Turns out I Was the CEO's White Moonlight [Rebirth] - Chapter 15
This girl before him is Shen Yelin’s sister?
The realization left Xie Yun’s mind blank for several seconds. He instinctively glanced at Shen Xuan. This time, she wasn’t wearing the oversized sunglasses that had covered most of her face before. Looking closely, he could indeed trace a faint resemblance to Shen Yelin in her features.
His heart sank slightly.
His earlier reaction must have been fully observed by Shen Yelin. Xie Yun knew all too well that the other man was the classic protective type. Anyone he considered under his wing would never be left to suffer injustice.
Clearly, Shen Yelin’s indulgence toward Shen Xuan last time was proof enough of her place in his heart.
For so many years, Xie Yun had been trying to squeeze his way into this circle, yet even now, he had only managed to take half a step inside. And that half-step was merely a foothold he had forced open for himself by calculating the other’s temperament and stubbornly pushing his way in.
Maintaining his composure, Xie Yun discreetly observed the person sitting in the passenger seat, who was smiling as he looked over.
He knew this man. After all, in recent years, Yue Lin Group had made a high-profile entry into the entertainment industry, with their cross-industry investments in dramas yielding impressive returns. Almost every project was a masterpiece, achieving high ratings and viewership. As the young president of such a massive conglomerate, Fu Jianyi’s name was practically a household one in the industry.
Countless people wanted to board this ship, but Shen Yelin clearly wasn’t one of them. Xie Yun had never heard of any personal connection between the two before, and rumors of collaboration between Yue Lin and Yaoyu Entertainment had only surfaced recently, hardly suggesting a long-standing acquaintance.
In other words, Fu Jianyi had only known him for a little over half a month, yet already.
Xie Yun felt as if his heart had been stung by something sharp, spreading a numb ache.
He could see the emotions suppressed in the other man’s eyes. These overly obvious and familiar feelings had once appeared on his own face he had stood before a mirror, desperately trying to suppress the jealousy and bitterness that naturally welled up in his heart, ensuring he didn’t reveal too much emotion in front of Shen Yelin.
Fu Jianyi must also like him.
A strong sense of crisis suddenly surged within Xie Yun, making his thoughts race.
The current situation was overwhelmingly unfavorable for him his attitude toward Shen Xuan had been witnessed by Shen Yelin, which would inevitably create some resentment. And with Fu Jianyi, a glaring threat, waiting nearby to kick him while he was down, he had to handle the situation carefully. Otherwise, years of effort could go to waste in an instant.
Pretending not to notice Shen Yelin sitting in the back seat, Xie Yun turned back to Shen Xuan and said, “Thank you for the gift. I’ll take good care of it.” He paused, then added, “Would you like an autograph?”
Shen Xuan’s face lit up instantly: “Really?!”
“Of course,” Xie Yun replied. “I can sign a few more for you to give away in a social media giveaway.”
Shen Xuan was so moved she nearly teared up: “Thank you so much! You’re the best!”
Xie Yun smiled faintly, took the signing cards from his assistant, and quickly signed more than a dozen of them with his head lowered. After tidying them up, he handed them to Shen Xuan. Shen Xuan joyfully accepted the cards but noticed a line of small handwriting on the top one, which read:
“Sorry, I can’t show too much excitement in public. I really like the gift you gave me. Thank you for your support, and you’re welcome to come again in the future.
Xie Yun.”
She looked up in surprise, her watery eyes wide open. Xie Yun gestured for her to keep quiet, signaling her not to say anything. Shen Xuan obediently nodded and happily tucked away the cards Xie Yun had signed for her.
Fu Jianyi noticed the change in her expression, and his wariness of Xie Yun deepened.
He had underestimated Xie Yun after all someone who had managed to break into Shen Yelin’s social circle from being complete strangers was truly not to be trifled with. Xie Yun had even restrained the urge to walk over and greet Shen Yelin, choosing instead to stay and comfort Shen Xuan first. That move was truly clever.
After all, for Xie Yun, his biggest advantage was Shen Xuan’s affection. Given Shen Yelin’s strong emphasis on family, as long as he could keep Shen Xuan happy, the difficulty of getting close to him would drop several levels.
To be honest, Fu Jianyi was quite envious of this advantage Xie Yun possessed. He even began seriously considering whether he should promote the idols from his company to make Shen Xuan switch her fandom to Yue Lin Entertainment.
This thought flashed through Fu Jianyi’s mind but was ultimately abandoned with regret.
Unfortunately, based on the memories in his mind, it seemed every member of the Shen family was deeply loyal. This was both a strength and a weakness. The upside was that if Shen Yelin ever developed feelings for him in the future, he wouldn’t have to worry about others getting close. The downside was that getting Shen Xuan to become a fan of someone else in the short term seemed nearly impossible.
Xie Yun watched the smile on Shen Xuan’s face and said, “If you’re in a hurry, it might be better for you to attend to your own matters first. I’ll be filming here for the next few months. If you’d like to come back for photos or autographs, just coordinate with my manager in advance.”
“Mm-hmm,” Shen Xuan nodded eagerly, her eyes sparkling.
She walked back to the car in her twelve-centimeter heels, her demeanor completely at odds with her heavily made-up face. She knocked on the car window and looked pitifully at Shen Yelin, who sat inside with an expressionless face. “Brother, give me a little more time. Let me take one more photo, okay?”
Shen Yelin said, “Don’t waste anyone’s time. Jianyi is busy.”
Shen Xuan immediately turned to Fu Jianyi, blinking her eyes pleadingly.
Fu Jianyi chuckled softly and said, “It’s fine. A little more time won’t hurt.” He winked at her playfully and added in a light tone, “You owe me one, remember that.”
Privately, however, he clenched his fingers tightly.
Shen Xuan gave him a happy smile and turned to go find Xie Yun. Unexpectedly, as soon as she turned around, she saw Xie Yun, who had been standing in the distance, walking toward them. He wore a look of astonishment and called out in surprise, “Senior?”
Given the timing of this address, it was clear who he was trying to call out to
Shen Yelin slightly raised his eyes and gave a slight nod in acknowledgment. “Good afternoon.”
“Good afternoon.” A sincere smile appeared on Xie Yun’s face as his gaze swept between Shen Yelin and Shen Xuan. “Is this your sister? Or perhaps.” He turned his gaze toward Fu Jianyi. “A friend of President Fu’s sister?”
Fu Jianyi raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t expect Xie Yingdi to recognize me. What an honor.”
Xie Yun offered him a faint smile but didn’t take the bait to continue the conversation. Instead, he looked back at Shen Yelin, waiting for him to explain the relationship between the two.
Fu Jianyi narrowed his eyes, the smile on his lips fading slightly.
This Xie Yun was too clever.
He had seen right through Fu Jianyi’s attempt to steer the conversation away and reduce Shen Yelin’s interaction with outsiders, simply following Shen Yelin’s lead. And Fu Jianyi couldn’t control Shen Yelin’s thoughts he didn’t even dare ask too many questions, afraid that Shen Yelin might distance himself because of it.
After just a brief encounter, Fu Jianyi immediately elevated this youth who still carried a boyish charm to a warning-level threat, decisively kicking the temporarily sidelined Ji Wencheng out of the picture.
This person posed a far greater threat than Ji Wencheng.
Shen Yelin met Xie Yun’s gaze and nodded slightly. “Yes, this is my younger sister, Shen Xuan. Sorry for the trouble.”
“Not at all, you’re too polite,” Xie Yun said. “If I had known earlier that Xiao Xuan was my fan, I would’ve prepared a stack of signed photos at home. I could’ve stuffed them into the car, and she could’ve given them out to as many people as she wanted.”
Shen Xuan was nearly moved to tears. “Thank you! Yunyun, you’re truly the number one idol who spoils their fans!!”
“My pleasure.”
Fu Jianyi watched the two of them, a slight smile curling his lips as he said to Shen Xuan, “Didn’t you say earlier that you wanted to take a photo together? Do you need me to help take a picture of you and Xie Yingdi?”
“Huh?” Shen Xuan was taken aback, hesitantly glancing at Shen Yelin. “Wouldn’t that be a bit inappropriate…?”
With her own older brother right there, how could it possibly be appropriate to have the CEO of Yue Lin take a photo for her? If she agreed, Shen Yelin would surely press her head down and give her a stern lecture as soon as they got home.
The cold smile from an older brother do any of you know how terrifying that is?!
Shen Xuan thought with lingering fear and said, “It’s probably better not to.”
“How about this,” Xie Yun interjected at just the right moment, suggesting, “I’ve finished filming my scenes for today and don’t have any other plans for now. Why don’t I treat you and Xiao Xuan to a meal? I haven’t properly thanked you for last time, senior. We can make up for it today, what do you think, senior?”
The suggestion was perfectly reasonable, leaving not only Fu Jianyi but even Shen Yelin without an excuse to refuse.
However, Shen Yelin didn’t immediately give his answer. Instead, he fell into a brief silence. The intense gazes from both in front of him and outside the car window weighed on him, making his headache grow and causing him to press his lips together in slight displeasure.
He didn’t mind sitting down for a meal with Xie Yun, but he was very concerned about giving the other party any unnecessary misunderstandings.
For instance, right now, his hesitation had clearly given Fu Jianyi a great deal of encouragement.
Despite being subtly targeted by Xie Yun several times, Fu Jianyi maintained his usual composure. He gave a slight, self-deprecating smile and said with good grace, “I’m afraid Xie Yingdi’s kind offer will have to wait for another day.”
Xie Yun seemed not to hear, his gaze fixed intently on Shen Yelin, who remained silent.
Fu Jianyi showed no trace of irritation as he continued, “After all they’ve been playing all day. Though I have plenty of time, Yelin and Xiao Xuan must be quite tired by now.”
He deliberately slowed his speech, lingering on the name “Yelin” with a tone that was both tender and lingering. It was as if boundless affection had turned into a cold blade, piercing straight into the heart of the person before him.
Hearing that address, Xie Yun’s calm expression finally shifted slightly, his eyes snapping sharply toward Fu Jianyi.
