Wanxi Rebirth - Chapter 65
Because both sides were old friends, Yue Tingxi felt an even stronger need to ask directly.
“I did manage to get a few of the ‘Marrow-Cleansing Spirit Pills,’” Chan Ying explained through spiritual communication. “I thought I got along well with Sha Sha, so I wanted to see if she’d be willing to take things further with me. If she’s not interested, I’ll still give her the pills. If she refuses, I’ll just make a business deal at a friendship price.”
She liked this young lady—a combination of warmth, generosity, and steadiness; cautious but not timid.
Most importantly, their business ideas always aligned. Even if they couldn’t be Dao partners, being business partners would still be good.
Yue Tingxi thought it was a reasonable plan but still reminded her, “Don’t bully Sha Sha!”
“Oh, you’re acting like the ancestor protecting her little ones,” Chan Ying teased. “I never bully my beloved~”
They were accustomed to whispering playful words via spiritual communication, finishing their conversation within a few heartbeats.
From Luo Yansha’s perspective, Yue Tingxi had stared at Chan Ying just a bit too long. She couldn’t help but ask, “Tingxi? Is something wrong?”
After checking her old friend’s thoughts, Yue Tingxi looked at Luo Yansha. “As long as you’re willing and agree, there’s nothing wrong.”
Seeing Luo Yansha nod, she continued, “Then let’s cultivate first. It’s too early to discuss plans now. Once your realms improve, the techniques you can learn and use will increase, and there will be better strategies. Also, Bifang’s growth must keep up; its fire spirit power may be needed to suppress the resentment in the Ghost Realm.”
No sooner had she spoken than Bifang let out an angry shout—she almost forgot that this little one still had a minor grudge with her and might oppose her.
Luo Yansha quickly soothed Bifang. “Good Zhenjing, haven’t you always wanted a place to burn freely? The Ghost Realm is perfect, but if your cultivation is insufficient, it’ll probably just be us getting burned!”
Bifang, always proud, immediately raised its head with renewed fighting spirit.
“Then I’ll first take Sha Sha to see the Marrow-Cleansing Spirit Pills,” Chan Ying said, getting up. “Her temporary residence is small; later I’ll discuss with her. If she wants, she can stay at my place. Then you can visit her there.”
Since Yue Tingxi returned, Qin Suoliu had remained silent, quietly listening and sipping tea, careful not to let her cold, indifferent tone unintentionally dampen the conversation.
After Chan Ying and the others left, Yue Tingxi closed the cave door and spoke: “Does Chan Ying and Luo Yansha… have something going on?”
“You noticed?” Yue Tingxi was slightly surprised. “I haven’t felt that Sha Sha is interested, but Chan Ying admitted it. This matter can be left to them. Sha Sha doesn’t like hiding major things from friends. If something happens, good or bad, she’ll come to me.”
Qin Suoliu nodded and asked something else: “What just happened? The whole Xishan shook. Gray Moth’s scan pointed to deep within Xishan—wasn’t that where the Bashe was sealed?”
“Ah, Zhe came on a whim and took me to see the Bashe seal,” Yue Tingxi said. Thinking of her own almost unbelievable complex origins, she unconsciously walked closer and sat next to Qin Suoliu.
Qin Suoliu followed her gaze. “You’re troubled.”
Yue Tingxi rested her head on her shoulder.
“Into the Soul Illusion Realm?” Qin Suoliu suggested.
Seeing her tilt her head, Yue Tingxi leaned against her, murmuring: “I know who my biological mother is now…”
“Bashe?” Even she thought it was absurd, but Qin Suoliu guessed boldly.
Before seeing the Bashe seal with the World Salvation Balance, Yue Tingxi had never been so emotionally down.
Qin Suoliu thought that if Tingxi had had a pair of perky beast ears like Yun Ruan, they would likely be drooping now.
“How did you guess so quickly?” Yue Tingxi immediately twisted into an awkward pose, surprised as she met her gaze.
Qin Suoliu silently thought, Because I know you well enough, but asked seriously, “What’s the situation exactly? Why aren’t you a reincarnation of Bashe, but her child?”
Yue Tingxi voluntarily pressed her forehead to Qin Suoliu’s again, showing her the earlier conversation in full.
“…Bashe provided the spiritual power and flesh forming your demon body. The World Consciousness erased your original soul and resentment, then infused the purified essence into Xishan’s spiritual circulation, allowing you to gather spiritual energy and be born.”
Qin Suoliu gave her opinion: “It seems they were all just interfering factors. If Bashe tries to tempt you during possession, you can simply tell her that the World Consciousness is also one of your mothers.”
Although Yue Tingxi had always doubted the World Consciousness, she had never thought of interpreting their relationship this way, leaving her stunned.
“As for the present world, there are still those who hate Bashe for thousands of years in Qinyu Mountain. I don’t think anyone, human or demon, would dare connect you to Bashe. No matter what form we take, we just convert demonic power for our own use.”
“If anyone—or any demon—does connect us to demons because of this, it’s likely personal grudges, trying to eliminate us opportunistically.”
Just as in their previous lives when they were massacred in Xishan, humans had long regarded demons as obstacles. Any chance to eliminate a potential threat would be seized. Even young demons were not spared.
Yue Tingxi listened silently and murmured: “I already know all this.”
Yet, for some reason, she still wanted to hear it from the young lady herself.
Qin Suoliu smiled silently, holding her close, stroking her back and running fingers through her hair—just as Tingxi had done for her in the past.
“When do you plan to possess?” After a long pause, Qin Suoliu asked.
“Tomorrow,” Yue Tingxi replied. “I always think the sooner the better, but to say I’m not afraid at all… that would be a lie.”
Having witnessed Bashe’s appearance and learned about her own origin, she found a pretext to return to her cave to calm her mind.
An unstable mindset makes possession dangerous.
“Do you want to hear my suggestion?” Qin Suoliu asked again.
“Sure.” Yue Tingxi sat up straight.
“The gap in realms can be compensated with the power of law and Gray Moth’s restraining and isolating spells,” Qin Suoliu said. “Bashe’s logic has its own right and wrong. Ordinary laws, like ‘righteously killing evil,’ may not work. You must uphold your own defined ‘rightness’—your Dao. Erase what you deem wrong in favor of what you deem right.”
Sometimes, this is what ‘stance’ truly means.
Both sides have reasons to act as they do. Coexistence and reconciliation are hard; in the end, a decisive battle occurs, and the winner writes the future history.
“Also, the ‘Coiling Snake’ you used to seal Shuo Han Hua was strong. If you can’t think of a better method, consider using it temporarily.”
When discussing formations and spells, Qin Suoliu had much experience to share.
They spoke almost all day. When night fell, Qin Suoliu felt there was nothing more to teach, so she randomly pulled some spells, letting Yue Tingxi simulate them in the illusion.
Late into the night, Yue Tingxi finally fitted Qin Suoliu inside her snake body, her lower half enveloped in warmth.
“…Honestly, I didn’t expect you to attempt this,”
Looking at the adjusted snake body that outlined her form, Qin Suoliu leaned against Yue Tingxi, nuzzling her chin. “From a human perspective, this is a fetal passage; a woman always tries to keep it clean.”
“You’re not dirty,” Yue Tingxi poked her face, half-joking, half-serious. “Or do you prefer being swallowed?”
Qin Suoliu didn’t respond, but Yue Tingxi sensed her thoughts, her cheeks flushing. “You…! This is deadly!”
She could no longer tolerate Qin Suoliu’s playful movements and dragged her out, biting her neck, water-spirit tendrils forming from her hands.
The next morning, Yue Tingxi examined her soul, dantian, and meridians, sensing her cultivation had stabilized further.
Only the four of them knew about the possession of Bashe. When the time came, Yue Tingxi and Qin Suoliu crushed the teleportation talisman, directly transferring to the base of the mountain where Bashe was sealed.
Lanterns lit the area like daylight. The ground was filled with large and small formations.
The Qinyu Mountain inhabitant wore a rare ancient green robe, hands behind her back, standing before Bashe.
Yue Tingxi noticed silver crescent moons on the sleeve cuffs besides the dark green bamboo patterns.
“This robe was gifted by the World Consciousness back then,” she explained via spiritual communication. “Do not wear it except in critical moments.”
The formations had been set the night before. As the participants arrived, she nodded to Yue Tingxi, made hand seals, and formed a silver crescent formation stamp, striking Bashe’s sleeping brow.
At the same time, surrounding formations glowed, golden shackles on Bashe’s body emitted sacred light.
Yue Tingxi felt the ground tremble again, but the formations and shackles quickly stabilized everything, as if the previous tremors were an illusion.
She noticed Xie Zhi had not intervened, observing the Qinyu Mountain inhabitant as if testing her.
“You go sit in the center of that formation,” the Qinyu Mountain inhabitant said. “I will send your soul into Bashe’s consciousness. Your body must be guarded at all times.”
A faintly glowing formation appeared.
Yue Tingxi sat cross-legged, taking the Soul-Purifying Pill gifted by Lan Fengqing.
It was pure white, emitting a refreshing fragrance, its patterns resembling leaf veins.
As a precaution, she took two pills. Qin Suoliu’s presence followed closely, ready to protect her.
“Begin.” Xie Zhi stopped observing and spoke seriously.
Another silver crescent formation appeared.
Suddenly, countless dark-golden characters emerged from the formation!
The scene was familiar. Yue Tingxi blinked, and a massive snake mouth loomed in front of her!
No shortcut this time. She guarded her soul and retreated.
During her retreat, she saw Bashe’s full demonic form: black snake, azure head, body as massive as mountains.
Bashe’s soul was here; she wove the power of law around it, not as shackles or weapons, but attached to the snake’s body, expanding gradually.
Two serpents met—either devour or poison.
“Seems the World Consciousness was right to remove you back then.”
A lifeless female voice spoke: “So pure a soul… all this time has shaped you. Your fate with It cannot be erased.”
Yue Tingxi ignored her and expanded the law-power.
But the gold attached to Bashe’s soul shattered into fragments. Expectedly, she changed tactics; the gold fragments became tiny snakes, mimicking the Xuanshui Realm’s Yu Yu Fish, biting Bashe’s soul.
Yue Tingxi only wanted Bashe’s body, not devouring the soul.
The tiny snakes lasted only a few heartbeats before being shattered by a red light.
They continued battling, consuming each other’s soul and energy.
“Not even curious about your mother’s thoughts, my child?”
Seeing her attacks couldn’t penetrate the thin golden light around her soul, Bashe sighed. “Following the righteous path, you understand why demons must be exterminated. Even if you devour your mother’s soul, the guilt of ‘parricide’ remains.”
Such words were manipulative! She had no mother like that.
Yue Tingxi had prepared, activating a silver-gray mark Qin Suoliu engraved on her soul, clearing her mind.
More gold light gathered in her hands, forming a law sword aimed at Bashe’s vital spot.
“The filth in this world, you must have experienced,” Bashe continued.
Despite recalling her previous life’s torment, Yue Tingxi’s focus remained on possession. Hesitation would be fatal.
Yet she sensed Bashe still had strength, but chose not to resist—almost as if allowing her to act.
She extended a silver-gray projection resembling Gray Moth to the core.
Her heartbeat thundered—the vital spot, the serpent’s heart.
“‘Seal’ the life force.”
With Yue Tingxi’s command, Gray Moth fluttered.
“Take them then.” Bashe’s voice reappeared, oddly gentle. “For thousands of years you’ve been away, my gift to you… you may call it a curse if you like.”
The massive snake body trapping her vanished.
Only a slowly dying red core remained, while a cold embrace held her.
Snow-white hair drifted in her vision, Bashe’s presence fading, yet the voice lingered:
“You may call it—‘a curse.’”
