- Chapter 52 - Plan
The music finally ended, and Lin Qi’s face was nearly stiff from smiling. She dropped the grin, rubbing her sore cheeks in frustration. “Save me, the amount I’ve smiled these past few days adds up to half my lifetime.”
That’s right. After three days in the First Love group, unlike Wei Xuanyue’s naturally sweet face, Jiang Ming’s soft and adorable smile, or Yuan Li’s gentle and innocent demeanor, Lin Qi had been nearly as sullen as the tanned member in their group. While the other five laughed and joked every day, the two of them exchanged silent glances, their eyes brimming with unshed tears.
Jiang Ming leaned in, cupping Lin Qi’s cheeks. “Still not used to it?”
Though she really wasn’t fond of singing sugary-sweet songs, under Jiang Ming’s soft, bright gaze, like that of a little white rabbit, Lin Qi couldn’t bring herself to complain anymore. She just shook her head blankly. “N-no, it’s just, a little unfamiliar.”
Slender fingers gently kneaded her cheeks, and as Lin Qi met those increasingly radiant eyes, Jiang Ming’s encouraging voice reached her ears. “Just hold on a few more days, okay? I think you actually suit this song really well so cute!”
It was rare for Lin Qi to be the one being encouraged and comforted. She felt a little embarrassed at being called “cute.” In her past life and even now, she had only ever embodied two styles: either the handsome, boyish “top energy” or the gentle, intellectual older sister type. She had never played the cute role before.
Before she could respond, Jing Sha’s voice sounded from the doorway. “Tch, can’t even bear to look. You didn’t even close the door, and here you are flirting?”
The cool touch on her face vanished. The person before her withdrew her hand as if shocked, turning her head away to avoid Lin Qi’s gaze, the tips of her ears suspiciously red.
Similarly averting her eyes, Lin Qi slung an arm around Jing Sha’s shoulder before her own face could flush, laughing as if carefree. “What are you talking about? Done practicing the dance?”
Jiang Ming, who had been harboring some unspoken hope, saw Lin Qi’s indifferent attitude and lowered her head again, hiding the disappointment in her eyes. Wei Xuanyue noticed and stepped forward, patting her shoulder comfortingly.
“Practice what? You have no idea, Song Jin isn’t even the leader, yet she struts around giving orders all day, especially giving me the stink eye. So annoying, like anyone actually wants to be in this group!”
“Ah, it’s just because you’re close to me. She hates me too much.”
“Pfft, just jealousy, plain and simple. That petty snake, if it weren’t for wanting to chase after Sister Pei, who’d stick around to put up with her crap?”
After some thought, realizing Tan Yi and Jing Sha were both in the Ember group, Lin Qi adjusted her plans. Calculating the dates, it had already been a month since Wei Xuanyue mentioned Song Jin entering her rut and trying to tear her clothes off. But these past few days, Song Jin had shown no signs of abnormality. That meant the plan could be set in motion within the next couple of days.
After whispering to Jiang Ming, Wei Xuanyue, Jing Sha, and Yuan Li one by one, Lin Qi left the classroom and found a secluded spot, making sure there were no surveillance cameras before waiting for the four to arrive separately.
Once everyone was gathered, Lin Qi spoke. “I’ve talked to Song En. She really does have her reasons, Song Jin is her younger sister.”
Jiang Ming looked shocked. “Song Jin is Song En’s sister?”
“Yes, I heard it from my mom, but she was an illegitimate child. At the time, I didn’t understand what that meant, and I got along pretty well with Song Jin. Maybe because I was the only one who played with her when we were kids, but she actually developed those kinds of feelings for me.”
Recalling it seemed to disgust her, as Wei Xuanyue frowned while explaining.
Lin Qi hadn’t expected Song Jin’s feelings for Wei Xuanyue to have started that way. She nodded and added, “I have a plan now, one that can permanently get rid of Song Jin. But I’ll need your help.”
At this point, Jing Sha was clearly eager, asking expectantly, “What do you need me to do? I’ve wanted to deal with Song Jin for a long time.”
“My plan is this: Jing Sha, you’ll go find Tan Yi later, Xuanyue, you, Yuan Li, you’ll.and finally, Jiang Ming, you just need to cooperate with Song En when she comes to film the vlog at the camp later. Make sure to guide the camera here.”
Hearing this, Wei Xuanyue shook her head. “No, I have to actually let her bite me. Otherwise, there won’t be any evidence. Besides, I’m a beta I can’t be marked. It’s fine.”
“That’s too much of a sacrifice for you.”
“No, if we do it your way, it won’t be enough to sentence her to life imprisonment.”
Before Lin Qi could argue, Wei Xuanyue patted her shoulder. “Relax, I’ll be fine.”
Resigned to Wei Xuanyue’s insistence, Lin Qi adjusted the plan. Then, realizing another potential issue, she asked, “Yuan Li, would this be too difficult for you?”
Yuan Li shook her head, her expression serious. “No. When I was cheated before, you helped me. This time, I’ll help you.”
“Alright. I’ll call Song En later, and once I message you, Jing Sha, you can start the first step.”
After finalizing the plan, the five of them split up, appearing one by one on the surveillance cameras as they returned to their classrooms, pretending to focus on training. This time, Lin Qi genuinely felt happy, a bright smile spreading across her face.
2:00 PM.
In the Spark classroom, the seven girls were clearly divided into three groups. Jing Sha and Tan Yi stayed together, keeping as far from Song Jin as possible neither could stand her arrogance and entitlement.
Soon, feeling the long vibration of her phone’s special notification in her pocket, Jing Sha reached in to silence it. After steeling herself for a moment, she suddenly raised her hand. “Teacher, I have a stomachache. Can I go to the restroom?”
Who would dare refuse the young miss Jing? The teacher nodded quickly, practically holding the door open for her.
Once out of the classroom, Jing Sha headed to the alpha restroom. Tentatively, she peeled off the inhibitor patch on the back of her neck, releasing a faint trace of pheromones before reapplying it. She had just passed the beta restroom thankfully, she’d taken suppressants beforehand, or her nearing heat might have made her the one in trouble instead of Song Jin.
Taking a deep breath, the slightly embarrassed girl pulled out her phone and found the scene where Pei Zhirong confessed her feelings in the drama. Closing her eyes, Jing Sha listened to the gentle, flowing voice, her cheeks silently flushing red.
She looked in the mirror and indeed saw the signs of being on the verge of a rut, lured by an omega’s pheromones. Jing Sha deliberately kept her head down as she exited the alpha restroom. At the entrance of the beta restroom, she feigned difficulty breathing, covered her nose, and peeked inside before running out in apparent distress.
Her face flushed, she dashed back to the “Ember” classroom, still panting heavily, her own lemon-scented alpha pheromones lingering around her.
This reaction immediately alarmed the six other alphas in her group. As planned, Tan Yi was the first to rush over and ask, “What’s wrong?!”
Jing Sha clutched her chest, her face burning red. She shot a wary glance at Song Jin before leaning in to whisper to Tan Yi, though her voice was “uncontrollably” loud “Xuan Yue seems to have undergone secondary differentiation. I saw her in the beta restroom, reeking of omega pheromones. It nearly triggered my rut.”
“What? ”
Shocked and flustered, Tan Yi froze for a moment, giving Song Jin enough time to bolt past her. Watching the figure rush out the door, the two of them sighed in relief.
Though she wouldn’t admit to liking Wei Xuan Yue, seeing how much Song Jin cared for her still inexplicably irritated Tan Yi. She charged out as well, her long legs almost allowing her to overtake the person ahead, but she deliberately slowed down to let Song Jin stay in front.
Arriving at the restroom at the end of the hallway, Song Jin’s eyes gleamed with excitement as she hurried into the beta restroom. This was Wei Xuan Yue in the midst of secondary differentiation, if she could give her a permanent mark now, Wei Xuan Yue would have no choice but to belong to her.
Not to that idiot Tan Yi, or that meddlesome Lin Qi. The thought of those she despised made Song Jin grimace in disgust. But at least Wei Xuan Yue was about to be hers, and Lin Qi was on the verge of being eliminated.
Her foolish older sister really thought eliminating Lin Qi would secure the company for her.
As soon as she entered the beta restroom, the sweet, milky scent of an omega flooded her senses. So this was Wei Xuan Yue’s natural fragrance?
Her grin widened as she tore off her suppressant patch, instantly filling the space with the mingled scents of milk candy and tobacco. Wei Xuan Yue, who had been pretending to be “unconscious,” recoiled in disgust, though betas couldn’t smell pheromones, the invasive sensation was still nauseating. She struggled to push herself back.
Knowing she couldn’t wait for Tan Yi to arrive, Song Jin quickly bared her fangs and pressed them against Wei Xuan Yue’s nape. There was no distinct gland bulge, which puzzled her, she didn’t understand secondary differentiation well. But after a brief hesitation, she bit down anyway.
The invasive sensation of tobacco-scented pheromones flooding her body was unbearable. Wei Xuan Yue fought back, revolted, but had no choice except to endure until Tan Yi arrived.
Fortunately, within seconds, the restroom door was kicked open. Tan Yi stormed in, grabbed Song Jin, and drove her knee hard into her stomach. Even though this was part of the plan, seeing Wei Xuan Yue being violated sent Tan Yi into a rage. She gripped Song Jin’s shoulders and violently kicked her again.
Tan Yi moved too fast. The fleeting pleasure of marking Wei Xuan Yue hadn’t even faded from Song Jin’s mind before excruciating pain took over, her stomach felt as if it had been stabbed by a blunt, wide blade, the agony deep and relentless.
Weakly sprawled on the ground, Song Jin spat out a mouthful of blood, yet she let out a dark chuckle. “What does beating me to death matter? I’ve marked Wei Xuanyue! I’ve marked her! Hahahaha”
Clenching her fists, the urge to land a few more punches surged, but Wei Xuanyue stood up and pulled her back, shaking her head to signal restraint, lest she end up behind bars too.
At that moment, Yuan Li, who had been hiding in the stall, finally emerged. Her face was flushed with weakness, her body exuding the scent of milk candy, the very aroma that had clung to Wei Xuanyue.
The moment Tan Yi caught a whiff of the scent, her face turned crimson. With self-awareness, she dragged Song Jin, whose eyes blazed with unwillingness out of the restroom.
Just then, Tan Yi’s sharp eyes spotted the approaching cameras. Feigning concern, she glanced at the two keeping their distance and called out, “Xuanyue, Jing Sha said you underwent secondary differentiation. What’s going on?”
Now within audio range, Wei Xuanyue “sobbed with reddened eyes” and pitifully explained, “It was Yuan Li. She accidentally went into heat, so I brought her to the beta restroom for safety. But Jing Sha misunderstood and thought I was the one undergoing secondary differentiation. I couldn’t stop her, and Song Jin, she actually believed it! She just barged in and tried to force a permanent mark on me. Thank goodness I’m a beta, wuwuwu.”
