Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 40
Because of the whole phone case situation, Lin Qinghan didn’t feel like talking to Shen Xian on the way. Was she really that clueless, or just pretending to be? Lin Qinghan was full of questions all the way there.
As usual, Shen Xian dropped off both Tiantian and Lin Qinghan. Seeing that Lin Qinghan didn’t want to talk, she just assumed she’d accidentally upset her again.
Since she hadn’t gone into the office at all yesterday, Shen Xian arrived early this morning. Jiang Xi had made plans with her to stop by today, and when Shen Xian got there, the employees hadn’t arrived yet.
About half an hour later, four of them trickled in, greeted her politely, and got to work.
Not long after that, Jiang Xi and Mu Siyu arrived together. Shen Xian hadn’t expected Mu Siyu to come too. “Xiao Xi, Miss Mu, let me show you around my little company.”
She took them for a brief tour and then led them back to her office.
Jiang Xi smiled. “Sis, it’s nice, but… feels a bit small.”
“Yeah, I just don’t have enough capital at the moment. Otherwise, I’d be doing venture capital directly instead of just wealth management for others.”
Mu Siyu glanced at Shen Xian, then asked, “Do you have a detailed development plan for the company?”
“Of course I do. I even have a list of companies I want to invest in. But I don’t have enough capital to follow through just yet.” Shen Xian smiled, stood up, and pulled a document from her desk. “Would you be interested, Miss Mu?”
Mu Siyu nodded. “I’m a businesswoman—if there’s profit to be made, I’m naturally interested.” She wasn’t just a savvy businessperson; she had sharp instincts when it came to reading people. And something told her Shen Xian wasn’t as simple as she appeared.
“Would you like to take a look?” Shen Xian handed her the folder.
Mu Siyu accepted it. “Sure. If it looks promising, I think we can collaborate.”
Shen Xian had targeted a few newly formed game companies for investment. In this world, card-based mobile games, turn-based games, and short-video platforms hadn’t taken off yet. She saw it as an opportunity and had been watching these markets closely. Ultimately, she chose a few game startups. As for short videos, she had plans to develop her own app.
After reviewing the proposal, Mu Siyu asked, “What’s the maximum percentage of shares I’d be allowed to hold?”
Shen Xian smiled. “You can invest, but I need to retain control over the company. I don’t plan on working for anyone else.”
“Fair enough. Jiang Xi and I will both buy in. Draft a contract—we’ll sign it if everything looks good.” As if remembering something, Mu Siyu added, “But this space is too small. With our investment, you’ll need to recruit properly and expand your office. At minimum, it should take up half a floor.”
“Absolutely. Once the funds are in place, we’ll build out everything properly. But when it comes time to hire, Mu Siyu, would you be willing to lend me a few interviewers?”
“No problem—we’re partners now.” Mu Siyu stood up and shook her hand.
Watching the two shake hands, Jiang Xi pouted. “Mu-jie, weren’t we just coming to visit a friend? This turned into a full-blown business meeting! It’s like watching my parents scold me again—so exhausting.”
Shen Xian and Mu Siyu both chuckled.
Mu Siyu softened her voice. “You’re right. Old habits die hard—we always end up talking shop.”
“Ugh, compared to you two, I feel like a useless salted fish. Just a few days interning under my brother and my head already hurts,” Jiang Xi grumbled.
Mu Siyu smiled at her. “It’s okay—you’ve got me.”
Jiang Xi blushed. She still wasn’t used to the way Mu Siyu looked at her.
Watching from the side, Shen Xian had already figured things out—looks like the two had reconciled after Jiang Xi’s birthday.
Earlier, while giving them a tour, Shen Xian’s employees had all caught a glimpse of the famous Mu Siyu and Jiang Xi. In Linhai, Mu Siyu was a very well-known and striking CEO. Everyone had recognized her.
As soon as Shen Xian saw them off, her team was buzzing.
“Wow, Shen Xian really knows people—she’s even friends with Mu Siyu! We hit the jackpot,” Li Xing said excitedly. Getting into Mu Group was notoriously difficult; only a few students from their year even got internship opportunities there.
“Yeah, and Shen Xian is super kind too. She actually teaches us when we don’t know something. I think this company has real potential,” Song Min added with a grin.
“Definitely. I suddenly feel really motivated to work,” Yan Qiang chimed in.
Yuan Zhenzhen echoed them, though her gaze lingered on Shen Xian’s office with an unreadable expression.

A week later, Zhao Jianye’s surgery was scheduled. Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan accompanied the family to the hospital.
Soon after, Shen Xian’s aunt and uncle arrived as well. Not wanting to inconvenience others, Fang Jingping said, “You didn’t all need to come. Xiaoyan and I can handle it—go back to work.”
“Third Aunt, we’re all here because we have time. Don’t worry. Hip replacements are common procedures nowadays—it’ll be fine. We’ll go up with you,” Shen Xian reassured her.
Fang Jingchun had already heard from Fang Jinglan and Fang Jingping that Shen Xian had changed, and now that she saw her in person—along with Lin Qinghan—she couldn’t help but feel curious. She made a mental note to call Fang Jinglan later for more details.
Around 9 a.m., the hospital orderly arrived to take Zhao Jianye to the operating room on the 17th floor. He was transferred to a wheeled stretcher and pushed away, while the rest of the family followed.
They waited nearly five hours. Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan were mainly there to help—the ones truly anxious were Fang Jingping and Zhao Xiaoyan.
As the time neared, Shen Xian whispered to Lin Qinghan, “Qinghan, I think he’ll be out in about an hour. No one’s eaten yet—I’ll go grab some takeout. Call me if anything happens.”
“Okay, go ahead. I’ll wait here,” Lin Qinghan nodded.
Just like Shen Xian had guessed, not long after she left, Zhao Jianye was wheeled out of surgery. The doctor kept talking to him, checking his alertness as the anesthesia wore off.
Seeing him come out, Fang Jingping and Zhao Xiaoyan burst into tears. The doctor confirmed that the surgery had gone well, finally putting them at ease. Everyone returned to the recovery room.
Shen Xian came back shortly with lunch. “Third Aunt, I brought food. It’s already two o’clock—let’s eat something.”
Since Zhao Jianye had gone back to sleep under anesthesia, the others didn’t stay to eat. They left the food for Fang Jingping and Zhao Xiaoyan and headed out.
“Xiao Yi, Uncle, are you going home? Let me drive you,” Shen Xian offered.
Curious about what kind of car she drove, Fang Jingchun nodded. Shen Xian dropped them off before returning home with Lin Qinghan.
Her uncle, a car enthusiast, recognized the vehicle as a 400,000+ RMB model. “Where’d Shen Xian get that kind of money?” he asked, puzzled. “This isn’t a cheap car.”
“No idea. I’ll call Second Sis. And honestly, Shen Xian and Qinghan don’t act like they’re divorced at all,” Fang Jingchun said, dialing Fang Jinglan.
Truth be told, the original Shen Xian had deceived Fang Jingchun multiple times before. Once, after losing big on a gamble, she sent a photo of a severed hand and claimed she was in trouble with loan sharks and had her hand chopped off. If she didn’t pay soon, the other hand would go too.
By then, the whole family knew she was a compulsive liar, so Fang Jingchun didn’t send any money. Still, she couldn’t sleep for days out of fear something really had happened—and blamed herself.
In the end, Shen Xian had blown through her money, couldn’t borrow more, and came back home perfectly fine—both hands intact. She acted like nothing had happened and even spoke self-righteously, pretending the photo had never been sent.
The phone call soon connected.
“Second Sis, what’s going on with Shen Xian and Qinghan? And don’t tell me you bought her that car?” Fang Jingchun asked.
“She bought it herself,” Fang Jinglan replied. “As for her and Qinghan, I’m not sure either. But their relationship seems good—they’re living together and raising Tiantian.”
“Mm. She came today for the surgery and brought food. She was running around helping with everything. I really hope she’s changed for real this time.” Fang Jingchun sighed—her sister had suffered too much for that daughter.
“Yeah, it really seems like Shen Xian’s turned a corner,” Fang Jinglan said. The sisters chatted a little longer before hanging up.

Two weeks later, Shen Xian signed a formal agreement with Mu Siyu and Jiang Xi. She rented out the entire right half of the 10th floor as office space. Once the staff learned that Mu Group and Jiang Group had both invested, they were over the moon.
After wrapping up her work that day, Shen Xian received a call from the jewelry store saying the bracelet had arrived. She gave a few instructions to the team and left quickly.
When she arrived, the same clerk from before greeted her. “Hello, your bracelet is ready. Please take a look.”
Shen Xian inspected it and confirmed it matched the photo from her system. “Great. How much is the balance?”
“At today’s gold price of 420 yuan per gram, including craftsmanship fees, the bracelet weighs 60 grams. The remaining balance is 20,200 yuan,” the clerk said, placing it on the scale for verification.
After paying, Shen Xian headed straight to Fang Jinglan’s home. She hadn’t visited in two weeks due to her work with Mu Siyu and Jiang Xi.
When she knocked and entered, both Fang Jinglan and Shen Wenkang were home. Fang Jinglan smiled, surprised. “You’re back early—didn’t go to work?”
“Mom, I’ve been busy these past two weeks. Just thought I’d stop by. How have you and Dad been?”
“We’re fine. Don’t worry—focus on your work.”
Shen Xian pulled the bracelet from her bag, sighed, and opened the box. “Mom, I couldn’t find the old one. I had this one custom-made. I know it’ll never be the same as the one Grandpa gave you, and I’m sorry.
But… this is the best I could do.”
Fang Jinglan’s eyes reddened. She had thought Shen Xian had long forgotten about that bracelet. When it went missing, she’d been furious—so much so she nearly called the police. But Shen Xian was still her daughter. No matter how wrong she had been, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
She took the bracelet from the box. It had the same style, brand, and even a nearly identical inscription.
Holding back tears, she asked, “What made you think of this bracelet again?”
“The other day, I was holding your wrist and just felt something missing. That’s when I remembered,” Shen Xian said, her eyes misting over too. “Mom, I promise—nothing like before will ever happen again. I’ve really grown up, and I want to take care of you and Dad.”
“Your dad and I believe you. As long as you’re doing well, that’s all we care about.” Fang Jinglan finally let her tears fall.
Shen Xian quickly handed her tissues, helped her put the bracelet on, and chatted with her a bit longer before leaving.
Before she left, the virtual number hovering over Fang Jinglan’s head had risen to 65, while Shen Wenkang’s had reached 70.
