Transmigrated Into the Body of a Sickly Villain's Kitten - Chapter 31
When Fu Rou woke up and opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Shi Yao still sitting beside her.
Shi Yao had been in that same position even before she closed her eyes, had she not moved at all since then?
“What are you staring at me for?” Fu Rou’s tone wasn’t sharp, just genuinely curious.
“Your face.” Shi Yao went over and helped Fu Rou sit up, letting her lean against her shoulder. “You once told me you were as beautiful as a fairy, and I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time.”
No girl is indifferent to how others perceive her appearance. Hearing Shi Yao speak only half her thoughts, Fu Rou felt a knot of anxiety and retorted, “So? Are you disappointed? Do I look nothing like you imagined?”
“You’re even more beautiful than I imagined.”
Fu Rou’s beauty didn’t just come from her face, but from the aura she exuded, a confident, radiant, and straightforward charm that made Shi Yao adore her more the longer she looked.
While Fu Rou was asleep, Shi Yao had completely turned into a “wife-gazing maniac.” Her gaze swept over Fu Rou’s brows, eyes, nose, and chin, her eyes filled with tender affection.
Even now.
Fu Rou felt as if Shi Yao’s gaze could melt into a pool of spring water, rippling restlessly in her heart.
But she remained stubborn, muttering under her breath, “That sounds a bit perfunctory.”
Shi Yao: “…”
It seemed she needed to practice her sweet-talking skills more. Otherwise, Youyou wouldn’t just be unsatisfied, she’d be unhappy.
Back when Fu Rou was still a little kitten, Shi Yao could easily flirt with her. But now, looking at Fu Rou’s face, many words got stuck in her throat.
Only being straightforward seemed to avoid awkwardness.
As Fu Rou got up to leave the bed, the long black robe she was wearing felt cumbersome for the first time. She lifted her hand, staring at the golden embroidery on the sleeve, and turned to ask Shi Yao, “Do you have any clothes here that I can wear?”
“Let me look?”
While Shi Yao rummaged through the closet, Fu Rou took off the robe and carefully laid it out on the bed. Her fingers gently traced the smooth fabric as she sighed, “Aside from Fei Lian, you’re the only thing that’s stayed with me this long. I’ll find a proper hanger for you later, maybe you could even be displayed as an artifact in an exhibition.”
She slowly removed the golden hairpins and tasseled ornaments from her hair, lowering her gaze to look at her white locks.
Not bad, she thought. No need to dye her hair, natural hair color always looked cool.
Shi Yao’s closet was filled with identical outfits, so finding something for Fu Rou to wear shouldn’t have been difficult. Yet, she felt strangely hesitant.
After waiting for a long time without hearing any movement from Shi Yao, Fu Rou walked over and found her standing frozen in front of the closet.
“How could I forget? You have so many identical dresses, probably nothing that would fit me.”
“I’ll conjure an outfit for you.”
Being an immortal, after all, she had the ability to create a set of clothes.
With a turn, Fu Rou found her plain white undergarments transformed into a JK uniform, revealing her fair, slender arms and long legs.
“Do you like this style?”
After walking up to the mirror, Fu Rou struck a pose. Though she wasn’t as tall as Shi Yao, her figure was well-proportioned, with long, slender calves. The dress looked quite lively on her.
Thinking Fu Rou wasn’t satisfied, Shi Yao changed her into another outfit.
“A sailor uniform, it’s pretty cute too.”
“A swimsuit? And so revealing, are you serious? What’s next, lingerie?”
Fu Rou, the one being dressed, showed no trace of shyness, while Shi Yao, the one dressing her, had ears so red they looked as if they were about to drip blood.
But Fu Rou seemed to enjoy playing with fire. She turned and walked over to Shi Yao, placing a hand on her shoulder. “So, you were watching me sleep while thinking about these things? Are you playing some kind of dress-up game with me?”
As Fu Rou moved her arm, the view at her chest seemed on the verge of spilling out. Shi Yao didn’t know where to look. Seeing Shi Yao so flustered, Fu Rou burst into laughter. “Alright, I’ll wear the first outfit for now. Once we go down the mountain, you can buy me some clothes.”
Right now, she seemed like a desperate otaku with no new dresses to wear, stuck waiting for the thunder tribulation to pass before she could leave the mountain.
“Fine, I’ll buy you lots.”
Back when she was a cat, Fu Rou had leaped around the mansion without a care, never feeling tired. But now that she was in human form, she insisted on dragging Shi Yao around for another tour.
Shi Yao felt that Fu Rou truly embodied the phrase “delicate and soft.”
She clung to Shi Yao’s arm, pressing close as they walked. Passing through the corridor, she remarked, “That patch of dark clouds above us probably won’t clear anytime soon. In seven days, we’ll both face the thunder tribulation. We might not see the sun for a while.”
“I thought you were the one who summoned those clouds.”
“Nope, they just happened to drift over. It’ll make calling down lightning easier for me.”
They arrived at the kitchen, where Liang Zhuo usually spent his time. The ancient mansion was now empty of others. Fu Rou went in and grabbed two bottles of soda, handing one to Shi Yao before pulling the tab off hers and chugging half the bottle in one go.
Watching Fu Rou’s blissful expression, Shi Yao took a sip as well but didn’t taste anything particularly special.
Fu Rou rummaged through the cabinets for snacks while Shi Yao leaned against the counter, calm and composed, a faint smile playing on her lips.
“When I first arrived, my mind was still hazy. I kept thinking this place was an illusion. Who would’ve guessed the world I lived in before was the carefully crafted fantasy? You’ve been here all these years, judging by your reaction earlier, have you never had soda before?”
“No, I’ve never been interested in these things.”
All these years, Shi Yao’s mind had been occupied solely with Youyou. Aside from necessary modern conveniences, she paid little attention to anything else.
Fu Rou sat on the floor, pulling a carton of yogurt from the fridge. A milky ring clung to her lips, making her look no different from a little kitten.
“So, what are you interested in? Oh, right, didn’t you used to love going out and having fun? Your business ventures took you everywhere. Have you really turned into a complete homebody after all these years on the mountain?”
Shi Yao walked over and sat beside Fu Rou. “I never understood what it meant to lose before, so I didn’t know how to cherish. Now, all I want is for you to stay by my side, I ask for nothing more.”
Her words carried a tinge of sorrow that was hard to miss. Fu Rou set down the empty yogurt container and reached out to hold Shi Yao’s hand. “Once we get through the thunder tribulation, let’s go out and have some fun, okay?”
“Alright. Anywhere you want to go is fine.”
Fu Rou smiled, her eyes crinkling. Shi Yao raised her hand and gently wiped away the traces of yogurt at the corner of Fu Rou’s lips.
“I’ve already settled Liang Zhuo, Ke Fan, Guan Jin, and Zhou Ping. After this thunder tribulation, this ancient mansion will likely be completely destroyed. I’ve already found a mountain location to move to. But since you want to live in the human world, I’ll make arrangements as quickly as possible.”
Her words sounded incredibly reassuring.
Fu Rou couldn’t help but reflect. In that dimension where she was the owner of a cat café, her greatest wish was to become a cat and spend the rest of her life with a steady, reliable, and beautiful girlfriend.
Looking at it now, it seemed all her wishes had come true.
In the medicine hut, Ke Fan had taken all his herbs away, leaving the place looking vast and empty. After touring the ancient mansion, Fu Rou took Shi Yao’s tablet and made a video call to Liang Zhuo.
As she sat waiting for the call to connect, Shi Yao played with Fu Rou’s hair behind her. Fu Rou’s white hair was fine and silky, and Shi Yao thought about tying it into a ponytail, her wrist already adorned with a few hair ties.
Liang Zhuo answered the video call quickly. When he saw Fu Rou, he immediately called over He Qingye, who was sitting nearby.
“Oh? You’re both here?”
Fu Rou had originally intended to ask Liang Zhuo if he had any hidden snacks left, but seeing He Qingye’s tearful expression made her head ache. “Qingye, you still haven’t broken the habit of crying without saying a word?”
“Your Majesty, please don’t tease Qingye.”
Just as He Qingye was about to say more, she noticed Shi Yao, who had been playing with Fu Rou’s hair, suddenly lean in close beside Fu Rou, facing the camera. Her gaze was deep and piercing, like an arrow that could strike through a target and read one’s heart.
This jealous soul could get envious over anyone. Seeing Fu Rou being kind to anyone else made her uneasy, as if afraid someone might snatch something precious from her.
Fu Rou reached up and gently stroked Shi Yao’s cheek to soothe her, then said to the people on the screen, “Alright, alright, I won’t tease you. Liang Zhuo, the meat and freeze-dried treats you prepared for me over such a long time were absolutely delicious. I haven’t thanked you yet.”
During his recent trips down the mountain, Liang Zhuo had fully learned about Youyou’s past identity. When his name was mentioned, he stood up excitedly and said, “Thank you for your approval! I’ll work even harder in the future!”
“Ah, the demon realm is gone now, why are you all still so formal? Seeing you all living well truly makes me happy. Some of my wishes have been fulfilled, and I feel deeply comforted.”
Shi Yao had tied Fu Rou’s hair into twin ponytails, so as Fu Rou spoke, her words lacked any imposing tone and instead carried a slightly peculiar charm.
Fu Rou had been staring intently at one spot, but as soon as she lifted her gaze to the camera, she saw the twin tails, one high, one low. Turning her head, she said to Shi Yao, “You really are a full-blown otaku, going straight for the twin tails as soon as you get the chance.”
Would she have to make a gesture and say “Nico Nico Shi Yao” to satisfy her?
Taking a deep breath, Fu Rou ignored the hairstyle and asked Liang Zhuo if there was anything edible left in the house. Ever since she had taken human form, she had been feeling extremely hungry. Unfortunately, she couldn’t go down the mountain to eat, the dark cloud above her head would follow her everywhere. It was best not to move around and cause a commotion.
After thinking for a moment, Liang Zhuo replied, “Guan Jin’s room is stocked with plenty of snacks and food. There’s also a lot of frozen meat in the fridge that hasn’t been thawed yet. But I’m sure that still won’t be enough for you, right? Should I prepare something and bring it over?”
“Ah, no need. Mingshan Mountain is full of strange formations right now. You definitely shouldn’t get caught up in them. After this thunder tribulation passes, this place will probably be reduced to ashes. You all should just stay put.”
“Your Majesty, Xue Qingxian said he has already escorted God Wushuang to Qingxu Temple and asked if there’s anything you need him to do.”
Mentioning Qi Wushuang, Fu Rou leaned back slightly, her brows furrowing lightly. “It’s good that she’s been sent over. I originally wanted to kill her, but I can’t bear the sin of deicide. Once I’ve settled the score, that’s enough. As long as she doesn’t cause trouble in the future, I won’t bother with her.”
“After the thunder tribulation passes, will you and the Sovereign come down to the city to live?”
“That…” Fu Rou glanced at Shi Yao sitting beside her on the screen and chuckled softly. “It depends on someone’s arrangements.”
After ending the video call, Fu Rou picked up a mirror to look at the ridiculous hairstyle and shook her head helplessly. “Your hands are really something.”
Just as Shi Yao was about to reach out and undo Fu Rou’s hair, Fu Rou grabbed her wrist. “Hey, don’t. I’m going to keep this hairstyle just to annoy you. After all, I can’t see it myself~”
This self-sabotaging personality of hers was probably never going to change. Not wanting to go to Guan Jin’s room to get food, Fu Rou thoroughly ransacked the kitchen instead. Looking at the table full of raw meat and bones, she was deeply moved.
“Liang Zhuo really goes all out when it comes to raising cats. Look at how much he prepared for me, it might last me half a year.”
For a little cat’s stomach, it would indeed take a long time to finish, but in human form, it would probably only last a few days.
Shi Yao wrapped her arms around Fu Rou from behind, resting her chin on Fu Rou’s shoulder in a soft, affectionate manner. “I’ve also put a lot of effort into raising you. Once we go down the mountain, do you want to see the aquaculture farms under my management?”
“What aquaculture farms?”
“You like fish, right? I own a stretch of sea that’s been developed into aquaculture farms. Whatever fish you want to eat, I can have them caught for you.”
Fu Rou: “…”
Wow, did she just land herself a domineering CEO?
