Until the Substitute Saintess is Loved: The Sister Sent to the Convent as the Villainess Heals Everyone's Hearts with Her Healing Powers - Chapter 31
After completing various procedures and returning to the convent, we were greeted with blessings by everyone at the convent who already knew about our engagement.
“Lupina! Congratulations!”
Mona-san came rushing over to hug me.
“Thank you.”
“Not only did you return safely, but you’re engaged to Lord Landrick! I thought things might work out between you eventually, but this is wonderful!”
She hugged me so tightly I could feel her beaming smile even through her veil, and I truly felt that I had made it back home.
(When I first headed to the Rolt border territory, I never thought I’d return safely.)
The welcome I received in the Rolt border territory had been far from warm, but when I left, they offered me deep apologies and gratitude.
It was true that my sister-in-law Lupina had hurt Lady Mimiera Rolt, but it was also true that I had saved Lord Forthner of the border count’s family and many knights.
The reason I was able to stay safely at Rolt Border Count’s castle was apparently because Lord Forthner and the border count’s knights persuaded the border count, in addition to Lord Landrick’s efforts.
When I left the castle, I was able to meet Lady Mimiera as well.
Even though her heart must still be wounded, she thanked me for saving her brother.
I was also glad that I could apologize to her as Lupina’s sister-in-law and lighten her heart even just a little.
Everything was moving in a positive direction.
While being congratulated by everyone at the convent, I found myself thinking such carefree thoughts—completely unaware that hell awaited me.
◇◇◇◇◇◇
It came suddenly that day.
I was boiling medicinal herbs with Mona-san as usual.
“Lupina-chan, you have a visitor!”
“Hey, Pikka! I’m always telling you not to run!”
“Ah, sorry Mona-chan! I just got excited. The headmistress told me to bring them quickly.”
“Maybe it’s Lord Landrick. Lupina, this is almost done here, so you can go to the reception room.”
“Thank you, I’ll be right back.”
Lord Landrick had said he wouldn’t be able to visit for a while due to various procedures.
But perhaps he made time to come see me.
Feeling unavoidably restless, I walked at a brisk pace. The white tiled corridors of the convent seemed to shine as if illuminated by sunlight.
When I knocked on the reception room door, the headmistress urged me inside.
(Huh?)
Why?
The moment I entered the room, I gasped.
My heart made an unpleasant sound. Without realizing it, my fingertips began trembling.
“Good day, Sister-in-law Lupina. Congratulations on your engagement.”
Elegant, radiant.
She stood there with a smile as if everything in this world belonged to her.
Her indigo eyes smiled but never truly laughed. The words spun from her thinly curved lips had always tormented me.
Lupina Ivor, Count’s Daughter.
The real her stood there composed and dignified.
