Wanxi Rebirth - Chapter 102
“Master, two distinguished guests of unknown identity have arrived!”
At the Tianshu Palace in the Star-Picking Pavilion, the master’s direct disciple hurriedly reported, anxious and unsettled. “I cannot discern their cultivation levels… nor can I deduce their purpose for coming…”
“It’s fine. Bring them to Beichen Palace and treat them well. I will come shortly,” the master replied calmly, showing no surprise, gently brushing her sleeve.
The disciple grew even more nervous.
The Star-Picking Pavilion is structured around the “Big Dipper Seven Stars,” with seven palaces for the master and the elders. But the central Beichen Palace had always remained empty, with no statues or decorations, which had always puzzled her—but she dared not ask too much. The master’s actions always had a reason.
She quickly led the two guests to Beichen Palace, personally serving them the finest tea and fruit plates as a mark of respect, then stood nervously by the door, anxiously waiting for her master.
To appear more like a world-conscious being, Yue Tingxi wore her white-haired, silver-clad form, while Qin Suoliu disguised herself as “Ni Wangshu,” her red robe accented with two silver moons on her cuffs matching Yue Tingxi’s divine attire.
…Visually, they actually looked quite harmonious together.
The disciple, intrigued, instinctively began to calculate their relationship.
Surprisingly, she deduced that they were a pair of lovers, sworn to the heavens and mutually devoted.
Joyful, she wanted to probe further, but suddenly felt warmth trickling from her nose. Panicked, she wiped it away, only to be horrified by the blood.
Who exactly were these guests? She couldn’t see through them at all!
“My disciple is young and overly curious about strangers. Please forgive her,” the master’s voice came from behind. The girl, startled, turned around and was immediately handed a spirit pill, which she swallowed hastily and retreated.
“No harm done, just don’t get injured,” Yue Tingxi said warmly. “I am Lingjian, and this is my Dao companion, Ni Wangshu.”
“I am Bai Yu,” the master also introduced herself. “May I ask why you brought your Dao companion to visit our sect?”
“We have come regarding a calamity between the two races a thousand years from now,” Qin Suoliu explained. “This disaster is unavoidable, and its origin unknown. At most, the forces closest to the Dao can issue a warning to delay it as much as possible.”
Both understood that Xie Zhi’s suggestion was only a temporary measure—but it might buy time until their arrival.
“Providing a warning is, of course, no problem,” Bai Yu replied without hesitation. “However, those with ill intent might use this specific timing to deliberately trigger disaster, claiming it as ‘fate.’ In doing so, those seeking to interfere will feel justified, which in turn accelerates the crisis.”
“But at least, this allows some control…” Yue Tingxi muttered, suddenly recalling what Xi Sheng had said:
“Instead, it might be better to proactively trigger a world-level calamity from the start. First, it keeps the situation controllable; second, all evil beings and demons will have a gathering point, rather than hiding among innocents. If it erupts unexpectedly, the casualties are irreparable.”
Her wrist was suddenly grasped. She looked up and met Qin Suoliu’s gaze.
…Could it be that all their efforts would ultimately come to nothing, and everything would return to the original state?
Seeing their hesitation, Bai Yu secretly relaxed.
Fortunately, these two guests, though incarnations of the Dao, were still able to communicate, still capable of confusion, like ordinary humans and demons. They were not absolute authorities issuing commands.
“If you truly have options, I have a suggestion,” Bai Yu tentatively said. “The warnings should still be distributed, but only to a select few humans and demons. The selection criteria can be decided by you.”
She proposed using this pretext to form a special alliance, gathering powerful supporters of coexistence from both races.
Thus, even if someone tried to spark conflict, they would first have to consider whether they were strong enough to oppose these powerful figures.
“But this method requires you temporarily lead the organization,” Bai Yu reminded them. “Our sect will distribute the ‘Will of Heaven,’ initially under the principle of ‘Hope for Coexistence.’ Later adjustments can be made as necessary.”
Yue Tingxi and Qin Suoliu understood.
This meant they would need to spend all their divine power to gradually resolve the conflicts between the two races over a millennium, instead of traveling directly to the future.
Once their divine power was exhausted, they would have to stop their time-traveling journey and return to their original forms in the future, unable to intervene any further.
“This is a serious matter. Allow us some time to consider,” Yue Tingxi said solemnly.
“In that case, feel free to stay at our sect for a while. Any new ideas can be shared in time,” Bai Yu replied kindly.
“I think it’s feasible,” Yue Tingxi said.
At Yunshui Tower, Star-Picking Pavilion, Yue Tingxi set up a barrier and told Qin Suoliu, “Everything is a gamble. Perhaps taking careful steps is wiser.”
Qin Suoliu, already aware of Yue Tingxi’s search for a “perfect solution,” did not object, only reminding her, “Then we must cultivate trusted followers, so when our divine power runs out and we return to the future, someone can continue watching over the world.”
“There are candidates, but not enough yet,” Yue Tingxi replied. “I plan to first establish an alliance-like organization, placing our people in elder positions.”
As for how the organization would operate, the 7364 system’s database had references from other worlds and alliances to guide adjustments for their world.
Once their plan was set, Yue Tingxi informed allied demons.
“Fine, I can help oversee it,” the Lord of Chuiyin City readily agreed. “You saved my cherished city and people, so even if I had to serve you for life, I’d do it willingly!”
“Too much! Not necessary,” Yue Tingxi said with a laugh. “We’ll contact you if needed.”
“…Me? Am I really qualified?” Qing Wu hesitated. “Sorry, I cannot commit for now. Once I reach the Out-of-Body stage, if you still need elders, I’ll join.”
She was cautious, knowing her current strength.
Xie Zhi and Qin Chuhan, already trusted allies, immediately agreed and even asked about the alliance’s founding location, architecture style, and materials.
“No rush. We aren’t leaving. Let’s take our time,” Yue Tingxi smiled.
Xie Zhi, hearing Qing Wu’s response, eagerly requested to visit Xishan to exchange cultivation insights.
“I’ll mainly act as a motivator, perhaps even helping her become an appointed elder sooner!” Xie Zhi emphasized.
“Alright, we know your intentions,” Yue Tingxi teased. “Motivation, or a chance for dual cultivation? I think we can guess.”
Caught, Xie Zhi awkwardly coughed. “But dual cultivation really is more efficient! Don’t you agree?”
Yue Tingxi wasn’t eager for her to interact too much with the naive “young ancestor.”
Yet she remembered the timeline had already changed.
The “Bashé” demon had been purified early after time rewinding, ensuring no demon disasters or massacres in the next millennium.
Thus, Qing Yu Mountain’s grievances with Bashé had naturally disappeared from the start.
“…Can’t do anything about you,” Yue Tingxi finally sighed. “But I hope this relationship is decided by the Mountain’s person. If she doesn’t wish for a deeper bond, Xie Zhi, please respect that and not interfere with her cultivation.”
A young girl attracting demons arrived at Xishan.
She claimed to be the spirit of a meteorite, coming to repay Qing Wu.
“You gave the meteorite to the gods, didn’t you?” a knowledgeable demon asked Qing Wu. “Why use this as an excuse to swagger around?! Should I have the Mountain Master drive her away?”
Qing Wu didn’t think she was lying.
“I’ll see for myself,” she said, standing and leaving.
“Wait! She’s clearly here for you!” the demon protested but followed out of curiosity.
Though they knew the wolf demon and Qing Wu were just friends across cycles, Xie Zhi still felt jealous.
Qing Wu found the young girl’s presence glaring—both visually and spiritually.
The girl’s essence was indeed the meteorite Qing Wu had retrieved from the Xuan Water Secret Realm for her future daughter; even her human form matched the meteorite’s hue.
Thinking it over, she stepped aside to contact Yue Tingxi, confirming the girl’s identity and purpose, then cordially extended her hand: “Qing Wu, Qing Yu demon.”
Xie Zhi hesitated for a moment over her identity—meteorite demon? balance demon?
She simply shook her hand and said, “Just call me Xie Zhi.”
And so she stayed at Qing Wu’s residence.
Although she had spoken of “dual cultivation,” living with her heart demon, Xie Zhi wished she could mute her own heartbeat.
She had no memories of previously wronging Qing Wu, only vaguely told of such events, which made her extra cautious not to become an enemy.
Focused on cultivation, practice, and companionship, she found ways to interact without arousing Qing Wu’s suspicion or misunderstanding.
Fortunately, Qing Wu was also focused on cultivation, a “wooden-minded” type; Xie Zhi’s earlier “motivations” worked, as her daily improvements in cultivation and martial skills were obvious.
“Xie Zhi, I have a question.”
One day, while Xie Zhi was watering flowers, Qing Wu asked from behind, “What is the difference between family and a ‘Dao companion’?”
Xie Zhi: ?
“…Why do you ask this?” she tried to remain natural, smiling as she turned to ask.
“It just came to mind, thinking of Yue Tingxi and her Dao companion,” Qing Wu replied calmly. “If you don’t know, just pretend I didn’t ask.”
She turned to leave but was grabbed by the sleeve.
“If you want to explore it, I can accompany you,” Xie Zhi tentatively said, feeling her heart race.
