- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 77 - The Hint
After Lan Xing’s incident, the Princess had been stationed in the outer atmosphere of the Blackwater Republic’s planet, guarded and maintained by a dedicated team. Now that Li Jian’an had returned, Yu Ke decided to retrieve the Princess and, in the process, pay a visit to Lan Xing.
Li Jian’an had worked diligently at Datianxi for sixteen years, establishing a mature interstellar network surveillance system. Now, he intended to relocate this hardware to the Princess, setting traps and hunting within the confines of the spacecraft.
Whenever he discussed these plans with Yu Ke, he allowed no one but Hepburn and Yuli to eavesdrop on their conversations. Every time he saw Jenny standing behind Yu Ke, Li Jian’an would unceremoniously ask her to leave.
“Why do you keep her by your side?” Li Jian’an couldn’t understand. “She betrayed you once, and you have no idea what she’s really thinking!”
“I haven’t given it much thought,” Yu Ke replied calmly. “Sometimes, I feel like giving up…”
“Giving up on what?” Li Jian’an said. “I haven’t given up, so you mustn’t either!”
“Lan Xing… she might never wake up. And given the current situation, we’re burdened with other responsibilities. Just surviving is already a stroke of luck, why ask for more?” Yu Ke lowered her gaze to the floor, her emotions unruffled.
Li Jian’an’s face was etched with anxiety. He clenched his fists, stood up, then sat back down. “If we capture Isabelle,” he asked Yu Ke, “can we save Lan Xing?”
“Are you sure you can catch Isabelle?” Yu Ke frowned slightly, her doubts about Li Jian’an’s capabilities evident.
She had heard him explain their network model, but their target was Isabelle, a monstrous entity who had survived for centuries. How could she be so easily captured?
Li Jian’an didn’t offer a definitive answer, but Hepburn thumped her chest and declared, “Princess, trust us!”
Yu Ke studied Hepburn and the unassuming Yuli beside her. Yuli, wearing black-framed glasses, nodded earnestly in agreement and whispered, “Our team of over thirty people has been tracking and investigating Isabelle for years. She created us, which is why we understand her better than anyone.”
“In that case,” Yu Ke said, “I’ll cooperate with you. Make a list of whatever you need, and I’ll procure the necessary materials.”
Hepburn and Yuli looked delighted, while Li Jian’an appeared confident. He smiled at the two girls and said, “I told you our captain would believe in us.”
Yu Ke also discussed Lan Xing’s condition with them, particularly the research on “clone organ failure.” Li Jian’an’s team had considerable expertise in this area, but his conclusions aligned with what Yu Ke had learned elsewhere, the root of the problem lay in the clone’s cell source and the creator.
In other words, they needed to find the real Lan Xing or capture Isabelle.
Yu Ke had previously invested immense time and effort into searching for Lan Xing but had ultimately given up.
Even if they found the real Princess Lan Xing, if it meant trading her life for Xing’er’s, how could Yu Ke face Xing’er if they succeeded?
Her Xing’er was so kind and pure-hearted, if she were to learn that Yu Ke had sacrificed Princess Lan Xing to save her, she would surely be unable to accept it.
On the other hand, knowing that there was still someone in this world who resembled Lan Xing and was living well brought Yu Ke a certain measure of comfort.
During the war, obtaining the supplies on Li Jian’an’s list was still somewhat challenging. Nevertheless, Yu Ke did her best to procure them. During this process, Jenny offered to assist her, but Yu Ke declined.
Jenny tried to persuade her, blocking Yu Ke’s path and saying, “Your Highness, you are already burdened enough with the interplanetary conflicts. Such trivial matters should be left to me. Allow me to share your worries.”
Yu Ke’s attitude toward Jenny during this period could only be described as icy. She rarely responded to Jenny’s words, but upon hearing this, she unexpectedly retorted sharply, “If I leave it to you, am I just waiting for you to betray me?”
Jenny froze in place, then resentfully replied, “If Your Highness distrusts me so much, then why keep me by your side? You should have let me go unsold back then!”
Her voice trembled slightly, choked with emotion, evoking an inexplicable sense of pity. But Yu Ke did not look back at her and walked away without a second thought. At that moment, she had far too many matters to attend to and no room for compassion toward others.
…
Annie immediately noticed Jenny’s despondency. Mermaids were experts at emotional guidance. She embraced the lovely little witch, inhaling her intoxicating scent, and couldn’t help but hum an undersea melody.
“I saw that vision again…” Jenny’s voice was hoarse and weary. She curled up in the mermaid’s embrace, the cold scales offering her some solace. Closing her eyes, the images in her mind grew clearer, and she gasped in pain.
Annie, with her larger frame, held Jenny effortlessly. When her submerged tail fully extended, it acted like a third arm, enveloping Jenny securely in her embrace.
“Don’t worry,” Annie gently stroked Jenny’s head and said with a smile, “Prophecies often differ from what you imagine. What you believe will happen may not unfold in the way you expect.”
Jenny trembled slightly, clutching the royal pendant Annie had given her. Before receiving this pendant, Jenny had occasionally glimpsed “visions of the future.” For instance, she had once foreseen Yu Ke appearing at Datianxi, which led Jenny to join the Jingba Pirates and reunite with the princess on that beautiful planet in an unconventional way.
It was also a prophetic hint that led her to encounter the true Princess Lan Xing.
Jenny detested Lan Xing. If not for her, her beloved princess would already be ruling Ferrari.
In the end, what did the princess gain? She merely ran off with a counterfeit Lan Xing?
A mere imposter, how could she be worthy of the princess sacrificing everything?
Jenny loathed both Lan Xing to the core. She wished she could destroy them both!
“You are the legendary witch, aren’t you? I need your help.” Princess Lan Xing had a delicate and beautiful face, but Jenny could tell at a glance, this was not the same Lan Xing whom Yu Ke had taken away.
From the very beginning, this Lan Xing had arranged a substitute for herself, revealing her profound cunning and meticulous planning, with supporters willing to assist her behind the scenes. For what purpose would such a powerful princess evade the political marriage with the Kingdom of Ferrari?
At that time, Jenny loathed the person before her deeply, never imagining that in the future she would indeed risk her life for this princess, even betraying Yu Ke once again for her sake.
