Transmigrated Into the Body of a Sickly Villain's Kitten - Chapter 29
“Hua Yufeng! With me here today, don’t even think about wreaking havoc!”
When Qi Wushuang arrived, she saw the cultivators from various sects being torn apart by demons. Pointing her sword at Shi Yao, she demanded, “Why aren’t you saving them?!”
Shi Yao took out a silk cloth and blindfolded herself. “I wish they’d all die. Yet you ask me to save them, how utterly self-centered and unreasonable you’ve always been.”
Upon seeing Qi Wushuang, Hua Yufeng ordered the demons to ignore the cultivators and focus their attacks on her.
If Qi Wushuang hadn’t been trapped in the formation’s core, these demons wouldn’t have been able to absorb spiritual energy and strengthen themselves today.
“Shi Yao! This is your doing!”
Shi Yao lazily twitched her fingers resting on the arm of her chair, a faint smile curling her lips. “Hua Yufeng, wasn’t all of this part of your plan? Why are you panicking now?”
Qi Wushuang’s sword suddenly shot toward Hua Yufeng, who blocked it with her curved blade. “Oh great deity,” Hua Yufeng said to Qi Wushuang, “why don’t we join forces to eliminate this evil goddess first, then settle our own scores? I promise you, once this is over, I will no longer lead these demons to cause chaos.”
“The very reason the great war between immortals and demons began was because demons broke their promises, left the demon realm without permission, and brought calamity to the human and demon worlds. Eventually, even the celestial realm was thrown into turmoil. What credibility do any of you have? Do you know why the demon empress can lead the demon realm as an equal to the celestial realm? Because she governs far better than you.”
Though Shi Yao didn’t join the fight, her sharp words continued to strike.
Seeing her provocation fail, Hua Yufeng hatched another scheme. Attacking Qi Wushuang, she called out to Shi Yao, “Shi Yao! Qi Wushuang and Shen Xiaobai joined forces to seal you away back then. Don’t you want revenge?”
At this, the smile on Shi Yao’s face slowly faded.
Hua Yufeng thought she had stirred Shi Yao’s anger, but Shi Yao replied, “If I truly sought revenge, I would have destroyed heaven and earth. But I no longer wish to do so. She once told me that if revenge doesn’t bring me happiness, I should stop. An eye for an eye only perpetuates the cycle. It’s only now that I understand this, perhaps too late. If she can forgive me, I would do anything.”
Hearing Shi Yao’s heartfelt soliloquy, Hua Yufeng couldn’t help but lament how hopelessly lovesick she was!
Abandoning any further attempt to negotiate with Shi Yao, Hua Yufeng decisively sliced her palm and used her blood to awaken greater power in the demons.
“Go! Tear them all apart and turn them into nourishment for our demon clan!”
Qi Wushuang was not entirely at ease facing Hua Yufeng and the horde of demons lunging at her.
The formation had drained nearly a third of her cultivation. If Shi Yao hadn’t placed the Yingniao Bell somewhere other than the highest peak of Wuqi Mountain, she might never have escaped the formation.
Shi Yao was a person of complex character, neither wholly good nor evil, and impossible to read. Her actions seemed aimless, driven purely by whim.
Could it be that Shi Yao had saved her only to watch her and the demons destroy each other, so she could then reap the rewards?
But there was no time to worry about that now. If these demons weren’t eliminated, the mortal realm would face immense turmoil.
This was absolutely not what Qi Wushuang wanted to see.
The spreading mountain fires here were taking too great a toll on her. Her nostrils were filled with thick smoke, causing significant harm.
Shi Yao suddenly stood up. The chair she had been sitting on transformed into thousands of fine threads, shooting toward the demons.
The demons’ hides were incredibly thick, and Shi Yao’s attack only managed to graze their skin lightly.
Hua Yufeng was overjoyed upon seeing Shi Yao’s strike.
How could she have forgotten that Shi Yao was still in her weakened state?
But Hua Yufeng’s glee lasted only a moment before she noticed thunder beginning to rumble in the sky.
Clouds slowly gathered, as if rain was imminent.
The moisture in the air gradually increased, and Shi Yao used the water to swiftly extinguish all the mountain fires. The smile on Hua Yufeng’s face froze completely.
Just then, Xue Qingxian finally arrived.
His face was smeared with soot from the thick smoke. Seeing so many demons, he raised the blade in his hand and began chanting an incantation to exorcise them.
A brilliant golden light emanated from the blade in Xue Qingxian’s hand. The demons paused briefly upon hearing the exorcism chant, but only for a moment before they resumed their attacks on the cultivators and Qi Wushuang, who was locked in combat with Hua Yufeng.
Shi Yao sighed softly, thinking that Xue Qingxian had probably only learned how to exorcise demons one-on-one and had never encountered such a horde.
She was about to remove the silk cloth covering her eyes when she felt a breeze beside her.
“Keep it on. Your eyes can’t handle the light. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Shi Yao didn’t stop her motion to remove the cloth, but no matter how wide she opened her eyes, she couldn’t see Fu Rou clearly.
Seeing Shi Yao’s vacant, blind gaze, Fu Rou couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity. She took a step forward and gently pressed her crimson lips against Shi Yao’s, slowly caressing.
Below them, flesh and blood flew amid the clash of blades, yet they kissed in mid-air.
Shi Yao felt her vision shift from seeing only a blur of light to gradually discerning the outline of the person before her, until she could clearly see Fu Rou’s trembling long eyelashes.
Fu Rou pulled away and, seeing Shi Yao’s restored dark eyes, smiled with pursed lips. “I’ve returned your soul and spirit. Don’t do such thankless tasks again. You could have just waited for me to reincarnate like Qi Wushuang did. Why keep my spirit body and make me suffer?”
Shi Yao’s voice was low, her throat slightly choked. “I’m sorry.”
Fu Rou reached out and stroked Shi Yao’s smooth long hair, knowing now wasn’t the best time to bring up past grievances. “You handle the cultivators and the half-demons. I’ll take care of the Demon Realm’s little princess. Any objections?”
“None.”
Ever since the little kitten had taken human form, her aura had become overwhelmingly powerful. How could Shi Yao dare to object?
Fu Rou turned and met Hua Yufeng’s gaze. She raised her hand lightly. “Fei Lian, come.”
The blade Xue Qingxian had been holding tore free from his grasp and flew directly into Fu Rou’s hand. As she drew the sword, a sharp, brilliant light shone directly into Hua Yufeng’s eyes.
Taking advantage of Hua Yufeng’s momentary distraction, Qi Wushuang wounded one of his arms.
“Little Princess, I should have come to the mortal realm years ago to investigate thoroughly. Otherwise, how could I have let a big fish like you slip away?”
Hua Yufeng let out a sinister laugh. “Demon Emperor, you no longer possess the power you once had. I advise you not to be so arrogant.”
“Is that so?”
Fu Rou and Hua Yufeng clashed fiercely, their blades meeting with heavy, violent clashes. Both bore deep-seated grudges, and every move they made was aimed at the other’s vital points.
Meanwhile, Shi Yao manipulated the surrounding water, effortlessly trapping and eliminating the cultivators and half-demons nearby.
Witnessing this, Qi Wushuang swiftly flew to Shi Yao and demanded, “Why did you kill them all?”
Shi Yao sneered. “Qi Wushuang, the esteemed Goddess Wushuang, can’t you direct your compassion where it’s needed? Are you unaware that the merfolk were annihilated by these very cultivation sects, their spiritual energy extracted for cultivation? I am avenging the merfolk, it is only right and just. Look at the scum you’re defending: demons and hypocrites pretending to be righteous. Aren’t you ashamed?”
“But among the cultivation sects, there are good people, those who don’t wish to be your enemies. They…”
Shi Yao’s expression turned icy. She formed a sword from water and pressed it against Qi Wushuang’s neck, enunciating each word clearly. “That’s not how the accounting works. Whether intentional or not, anyone who used the merfolk’s spiritual energy deserves death. They all share the guilt for the merfolk’s extinction! You’re the epitome of someone who benefits from wrongdoing and then acts innocent, aren’t you? You cultivated using the purified spiritual energy released after those who absorbed the merfolk’s power died. Do you truly believe that makes you spotless? What right do you have to lecture me?”
“You could have stripped them of their cultivation and spiritual energy, letting them live as ordinary humans. That would be better than killing them outright!”
Fu Rou, focused on her fight with Hua Yufeng, couldn’t help but find this sanctimonious talk utterly ridiculous.
Shi Yao raised a hand to her forehead, then glanced at the barely alive cultivators trapped in the water. Suddenly, Qi Wushuang’s words struck a chord.
“You’ve enlightened me. Your way is even crueler.”
Shi Yao pulled the cultivators out of the water, systematically transferring all their cultivation and spiritual energy into Fu Rou.
Fu Rou already had the upper hand against Hua Yufeng, and with this sudden surge in power, Hua Yufeng found himself under immense pressure, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
Shi Yao looked at the cultivators lying on the ground, drained of all cultivation and spiritual energy, barely clinging to life. A radiant smile bloomed on her face.
Indeed, this was far more satisfying than simply killing them.
Just as Shi Yao was about to go assist Fu Rou, she sensed the sharp edge of Qi Wushuang’s sword.
Clearly, Qi Wushuang’s pride had been wounded, and she urgently needed an outlet for her rage.
A fierce glint flashed in Shi Yao’s eyes. “I had no intention of killing you, but you’re eager to throw your life away!”
And so, Shi Yao and Qi Wushuang began their own fierce battle.
Dark clouds gathered thicker and thicker in the sky, yet Fu Rou’s smile remained as relaxed as ever.
“Little sister, you are no match for me.”
Taking advantage of the moment Hua Yufeng was thrown back by her power, Fu Rou casually twirled her blade, leaving countless small cuts all over Hua Yufeng’s body before severing all her meridians. Thick, viscous blood pooled on the ground.
Hua Yufeng’s strength gradually waned. She knelt on the ground, her chin lifted by the tip of Fu Rou’s blade.
“Demon Emperor, I miscalculated, I underestimated your power. But I haven’t lost yet, not yet…”
“This blade of mine is stained with the blood of your ancestors. Do you see the dark patterns on it? They were forged with the blood of your lineage. Dying beneath the Fei Lian Blade today, you’ve gotten no less than you deserve.”
Hua Yufeng spat out a mouthful of blood and gritted her teeth as she shouted toward Qi Wushuang, who was locked in battle with Shi Yao: “Goddess Wushuang! All those years ago, because of a single remark from you, I was nearly expelled from my cultivation sect. Years of effort went up in smoke! I hate you! I resent you! Not being able to kill you today will be the regret of my life! But I’ve left you a grand gift, enjoy it slowly! I want you to suffer, to live with regret! I want you to understand that the concepts of good and evil in this world are far more complex than you could ever imagine!”
With that, she threw her neck against Fu Rou’s blade.
A few drops of blood splattered onto Fu Rou’s originally fair face. She raised a hand to wipe them away, glanced at the crimson on her fingertips, and smiled silently.
“I’ve spent all these years unable to grasp the true meaning of good and evil and you expect her to understand it? Dying so easily… how boring.”
Walking over to where Shi Yao and Qi Wushuang were, Fu Rou casually swung Fei Lian, and a clear, deep cut immediately appeared across Qi Wushuang’s back.
Qi Wushuang lay sprawled on the ground in a wretched state, trembling as she tried to stand, but Fu Rou knocked her out cold with a swift blow to the head.
Shi Yao walked over to Fu Rou’s side, watching her swift, decisive movements, and felt her throat go a little dry.
“Why be so polite with her? If Ying Niaoling were at the mountaintop, she wouldn’t have had a chance to cause any trouble.”
Fu Rou glanced over at Xue Qingxian, who was still standing dazed at the edge of the scene, and pointed her blade at Qi Wushuang as she said to him, “Take her down the mountain, quickly. Soon, lightning tribulation will descend upon Wuqi Mountain, you won’t be able to withstand it.”
“Lightning tribulation?”
“Mm.” Fu Rou lowered her head slightly, her expression a bit awkward. She seemed somewhat reluctant to look at Shi Yao, her tone stiff as she said, “It’s a love tribulation. It won’t be over until I’ve weathered a few more lightning strikes.”
