Try Saying You Don't Like It - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Yin Qiuman discovered a perverse pleasure she enjoyed.
She liked seeing He Xinglan getting ruffled because of her. Just like now, the more nervous He Xinglan acted, the more delighted she felt.
“I was just joking.” A smile played on Yin Qiuman’s lips, and her gentle voice acted like magic, instantly calming He Xinglan down.
He Xinglan stared at Yin Qiuman for a long while. Only after confirming that Yin Qiuman was truly joking did the heart she’d held in her throat drop back into her stomach.
“You’d better not make jokes like that again,” He Xinglan picked up a bun and took a big, fierce bite, warning her as if she were biting Yin Qiuman’s flesh: “It’s easy to hurt feelings.”
“If you hurt my heart again…” He Xinglan stopped herself mid-sentence.
She had originally intended to threaten Yin Qiuman with a breakup, but she found that just thinking about those two words made her chest ache uncomfortably.
It was purely a case of wounding the enemy by a thousand but losing eight hundred of her own.
He Xinglan’s mood suddenly became gloomy. She felt that Lin Yue was right: she truly was useless.
She was dumped when she was dumped, and before the wound had fully healed, she reconciled when the other person said so, acting like a lickspittle with surprising speed.
Of course, He Xinglan didn’t see herself that way. At least she had withstood several waves of Yin Qiuman’s seductive provocation before finally surrendering her weapons.
Seeing He Xinglan silent, biting the bun repeatedly as if releasing her frustration, Yin Qiuman suppressed her smile, walked to He Xinglan’s side, and apologized sincerely: “Xingxing, I’m sorry.”
“I shouldn’t joke about our relationship.”
He Xinglan shook her head: “It’s okay. I’m not mad at you; I’m mad at myself.”
Yin Qiuman was momentarily puzzled and wanted to ask for clarification, but He Xinglan had no intention of explaining. When she looked up at Yin Qiuman, she had already returned to her usual energetic self.
“Yin Qiuman, there’s something I want to ask your opinion on.”
“I agree.”
Yin Qiuman was acting as if to make amends, agreeing immediately before He Xinglan even said what it was.
He Xinglan: “…”
“Good thing I wasn’t suggesting anything excessive. Otherwise, with just those three careless words, you’d be setting yourself up for a disaster.”
“But would Xingxing really set me up?” Yin Qiuman looked directly into He Xinglan’s eyes, and that single question left He Xinglan instantly speechless.
He Xinglan rubbed her nose, her tone quite helpless: “Of course, I wouldn’t.”
“Then that’s fine,” Yin Qiuman smiled slightly, her eyes full of satisfaction.
“What was that thing Xingxing wanted to talk about?”
He Xinglan then got down to business: “My friend, Lin Yue—the one I opened the bar with—she saw my Moment and wants to meet you.”
“Is that okay?” He Xinglan asked cautiously.
Even though Yin Qiuman was her girlfriend now, she still wasn’t sure if Yin Qiuman was willing to meet her friends.
Because that would mean they were officially entering each other’s lives.
For He Xinglan, this signified that Yin Qiuman was serious about this relationship.
That she wouldn’t treat this relationship as something to be broken off at a whim.
“Why wouldn’t it be okay?” Yin Qiuman countered.
“Xingxing, I’m your girlfriend, so whether it’s meeting friends or family, as long as Xingxing arranges it, I will go.”
“Because I am Xingxing’s girlfriend.”
“I’m honored to get to know your friends.”
He Xinglan laughed like an idiot after hearing that: “Then I’ll text her right now and tell her to make arrangements!”
He Xinglan’s fingers moved quickly. In the WeChat chat with Lin Yue, she relayed the news of Yin Qiuman’s agreement and casually mentioned Yin Qiuman’s dietary restrictions, earning a big eyeroll emoji from Lin Yue.
He Xinglan didn’t mind. After sending the message, she put down her phone and wrapped Yin Qiuman in a bear hug.
“Yin Qiuman, you are so good,” He Xinglan rested her chin on Yin Qiuman’s shoulder, squinting with an expression of pure enjoyment.
Yin Qiuman laughed softly, her eyes, hidden from He Xinglan, filled with doting affection: “This is already ‘good’?”
But it’s still not enough.
She wasn’t good enough to He Xinglan yet.
Although He Xinglan agreed to date her, Yin Qiuman could feel that He Xinglan’s heart was still floating, not entirely settled in her palm, not tightly grasped by her. So, it was not enough.
He Xinglan happily responded with a “Mm,” saying: “My heart is very small; it’s easy to satisfy.”
So, she didn’t need Yin Qiuman’s whole heart to be focused on her. It was enough for Yin Qiuman to just leave a tiny spot for her in her heart.
She wasn’t greedy.
After breakfast, He Xinglan took Yin Qiuman to visit the scenic spots near the hotel, and the two took quite a few photos together.
Yin Qiuman selected two photos and set them as her phone wallpaper and screensaver respectively.
He Xinglan saw this and immediately selected two photos, setting them as her phone wallpaper and screensaver, just like Yin Qiuman.
After setting them, He Xinglan was full of self-reproach. She had dated quite a few girlfriends, yet she needed Yin Qiuman to do these typical couple things first before she even remembered.
She felt like a little elementary school chick clueless about romance.
However, He Xinglan hadn’t been genuinely serious with those previous girlfriends, so it was natural that she didn’t think of these trivial matters.
So, Yin Qiuman thought of these little things because she seriously valued their relationship?!
Thinking this, He Xinglan immediately declared today the happiest day of her life so far.
Oh no, yesterday was the happiest; today will reluctantly rank second.
Tired from walking, He Xinglan found a milk tea shop to rest. During this time, she received the location information from Lin Yue—the restaurant for their dinner meeting.
He Xinglan checked the restaurant’s menu on her phone in advance. Only after confirming that most of the dishes were suitable for Yin Qiuman did she reply with an “OK” to Lin Yue.
After resting for half an hour at the milk tea shop, the two walked around for a bit longer before taking a taxi to the restaurant Lin Yue had booked.
However, they arrived early.
Lin Yue hadn’t shown up yet.
He Xinglan gave Lin Yue’s name directly, entered the restaurant, and unceremoniously started ordering food right away.
Lin Yue arrived late. Seeing that He Xinglan had already ordered all the dishes, and out of a dozen dishes, only one or two were things she liked, she sighed exasperatedly.
“Misjudged my friends, misjudged my friends! He Xinglan, could you be any more biased?” After scolding He Xinglan, Lin Yue turned to the person sitting quietly beside He Xinglan, her expression becoming serious.
“Hello, I’m Lin Yue.” Lin Yue pushed her hair back, smiling, and extended her hand in a gesture of courtesy toward Yin Qiuman.
“Yin Qiuman. Hello, Lin Yue.” Yin Qiuman also smiled and was about to reach out to shake Lin Yue’s hand when her hand was intercepted midway.
He Xinglan tightly grasped Yin Qiuman’s hand in her own, looking at Lin Yue as if she were a thief: “Knowing each other is enough; no need for handshakes.”
Lin Yue rolled her eyes speechlessly: “Tch, how petty.”
“Fine, no handshake. Do you think I don’t have sisters’ hands to hold?”
“My charm may not be as good as yours, Boss He, but it’s still decent. I have a few admirers too.”
