Jiang Qunyu transmigrated into a dog-blood Xianxia cultivation novel and became the inner demon of the villain, Wei Xun.
In the original book, Wei Xun was originally a brilliant, peerless teenage genius of the Lingxiao Sect. However, during a trial, he was injured by demonic energy while saving his fellow disciples, which completely destroyed his spiritual meridians. Falling from the clouds straight into the mud, his fiancée broke off their engagement, his fellow disciples humiliated him, and his relatives abandoned him. He ultimately became the terrifying, crazed Demon Venerable who made the entire cultivation world tremble in fear, only to be jointly decapitated by the protagonist gong (top) and shou (bottom) at the end.
Naturally, as the villain’s inner demon, opposing the protagonist gong and shou could not possibly lead to a good end. Jiang Qunyu was destined to vanish into thin air right along with the villain.
Jiang Qunyu: “…” Who the hell wants to be this crappy inner demon? Anyone else can have it!
World 1:
When he first entered the consciousness ocean, Jiang Qunyu shivered violently as he looked at the tumbling, crimson demonic energy.
The faint clinking of chains echoed from the outside world, for the dungeon was cold and damp. The future demon lord who would stir up storms across the world was currently curling his body up silently, his breath weak and feeble.
According to the plot, every time Wei Xun fell into darkness, he would crush his inner demon to sacrifice to his sword. Throughout the entire book, Wei Xun was supposed to kill him seven times.
And this exact point in time happened to be Wei Xun’s very first descent into darkness.
Jiang Qunyu touched the back of his neck, which felt a bit chilly: Is it too late to apply for reincarnation right now?
World 2:
The first time he was killed, Jiang Qunyu was very peaceful: “An early death means an early reincarnation.”
The second time he was killed, Jiang Qunyu cursed and swore: “Can you fucking change the spot you stab?!”
After the third time he was killed, Wei Xun suddenly pinched his half-shattered divine consciousness and asked, “Why is it that you can always come back to life?”
Jiang Qunyu sneered, “Naturally, it is so I can watch you get stabbed into a sieve by the protagonist gong and shou in the future!”
The two of them loathed the sight of each other and tormented one another for a hundred years. Yet, no matter how much Wei Xun hated the Jiang Qunyu inside his divine consciousness, he could never truly eliminate him.
World 3:
Later, on the day of the decisive battle between orthodox and unorthodox factions, the protagonist gong pointed his sword straight at Wei Xun’s heart.
At the critical moment, Jiang Qunyu habitually rushed out to block the sword. Before his soul shattered and dispersed, he did not forget to use his sharp tongue: “The seventh time…” finally able to…” clock out of work…” Wei Xun, you old bastard, now you got what you wanted.”
World 4:
When he opened his eyes again, a hundred years had already passed in the immortal realm.
Jiang Qunyu was sitting inside a bridal sedan chair, with the deafening sound of suona horns filling his ears. He was being ceremoniously escorted all the way to the Netherworld Abyss to bring auspicious luck to the Master of the Netherworld through an arranged marriage.
He vaguely remembered this part of the plot.
In the original text, this Master of the Netherworld possessed extremely gorgeous looks, but unfortunately, he was a sickly, short-lived ghost. Moreover, he had a volatile temperament, being tyrannical and bloodthirsty. Without exception, every single groom sent to bring him luck ended up as withered bones by the banks of the Forgetfulness River.
Jiang Qunyu only felt that his little life was about to be forfeit again.
Before he could find a chance to escape, a pale hand lifted the curtain of the sedan chair. Reflected in his eyes was a face he recognized down to his very bones.
Jiang Qunyu: “…”
Wait a minute, shouldn’t Wei Xun be acting as the Demon Venerable in Yunque City? How did he become my short-lived husband? And wasn’t it agreed that all past grievances were wiped clean and they would never associate with each other again? Why did Wei Xun hold him, kissing and licking him while he was asleep?
“Jiang Qunyu,” Wei Xun’s voice was low and hoarse, carrying both a sigh and resentment. “Do you dare to abandon me one more time and see what happens?”
At first, Wei Xun utterly hated that clump of black mist inside his divine consciousness, so he crushed it every single time he saw it.
It wasn’t until Jiang Qunyu’s soul dispersed for the seventh time that Wei Xun’s sword cultivation reached great mastery, and he no longer needed to sacrifice his inner demon to his sword.
Finally, there was no more of the past rowdiness inside Wei Xun’s divine consciousness. He thought he would be happy.
Yet in the many years that followed, through the lonely, long nights and atop the freezing jade steps, the silver bell tied to Wei Xun’s Soul-Devouring sword tassel never rang again.
Later on, across the heavens and the underworld, someone caught wind that the Demon Venerable had once knelt before the Hall of Longevity for hundreds of years, just to light a Soul-Returning Lamp for that single wisp of his inner demon.
