Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 37
On Saturday, Shen Tian’s kindergarten was closed, and while Lin Qinghan still had to go to work, Shen Xian decided to pack up some fruit and snacks and bring Tiantian to her office for the day.
The moment Shen Tian heard she was going to Mommy’s workplace, she was overjoyed. Clinging to Shen Xian’s arm, she acted coy.
“Mommy, where do you work? Is it fun?”
Shen Xian simply picked her up.
“Mommy works in an office building. Later I’ll buy you some fruit and snacks, and then you can stay with Mommy while I work. How does that sound?”
“Okay! I’ll be good and stay with Mommy!” Shen Tian rubbed her little face against Shen Xian’s arm affectionately.
Lin Qinghan, watching the two from the couch, reminded them,
“Make sure you eat lunch on time.”
“I will! I’ll make sure Mommy eats properly too!” Shen Tian wobbled her little pigtails proudly as she answered.
Shen Xian chuckled at her daughter’s serious expression and pinched her soft cheeks.
“Alright, you’ll keep Mommy company today.”
She dropped Lin Qinghan off at work first. Ever since Shen Xian had bought a car, Lin Qinghan’s little electric scooter had been retired.
After parking, Shen Tian sweetly called out from the child seat,
“Mama, Tiantian will pick you up this afternoon!”
Lin Qinghan reached in and gently rubbed her daughter’s chubby cheeks.
“Okay, Mama will be waiting.”
Then she turned to Shen Xian.
“Drive carefully. I’m heading in.”
“Don’t worry, Qinghan.”
Lin Qinghan got out of the car, her smile lingering even as she walked away.
From a distance, Lu Jianbai had just arrived at the hospital and happened to witness the scene. His fists clenched tightly as he stared at Lin Qinghan. Ever since the last incident, she hadn’t spoken to him privately, and their company had suffered backlash because of what had happened. Business losses were piling up, and Lu Jianbai blamed it all on Shen Xian.
On the other side, Shen Xian arrived at her rented office space with Shen Tian in her arms. The little girl clung to her shyly at first, hiding her face in Shen Xian’s shoulder. But curiosity soon got the better of her.
“Mommy, what’s this room for? What’s that for?”
Shen Xian couldn’t stop smiling the entire way in. Her arms full of giggles and questions, she entered the office and greeted the employees already present.
“This is my daughter,” she announced brightly. “Remember yesterday we were talking about her? I brought her in to meet you all.” She pinched Shen Tian’s little hand. “Tiantian, say hi to the uncles and aunties.”
Shen Tian peeked out from her mother’s embrace, blushing as she gave a shy smile.
“Hello, uncles and aunties.”
Her little dimples appeared, making Shen Xian beam even more proudly.
“President Shen, you really have a daughter? She’s not just your niece or something?” joked Li Xing, the one with glasses.
“Of course she’s mine! Right, Tiantian?” Shen Xian tickled her cheek.
“Mhm! Mommy!” Shen Tian hugged Shen Xian’s neck in response.
“Alright, you all get back to work. I’ll take Tiantian to my office,” Shen Xian said with a smile and carried her daughter away.
The moment they entered the office, Shen Tian perked up. She waddled over to Shen Xian’s boss chair, pointing at it with awe.
“Mommy, Tiantian wants to try!”
Shen Xian chuckled and lifted her into the chair.
“Soft!” Tiantian said with wide eyes. “Tiantian likes it!”
Shen Xian laughed as she sat on the sofa and began peeling fruit.
“Okay, then our little President Shen can stay there and play while Mommy gets your fruit ready.”
She had even bought a little plush turtle to keep Tiantian entertained. The little girl happily hugged it while playing, her curiosity piqued again.
“Mommy, is little President Shen me?”
Shen Xian teased her.
“Of course. Mommy only has one baby—Tiantian!”
“Little President Shen sounds nice. I like it!” Shen Tian grinned while patting the turtle.
“You’re too cute.” Shen Xian finished preparing the fruit salad and went to pick her up.
Tiantian sat obediently on the sofa, eating her fruit, while Shen Xian went back to her work.
Meanwhile, out in the main office, Yuan Zhenzhen looked less than thrilled. She hadn’t expected Shen Xian to really have a daughter.
Song Min noticed and nudged her.
“Don’t be upset, Zhenzhen. There are plenty of Alphas out there—Shen Xian isn’t the only one.”
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Zhenzhen denied quickly. “I don’t have any feelings for President Shen.”
After work, Shen Xian took Tiantian with her to pick up Lin Qinghan, and together they went to visit Fang Jinglan. Fang Jinglan hadn’t known Shen Xian had bought a car, and when she saw them, she was overjoyed.
“You should’ve told me you were coming—I would’ve prepared some treats for Tiantian!”
“No need, Mom. Tiantian already had plenty of snacks this afternoon. Besides, anything you make tastes great.” Shen Xian smiled.
“Haven’t seen you for a few days and you’re already such a sweet-talker. Qinghan’s here too? Come in, come in,” Fang Jinglan said, her smile growing even wider. The sight of them together gave her hope—maybe
Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan still had a chance.
When Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan offered to help cook, they were immediately shooed out of the kitchen. So they sat on the sofa and played with Tiantian instead.
Fang Jinglan made a few simple home-style dishes. She and Shen Wenkang usually only made one or two dishes since they couldn’t finish more. But now, with the whole family together, her appetite was noticeably better.
Tiantian’s cheeks were puffed out as she ate, her belly round and full. Lin Qinghan gently touched her tummy.
“What did she eat this afternoon?” she asked Shen Xian.
“I made her a fruit platter. She ate almost half of it,” Shen Xian replied, smiling at the memory of her daughter’s stuffed little face.
Lin Qinghan stroked Tiantian’s hair and reminded her,
“After you finish what’s in your bowl, no more food tonight, okay? Otherwise your tummy will hurt when you sleep.”
Tiantian looked longingly at the remaining dishes on the table but nodded obediently.
Children often can’t tell when they’re full, so they end up overeating easily.
By the time they finished eating and cleaning up, it was already 8:30 PM. Fang Jinglan reminded them,
“Take a taxi home, and keep an eye on Tian Tian.”
Shen Xian smiled.
“Mom, I bought a car—and I opened a small company. You can call me anytime if you need a ride.”
Fang Jinglan was wide-eyed. She had begun to believe that her daughter had changed for the better, but starting a company and buying a car? That was beyond her expectations. She worried Shen Xian was falling into old habits again.
“Shen Xian, don’t make things up in front of Qinghan and the child.”
Shen Xian understood her mother’s hesitation and calmly explained,
“It’s true, Mom. I’ve been driving Qinghan and Tiantian around for a while now. And Tiantian even came to the office with me today.” She turned to her daughter and playfully pinched her cheeks. “Right, little President Shen? Didn’t you sit in Mommy’s big boss chair?”
Tiantian’s little pigtails bounced as she nodded.
“Mhm! Mommy’s chair is so comfy!”
Fang Jinglan still looked doubtful. She turned to Lin Qinghan.
“Qinghan, is this true?”
Lin Qinghan nodded.
“It’s true, Mom. The car is parked downstairs.”
Fang Jinglan’s eyes turned red with emotion. She held back her tears and said,
“Alright, take it slow on the way home. It’s late, I won’t keep you.”
“Okay, Mom. You two rest early too.” Shen Xian left with her daughter and Lin Qinghan.
As soon as they were out the door, Fang Jinglan could no longer hold back her tears. She had once thought her life was ruined—having a daughter like Shen Xian who constantly lied and took money from her and the family. Not only did she feel heartbroken, but she also felt ashamed in front of friends and relatives. But now her daughter had really changed. She no longer asked for money; in fact, she had given back tens of thousands. Now she had a company and a car. To say she wasn’t happy would be a lie.
Back in the car, Lin Qinghan looked over and said,
“Shen Xian, Mom didn’t mean she doesn’t believe you—she just didn’t know how to react.”
Shen Xian glanced at her in the rearview mirror.
“I understand. Anyone would react like that. It’s normal.”
The night had turned chilly. Shen Xian took off her coat and wrapped it around her daughter before carrying her upstairs.
Lin Qinghan watched silently, the corners of her lips curving up.
Even Shen Xian herself hadn’t expected to feel so attached to this place so quickly. She already thought of it as home.
The next day, Lin Qinghan was off work and stayed home to look after Tiantian. Just before lunch, she asked her,
“Tiantian, do you miss Mommy?”
Still playing with her toys, the little girl nodded sweetly.
“Mhm~”
“Then let’s make lunch and bring it to Mommy, okay?” Lin Qinghan pinched her daughter’s soft cheeks.
“Okay! Let’s go play with Mommy!”
Lin Qinghan pulled out her phone and placed Tiantian on her lap.
“Alright, tell Mommy yourself.”
She dialed Shen Xian’s number and handed the phone to Tiantian once it connected.
“Mommy!” Tiantian shouted into the phone with her chubby hand holding it up. “Mama and Tiantian miss you! Mama says we’re bringing you lunch~”
Lin Qinghan nearly laughed out loud. When had she ever said that? This little rascal was so good at making things up.
Shen Xian’s voice came through, full of laughter.
“Perfect timing. Mommy’s hungry. I’ll wait for you and Mama to bring lunch.”
“Mhm! Mama, do you want to talk to Mommy too?” Tiantian handed the phone over.
Lin Qinghan took the phone, helpless.
“Shen Xian, Tiantian insisted on seeing you, so I’ll bring lunch over. Alright. See you in a bit.”
After hanging up, she ruffled Tiantian’s hair.
“Weren’t you the one who missed Mommy? Why’d you drag me into it?”
“Mhm! Mama definitely misses Mommy too! Tiantian just helped you say it!” Tiantian said proudly, nuzzling up to her.
“You win. Tiantian’s logic is flawless.” Lin Qinghan gently pinched her daughter’s cheeks and smiled.
