Transmigrated Into the Body of a Sickly Villain's Kitten - Chapter 7
Shi Yao had fallen ill.
Before Ke Fan and Guan Jin helped her back to her room, her eyes remained fixed on Fu Rou.
It wasn’t until Fu Rou followed them that Shi Yao slowly closed her eyes, a faint, satisfied smile lingering at the corners of her lips.
After Ke Fan gradually stabilized Shi Yao’s chaotic heart meridian and confirmed her breathing had calmed, he turned to Liang Zhuo, Guan Jin, and the cat obediently perched on the nearby cabinet. After a moment’s thought, he stood up and whispered, “Let’s step outside to talk. We shouldn’t disturb the Master’s rest.”
Fu Rou nimbly hopped to the floor, as if intending to follow them out.
The three demons and the cat stood in the courtyard. Ke Fan crouched down and asked Fu Rou, “Immortal Lord, do you… still remember the past?”
Guan Jin chimed in from the side, “What kind of Immortal Lord is she? I even called her that a couple of times earlier, but she’s just a spy sent by those immortal sects. She even thought this place wasn’t fun and wanted to leave. It’s because of her that the Honored Master vomited blood, she had been doing better these past few years!”
Ke Fan wore an expression of disbelief. He looked up at Guan Jin and said, “Over the years, they’ve sent us no less than a hundred, if not a thousand cats. Have you ever seen the Lord bring one back? Isn’t that enough to prove the point? This cat is clearly the reincarnation of the Immortal Lord, recognized by the Honored Master! Maybe she lost her memories for some reason but still retains a trace of spiritual awareness. Even if she was sent as a spy, if the Lord likes her, what can we say?”
Guan Jin fell silent. Liang Zhuo poked his head in and asked, “So, is this the cat the Honored Master has been longing for all these years?”
Ke Fan shook his head. “I don’t know. But there are many matters we simply shouldn’t interfere with. This is between the Immortal Lord and our Honored Master. As subordinates, we should ask less and do more.”
Wow, is this the self-awareness of a corporate drone?
Even the little kitten was shocked.
Guan Jin looked at the quietly waiting cat and hesitantly asked, “Are you really the Immortal Lord?”
Ke Fan was practically exasperated by this peony demon. “Didn’t I just say this is between the Immortal Lord and our Honored Master? We shouldn’t meddle too much. How much clearer do I need to be?”
Guan Jin lowered his head and said nothing more. Ke Fan let out a long sigh, shaking his head helplessly. “You’re too hot-tempered. You still need more cultivation.”
Fu Rou glanced at Guan Jin and noticed he looked like a defeated rooster, utterly dejected.
She found it somewhat amusing and let out a couple of meows. The three demons turned to look at her. Fu Rou trotted over to Guan Jin and waved her pink little paw. Guan Jin pursed his lips and took out a tablet.
The little kitten slowly typed out a line: Can you tell me everything you know?
Fu Rou desperately needed to understand the current situation.
Since she had already promised not to leave Shi Yao, there was no turning back now.
Fu Rou had a go-with-the-flow personality, but she wasn’t the type to cross a river by feeling for stones. She couldn’t proceed without any understanding of the current plot.
So, they returned to the playroom Shi Yao had prepared for Fu Rou. Liang Zhuo began cleaning the carpet while the other two demons started recounting everything they knew over the years.
Seven hundred years ago, the world was rich with spiritual energy, making it suitable for cultivation. Every individual possessed a modest amount of this energy.
However, the spiritual energy in the world was finite and gradually dissipated over time. The immortal sects, which relied on this energy for cultivation, naturally did everything in their power to preserve it. Yet, no matter what methods they employed, they could not halt its eventual extinction.
Later, a pair of “calamitous deities” emerged, absorbing most of the world’s spiritual energy and preventing others from cultivating. This led to their being besieged by all the major immortal sects and clans.
One of the calamitous deities went missing after the joint efforts of the immortal sects, while the other was sealed away in Wuqi Mountain, the place with the most abundant spiritual energy.
They sealed the great demon in Wuqi Mountain to preserve the world’s spiritual energy, allowing some to continue cultivating up to the present day.
Upon hearing this, Fu Rou felt something was amiss.
The overall plotline was no different from the novel she had read before, both spoke of the gradual dissipation of spiritual energy and the protagonist’s efforts to preserve it, all while navigating love, cooperation with various immortal sects, and settling old scores. However, from this new perspective, it seemed possible that the two protagonists had been exploited by those immortal sects.
Still, this was merely speculation. Ke Fan’s account was from his own viewpoint and couldn’t be fully trusted.
The first time I saw the honored master, she was meditating and cultivating in the back mountains. Her aura was chaotic, likely due to severe internal injuries. Though I had been cultivating in Wuqi Mountain for many years, isolated from the outside world, I had heard some rumors. Those old-timers in the cultivation world were growing increasingly arrogant and unrestrained for their own selfish gains.”
Wuqi Mountain was abundant with spiritual herbs. Ke Fan, who practiced the medical arts, managed to heal Shi Yao’s external injuries, but her internal injuries could only be partially treated, with the rest suppressed as best as possible.
After Shi Yao arrived, many of the mountain’s inhabitants couldn’t withstand the oppressive aura she brought with her and chose to leave for other places. Strangely, Ke Fan felt nothing and continued to reside peacefully in Wuqi Mountain.
Later, Shi Yao settled in the ancient mansion atop the mountain. Ke Fan would occasionally visit her, and as the mountain’s other inhabitants gradually departed, he eventually moved into the mansion as well.
Shi Yao, by nature aloof, remained indifferent to how many people or creatures lived in the mansion.
Day after day, year after year, she would sit on the rooftop, gazing at the sky, enduring the pain in her heart and the profound loneliness around her.
When members of the demon realm tried to contact her through various means, she paid them no mind.
As for Liang Zhuo and Guan Jin, they were brought back by Ke Fan.
They had only recently taken human form and were still unstable. Outside Wuqi Mountain, the environment was unsuitable for cultivation, and without the backing of a clan or faction, they would only face bullying.
Liang Zhuo, who enjoyed tidying up, gradually restored order to the ancient mansion, while Guan Jin planted numerous plants. The two seemed to find contentment in their lives there.
As time passed and technology advanced, more amenities were added to the mountain. Some members of the demon realm began contacting Shi Yao through the internet, seeking her help in managing certain demon realm affairs.
The demon clans revered Shi Yao as their lord, and the little spirits around her also began addressing her as such.
Several hundred years passed in the blink of an eye, and the three spirits had gradually grown accustomed to this peaceful, monotonous life. However, ever since their lord brought this cat back, they all felt a vague sense of unease.
As if… something was about to happen.
Ke Fan had been at Wuqi Mountain for many years. Though he didn’t always agree with Guan Jin’s methods, their thoughts often aligned unexpectedly.
He, too, was curious whether this cat was the Yun Mi Immortal Lord that Shi Yao had murmured about in her dreams.
If it was, then they, as subordinates, would need to have a serious talk with this immortal lord who seemed intent on leaving their lord’s side. If not…
It would be better for the cat to leave sooner rather than later.
“That’s all I know.”
Ke Fan stopped there, his gaze clear as he looked at Fu Rou. The unspoken words hanging in the air were: Now it’s your turn to speak.
Fu Rou painstakingly typed on the tablet: I have no idea who I am. After I woke up, I lived in the back mountains with another cat until now, and then I was brought here. This place is too eerie, I’m scared, I want to leave, and I don’t know anyone.
Ke Fan scratched his antlers, suddenly feeling that things had become rather complicated.
Was this little kitten truly clueless, or was she deliberately hiding something from them?
Liang Zhuo, who had been cleaning the carpet nearby, finally finished and came over. Seeing the words Fu Rou had typed, he asked, “But didn’t you promise our lord that you’d stay with her? Are you still planning to leave?”
Fu Rou: “…”
Why bring up the one thing she didn’t want to talk about?
She typed again: Anyway, I’m not a spy from the immortal sect, nor am I an immortal lord, and I still don’t know who I am.
After typing that, Fu Rou ran to the scratching post to knead it, too lazy to pay any more attention to the three demons.
At this point, Fu Rou staying was a done deal. Ke Fan knew that pressing further might not yield any answers, especially since the little cat couldn’t communicate with them properly yet, she could only meow, and typing was too much of a hassle. It was exhausting.
So, after their conversation, they all went about their own business.
The kitten was currently in the weaning stage, and her teeth were slowly coming in. Liang Zhuo came over to feed Fu Rou some milk cake and minced meat. Watching her eat heartily, he said with genuine sincerity, “I don’t know what’s going on in the heads of Ke Fan and Guan Jin, but since you arrived, our honored master has been much happier than before. If our honored master is happy, I’m happy. Stay here, and in a few hundred years, you’ll probably be able to cultivate a human form like me! By then, having you by her side will surely make our honored master even happier! Keep it up~ I’ll prepare some delicious meat for you tomorrow!”
Liang Zhuo seemed a bit simple-minded, but his thoughts were clear.
After finishing her meal, Fu Rou played by herself for a while. When she got tired, she curled up in her little green dinosaur-shaped cat bed and began to ponder her life as a cat.
Forced fruit never tastes sweet. She, this “fruit,” had been coerced into making a vow to stay here, and she had no idea what the future held.
After hearing Ke Fan’s words, Fu Rou had a strong feeling.
Youyou probably wasn’t coming back. The cat she had transmigrated into might be Youyou’s reincarnation.
Otherwise, how could she explain Shi Yao bringing her back the moment she saw her?
It must be a bond of fate.
Some people, even separated by mountains and seas, even with changed appearances, can recognize each other at a glance.
But why did it have to be her?
Does this count as tearing apart my favorite CP with my own hands?
So deeply sinful.
Fu Rou was somewhat flustered by the wild conjectures swirling in her mind.
She curled up in the cat bed and slowly drifted into sleep, where she saw many scenes.
Those scenes seemed veiled by a thick fog, blurry and indistinct, but as Fu Rou watched, her heart ached sharply, as if she couldn’t breathe.
She jolted awake abruptly.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Shi Yao sitting beside her, quietly watching her.
“What did you dream about? I saw your paws flailing, so I woke you up.”
“Meow~” Are you okay now?
Perhaps Fu Rou’s meow was too soft and adorable, making Shi Yao think the cat was concerned about her. She replied, “I’m fine, it’s nothing serious. The moonlight is lovely tonight. How about I take you to the rooftop to enjoy it?”
Before Fu Rou could respond, Shi Yao scooped her up into her arms. With a light step, they were already seated on the rooftop.
Fu Rou looked up and saw the bright, luminous moon.
Shi Yao gently stroked the furry bundle in her arms, her voice tender and lingering: “Others might not recognize you, but how could I not? Our souls are intertwined. As long as you’ve returned, I can feel it. So, there’s absolutely no mistake.”
