Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 57
After finishing up in the kitchen, Shen Xian stepped out to see Tiantian happily digging into her fruit bowl, clearly having forgotten all about the earlier incident. Shen Xian curled her lips—this little rascal really had a knack for timing. She just had to come looking for her right when Qinghan was holding her.
Shen Xian leaned in and asked, “Is it good?”
Tiantian looked up and beamed. “It’s yummy! Thank you, Mama and Mommy, for getting me treats!”
Shen Xian gave her a playful rub on the cheek and smiled. “Glad you like it. Eat as much as you want.”
Lin Qinghan watched the two of them with a quiet smile.
Seeing that Tiantian had already eaten quite a bit of fruit, Lin Qinghan gently stopped her. Kids had delicate digestive systems, and she didn’t want Tiantian to get a stomachache from overeating before bed.
After dinner, Tiantian nestled between Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan, watching cartoons. Whenever something exciting happened on screen, her little ponytail would bounce with delight. The two mothers kept her company until she finally drifted off to sleep. Only then did they breathe a sigh of relief.
It was barely past nine, and neither of them was sleepy yet. Not wanting to wake Tiantian, they tiptoed back into the living room and turned off the TV.
Shen Xian glanced at Lin Qinghan and suddenly burst into laughter, which made Lin Qinghan giggle too.
She gave Shen Xian a light pat. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing,” Shen Xian said with a grin. “Just thinking about how we got caught red-handed by our own kid.”
“I didn’t do anything,” Lin Qinghan teased, leaning closer. “It was you who got caught. Were you embarrassed just now?”
“Me? No way. Why would I be embarrassed?” Shen Xian quickly denied it. Come on, she was a boss lady—how could she be shy?
Lin Qinghan grabbed Shen Xian’s arm and laughed. “You so were. You even started stuttering.”
“Well, you weren’t exactly calm either. I was the one who came up with the brilliant plan to distract our little glutton, remember?” Shen Xian pulled Lin Qinghan into her arms as she spoke.
Lin Qinghan leaned against her without protest. Thinking of their daughter’s antics, she chuckled softly. “That’s true. Tiantian really is a little foodie. We’d better keep the snacks coming, or she’ll get lured away by the next person with a candy bar.”
She inhaled the scent of sweet orange lingering around Shen Xian and rubbed against her contentedly.
“She’s not that easy to fool,” Shen Xian said fondly. “Tiantian’s super smart. She understands everything we say, and now she even learned how to tattle on me! She’s only three and a half—who knows how clever she’ll be when she’s older?”
Lin Qinghan smirked. “Then don’t eat spicy food in front of her anymore. You know how she is—if she sees you eating something, she’ll start craving it too.”
“Yes, yes, yes,” Shen Xian said with a soft smile. “Next time we want something spicy, we’ll drop her off at my mom’s and sneak out together.”
“Deal,” Lin Qinghan replied, resting her head on Shen Xian’s shoulder.
Shen Xian’s heart melted. “You’re getting more and more into using me as your pillow these days.”
Lin Qinghan cracked open one eye and gave her a look. “What, you got a problem with that?”
“Of course not!” Shen Xian laughed. “I’m your personal pillow. Lean on me all you want.”
Satisfied, Lin Qinghan nodded and murmured, “That’s more like it.”
The scent of sweet oranges lulled her to sleep in Shen Xian’s arms. Shen Xian played with her phone for a bit, but when she saw it was past ten and Lin Qinghan was still fast asleep, she gently put her phone away.
With one arm around Lin Qinghan’s waist and the other sliding under her knees, Shen Xian scooped her up effortlessly.
Though stirred awake, Lin Qinghan was still groggy and reluctant to open her eyes. She snuggled into Shen Xian’s chest before finally blinking them open—only to find herself being carried out of the living room.
Her face flushed red in an instant. She kicked her legs lightly in protest. “What are you doing?”
Shen Xian chuckled. “Carrying you to bed, of course. What else?” Honestly, Qinghan had been the one clinging to her just moments ago—how was this her fault now?
Lin Qinghan blushed even deeper and buried her face in Shen Xian’s chest. “I’m awake now. You don’t have to carry me.”
“You kicked off your slippers,” Shen Xian said gently. “And it’s just a few steps. We’re almost there.”
Lin Qinghan’s heart raced. Even when they were married, Shen Xian had never held her like this. A warm, unexplainable sweetness slowly welled up in her chest. The way Shen Xian treated her made her feel like a young girl again.
Noticing she had stopped squirming, Shen Xian smiled faintly and carried her into the bedroom.
Lin Qinghan didn’t dare move again, worried that any sound might wake their daughter and lead to questions that were hard to explain.
Shen Xian gently pushed open the bedroom door and placed Lin Qinghan on her side of the bed. Lin Qinghan glanced up and gave Shen Xian a few light punches with her fists. Shen Xian just laughed and let her hit her without retaliating, which only made Lin Qinghan blush more furiously.
Seeing Shen Xian smiling so smugly made Lin Qinghan a little annoyed. Was she treating this like a joke? Did Shen Xian really not have any feelings for her?
Unaware of Lin Qinghan’s inner turmoil, Shen Xian, seeing that she’d gone quiet, simply said goodnight and went to lie down on her side of the bed. Within minutes, she was sound asleep.
Meanwhile, Lin Qinghan tossed and turned, her mind replaying the image of Shen Xian carrying her over and over again.
She sat up slightly and glanced over—both Shen Xian and Tiantian were sleeping like logs. Frustrated, Lin Qinghan nearly reached out to shake Shen Xian awake. How could she sleep so soundly? What exactly was Shen Xian thinking? Did she have feelings for her or not? If she didn’t, why would she carry her like that?
The questions swirled in her mind all night, and by the time morning came, dark circles had formed under her eyes.
As luck would have it, Shen Xian chose that moment to come over and ask, “Qinghan, what’s up with your eyes?”
Lin Qinghan shot her a glare and muttered, “You have the nerve to ask? This is your fault.” Then she gave her a shove and took Tiantian off to wash up, leaving Shen Xian standing there, utterly baffled.
My fault? How’s that my fault? Shen Xian remained confused all through breakfast.
—
Time flew by, and soon Shen Xian’s company was fully renovated, occupying an entire floor of the office building. The team had grown from five people to over 150.
Shen Xian personally selected two sharp, capable individuals to be her assistants—Shang Yunbo and Xiao Yue—both of whom had left smaller companies to join her new firm.
On the first day of operations, Shen Xian held a company-wide meeting to lay out upcoming projects and investment plans. Having gone through this countless times in her past life, she executed everything flawlessly, establishing her authority right off the bat.
Naturally, the gossip group chats were buzzing:
“OMG, our boss is so A. I’m in love.”
“Nope, you’re not allowed. The boss belongs to everyone.”
“Can’t believe I actually have a stunning CEO as my boss. I’m tearing up. My last boss was a 40-something balding uncle.”
“LOL! It’s either a bald guy or a nun—apparently, we’re all in the same boat.”
“So jealous of the assistants. They get to see her every day, and she’s so competent! Not a single useless word in meetings. I’m obsessed.”
“You all better chill. With a boss this amazing, I’m sure she has a long line of admirers.”
Li Xing was grinning as he scrolled through the chat. Sure, the boss was gorgeous—but everyone was forgetting that she was happily married with a kid who was already three and a half. These people were
dreaming.
Of course, after the initial excitement wore off, everyone got back to work.
—
Shen Xian’s office was nearly identical to the one she had in her previous life, with a large floor-to-ceiling window behind her desk. To the right was a door leading to a private lounge, which included a bathroom and a large bed. She’d specifically requested this so that Qinghan and Tiantian would have a place to rest when they visited.
Everything was running smoothly—until the arrival of Yu Qingwan shattered the peace.
She found out about the company’s launch online. None of her job applications had gone anywhere, so she decided to confront Shen Xian personally and ask why she hadn’t been hired.
When she arrived, the receptionist and a nearby security guard stopped her.
“Miss, do you have an appointment? If not, we can’t allow you to enter freely,” the receptionist said politely.
Yu Qingwan scoffed and shouted, “I’m Shen Xian’s girlfriend! Who do you think you are to stop me? Let’s see who dares keep me out!”
Her outburst drew the attention of staff in the lobby. One quick-witted security guard called Shen Xian right away.
Frowning, Shen Xian instructed calmly, “You’re security—if you can’t even stop one person, then you can skip work tomorrow. She’s clearly just a lunatic. Save the evidence. If she escalates things, report her to the police.”
Despite being blocked, Yu Qingwan refused to back down and kept trying to push her way inside. Eventually, the receptionist had no choice but to call the police.
Even as they did, Yu Qingwan kept shouting, “Shen Xian! Do you dare come out and face me? You coward! You scumbag! Why are you treating me like this?” She worked herself into such a state that she started crying.
Seeing the commotion getting worse, Shen Xian finally stepped out with her two assistants.
Yu Qingwan became even more agitated. “Don’t think you can just throw me away now that you’ve got money! If I go down, you’re coming with me!”
Shen Xian sneered. “Is that a threat, Miss Yu? The slander and verbal abuse you just directed at me have already infringed upon my personal rights. I’ll be contacting my lawyer. As for why the company didn’t hire you—don’t pretend you don’t know. You simply weren’t qualified. Now, please escort this woman out.”
Moments later, the police arrived and took Yu Qingwan away after assessing the situation.
—
Back in her office, Shen Xian made a call. “Xiao Xi, I need a favor. Someone caused a scene on our opening day. Can you pull a few strings to keep her inside a bit longer?”
“Sure, Shen-jie. Just send me her name. I’ll take care of it,” Jiang Xi replied without hesitation.
Yu Qingwan thought she’d get off with a warning. But instead, she was detained for five days for disturbing public order. No matter how much she cried and begged, the officers remained firm.
“Apologies mean nothing,” one officer said. “If you break the law, you face the consequences.”
Only then did Yu Qingwan begin to regret her actions—and start to worry about the lawsuit Shen Xian had mentioned. A chill crept over her heart.
