Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 43
After coaxing Tiantian to sleep that night, Lin Qinghan sat on the sofa watching TV, while Shen Xian played on her phone not far away.
Glancing at Shen Xian, then back at the screen, Lin Qinghan asked, “Are you busy tomorrow?”
Shen Xian turned her head and looked at Lin Qinghan. “It’s not too bad these days. Why? Do you need something?”
“It’s nothing serious,” Lin Qinghan said casually. “The hospital is organizing an outing tomorrow. If you’d like to come, you can join me.” As she spoke, she stole a glance at Shen Xian.
Shen Xian put down her phone completely, scooted closer, and looked at her thoughtfully with a smile. “Is it that you want me to come?”
Lin Qinghan raised an eyebrow and shot her a look. “Don’t flatter yourself. I just thought you’d be bored alone, so I’m reluctantly bringing you along.”
Shen Xian chuckled. “Well then, thanks, Qinghan. Always thinking of me first.”
She paused, then added, “Since the office is still under renovation and there’s not much going on tomorrow, I’ll just give everyone the day off. That way, I can accompany you on the outing.”
Lin Qinghan tilted her chin slightly and gave her a side-eye. “I’m bringing you.”
Resting her head on the back of the sofa, Shen Xian looked at her lazily with a smile. “Alright, you’re bringing me. Whatever you say, Qinghan.”
Lin Qinghan kept her eyes on the TV, but Shen Xian’s gaze never left her face. That made her a little self-conscious, and her ears slowly turned pink. She finally turned to Shen Xian and asked, “What are you staring at?”
“Nothing,” Shen Xian replied, still watching her. “I’m just tired and leaning back to rest.”
Lin Qinghan abruptly turned off the TV and stood up, muttering, “Then you rest. I’m going to bed.”
“Wait, what time are we leaving tomorrow? Do we need to bring anything?” Shen Xian asked quickly, realizing she might have teased too much.
“The hospital’s providing food and water. Just bring some personal items,” Lin Qinghan replied as she headed toward the bedroom.
“Got it. Good night, Qinghan,” Shen Xian called with a grin.
When Lin Qinghan glanced back and saw her still smiling, the blush on her ears deepened. She hurriedly tossed back a “Good night” and retreated quickly into her room.
Shen Xian remained lounging on the sofa, her smile deepening. Who would’ve guessed—beneath that cool exterior, Qinghan was actually quite shy.
Opening her phone, Shen Xian sent a message in the company group chat, giving everyone the day off. The announcement was met with cheers, and only then did she get up to wash up for the night.

The next morning, Shen Xian was in a great mood knowing she’d be spending the day with Lin Qinghan. After her morning run, she hummed a tune while making breakfast for the two of them and Tiantian—cheesy shrimp sandwiches, a current favorite.
Tiantian hadn’t even opened her eyes before smacking her lips and sleepily muttering, “Mama, did Mommy make cheese? Smells so good~”
Lin Qinghan opened her eyes and, amused, poked her daughter’s chubby little cheek. “Still half-asleep and already thinking about food? You’re such a little greedy cat.”
Delighted by the gentle poke, Shen Tian’s dimples popped out as she opened her eyes and declared, “I am not a greedy cat! Mommy definitely made cheese!”
She sat up and, as if to prove herself right, rolled to the edge of the bed and used her short legs to shuffle her way toward the kitchen in her tiny slippers.
Shen Xian saw the bedhead and waddling walk and knew Tiantian had caught the scent. Picking her up, she grinned. “Come on, little President Shen, tell me if today’s breakfast meets your standards—cheesy shrimp sandwiches and milk.”
Tiantian rubbed her little face against Shen Xian’s shoulder and cooed, “I love it~ Cheese is my favorite!”
“You and that super nose of yours. Go wash up first,” Shen Xian said as she bounced Tiantian lightly before setting her back down.
Lin Qinghan had also emerged from the bedroom by then, and Tiantian ran over to hug her leg, dragging her along to the bathroom.
By the time both had freshened up, breakfast was ready. Tiantian devoured her sandwich enthusiastically. Seeing this, Shen Xian decided to seize the moment.
“Mommy and Mama have to go do some work today, so you’ll go to Grandma’s, okay? Once we finish, we’ll bring back yummy snacks for you.”
Tiantian paused mid-bite, looked up with a puzzled expression. “But… why do Mama and Mommy always have work? You’ve already dropped me off at Grandma’s a bunch of times.”
Shen Xian took a sip of milk to hide her awkwardness, then replied cheerily, “Because Mama and Mommy need to earn lots of money to buy yummy food for you!”
Tiantian munched thoughtfully before nodding. “Okay then, I’ll go play with Grandma.”
“You’re the best!” Shen Xian praised, giving her a thumbs-up.

After breakfast, Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan dropped Tiantian off at Fang Jinglan’s before heading to the hospital. Since the hospital was providing all the food and water, the two only brought one small backpack between them. When they arrived, most of the staff had already boarded the buses.
Just as they were about to get on, they ran into Liu Wenwen and Zhao Qing.
Liu Wenwen gave Shen Xian a once-over, then said to Lin Qinghan with a smirk, “Dr. Lin brought someone today? You used to never attend these events.”
“Well, I had the time, and besides, I’m not the only one who brought someone—some even brought kids,” Lin Qinghan replied coolly, then turned to board the bus with Shen Xian.
“Tch. What’s there to be smug about? She’s just with her ex-wife,” Liu Wenwen muttered with a sour expression.
“Exactly. And that ex is a reckless gambler. What’s she showing off for? But hey, at least now Lin Qinghan won’t have time to chase after Dr. Lu,” Zhao Qing said with a laugh, nudging Liu Wenwen.
That immediately brightened Liu Wenwen. “True! And Dr. Lu asked us to help pass out supplies later. Let’s go.”
“Mm!” Zhao Qing dragged her along toward Lu Jianbai. Many people at the hospital still had a thing for him, and everyone was eager to help when he asked.
Lu Jianbai was carrying a box of bottled water when he saw the two approach. “Did you see Dr. Lin?”
Zhao Qing’s smile froze for a moment, then she quickly replied, “Oh, yeah. She and her ex-wife are already on the bus. Looked pretty chummy—maybe they’re getting back together.”
Lu Jianbai’s face darkened briefly, but he quickly masked it and said, “Nurse Zhao, I’ll bring another half-case of water. Can you help distribute it?”
“Of course!” Zhao Qing beamed at being the first to be asked.
Not to be left out, Liu Wenwen chimed in, “What about me, Dr. Lu?”
“You can help with the food. Thanks to both of you. I couldn’t have done it alone.”
“Oh, no trouble at all! We’re happy to help,” Liu Wenwen replied eagerly.
—
On the bus, all the double seats were already taken. Han Rui had a two-person seat to herself and, seeing Lin Qinghan and Shen Xian approach, waved them over. “You and your Shen Xian can sit here. I’ll go sit with someone else.”
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Lin Qinghan said with a smile, giving her a light tap. “Thanks.” She took the window seat.
Shen Xian sat on the aisle side and smiled at Han Rui. “Thanks, Dr. Han.”
“No problem. I’m alone anyway—it doesn’t matter where I sit.” She found another seat across the aisle.
With a large group, the hospital had booked four buses. Lu Jianbai enlisted a few Alphas to help carry and distribute supplies, while he boarded the same bus as Lin Qinghan.
He and Zhao Qing divided up the task of distributing food and water. When it was Lin Qinghan and Shen Xian’s turn, Lu Jianbai didn’t pause. He mechanically pulled items from the box and handed them over without making eye contact.
Once nearly everything was handed out, he checked the count and called to Zhao Qing, “Nurse Zhao, I think we’re short on water. I’ll go grab half a case.”
“Okay. We’ve got just enough food—just need a bit more water,” she replied.
Watching all this, Shen Xian felt something off. She turned to Lin Qinghan. “Qinghan, shouldn’t logistics handle food and water for something like this?”
Lin Qinghan frowned slightly. “You’re right. Normally, that’s how it works.”
A doctor in the front row overheard and turned around. “I heard the food’s from Dr. Lu’s family business. He sold it to the hospital at a low price—it’s kind of like product promotion for them.”
Shen Xian frowned. “Still feels weird.” She lowered her voice. “Qinghan, has he been bothering you lately?”
Lin Qinghan thought for a moment. “No. Just a polite hello when we run into each other. Why?”
“Nothing,” Shen Xian said. “If I’d known we’d be eating his stuff, I would’ve brought our own. My cooking’s way better than this pre-packaged stuff.”
Lin Qinghan glanced at her, a smile tugging at her lips. “Alright, I know your cooking’s amazing. Let’s just get through lunch today.”
“Yeah,” Shen Xian sighed, shaking her bottle. “That mountain’s way out in the suburbs—no shops nearby anyway.”
Once the food and water were distributed, most of the passengers had arrived. Lu Jianbai ended up sitting next to Zhao Qing, which irritated Liu Wenwen to no end—she looked like she wanted to burn holes into them with her eyes.
Lu Jianbai sat near the back, by the window, casually chatting with Zhao Qing, though his gaze kept drifting toward Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan.
