- Transmigration! The System Wants Me to Pursue the Abstinent Senior Sister
- Chapter 23 - Betraying Your Affection
How could Luoyun Huan possibly resist?
She admitted that humans were shallow creatures, especially after spending time with someone as stunning as her senior sister. She had almost completely fallen for her.
Just imagine?
If a beauty took the initiative to kiss you, how would you react?
You’d feel excitement, unease, but more than anything, you wouldn’t push her away.
Human nature is flawed, and being captivated by beauty isn’t such a big deal otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many celebrities and idols who skyrocketed to fame solely because of their looks.
However, Luoyun Huan still had a thread of rationality in her mind, reminding her of what she was doing.
So she raised her hand, intending to push the other away, her fingertips resting on Qin Yiqiu’s shoulders. After a moment of struggle, she ultimately gave up on resisting, letting her fingers and nails slide down along the smooth fabric.
The tips of Luoyun Huan’s ears and her cheeks flushed red as she became completely lost in the kiss. She had to admit, her senior sister smelled incredibly alluring.
Even when kissing, she was so gentle, unhurried and calm.
It seemed as though once this train had started, it had no intention of stopping. Luoyun Huan only felt a tightness in her chest from lack of oxygen, her mind growing dizzy and unable to form coherent thoughts.
Yet she still didn’t push Qin Yiqiu away. Instead, she fell backward, the back of her head hitting the cold ice bed. Since she fell slowly, it didn’t hurt too much.
After all, as a Qi Refining cultivator, her body was somewhat tougher than that of an ordinary mortal but only to a certain extent.
Qin Yiqiu suddenly realized their positions had shifted. Her junior sister had somehow ended up lying on the ice bed. She froze for a moment, her eyes widening, then she pulled away, creating distance between them.
“I’m sorry.”
She had only intended to test something, how had she ended up getting swept away as well?
Qin Yiqiu, who usually wore an expressionless face, now looked deeply embarrassed. She had gone too far.
“It’s fine.”
Luoyun Huan reached up to wipe the moisture from her lips. If she didn’t, her lips would soon freeze over.
“So, Senior Sister, have you figured it out now? My feelings?”
Luoyun Huan propped herself up on the ice bed with one hand, unable to withstand the cold, and slowly leaned closer to Qin Yiqiu.
“Your heart is beating very fast, and you didn’t push me away. Does that mean Senior Sister has feelings for me too?”
Luoyun Huan had only meant it as a teasing retort, but she hadn’t expected her words to hit the mark. Qin Yiqiu bit her lip, too shy to speak.
But Luoyun Huan thought to herself, With the system’s newbie protection period, I’m not afraid of dying anyway.
So she mustered her courage and boldly flirted with Qin Yiqiu.
“Of course, but Senior Sister, you practice the Path of Emotionlessness. If I really dared to seduce you, I’d end up tied to the sect’s pillar, pierced by ten thousand swords until I die.”
She twirled a strand of Qin Yiqiu’s long hair around her finger.
Her senior sister’s hair was surprisingly smooth, like the finest silk soft to the touch, yet with a slight, almost imperceptible roughness.
It felt like stroking a kitten’s fur.
Perhaps because the cave was so cold, Luoyun Huan’s breath formed little clouds of white mist as she spoke, but her eyes held a bewitching charm, almost hypnotic.
“I won’t let that happen.”
“Listen.”
Qin Yiqiu clenched her hands tightly, as if she had made a decision.
“Yunhuan, the Path of Heartlessness involves a trial of affection, but not everyone must undergo it. Yet, the fact that I’ve developed feelings for you proves I’ve triggered this tribulation.”
Stumbling in a ditch was not unheard of, and Qin Yiqiu accepted this setback from the moment she passed by the bamboo grove, heard the commotion, and chose to intervene.
That was when the seeds of fate were sown.
“So, are you willing to accompany me through this tribulation? But in the end, I will sever these bonds of affection…”
Though she had no desire to become a heartless lover who betrayed others, this was an unavoidable course of action. Rather than evading it, she resolved to face this destined trial of love head-on.
Luo Yunhuan felt that the elder sister’s words sounded very much like a scoundrel’s declaration of future irresponsibility.
Yet, she didn’t dislike it. In fact, she preferred it this way. After all, she too had plans to win over the elder sister. In the end, it remained to be seen whether the elder sister would value the Heartless Technique more or her.
“As long as you need me, elder sister, I will be here.”
Luo Yunhuan reached out, placing her palm over the back of the elder sister’s hand, the warmth of her touch meeting the softness beneath.
“If you hadn’t saved me back then, elder sister, I would have long been framed and wronged by those people. To become your tribulation of affection is an honor.”
“Being abandoned is nothing to fear.”
Such words might have been excessive, but if she were to invite her junior sister to accompany her through this tribulation, such an outcome was indeed inevitable.
“I’m sorry.”
This time, Qin Yiqiu could offer no better response and could only murmur an apology as if speaking to herself.
“It’s alright.”
No sooner had Luo Yunhuan replied than a chill crept up her arms. She hugged herself tightly but couldn’t suppress a sneeze.
She turned her head slightly, her reddened nose fully visible to Qin Yiqiu.
Qin Yiqiu rummaged through her belongings and produced a plain handkerchief, its corner embroidered with a maple leaf, like a solitary leaf quietly falling in the heart of autumn.
“Here, wipe your nose.”
Using the elder sister’s fragrant handkerchief to wipe her nose felt almost improper.
But a runny nose was even less ladylike, so Luo Yunhuan accepted the handkerchief and dabbed her nose with some hesitation.
Now that the two had made their decision, there was no need to linger any longer. Qin Yiqiu was not one to stubbornly cling to futility; she knew that continuing to meditate and cultivate here would only harm her body.
So she stood up and led Luo Yunhuan out of the ice cavern. They ascended step by step, passing a long staircase until they reached the main hall.
Only then did Luo Yunhuan realize that this place was located behind the sect leader’s main hall.
“Why did you suddenly appear in the ice cavern?”
It was only then that Qin Yiqiu thought to ask. The ice cavern was a highly concealed location, known only to the sect leader and a few trusted elders outsiders were unaware of its existence.
“The sect leader brought me here. He said you needed me, elder sister.”
Luo Yunhuan explained with a smile. It seemed now that the sect leader intended to use her as a consumable tool for the elder sister’s cultivation of the Path of Heartlessness.
Qin Yiqiu paused for a moment, understanding her master’s intentions all too well it was merely to help her better navigate the tribulation of affection.
Fortunately, her master had not taken direct action to kill Luo Yunhuan, or she would have regretted it for the rest of her life.
“So that’s how it is.”
Qin Yiqiu replied briefly as they stepped out of the main hall. Compared to the icy cold of the cavern, the world outside was lush with green grass, sunlight filtering through the leaves and scattering dappled shadows on the ground.
Like shards of gold.
It was time to return to her own courtyard now. As for the matter of the love tribulation, she had finally found a way to deal with it.
Qin Yiqiu was brimming with confidence, believing she could ruthlessly sever the ties of affection. Even if she couldn’t, she could always rely on her master to do it.
Once she overcame this love tribulation, all the strange feelings would disappear.
Though she felt sorry for Luo Yunhuan, this was the best way to save herself.
Little did she know, this would become the most regrettable and helpless decision of her life. For love is like going from frugality to extravagance easy to embrace, but hard to let go.
In the days to come, no matter what Qin Yiqiu did, she could never cut loose this love.
