Wagging My Tail in the Ice Queen CEO’s Embrace - Chapter 35
Fu Anyu wanted to unwind tonight. After finishing her bedtime routine, she set up a laptop table on her bed, put on her headphones, and started watching an anime.
Ming Ying, meanwhile, was reading an e-book titled Demon Race Living Guidelines beside her. However, ever since witnessing Fu Anyu’s entire bathing process, her mind had been filled with all sorts of messy thoughts, making it impossible for her to focus on the dry, tedious rules.
She looked up and caught a glimpse of Fu Anyu’s screen. A long-haired woman dressed in white robes and red pants was drawing a bow, her expression pained, as if speaking to someone.
In the next moment, an arrow shot out, glowing with a pink radiance, and struck the chest of a white-haired dog-demon youth in the distance.
“What is this?!” Ming Ying exclaimed, startled.
“Inuyasha,” Fu Anyu replied. “It’s an old anime.”
Ming Ying didn’t quite understand what “anime” meant, so she just nodded blankly and craned her neck to watch curiously.
Noticing her interest, Fu Anyu turned off her headphones, switched to speaker mode, and dragged the progress bar back to the beginning so they could watch together.
“Why is Kikyo trying to kill Inuyasha?” Ming Ying asked after watching for a while.
“Keep watching,” Fu Anyu said.
Ming Ying obediently fell silent and continued watching. To make herself more comfortable, she brought the Shiba Inu over and leaned against its soft fur as she kept her eyes on the screen.
“That well is so magical! It actually lets people from different eras travel to each other’s worlds!” Ming Ying marveled after watching a bit longer.
She suddenly recalled the forbidden land she had accidentally stumbled into while being chased. No one in the demon clan had ever told her where that forbidden land led, but the moment she stepped into it, she found herself in the human realm.
Could it be that the forbidden land had the same effect as the Bone-Eater’s Well?
The thought crossed Ming Ying’s mind, but before she could ponder it further, she was drawn back into the unfolding plot.
Hours passed in what felt like an instant. Even after Fu Anyu closed her laptop, moved the table aside, and turned off the lights to sleep, Ming Ying remained absorbed in the world of Inuyasha.
“Why were there so many evil demons in ancient times?” Ming Ying couldn’t help but ask after a moment of reflection.
She had originally wanted to ask about Kikyo, Kagome, and Inuyasha, but then remembered that Fu Anyu didn’t like talking about romance, so she changed the subject.
“During the Warring States period, humans could barely protect themselves, let alone manage demons,” Fu Anyu explained. “Wild demons lived by the rule of survival, so they harmed and devoured humans. Demons like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, who were born into powerful clans, had it slightly better.”
Ming Ying poked the Shiba Inu and, for some reason, thought of her own family’s situation. “Ever since I can remember, I’ve always lived in the city. It’s peaceful there, but I’ve heard from our clan that outside, wars are frequent, and many demon territories are often invaded by other clans. It sounds just like the setting of Inuyasha. Our clan is strong, which is why we haven’t been bullied.”
She paused, recalling the time she was hunted by evil demons, her voice growing somber. “But that doesn’t mean no one has their eyes on us. When I was being chased, those evil demons kept shouting ‘capture her alive!’ as if they planned to use me to threaten my parents…”
Fu Anyu reached out and gently patted the fox’s back.
“You’re safe now,” she said.
“But I’m missing,” Ming Ying murmured. “What if they use that as an excuse to spread false rumors and threaten my parents…”
Just thinking about it, she could already guess the price her parents would pay to get her back. Her nose instantly stung, and she couldn’t hold back her sobs as she began to cry.
“What should I do… What am I supposed to do, Fu Anyu?”
Fu Anyu pulled her into her embrace, letting her press close and cry against her.
“If only… if only I remembered my home’s exact address, could I… could I have gone home long ago?” Ming Ying sobbed. “But I know nothing… You were right before, if you dropped me off at the entrance to the demon realm, I truly wouldn’t be able to find my way home safely. The demon realm is so vast… I might… might never even find the way home… Sob…”
“I’m searching,” she heard Fu Anyu murmur softly. “I’ve been searching all along.”
She understood that Fu Anyu meant she had been helping her look for her home, but she also knew that without a specific address, Fu Anyu wouldn’t send her back.
For humans, everything about the demon realm was likely unknown. Fu Anyu had a home and a job in the human world; before she was certain, she wouldn’t risk venturing into an unfamiliar land for a stranger like her.
At that moment, Ming Ying desperately wanted to tell Fu Anyu everything about herself, but reason held her back, relentlessly reminding her that if she couldn’t return, her parents would only think she was missing. But if she truly fell into the hands of evil humans or demons, she would bring real trouble to her entire clan.
As she cried, Ming Ying hazily thought that if she could deepen her relationship with Fu Anyu, perhaps everything could take a turn for the better.
Yet that thought only surfaced for a moment before she quickly suppressed it.
How could she deceive Fu Anyu’s feelings just for her own sake?
Moreover, Fu Anyu had already shut down any related topics and was busy with work every day. Perhaps she really was like her father, holding a very important position, both revered by many and striving to protect them all.
Now, with nothing to her name, not even able to maintain her human form, what right did she have to pull Fu Anyu down from that position?
Ming Ying didn’t know when she had fallen asleep. Hazy with tears and thoughts, she drifted into a dream.
Where thoughts linger, dreams follow.
Ming Ying had another absurd dream.
In the dream, she had taken human form and woke up on an impossibly large bed.
“Good morning, Miss Ming.” Du Yunxin soon floated to her side, respectfully offering her a steak and, as she enjoyed it, handing her a glass of red wine.
Ming Ying had never drunk alcohol before. Taking a sip of the dream wine, she found it sweet and tangy, much like sour plum soup. Her appetite stirred, and she couldn’t resist drinking it all.
As soon as she finished her meal, the scene shifted from the bed to the inside of a car.
Sensing the scents of pine and jasmine nearby, she turned her head and saw Fu Anyu sitting beside her, dressed in a gray suit, her dark hair slightly curled and falling naturally over her shoulders.
Seemingly aware of her gaze, Fu Anyu turned to her and smiled faintly. “Good morning.”
Before Ming Ying could respond, the next moment, Fu Anyu, just like the CEO in The Ice-Queen CEO’s Fierce Love, took her hand, stepped out of the car driven by Xiao Chen, and walked along a red carpet through a shower of flower petals into the company’s entrance.
Suddenly, Ming Ying felt an intense itch behind her. Turning around, she discovered that all nine of her tails had sprouted.
Then, she found herself in Fu Anyu’s office, facing a long redwood desk as expansive as a sofa. Fu Anyu sat upright in a black leather chair, hands clasped together, her icy gaze fixed intently on her before gradually softening.
“Come here,” Fu Anyu commanded in a tone that brooked no refusal.
Ming Ying hesitated, remaining rooted to the spot.
“Come here,” Fu Anyu repeated. “If you obey, I’ll give you anything you want.”
She paused. “Even my life.”
Before Ming Ying could decide, her body moved on its own, and she found herself seated on Fu Anyu’s lap.
Ming Ying: “…?!”
She stared in terror at Fu Anyu, about to ask what was happening, when Fu Anyu pinched her chin.
That expressionless face loomed closer, stopping just short of her lips before turning to her cheek and blowing a soft breath against her fox ear.
Ming Ying shivered uncontrollably and instinctively protested, “Don’t,”
“Be good,” Fu Anyu’s voice whispered into her ear. Immediately after, a familiar hand settled on her tail, stroking boldly along the fur.
“Don’t touch my t-tail… wu!” Ming Ying cried out, but before she could finish, her words were silenced by a pair of soft lips.
All nine of her tails fell victim to Fu Anyu’s caresses.
Ming Ying sobbed and screamed, but Fu Anyu kept her head firmly in place, muffling her cries. As she struggled, the spirit-binding restraints tightened around her wrists and ankles. No matter how hard she fought, all she could hear was the faint jingling of bells, there was no escape from Fu Anyu.
“I’m very satisfied,” Fu Anyu’s voice finally sounded beside her ear again after what felt like an eternity. “Marry me, little fox. I’ll send you home.”
Ming Ying lay limp and motionless in her embrace, no longer aware of what she was agreeing to.
When she woke the next morning, Ming Ying found her face damp, not from tears, but as if freshly wiped with a wet towel.
The Shiba Inu plush lay before her, still wearing its silly grin and emanating a faint medicinal oil scent.
Staring at its smile for a few seconds, Ming Ying inexplicably felt mocked. She couldn’t resist reaching out a paw to pinch its fluffy face, only to catch Fu Anyu stepping out of the bathroom from the corner of her eye.
The absurd dream from moments earlier made her instinctively want to flee at the sight of Fu Anyu. But she forgot her front paws were still injured and ended up tumbling flat on the bed.
“Awake?” Fu Anyu approached and bent down, asking softly, “Did I wake you?”
“No!” Ming Ying shook her head hurriedly, taking a deep breath filled with the scent of medicinal oil to shake off the lingering sensations from the dream. “I woke up on my own.”
Fu Anyu reached out to pat her head but, noticing the fear in her eyes, didn’t press further and instead turned to the wardrobe to get dressed.
Once fully awake, Ming Ying asked, “How did I fall asleep? Did I cause you any trouble last night?”
Recalling the details, she realized there were no signs of spiritual restraints on her limbs, nor any unusual sensations suggesting she had been bound. It seemed she hadn’t clung to Fu Anyu too tightly, or at least, not excessively, while asleep.
“You cried yourself to sleep,” Fu Anyu said, then paused before continuing, “But you didn’t cause me any trouble.”
Last night, the little fox had remained nestled in her embrace the entire time, not moving around at all.
