Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 59
Shen Xian nodded. She was indeed planning to buy a house—though she hadn’t gone to view it yet. But how did Qinghan find out?
“Yes, I’ve been browsing listings online the past few days. There’s one I like—about 140 square meters—but I still need to see it in person,” Shen Xian said with a smile.
Her voice was soft and warm, but to Lin Qinghan, it sounded unbearably harsh. So Shen Xian really did want to move out and buy a bigger place?
Qinghan stared at Shen Xian for a few moments, then quietly pulled the blanket over herself and lay back down.
Shen Xian was puzzled. Weren’t they just talking about the house a second ago? Why was she suddenly going back to sleep?
“Qinghan, what’s wrong…?”
“My head hurts a bit. I didn’t sleep well last night. I want to rest,” Lin Qinghan said, closing her eyes and ending the conversation.
Seeing her eyes shut, Shen Xian didn’t press further. She quietly stood up, exited the room, and gently closed the door behind her.
The moment the door clicked shut, Lin Qinghan’s eyes opened again. She tried to hold back her tears—but failed. She had heard Shen Xian’s answer loud and clear. Tears slipped silently down her cheeks.
Why, then, had Shen Xian taken such good care of her and Tiantian these past few months, if she was just planning to leave?
Snatching a handful of tissues from the bedside drawer, Lin Qinghan wiped her face. Maybe it was because she had grown used to hardship, raising her daughter alone, only hoping Tiantian could grow up safe and happy. But Shen Xian had barged back into their world. Now both she and Tiantian had grown used to Shen Xian’s presence.
And now she was going to leave.
Tiantian would be heartbroken too, wouldn’t she?
Every little thing Shen Xian had done—every act of kindness, every bit of help—had left a trace in their home, in their lives. Qinghan realized that she was happiest when Shen Xian was there. And Tiantian was happiest when Shen Xian was around too.
Her thoughts spiraled, the tears coming faster, her throat tightening from crying. She didn’t want Shen Xian to see her like this. After wiping her face clean and confirming there were no more tears, she finally opened the bedroom door and stepped out to get a glass of water.
Seeing her emerge, Shen Xian immediately walked over. “Qinghan, feeling better? Does your head still hurt?”
Qinghan didn’t respond, afraid that if she spoke, she would lose control again. She simply sidestepped Shen Xian and went to the kitchen with her cup.
Something felt wrong—very wrong. Shen Xian frowned. Qinghan’s behavior was completely off today. Her eyes were puffy and red too, like she’d just been crying. Shen Xian quickly followed her and blocked her in the small dining area.
“Qinghan? Did you cry just now? Why are your eyes so red? What’s going on?”
Qinghan tried to slip past her, but Shen Xian grabbed her wrist. Qinghan’s back hit the wall, and Shen Xian braced both hands on either side of her, effectively trapping her in place. She even took the cup out of Qinghan’s hands and placed it on the table behind them.
Qinghan was pinned, unable to retreat. The sorrow that had been building up finally reached its limit. Shen Xian was the one planning to leave, and yet she was the one using this ambiguous pose to hold her here?
Her tears began falling again.
Shen Xian froze for a second, caught off guard. She awkwardly wiped at Qinghan’s tears, her voice soft and worried. “Qinghan, what’s wrong? Just tell me. I’ll figure it out, okay?”
“No, it’s not okay. You really don’t know why I’m crying?” Qinghan sniffled, glaring at her.
Shen Xian looked completely lost. “I really don’t… Yesterday everything was fine, wasn’t it? I didn’t do anything, so what did I do wrong?”
Seeing her confusion only made Qinghan angrier. She tried to shove past her again, but Shen Xian held on. “Wait—Qinghan, please. Tell me what’s wrong. I want to fix it.”
Qinghan glared at her, then suddenly collapsed into Shen Xian’s arms, crying even harder. She had tossed and turned all night, while this woman was acting like nothing had happened. And now she dared ask
what she’d done wrong?
The more Qinghan cried, the more panicked Shen Xian became. Her chest ached just watching it. She gently stroked Qinghan’s back, trying to soothe her.
“Please don’t cry, Qinghan. Tell me what I did wrong, and I’ll fix it. Just don’t cry. It’s killing me to see you like this.”
After a moment, Qinghan finally managed to speak in a hoarse voice. “You said you were buying a house… aren’t you leaving me and Tiantian behind? Isn’t that why?”
Shen Xian blinked, finally connecting the dots. Her tense heart began to ease. She reached up to gently wipe Qinghan’s cheeks again.
But Qinghan angrily slapped her hand away, choking out, “Don’t touch me!”
Shen Xian sighed. “When did I ever say I was leaving you and Tiantian? I’m not buying a place just for myself. I meant for all three of us. It’s inconvenient to keep renting. Tiantian’s almost four—she’ll start school soon. The place I picked is near Linhai First Elementary, one of the best schools in the city. Moving there means everything will be easier—for all of us.”
Qinghan’s mind went blank.
So Shen Xian wasn’t leaving?
She was planning to take her and Tiantian along?
Why didn’t she say that earlier? Qinghan had cried the whole night for nothing and now made a fool of herself in front of her.
The frustration melted into embarrassment. She ducked her head and buried herself deeper into Shen Xian’s arms.
Still, she needed to be sure. Living together meant Shen Xian couldn’t exactly date anyone new. It wasn’t normal for someone to live with their ex-wife and child while pursuing someone else. If Shen Xian was making this decision… did that mean she wasn’t planning to date anyone?
Qinghan’s heart fluttered.
“Shen Xian, are you really not leaving us behind? You’re not just buying a place for yourself?”
Shen Xian held her close, whispering in her ear, “Of course not. I’ll never abandon you or Tiantian. You two, and my parents, are the most important people in my life. Qinghan, if something’s bothering you, just tell me. Seeing you cry like that—I feel like my heart’s being ripped apart.”
Qinghan was moved but couldn’t resist teasing, “You sure you’ve thought this through? Living with me and Tiantian, you might never get a girlfriend—or boyfriend—again.”
She knew full well that now that Shen Xian’s business was booming, plenty of young, attractive Omegas would flock to her. But the current Shen Xian… she was different. Steady, mature.
Shen Xian chuckled. “What do I need another Omega for? I already have you and Tiantian.”
She meant it casually—as in, she didn’t need anyone else when life was already this fulfilling.
But to Qinghan, it sounded like something else entirely: Shen Xian only wanted her.
Her ears turned red. She lightly rubbed her cheek against Shen Xian’s neck and muttered, “Don’t say weird stuff like that.”
Shen Xian’s lips curved into a smile. Qinghan was adorable when she acted like this.
“I’m not saying weird stuff—it’s the truth,” Shen Xian said gently. “So, no more crying, alright? Since you already took the day off, how about we go check out that house this afternoon?”
Qinghan nodded in her arms, but thinking about how Shen Xian had made her worry for nothing, she decided she wouldn’t let her off so easily.
Still wrapped around her, she murmured, “Okay. But my legs feel weak now. Can you carry me to the couch?”
Shen Xian laughed softly. “Sure. Anything you want.”
She slid one arm around Qinghan’s back, the other under her knees, and effortlessly picked her up. Qinghan looped her arms around Shen Xian’s neck, resting her head against her chest.
In a few quick steps, Shen Xian laid her gently on the sofa. But just as she was about to pull away, Qinghan’s arms remained around her neck.
“What’s wrong? Are your legs numb?” Shen Xian asked. She propped herself over Qinghan, one hand bracing on the couch, the other gently massaging just above her knees. “Does that feel better?”
Qinghan had only held on to tease her, but now she felt like the one being teased. Her face flushed, and she quickly covered Shen Xian’s hand with hers. “That’s enough, it’s much better.”
She finally released her grip from Shen Xian’s neck.
Shen Xian sat down beside her, relieved to see that she’d stopped crying. “You wanted water earlier, right? I’ll get some.”
She adjusted the temperature just right before handing the glass over. “Here you go, Qinghan.”
Qinghan took it a little awkwardly. “Thanks.”
She sipped it slowly. Shen Xian sat beside her and said, “Last night when you burned your hand—was that also because you thought I was moving out? Silly. Don’t ever do that again. No matter what happens, your health comes first. And if I ever mess up, just tell me. I’ll fix it. No more crying in secret, okay?”
Qinghan nodded and rested her head against Shen Xian’s shoulder.
Shen Xian wrapped an arm around her. “And if there’s anything you want me to do, just say the word. I’m very obedient—and also very clingy.”
Qinghan’s cheeks flushed again. She took another sip of water to cool her burning cheeks. Why did this woman always say such shameless things so calmly?
Why did she always get flustered so easily?
But… it wasn’t fair to be the only one getting flustered.
She glanced up at Shen Xian, who was already watching her with a warm smile. Qinghan sat up a little straighter and pressed a light kiss to Shen Xian’s cheek. Before Shen Xian could react, she’d darted off and disappeared into her room.
