Transmigrated Into the Cannon Fodder Roommate in a BL Novel - Chapter 5
An Cheng’s strength was exceptionally great—at least, that was the sensation felt by Liu Xin and the other three who were being beaten.
When the wooden staff slammed into their backs, their internal organs felt as if they were splitting apart from the pain. A metallic scent of blood inexplicably rose in their ears and nasal cavities.
The four of them stopped, turned around, and glared with wide, furious eyes at the boy behind them.
Through the gaps between them, An Cheng saw Bai Qing’s figure curled into a ball, protecting his head. The military training uniform was covered in wet footprints. On the hands covering his head, the knuckles had been scraped bloody, forming a sharp contrast with his original cold-white skin tone.
An Cheng’s voice was frigid: “What do you think you’re doing?”
Having been struck by a heavy blow from the mop handle, Liu Xin was fuming. “Who the hell are you? I advise you to leave quickly, or the few of us will beat you to de—”
“I asked you.” An Cheng interrupted by kicking Liu Xin in the stomach, “What are you doing!”
Seeing that the situation was wrong, the other three exchanged glances, planning to suppress and beat him together. The person who had been guarding the door saw that the tide was turning and ran in to join the fight.
As a result, when the mop swept across, not a single one of them managed to dodge. They all grimaced and clutched the places where they had been hit.
An Cheng walked to Bai Qing’s side, hooking his arm under the man’s shoulder with one hand to bring him up. “Bai Qing, does it hurt badly?”
“I’m fine, Cheng-ge. Thank you.” Bai Qing’s voice was trembling. “Let’s go out.”
An Cheng glanced around. “Wait for me a moment.”
He led Bai Qing into a toilet stall and let go once he was steady. “Lock the door. Don’t come out until I tell you to.”
Bai Qing was somewhat dazed but remained very obediently still inside the stall. “Cheng-ge, what are you going to do?”
As the saying goes, a grudge should be settled the day it’s made, otherwise, who knows how long one would have to wait.
An Cheng gripped the mop and walked toward Liu Xin and the others, who were eyeing him like tigers but didn’t dare to step forward.
Forgive my lack of modesty, but in the last world, I transmigrated as a Great General who fought across the north and south; my weapon of choice was the long spear.
To this moment, Bai Qing didn’t understand how all of this had happened.
When he had walked out of the bathroom earlier, five people were standing at the entrance. All of them looked at him with ill intent, pushed him directly inside, and then began to beat him.
He clearly hadn’t met any of them before, let alone offended them.
If it were two or three people, he might have been able to struggle, but with five, he could only endure the beating.
When the pain was at its peak, he even wondered if his father’s creditors had chased him to the school to collect a debt.
Fortunately, An Cheng arrived in time. The injuries on Bai Qing’s body weren’t very heavy; it just hurt a lot at the beginning. As the pain subsided slightly, Bai Qing’s consciousness became much clearer, and he began to worry that Cheng-ge wouldn’t be able to handle them alone and would be bullied.
But outside the stall, the wailing and howling were earth-shattering, yet he couldn’t hear a single sound from An Cheng.
Is Cheng-ge… this powerful?
An Cheng pointed the wet mop at Liu Xin. “Which college? What major?”
Liu Xin had been beaten into complete submission. Lying on the ground, even moving an inch hurt terribly. He hurriedly explained, “We aren’t from Finance University. We just came in to borrow the bathroom.”
An Cheng sneered, his training shoe kicking the man’s leg. “To borrow the bathroom, or to beat people?”
Liu Xin grimaced in pain, but his eyes still darted around. His plain face was full of confusion. “How could we be here to beat people? It’s all a misunderstanding.”
While they were speaking, the noisy sound of human voices suddenly came from outside the bathroom. The sound grew louder and closer; they were about to rush in.
If they saw this scene, it would look like An Cheng was the one beating others.
An Cheng let out a cold laugh in his heart, threw away the mop, clenched his fist, and fiercely…
Punched himself in the face.
The crowd instantly poured into the bathroom. Looking at the water-soaked floor and the six people acting like corpses on the ground, they fell into a momentary silence.
Until a student with slightly less courage screamed loudly: “Ah!! Someone died at Finance University!”
Liu Xin and the other five were actually awake with their eyes open. Although An Cheng hit hard, he wouldn’t actually knock them unconscious. As for why this student screamed that, it was because he saw An Cheng bleeding from the corner of his mouth, lying on the floor with a peaceful expression.
Motionless, exactly like a dead person.
Liu Xin and the others: “…”
A stall door was suddenly opened. A boy in a military training uniform rushed out. His gaze landed on An Cheng, and he froze for a second as if shocked. Immediately after, he ran to An Cheng’s side and crouched down, carefully checking An Cheng’s breathing.
Bai Qing was scared to death. His face was whiter than when he was being beaten, his voice thick with emotion: “Cheng-ge…”
An Cheng knew it was Bai Qing and secretly tugged at his pant leg.
Telling him: I’m not dead.
But the onlookers didn’t know. People began to make frantic phone calls.
“Hello, school hospital? Come to the men’s bathroom near the playground quickly. Someone seems to have died.”
This sentence scared the doctor to death; he rushed out of the office and jumped onto the ambulance.
As the ambulance sped toward the playground, many curious eyes watched the bright lights on the roof, wondering which student had a poor constitution and fainted. It wasn’t until their break that they pulled out their phones and saw the massive headline on the forum.
“Shock! A fight broke out in the men’s bathroom, someone was beaten to death!”
Chen He was originally in a good mood. Sitting to the side, he unscrewed a bottle cap and began to drink water, chatting with those around him about their dreams for university life.
Until a classmate held up a phone for him to see, and his expression suddenly turned ugly.
An Cheng was quickly sent to the school hospital.
On the ambulance, the doctor did a simple check of the injuries. Aside from that punch to the face, he simply couldn’t find any major issues. However, the person just wouldn’t wake up. With furrowed brows and a pale face, he looked like he might die at any moment.
Mainly, An Cheng had a handsome and upright face combined with his usual cool guy aura. No one could imagine he was faking unconsciousness. No one knew that in order to make his complexion look bad, he had been holding his breath.
The doctor asked Bai Qing for details about the fight. Bai Qing lowered his head in pain, his voice carrying sobs: “To protect me, Cheng-ge hid me in a stall. I didn’t see.”
The doctor was busy with his hands while also trying to comfort Bai Qing, patting his shoulder. “Don’t worry too much, he’ll be fine.”
Liu Xin and the other four were also brought to the school hospital, but they were escorted by the security guards who had rushed over. After all, since they only heard that one person had “died,” only one ambulance was dispatched.
There were no marks of a beating on their faces. The security guards thought they had just suffered some bumps and scrapes, so they didn’t call for more ambulances.
Liu Xin had a guilty conscience and didn’t want to go to the hospital. He said the injuries weren’t heavy and he had things to do, but the security guard was a warm-hearted old man who insisted on holding them back. Seeing that their legs and feet seemed a bit inconvenient, he called two more guards to help support them.
Liu Xin and the others were truly helpless now, they couldn’t get away!
An Cheng got off the ambulance and was carried directly to the radiology department. Head and chest CTs were taken together. The films came out quickly and appeared to show no issues.
The doctor pondered, worried about some hereditary medical history, and called a nurse to draw An Cheng’s blood.
An Cheng felt a sliver of danger. He suddenly opened his eyes and took a deep breath, looking as if he were drenched in sweat and utterly exhausted. He looked weakly at Bai Qing: “Where is this?”
An Cheng’s acting was exceptionally good; even Bai Qing became a little uncertain. “Cheng-ge, this is the school hospital.”
An Cheng lowered his eyes and fell into silence.
There seemed to be a hint of loneliness around him, the bitterness of being bullied but being poor at words and unwilling to express it. He spoke hoarsely: “Doctor, I’m fine now. Let me be quiet.”
How could the doctor leave easily? He performed another check and, after confirming there were no issues, left suspiciously.
Bai Qing very considerately saw the doctor out. “Sister, I’ll take care of Cheng-ge. Don’t worry.”
After the doctor stepped out, a young nurse followed behind him, hesitating to speak.
The doctor asked with a smile: “What do you want to say?”
The young nurse: “That student was unconscious just now, and now he’s miraculously fine. It’s a bit… unsettling.”
“What’s there to be unsettled about?” The doctor rubbed his forehead somewhat helplessly. “That kid was faking it.”
“Let’s go see the others.”
Not long after they left the ward, An Cheng jumped off the hospital bed, perfectly lively.
Bai Qing walked to the bedside to look at him. “Cheng-ge’s acting is so good, I was almost scared to death.”
An Cheng waved his hand.
Forgive my lack of modesty, but I once served as a teacher to a Movie King.
An Cheng pressed down on Bai Qing’s thin shoulders, seating him on the bed.
Bai Qing was a bit confused as he watched An Cheng half-kneel in front of him, open the cabinet next to the hospital bed, and skillfully take out iodophor, bandages, and cotton swabs. He even went to the bathroom to wash his hands for disinfection.
When he returned and held Bai Qing’s wrist to examine it, his palms carried a hint of coolness.
Bai Qing lowered his head somewhat timidly, watching An Cheng use an iodophor-soaked swab to disinfect his hands.
The skin on several of his knuckles was broken. Logically, it should have hurt, but now he only felt a slight itch, and the muscles in his hands unconsciously felt sore and numb.
Bai Qing bolstered himself and said in a light tone: “Thank you, Cheng-ge.”
An Cheng’s tone was very flat, same as usual: “You’ve already called me ‘Brother,’ it’s only right.”
Within that shallow flatness, there was a hint of warmth, much like the summer sunlight slanting into the cool ward—gentle and calm.
After finishing with the hands, An Cheng looked up, his light brown eyes reflecting Bai Qing’s figure.
“Your body.”
“Huh?” Bai Qing didn’t react.
“The injuries on your body. Let me see.”
Bai Qing was a bit embarrassed. He had never gone shirtless; even when it was hot during basketball, he didn’t lift his shirt. He was quite conservative in this regard.
But Cheng-ge was doing this for his own good. Looking at injuries wasn’t doing anything else, it was nothing.
Bai Qing began to unbuckle the belt outside his clothes.
An Cheng noticed Bai Qing’s eyes darting away and his earlobes turning faintly red, and realized something was wrong.
“Bai Qing, are you gay?” An Cheng asked directly.
In the novel, the protagonist shou was always forced; his orientation was never explicitly stated. If Bai Qing was gay, then asking him to undress in front of him—what was the difference between that and asking a girl to undress in front of a boy?
Bai Qing’s hand gripping the belt tightened; it was a bit difficult to speak.
He lowered his head, filled with shame: “Yes.”
An Cheng nodded. “Then I’ll get a nurse to help you look.”
An Cheng gentlemanly stepped out into the hallway and troubled a nurse sister.
Bai Qing’s face was still flushed red. In front of a girl, won’t I still be shy?!
An Cheng stood in the hallway for a while until Li Yu’s call came through. “An Cheng, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
The other end of the line let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good. Where are you guys now? This matter has blown up today, the counselor needs to see you.”
