Wanxi Rebirth - Chapter 107
As soon as Xie Zhi returned to the Hundred Rivers Alliance, she went to look for Yue Tingxi and the others.
As she expected, the young couple did not hide anything from her and openly admitted that the situation was a side effect of Jingjian purifying Ling Jian’s soul.
Regarding Ling Jian, Xie Zhi had no relevant memories yet—she had only heard Yue Tingxi describe the situation in general.
“It should be caused by both soul fusion and karma together,” she said. “The more thorough the purification, the greater the strain on your soul.”
Taking advantage of her familiarity with them, Xie Zhi continued: “To put it bluntly, your powers and Ling Jian’s counterbalance each other. If you want her to return to Xishan completely untainted, you… might have to disperse your soul.”
Just as she finished speaking, she noticed Qin Suoliu’s gaze on her.
“Yes. Back then, Xisheng and Basha were not fused; they relied on long periods of time to purify the demon infant she left behind,” Qin Suoliu said, no longer trying to hide it. “After my calculations, Xie Zhi’s guess is correct.”
“You can’t purify too fast…” Yue Tingxi frowned. “Fine, I’ll take it slow and do what I can.”
However, since she had not yet found the mastermind behind this, and could not currently purify Ling Jian’s soul, she felt a bit restless. So she asked Xie Zhi, “How is the world?”
“Nothing unusual for now.” Xie Zhi took out a spirit tablet for recording and reported, “I’ve gone through human cities and villages, and checked nearby mountains, rivers, and seas inhabited by demons. I haven’t noticed anything amiss.”
Yue Tingxi nodded and fell into thought.
The calmer the water, the deeper the hidden currents.
But these currents were so hidden and cunning that she couldn’t detect even the slightest clue yet.
She was not entirely without options—within the divine pearl Xisheng had left her, there were secret methods that only a world consciousness and its trusted aides could execute.
Still, she hesitated to use them, wanting to conserve her power for fear of exhausting it too soon.
There is no truly perfect method—only choices and compromises.
“Xie Zhi, go plant the ‘Karma Probes’ across the world for me,” Yue Tingxi instructed after careful consideration. “Both human and demon territories. Just plant them—everything else I’ll handle myself.”
If Xisheng could once collect all human resentment and its connected karma, it proved that a power existed that could seek out and observe karma. Combined with the divine pearl’s inheritance and the 7364 system’s calculations, they should be able to find the beings most closely tied to the causes of future disasters.
As for what to do with them afterward, that would depend on each individual case.
Xie Zhi had never expected that, after a lifetime, she could finally achieve her wish of “the world consciousness letting me travel the world.” She hurriedly agreed, and once they had no further questions, she immediately teleported back to Qing Wu’s side to report the situation.
“Can I help plant the ‘Karma Probes’?” Qing Wu asked.
“Of course! I’ll teach you!” Xie Zhi eagerly said, summoning the gray moth and wrapping its body with the power of the laws, forming it into a cocoon. “Let’s learn as we travel. The principles of the laws aren’t something you can grasp in three or five days.”
At the same time, back at the Hundred Rivers Alliance residence:
Chui Yin specially visited them to check in and pass along recent updates.
“The Hundred Rivers Alliance no longer needs a deity to oversee it. You don’t need to guard it, and can move freely. I’ll cover everything!” Chui Yin said. “If you’re unsure, just go home for now.”
So this departing team grew quite large.
Yue Tingxi cast isolation spells for herself and Qin Suoliu, then disguised herself in the same nondescript gray robe as Xie Zhi, and left Bu Zeqiu with the others.
They had always been ready to set off, and now, at dusk, the sunlight was blocked by layers of clouds, spreading a pale purple glow.
Xie Zhi summoned the flying boat she had refined and carried them forward through the sky.
“Are you heading back to Xishan or to Kongming Villa?” Qing Wu asked.
Yue Tingxi, who only cared about Qing Wu in Xishan for now, replied, “Kongming Villa. I really miss the children there.”
Since the Hundred Rivers Alliance was established, they had spent most of their time around Bu Zeqiu and nearby towns, only contacting Xishan through image pearls during holidays.
Qing Wu did not ask further. After traveling some distance, she said, “Rest as long as you need. It’s time to leave everything to us.”
“Yes, let’s trust our friends who remain in this time for now!” Xie Zhi chimed in. “This war is long. You’ve endured so far—if we leave you struggling for hundreds or thousands of years, our faces would be ruined!”
It was obvious that everyone noticed, but no one wanted to dampen spirits, so they waited until Yue Tingxi and Qin Suoliu were truly tired before formally bringing it up.
Yue Tingxi did not immediately respond. After discussing it spiritually with Qin Suoliu for a while, she nodded. “Once the ‘Karma Probes’ are planted, I’ll give one final guidance to this world, then my partner and I will go into seclusion and wait to return home.”
By “return home,” she meant dispersing their souls, returning to their future time.
As seen in the 7364 system’s memory modules, once a world no longer depends on a guiding consciousness to start, the world consciousness gradually withdraws, reducing interference.
It was also time for them to leave the future’s fate in the hands of the two trusted races.
Today, Kongming Villa was particularly lively. Even the youngest demons came out to watch the excitement.
“Senior Shihan Chuhan said that spiritual mist has arisen in the mountains; soon it will gather energy and transform into demons!” a small rabbit demon said excitedly. “We’ll have new companions soon! Born right here!”
Having experienced gathering spirit energy and becoming a demon herself, Yue Tingxi thought it was indeed worth celebrating. She held Qin Suoliu’s hand and followed the little ones to the spirit pool in the most spiritually concentrated part of Youhuang Mountain.
Qin Chuhan predicted that the gathering would happen within an hour. The demons patiently waited, some birds even bringing roasted seeds of all flavors to pass the time.
Yue Tingxi and Qin Suoliu also wanted to happily snack on seeds, but soon the little demons handed them the new semester schedules for the next half-year, eagerly awaiting their review and possible changes.
Unable to refuse, they ate seeds in one hand and held the schedules in the other, occasionally pointing out flaws and giving suggestions.
When the gathering hour approached, the mist over the spirit pool suddenly thickened, gradually forming the outline of a human.
Qin Suoliu, however, was completely absorbed by the human-shaped figure, feeling that everything seemed to follow a traceable pattern.
Her biological mother, Lan Kongming, was not the daughter of a noble family, only from near the Yuqiong Sect.
And the Youhuang Mountain they were in had once been territory occupied by the Yuqiong Sect in past cycles.
