Transmigrated into the Scum Female Consort - Chapter 98
Yun Chi nodded firmly. “I will stay with you. I’ll accompany you all the way back to the Capital, through roads lined with blooming flowers.” And only then, she thought, would she retire having fulfilled her mission.
Suddenly, she wanted to stay by Ye Xuejin’s side for a long time. She wanted to dispel the loneliness currently haunting the Princess and walk that thorny path alongside her.
“I will stay with you.” Ye Xuejin caught those key words, and a bright, tender smile bloomed on her face. Her fingers reached out, pressing against the pulse point on Yun Chi’s wrist.
“Consort, this Princess shall never fail you.”
The moment those words fell, she tightened her grip on Yun Chi’s wrist and pulled. Using that leverage, she leaned her entire weight against Yun Chi’s shoulder.
Yun Chi: “!!!!”
All her previous melancholy and heartache vanished instantly, replaced by utter chaos. Before she could react, her vision was obscured. A soft sensation pressed against her lips. Ye Xuejin leaned in, one hand covering Yun Chi’s eyes and the other curling around the back of her neck, as she placed a careful, light kiss on Yun Chi’s lips.
Then, as if suddenly realizing what she had done, Ye Xuejin’s cheeks flushed crimson. The sudden kiss broke away as quickly as it had begun. Yun Chi’s eyes widened, her eyelashes fluttering against Ye Xuejin’s warm palm.
Dazed, Ye Xuejin let go. However, the person sitting in the chair had already come to her senses and was not about to let her retreat. Two hands locked firmly onto the Princess’s waist.
Yun Chi stood up, pulling Ye Xuejin into her embrace, and decisively lowered her head. A strange yet familiar sensation took hold, enticing them deeper. Yun Chi pressed forward, wanting more. Ye Xuejin’s lips parted slightly, granting silent permission.
Yun Chi tightened her hold, their bodies pressed together without a gap. In a moment of passion, her fingers found a hem of fabric and pulled hard.
Ripppp!
The coarse fabric of the prison uniform couldn’t withstand the force and tore apart.
Yun Chi froze. But in the next second, her heart flared with heat.
“Consort…” A shaky voice and heavy breathing sounded in her ear. Ye Xuejin looked up at her, the desire in her eyes flickering between restraint and indulgence, like a tightrope walker.
Yun Chi’s breath hitched. “I’m here…”
“Consort, it is time to rest.” Ye Xuejin lowered her eyes and leaned into Yun Chi’s chest. “Consort, I…” She didn’t finish the sentence. Though reason had regained the upper hand, her heart felt strangely empty.
Yun Chi let out a long breath—she couldn’t tell if it was disappointment or relief. She stroked the top of the Princess’s head. “What is it?”
“Consort… Consort…” Ye Xuejin murmured, as if the wine was finally taking full effect.
Yun Chi’s heart softened with a protective fondness she didn’t even realize she had. “I’m here. I was too impatient. Let me get you a proper set of clothes.”
Ye Xuejin remained quiet for a moment, clutching the fabric at Yun Chi’s waist. Her voice was low and raspy. “This Princess can change herself.”
Yun Chi: “…” She couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Alright, Your Highness will change herself.”
The laughter dissipated the heavy atmosphere, leaving behind a comfortable warmth.
Outside, Qi Mingyan watched the girl dancing with her blade under the moonlight, her lips curving into a smile. After one last set, Ten Song stopped.
“Strategist!” she called out happily, running over and sniffing the air. The peach scent was stronger. The Strategist and the Princess had more immortal brew. So jealous.
Qi Mingyan, looking slightly tipsy, smiled. “Since Su Da is out, you should rest too. We have important business tomorrow.”
Ten Song wanted to say she wasn’t sleepy and wanted to stay on watch, but seeing Qi Mingyan’s smiling eyes, she grinned. “Okay, I’ll go rest now.”
Qi Mingyan reached out to pat the girl’s head, but suddenly clenched her fingers and pulled back. Ten Song looked confused. “Does the Strategist want to rub my hair like the Consort does?”
Qi Mingyan froze. The Consort has such a habit? Does the Princess know? Before she could think further, her hand was grabbed.
“Strategist, feel free! I washed my hair this morning. If you like it, I’ll wash it every day so you can rub it.” Ten Song leaned down, placing Qi Mingyan’s hand on her head and even nuzzling against it.
Qi Mingyan paused, then gave it a few strokes. “I used to have that habit, like the Consort. But I’ve changed. You don’t need to do this. Go rest.”
She withdrew her hand and turned to see Zhou Qiyue standing by the door. “Xiao Yue, let’s go back.”
Zhou Qiyue stepped aside to let them in, glancing at the girl under the moon. When did Sister-in-law ever have a habit of rubbing people’s hair?
The next morning, the door opened. Everyone looked over, and their eyes collectively landed on Ye Xuejin.
She was no longer wearing the coarse hemp prison garb. Instead, she wore a set of bright red palace robes. Her face was bare of makeup, yet she looked radiant, like a clear moon—striking and noble.
Ye Xuejin calmly took Yun Chi’s hand. Only then did the others notice Yun Chi. Oh, the Consort has new clothes too. (Yun Chi had wished for a set of long blue robes to match).
“Greetings, Your Highness. Greetings, Consort.”
Ye Xuejin nodded coldly, her noble aura restored. “Rise.”
Yun Chi felt a bit ignored. She had dressed up specifically to match Ye Xuejin, yet everyone was only staring at the Princess. Ye Xuejin sensed her mood and turned with soft eyes. “Consort, hold my hand a little lighter. I won’t run away.”
After breakfast, Ye Xuejin gave her orders: “Mingyan, Ten Song, and the Old Madam will follow me to the mine. Xiao Yue, Ten Mei, Ten Zhu, and Ten Ju will stay here to continue training everyone with the crossbows.”
Old Madam Zhou realized the Princess was taking her to force the men of the Zhou family to take a side. She looked ashamed. “Your Highness, I have heard from Mingyan and Xiao Yue. I am truly ashamed. I hope Your Highness will not hesitate to punish them to teach them a lesson.”
Ye Xuejin asked coolly, “How does the Old Madam think I should punish them?”
“Any punishment is deserved. Whether it is a beating or death, I support it wholeheartedly,” the Old Madam said sincerely.
Ye Xuejin’s expression softened. She called Qi Mingyan forward and asked the Old Madam, “If I let Mingyan take charge of the Zhou family’s affairs, would the Old Madam have any objection?”
“Mingyan is wise and steady. I have no objections at all.”
Ye Xuejin looked at her meaningfully. “Since the Old Madam is so reasonable, I am at ease for this trip.”
At the back of the group, Ten Song leaned toward Yun Chi. “Consort, is this Heng saber a gift from the Immortal?”
“Why do you ask?”
Ten Song pulled the blade out slightly. “Because it’s not iron, steel, or copper. Last night, I tried it against Su Da’s steel blade. It snapped his sword in one hit.”
Yun Chi looked at the blade. Modern alloy technology was naturally superior to ancient forging. Then, she noticed a black bead where the hilt met the blade. She pointed it at a tree and pressed it.
Clang! The blade flew out, tethered to the hilt by a silver chain, and embedded itself into the tree. She pressed the bead again, and the blade flew back.
Ten Song’s eyes went wide. “Consort! That is incredible!” With this, her reach extended from close combat to five meters away—longer than a spear!
Yun Chi smiled, then hurried up to Ye Xuejin to share the discovery. Ye Xuejin looked at Yun Chi’s proud face and whispered, “The Consort is observant. Even in your hands, that saber would not be wasted.”
Yun Chi grinned like a fool. “Of course!”
