Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 67.2
“As for what you mentioned about your mother Bai Liang’s claim of switching babies years ago – what a coincidence. I happened to see her at the hospital that day and became suspicious. I never imagined she’d actually dare commit such a crime.”
“Bai Liang, out of consideration for our past relationship, I didn’t report you back then. Yet not only did you fail to recognize Bai Yuetong as your own daughter, you’ve now exposed your own crime. I’ve already called the police. Save your explanations for the station.”
“How dare you call the police, Jiang Qingyuan!” Bai Liang screamed hysterically. “How dare you! You owe me this!”
“I owe you nothing! You know better than anyone what really happened when we broke up! Since we’re airing everything out, I might as well tell everyone the truth.”
Jiang Qingyuan’s version of events completely contradicted Bai Liang’s story.
They had indeed been in love since their student days, but when they separated, Jiang Qingyuan was still penniless. The breakup wasn’t due to him cheating with some wealthy heiress as Bai Liang claimed, but because of her pathological need for control and constant belittlement.
At this point, one of Jiang Qingyuan’s old business partners who had endured enough spoke up: “You were so materialistic back then – spending all of Brother Yuan’s savings on luxury goods, causing our projects to fail repeatedly and our startup to hit rock bottom again and again.”
“I remember every time you came to the office, it was either to demand money or to compare yourself to others while endlessly criticizing Brother Yuan. Yet he kept tolerating it. Even when you broke up and took all his savings, he gave you everything without complaint. He’s been more than fair to you – never spoke ill of you after the split, just said you weren’t compatible when asked.”
“But Bai Liang, I never imagined you could be this shameless. First spreading rumors about Brother Yuan being heartless after the breakup, and now trying to switch and abuse his child? Turns out you were abusing your own daughter. Isn’t that poetic justice?”
“This is all your karma!”
After these revelations, the world seemed to fall silent. The banquet hall was utterly still.
The silence was finally broken by approaching police sirens.
All three members of the Bai family were taken away in full view of everyone.
Only then did Jiang Chi feel sensation returning to her body. She stood up and threw herself into Jiang Qingyuan and Liu Ci’s arms, tears falling onto their shoulders. “Dad, Mom. I thought I’d never get to call you that again.”
Liu Ci hugged her tightly, crying too. “Thank goodness it was just a false alarm.”
After comforting them both, Jiang Qingyuan stepped onto the podium to bring the banquet back on track.
Jiang Miao sighed softly, pulling her suitcase as she walked up behind Jiang Chi and gently tapped her shoulder.
“I shouldn’t disturb you at this hour, but after watching such a spectacle, I’m exhausted. I just want to finish what I was asked to do and go rest.”
“Jiang Chi, can we talk for a moment? It won’t take much of your time just a few minutes.”
Jiang Chi glanced at the suitcase in her hand and felt her body, which had just begun to warm up, turn ice-cold again.
That was the suitcase she had left at Wen Wen’s place. There was no doubt about who had entrusted Jiang Miao with this task.
Sister, didn’t even want to see her anymore, did she?
The two moved to a corner. Jiang Chi gestured at the suitcase, her tone laced with resignation. “So, your good friend finally came to her senses?”
Jiang Miao tightened her grip on the suitcase handle, her gaze hardening momentarily before she seemed to deflate, shaking her head with a faint smile as she pushed the suitcase toward Jiang Chi.
“I have a few messages to relay to you.”
“First, Jiang Chi, I’m sorry for keeping you confined to my side these past days. If you want any compensation, name it, and I’ll do my best to make it right. Don’t worry, I won’t see you again. I’ll have someone else handle it.”
“Second, I know everything. From the moment you started talking to Su Jing, Su Jing called me. The call stayed connected the whole time, I heard everything, including your conversation with my mother. Again, I apologize for the trouble I caused. I won’t bother you anymore, and I’ll make sure you never have to see me again. You don’t need to worry.”
“Third, I wish you happiness.”
These were words Wen Wen had wanted to say when they first fell apart, but back then, she had still held onto selfish hope that Jiang Chi would be happy only with her. So at the time, she had only said, “I wish you all the best.”
But now it was clear Jiang Chi would be happier without her.
Jiang Miao: “My task is done. Jiang Chi, goodbye forever.”
With that, she turned to leave, but as if suddenly remembering something, she paused, her shoulders slumping heavily before she turned back to face Jiang Chi. “In my life so far, I’ve never regretted anything. But helping you and Wen Wen get together? That, I regret.”
This time, she truly left without looking back.
Jiang Chi watched as Jiang Miao walked up to Zhuyue, said a few words, and then Zhuyue cast a deep glance at Jiang Chi before following Jiang Miao away.
Everyone was gone everyone connected to Wen Wen.
Sister, how could I ever be happy without you?
Jiang Chi clutched her chest, hunched over the suitcase, her vision darkening as her legs gave out. She collapsed, unconscious.
When she woke again, she was in her own room. This time, not only was Liu Ci by her side, but the four elders, who had been traveling in another province but got stranded due to heavy rain were there too, along with Jiang Qingyuan.
Seeing her awake, the elders swarmed her, each voicing their concern.
Jiang Chi sat up, smiling as she reassured them one by one. “I’m fine, really.”
“But, how long was I out?”
“It’s already the next day.”
Grandma: “Sweetheart, are you really, okay?”
Jiang Chi: “I’m really fine, Grandma. Yesterday, I was just really shaken up.”
The real reason was something only she knew.
She hugged the elderly woman in front of her, nuzzling her head against her. “I thought I’d never get to call you grandma again.”
Grandma patted her head gently. “Silly child, even if that were true, you’d still be my granddaughter. I’ve watched you grow up all these years, our bond could never be fake.”
After everyone had surrounded Jiang Chi with questions and finally left reassured, Liu Ci turned back at the door to remind her: “It’s already noon. Your grandpa and grandfather made all your favorite dishes, they’re keeping them warm for you. Come down and eat when you’re hungry.”
Jiang Chi nodded with a smile.
After everyone had left, Jiang Chi still wore a bright smile. Only she knew that everything she was displaying now was still under the control of the plot.
She still hadn’t broken free.
Now it seemed that the key to unraveling everything was indeed Wen Wen.
But now,
What else could she do? It seemed everything was too late.
Just then, her phone on the side dinged with a notification.
A message from Su Jing: [“Jiang Jiang, what are you up to? Come have lunch with me, okay?”]
Jiang Chi replied without hesitation: [“Okay.”]
An invitation from Su Jing was something she simply couldn’t refuse.
She quickly got ready and went downstairs.
Her family members downstairs immediately asked where she was going when they saw her.
Jiang Chi answered truthfully.
Hearing this, everyone seemed to hesitate, but in the end, it was Jiang Qingyuan who spoke: “Jiang Jiang, if this is your choice, Dad still stands by his words.”
“Can you drive right now? Should we have the chauffeur take you?”
Jiang Chi hugged each of them before saying, “No need, I’m really fine.”
The red sports car drove leisurely down the main road. It was noon, and there weren’t many cars on the road, so Jiang Chi quickly noticed that a car seemed to be following her.
She glanced outside the road was quite remote then checked the navigation to the restaurant address Su Jing had sent. She wasn’t on the wrong route.
Just as she looked up again, the car behind her stopped hiding its intentions and sped up, ramming into her vehicle repeatedly.
Jiang Chi tried to shake it off, but at that moment, an SUV appeared ahead, heading straight for her.
Her head slammed hard against the windshield before the airbag violently threw her back into the seat.
Her body ached as if it had been shattered, yet a faint smile lingered on Jiang Chi’s lips.
She remembered everything now. So, this was how it all.
