”
She had grown into an adult, able to control her emotions, and no longer threw tantrums over disliking something like she did as a child.
Yet Yue Tingxi could always sense her dislikes and tried her best to make her happy.
