- Chapter 81 - Awakening
The door didn’t open, but the figure approached right in front of her, separated only by a layer of frosted glass. Lin Qi could almost imagine the full view of the beautiful scenery from the blurred outline. Unconsciously, she even softened her breathing.
“What’s wrong?”
Raising an arm to cover her chest, Jiang Ming stood there with wet hair, her entire body flushed pink from the steam and shyness. She curled her toes in embarrassment, not daring to look at the person standing at the door.
“You forgot your bathrobe.”
Her voice grew husky, and her gaze lingered for a moment where the arm blocked the view of Jiang Ming’s chest. Suppressing her desire, Lin Qi cleared her throat. “Open the door. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my eyes closed.”
Jiang Ming wanted to trust Lin Qi, but opening the bathroom door while completely naked…
She didn’t have the courage for that.
Though Lin Qi certainly wanted to do that, she wasn’t some desperate pervert. Seeing the hesitation in the figure behind the door, she turned around and hung the bathrobe on the handle.
“Now you can take it, right?”
Feeling unexpectedly grateful for Lin Qi’s thoughtfulness, Jiang Ming wore a faint smile as she kept one hand over her chest and pushed the bathroom door open with the other.
The back view of Lin Qi in her pink shirt looked incredibly reliable broad shoulders, a slender waist, and long, delicate fingers holding the bathrobe.
*Those fingers might soon. *
Just the thought alone made Jiang Ming’s cheeks flush pink as she took the bathrobe and quickly shut the door again.
The sound of running water resumed in the bathroom. Lin Qi’s mind conjured images of hot water cascading over smooth skin, steam enveloping a perfectly curved body, droplets tracing the slope of the chest down to the abdomen.
Still standing in place, Lin Qi found herself frozen. Only when she turned around did she realize there was a mirror on the desk where the computer sat small, but she had unconsciously glanced into it earlier.
And it just happened to reflect the very spot Jiang Ming had tried so hard to cover.
One hand clearly wasn’t enough. Through the mirror, Lin Qi hadn’t just seen the curve, she’d also caught a glimpse of the soft lines pressed together.
Holy hell!
Shaking her head to dispel the wild thoughts, Lin Qi hurried off to find her own bathrobe, planning to rush into the bathroom the moment Jiang Ming came out.
Her muddled brain couldn’t handle any more stimulation.
Fortunately, when Jiang Ming emerged, the beige bathrobe covered everything except her slender swan-like neck and straight, delicate calves.
Yet when their eyes met, Lin Qi, who had intended to dash straight to the bathroom forgot everything.
Fresh from the shower, Jiang Ming’s already fair and smooth skin glowed with a rosy flush, dewy and radiant. Her pink hair was still damp, combed back in loose strands, revealing delicate brows and eyes unobstructed by bangs. Lin Qi suddenly understood why Wei Xuanyue’s heart raced just looking at that face.
After all, even someone like her, who had seen countless beauties in the entertainment industry, was still stunned after staring for so long.
“I-I’ll dry my hair first.”
Her flustered tone turned the usually seductive and alluring little wildcat thanks to those fox-like eyes, into something more akin to an innocent bunny, as if afraid Lin Qi would pounce on her right then.
Lin Qi chuckled softly, picking up her bathrobe. “Don’t worry, I’m in no hurry. Go ahead and dry your hair. I’ll take a shower.”
No response came not that she expected one. Lin Qi stepped into the bathroom, and soon after, the sound of a hairdryer filled the air.
Another half hour passed, and the two of them had finally finished showering and drying their hair. Lin Qi unplugged the hairdryer and, as if signaling something, turned off the main light in the room.
Soon, only the faint glow of the city nightscape outside the window illuminated the space. What was about to happen needed no explanation.
Slipping off the disposable slippers, she climbed onto the bed with quiet movements. The girl who had been lying there for nearly twenty minutes was still trembling with nervousness, her hands gripping the sheets beneath her tightly, looking utterly lost.
Instead of immediately moving on top, Lin Qi lay on her side beside Jiang Ming, taking hold of the hand that was clenched around the sheets like a lifeline, its knuckles protruding. Gently, she intertwined their fingers.
Jiang Ming had mentally prepared herself for this for a long time. Deep down, she was willing and even eager, but it was still her first time doing something like this. Her body reacted with fear, instinctively resisting.
Fortunately, the one with her was Lin Qi.
Her salvation and light, whose very bones exuded tenderness.
The moment her hand was held, Jiang Ming felt a profound warmth flow into her heart, melting away the fear and resistance, leaving only anticipation behind.
Their lips met, everything unfolding naturally. Lin Qi kept their fingers interlaced as she slowly moved on top, pressing down over Jiang Ming, while her other hand untied the sash of the bathrobe around her waist.
Clothes slipped away, and the night was filled with lingering intimacy.
By the time she woke again, it was already afternoon. Perhaps exhausted, Jiang Ming, who was usually a light sleeper was still asleep in her arms. Having held her all night, Lin Qi’s arm had grown accustomed to the position, and at first, she didn’t even realize she was still embracing her little girlfriend.
She had been a bit unrestrained the night before. Though gentle in her movements, it was her first time indulging, and Lin Qi, who usually held herself back, had kept asking for more until the girl beneath her was driven to tears.
Only when she tasted the saltiness of those tears did she relent, letting the exhausted little wildcat rest, holding and soothing her until she fell asleep.
Neither of them was wearing any clothes. A glance downward revealed the softness of the sleeping girl pressed against her collarbone. Even though they had already shared the most intimate of acts, Lin Qi felt a sudden shyness. She lifted the hand resting on Jiang Ming’s lower back, moving carefully and quietly as she prepared to get up.
Luckily, Jiang Ming truly was worn out, she didn’t wake despite the movement, only puckering her lips slightly in displeasure at the loss of warmth in her sleep.
The very picture of a pampered young girl.
Perhaps, if not for everything she had been through, Jiang Ming would have been just like this a little willful, a little temperamental, but all within the bounds of what Lin Qi found endearing.
Changing into the clean clothes prepared by the production team, Lin Qi had to admit the staff were quite attentive. The outfits in the wardrobe fit her perfectly and were in the simple black-and-white palette she preferred.
After calling the hotel front desk to arrange for food, feeling everything was settled, Lin Qi crouched by the bed and pinched Jiang Ming’s soft cheek.
“Mmm…”
Another murmur escaped as Jiang Ming turned over, her delicate brows furrowing as if disturbed from a pleasant dream.
“Sweetheart, time to wake up.”
Was that Lin Qi’s voice?
Drowsy fox-like eyes fluttered open, the bright daylight instantly filling them with a sparkling, just-awakened innocence.
“Time to get up and eat. We need to go back to camp today to reshoot the third ranking announcement.”
“Ouch ”
As Jiang Ming tried to sit up, a sharp pain shot through her body, forcing an involuntary gasp from her lips.
“What’s wrong? Does it hurt a lot?”
“A little.”
With puppy-dog eyes, the girl on the bed pulled the covers over her exposed skin, clearly seeking comfort from Lin Qi.
“Should I go buy some ointment and help you apply it?”
Lin Qi’s question was utterly sincere, she genuinely thought this was the best solution. But she’d forgotten to account for Jiang Ming’s easily embarrassed nature. In an instant, the girl’s face flushed crimson, and she hurled a pillow in flustered anger. “Don’t even think about it!”
