Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 51
To Wen Wen’s surprise, Jiang Chi didn’t press the matter this time.
Outside the door, there was a faint rustling sound, followed by receding footsteps before silence settled once more.
Wen Wen turned onto her back, staring blankly at the dazzling crystal chandelier on the ceiling, its brilliance almost blinding.
Too glaring.
She averted her gaze, her eyes unfocused, as if lost in thought or perhaps not thinking at all.
Suddenly, the sound of a door opening came from outside, followed by hurried footsteps, and finally, the slam of the main door.
Her eyelids twitched instinctively, as if sensing something. Wen Wen got up from the bed and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. The view from her room was excellent, she could see not only the tent area where Su Jing and Bai Yuetong were staying but also the warehouse district where Jin Jin Yi and Ji Mei were.
Lifting the curtain slightly, she spotted Jiang Chi standing at the entrance of the tent, just as expected.
The tent flap was pulled open from inside, and Su Jing peeked out. The two exchanged words, and Su Jing stepped aside. Then, as if by some unspoken agreement, both of them turned to look in Wen Wen’s direction just before Jiang Chi entered.
Su Jing’s gaze was unmistakably provocative, while Jiang Chi’s expression was unreadable.
Expressionless, Wen Wen let the curtain fall and strode toward the door. The cold metal of the doorknob sent a shiver through her as she gripped it, cooling her heated thoughts.
Was it necessary to go over there?
She could take a hundred steps forward, but what if the other person took even a single step back?
Wen Wen opened the door and stepped out.
If Jiang Chi retreated one step, she would simply take two steps forward.
It wasn’t a big deal. After all, she was someone who couldn’t live without the sun.
When she reached the tent, before she could act, the flap was pulled open from inside, revealing a red, fluffy head.
Jiang Chi crawled out and stood before her, cautiously calling out, “Sister.”
Wen Wen fixed her with a steady gaze, her tone indifferent. “Are you coming back with me?”
Jiang Chi nodded eagerly. “Yes.”
The moment the word left her lips, Wen Wen grabbed her wrist and pulled her back toward the room.
Once inside, Wen Wen released her and looked up at the girl who was watching her with cautious eyes.
She wanted to ask, Are you trying to provoke me on purpose?
But what right did she have?
Su Jing was the one Jiang Chi liked. What was she?
She wasn’t even a friend.
No not even a friend.
Wen Wen sighed silently. “Get some rest. It’s late.”
Jiang Chi twisted her thumb and index finger together, a nervous habit she had only recently noticed in herself. She opened her mouth but said nothing, simply turning toward the bed.
“Don’t lie to me.”
Jiang Chi had only taken two steps when Wen Wen’s voice cut through the silence from behind. She froze.
“Jiang Chi, I’ve told you before this is my bottom line.”
“So don’t lie to me.”
For a moment, Jiang Chi wanted to lay everything bare before Wen Wen regardless of whether Wen Wen would think her insane. She just didn’t want to be misunderstood.
But suddenly, she wasn’t sure.
Had all her actions toward Wen Wen these past days counted as deception?
When you lack confidence in your heart, speaking up becomes even harder.
Moreover, being controlled by the plot is something completely beyond the comprehension of ordinary people.
She believed her actions didn’t count as deception. If she had to label it, she had merely taken slight advantage of Wen Wen.
Just a little.
She had never thought she needed to explain anything to Wen Wen before. She assumed that without her interference, Su Jing and Bai Yuetong would naturally get together soon.
Perhaps then, she could finally break free from the plot’s control.
Yet, the two of them still hadn’t gotten together. She had been puzzled until tonight when she overheard their conversation outside the tent. Only then did it dawn on her she was Su Jing’s Blood-sucking pack, his stepping stone to success. Without getting what he wanted, how could he possibly let her go? Besides, in Su Jing’s mind, she was still the one throwing a tantrum.
Hoping for the male and female leads to get together was the key to her complete liberation from the plot’s control. That way, the rift between her and Wen Wen caused by Su Jing would naturally resolve itself, no explanations needed.
Jiang Chi turned around and met Wen Wen’s gaze. “Sis, I didn’t lie to you.”
Since they had gathered enough footage over the past two days, the production team announced after breakfast the next morning that the guests could go home after finishing their individual interviews.
Learning from her last mistake, Jiang Chi specifically reminded Wen Wen before heading into her interview: “Sis, let’s leave together later, okay?”
Wen Wen took a sip of water. “I have something urgent to attend to and need to leave now. Be careful on your way back.”
Jiang Chi fell silent for two seconds before leaning in close to her ear. “Then can I come see you tonight?”
Wen Wen set down her cup. “I’ll be away on a business trip for three days.”
Jiang Chi: “…”
“Then at least reply to my messages, okay?” Jiang Chi compromised. “Call me when you have time.”
Wen Wen raised an eyebrow teasingly. “What? Don’t want to come with me this time?”
During their last video call, when she only had one day left on her trip, Jiang Chi had still asked to join her.
Of course, Jiang Chi wanted to go, she would gladly stick to Wen Wen 24/7 if she could.
But this time, she had something else to do.
She needed to find time to have a proper talk with Su Jing.
Given that she was under the plot’s control about 80% of the time when she was with Su Jing, she had no choice but to spend as much time with him as possible, waiting for those rare moments of clarity to voice her thoughts.
The question was whether the plot would even allow her to say what she wanted.
Ideally, having Wen Wen present would be the safest option, but forcing Su Jing and Bai Yuetong together right in front of Wen Wen?
How cruel would that be?
So she only vaguely replied, “I have something to take care of too,” before quickly steering the conversation back. “Promise me, sis? Message me when you can, call me when you’re free, okay?”
Wen Wen studied her quietly for a moment before nodding. “Okay.”
Jiang Chi stuck close to Su Jing for two days. As expected, she remained under the plot’s control the entire time. When Su Jing told her to block Wen Wen’s contact, she obeyed. When he demanded she never contact Wen Wen again, she agreed without hesitation.
It was as if she had reverted to her pre-awakening self every action dictated by Su Jing’s words.
If he told her to go west, she would never dare head east.
From the very first day she started hovering around Su Jing, comments about her being a “reincarnated bootlicker” and “a dog that can’t stop eating shit” were rampant. Their images dominated the headlines of entertainment news, with rounds upon rounds of trending topics.
However, Jiang Chi herself remained completely unaware of all this.
All her time was spent monitoring Su Jing’s moods. The only reason she opened her phone was to contact Su Jing.
There must have been moments when she wasn’t controlled by the plot. She had originally planned to try contacting Wen Wen, but Su Jing suddenly became like a pervert, checking her phone every few hours and issuing a harsh warning: “If you contact Wen Wen again, there will be no possibility between us.”
She behaved obediently.
At a little past ten on the second night, Jiang Chi finally found an opportunity.
At that time, Su Jing had just finished work, Bai Yuetong wasn’t by his side, and she happened to be released from the plot’s control.
Jiang Chi walked up to Su Jing: “Let’s have dinner together?”
Su Jing had been busy until now and hadn’t had time for dinner.
Although the two had eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner together these past two days, Su Jing actually didn’t want to dine with her. Each meal had been forced by her persistence.
She made this formal invitation as if it were a proper farewell dinner.
She hoped they could each go their separate ways without further entanglement.
Su Jing didn’t notice the change in her attitude or tone. He simply felt that after these two days during which Jiang Chi had been as infatuated with him as before it was time to propose marriage.
Though it still felt rushed, only marriage would truly secure everything. Once married, it would all be settled.
Given Jiang Chi’s state these past few days, she would surely cry tears of joy upon receiving his proposal. He gripped the engagement ring he had already prepared.
Su Jing smiled gently: “Alright, let’s go. I reserved a restaurant.”
Jiang Chi froze for a moment. It was a bit heartbreaking after dating for over two years, this was the first time she had heard Su Jing reserve a restaurant for them. In the past, she had always been the one making arrangements, and if Su Jing wasn’t satisfied with the dishes, he would even nitpick.
She had also reserved a restaurant but didn’t mention it, simply saying, “Alright, let’s go.”
When they arrived at the restaurant entrance, Jiang Chi immediately recognized it as the place Su Jing often took Bai Yuetong for meals.
Suddenly, she found it bitterly ironic. She, Jiang Chi, was indeed spoiled and willful, but she had never treated Su Jing poorly in the slightest. Why, then, did he have to choose the very restaurant he frequented with his lover just to spite her?
Never mind. Her intention wasn’t really to come here for a meal anyway.
When they entered the private room Su Jing had reserved and saw the two candles on the table, Jiang Chi raised an eyebrow slightly and couldn’t help asking, “Are you sure you didn’t invite the wrong person?”
Su Jing didn’t catch her implication and merely smiled. “The girl I invited is named Jiang Chi. Are you Jiang Chi?”
A wave of disgust rose from her stomach to her throat. Jiang Chi took a silent deep breath and said nothing more, stepping toward the dining table.
Su Jing, walking behind her, suddenly quickened his pace, overtaking her to reach the table first and pull out a chair for her.
Jiang Chi paused mid-step, then changed direction, heading to the other side of the table. This time, she lengthened her stride, leaving no opportunity for Su Jing to pull out her chair.
She pulled out the chair herself and sat down. Seeing the man across from her still frozen, she smiled faintly. “What’s wrong? Why are you just standing there?”
Su Jing quickly composed herself and shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
Soon, a waiter entered, and Su Jing proceeded to order without consulting her.
The dishes arrived promptly, and Su Jing enthusiastically introduced each cuisine to her.
Once the meal was served, Jiang Chi let her gaze sweep over the lavish spread before resting her elbows on the table, chin propped on interlaced fingers. She spoke leisurely, “All of these are Bai Yuetong’s favorites, aren’t they?”
In the flickering candlelight, she clearly saw Su Jing stiffen for just a moment before forcing a strained smile. “Of course not. These are all my favorites. Didn’t you always say you wanted to understand my tastes, Jiang Jiang? Well, this is everything.”
“And, I want to get to know you better too,” Su Jing added, rising from her seat. She walked over to Jiang Chi, knelt on one knee, and produced a ring. “Jiang Jiang, marry me. Let me spend the rest of my life learning everything about you.”
