Transmigrated as the Top-Tier Alpha's Secretly Married Ex-Wife - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Mo Xian took several showers at the hotel before leaving. It was already past midnight when she arrived in City A. A-Huai personally picked her up and, hearing that Mo Xian had rescued someone at the set—and that it was Su Tuantuan—A-Huai couldn’t understand it and started lecturing her.
“My dear, put away that useless sympathy. There were so many people on the set. Even if you hadn’t saved her, someone else would have.”
But Mo Xian didn’t see it that way.
Su Tuantuan used to not know how to swim.
Right after they got married, Su Tuantuan once fell into the neighborhood pool. She flailed around for a long time, nearly drowning. At the time, Mo Xian thought Su Tuantuan was faking it, and she just turned around and walked away.
Later, the community security guard said Su Tuantuan had nearly drowned and only recovered after a long time of resuscitation.
After that, Su Tuantuan ignored her for several days and never messaged her.
Su Tuantuan knew that Mo Xian was an excellent swimmer and that rescuing someone from the pool would be easy for her.
But Mo Xian didn’t save her.
She had thought Su Tuantuan was deep and scheming, deliberately falling in so Mo Xian would save her, using it as a way to get closer.
Now, she wondered, what if the Su Tuantuan back then had truly just fallen in by accident?
Su Tuantuan went to great lengths to marry her, but after the marriage, besides trying to gain some publicity a few times, she hadn’t done anything truly excessive.
Mo Xian asked A-Huai for her work phone.
She had joined the group chat for the drama Azure Sky with her private WeChat, but she didn’t have Su Tuantuan’s contact.
She had previously decided to try adding Su Tuantuan, only to find that the contact could not be added.
Su Tuantuan had piqued her curiosity, a kind of curiosity far beyond the level of playing with cats and dogs.
Whenever Mo Xian was alone, she involuntarily thought of the scent of pheromones Su Tuantuan released that day.
She liked peaches, but she never knew a citrus scent could be so pleasing.
Mo Xian opened her phone’s text messages. Su Tuantuan used to send her countless messages every day, but it had been a long time since she had received one from Su Tuantuan.
A-Huai noticed her strangeness. “No, Mo Xian, what are you doing? You haven’t, you haven’t developed feelings for Su Tuantuan, have you?”
Mo Xian put her phone away without answering. A-Huai started rambling on with a list of complaints, but stubbornness rose in Mo Xian’s eyes. She even felt a little wronged.
How could someone just stop liking you like that?
She had disliked Su Tuantuan, never liked her before, but now seeing Su Tuantuan so different from her past self, she kept thinking about one question—
Had she ever given herself a chance to understand Su Tuantuan?
She had not.
The past Su Tuantuan and the current Su Tuantuan were warring in her mind.
One said, “You dislike me, and I deserved it.” The other said, “I couldn’t care less about your feelings.”
How could one person change so dramatically in such a short time?
Mo Xian wondered if Su Tuantuan had a dual personality.
“Did you hear me?”
A-Huai asked, and Mo Xian snapped out of her thoughts.
A-Huai was exasperated. “Focus on preparing for the stage. This next one is very important too. The air in Haicheng is damp, and the sun is strong. I’ll buy you some cooling and heat-reducing items before you go.”
Mo Xian changed the subject. “How many episodes are left in Azure Sky?”
“One, I think.”
A-Huai answered casually, then paused. “Are you thinking of…”
“Yes.”
Mo Xian tightened her grip on her phone. “I’m going to the last episode.”
She had to see it. She had to figure it out.
Why had one person changed completely in such a short time, even down to her pheromones?
Sun Qiuqiu called to ask Su Tuantuan if she was going to Haicheng to see the concert. Su Tuantuan said no. Sun Qiuqiu warned over the phone, “If I give you a ticket and you don’t go, I won’t let you win when we play games during the next live broadcast!”
Su Tuantuan hung up and secretly checked for tickets online.
She was tempted.
She browsed around and saw that all tickets on major apps were sold out.
It was fine. She was just looking. She wasn’t really going. What was so great about Mo Xian?
Her finger uncontrollably clicked on her secondary Weibo account.
The fan group was full of people who hadn’t gotten tickets, wailing and complaining. Su Tuantuan hesitated for a few seconds.
She didn’t like the person Mo Xian.
But Mo Xian’s stage performance was worth seeing.
Just as a diversion. In this novel world, she couldn’t date, and it wasn’t her familiar environment. What was wrong with chasing a star—
She wasn’t going to cling to her anymore.
If she filmed ahead of time, she could probably make it back and forth in a day by taking a day off, though it would be tiring.
After all, it was Mo Xian’s concert, so it would be worth it.
But—
She didn’t have a ticket.
Su Tuantuan sighed again. See, it was fate. She didn’t want to go with the noisy Sun Qiuqiu. She felt that with Sun Qiuqiu’s big mouth, if she agreed, Sun Qiuqiu would blab about it to the whole world.
Mo Xian would surely find out too.
She didn’t want Mo Xian to know she was going to her concert.
Why should she? She didn’t want Mo Xian to think she liked her. Not even if she just liked seeing her perform.
It was a matter of pride.
Su Tuantuan lurked in the group for a long time until a major fan finally posted a message: “I grabbed ten tickets and invite you all to the concert! Repost my first Weibo post. Results will be announced at 2 PM! It’s time to test your luck. Don’t blame me for not helping you then!”
Su Tuantuan silently opened the major fan’s Weibo and reposted it once.
Feeling the chance of winning wasn’t high enough, she reposted it again.
A notification reminded her not to repeat the action, so Su Tuantuan tried again with a different emoji.
But looking at the original post—
In just a few minutes, there were thousands of reposts…
Several major fans in the group seemed provoked and started offering tickets to fans.
Su Tuantuan reposted them all without hesitation.
After trying more than ten times, the system prompted her for frequent operation, and Su Tuantuan finally stopped.
Looking at the long string of reposts on her homepage, she nodded in satisfaction.
Her legs were numb from squatting. Xiaoyu called from outside, “Jie Jie Tuantuan, the director is calling us! Are you done in there?!”
Su Tuantuan was quick. She finished the reposts, stepped out of the restroom looking utterly composed, and said, “Done.”
Xiaoyu mumbled, “I never knew you had constipation issues before. Hurry up! The makeup artist is rushing us.”
Su Tuantuan handed her phone to Xiaoyu and returned to the set.
Filming didn’t finish until evening.
After sending Xiaoyu away, Su Tuantuan applied a face mask and opened Weibo.
There were no new messages.
She tapped through each one.
So many people won, why couldn’t she be one of them?
She was disheartened, comforting herself, “Mo Xian isn’t that great anyway. It’s just singing and dancing. What’s so amazing about that?”
But then she remembered the last performance, the woman on stage whose voice struck straight to her heart.
Su Tuantuan rolled around on the bed in frustration.
She should have just agreed to go with Sun Qiuqiu.
“Ding dong—”
A notification sound came from her phone. Su Tuantuan picked it up, nearly dropping it on her face.
“Congratulations on winning! Please fill out your address via the link. Shunshui Express Mail delivery. You are expected to receive your tickets tomorrow or the day after.”
Su Tuantuan was ecstatic. She grabbed her phone, ready to fill it out. After thinking for a moment, for security reasons, she filled in her secondary Weibo account name.
Recipient: Little Thread Ball
Su Tuantuan kicked her feet in the air several times.
She was absolutely thrilled!
Maybe… this was called having dumb luck?
For the last live episode of Azure Sky, Su Tuantuan participated as usual. She shuttled between the film set and the variety show. Since her filming schedule was packed, the director didn’t complain much.
This time, the show chose a small cottage with an extreme rustic style.
Behind the cottage was a bamboo forest. A large pond was only a few steps away, where lotuses bloomed profusely. A few small wooden boats were docked by the shore, and a pavilion stood nearby.
Sun Qiuqiu was immediately captivated by the beauty, making “wow” sounds while holding her camera. When Su Tuantuan arrived, Sun Qiuqiu glanced at her sideways, “Oh, look who it is, our busy bee. You actually have time to record the show!”
She was still mad at Su Tuantuan for not going to the concert with her. Su Tuantuan smiled. “I had to come. After all, I took the money, I have to do the job.”
Sun Qiuqiu pounced on her, hugging her neck, begging and whining, “Go with me, go with me, go with me…”
Su Tuantuan shook her head. The director shouted, “Alright, get ready, we’re starting soon!”
Sun Qiuqiu let go of Su Tuantuan, teary-eyed. Soon, Ding Zhao and the others arrived too.
They started by handing over their phones and playing games. Su Tuantuan and Chang He were paired up. They performed well in the game and were assigned by the director to pick lotus pods during the drawing of lots.
The others were assigned to catch fish and dig wild vegetables. Su Tuantuan and Chang He rowed a small wooden boat. Chang He stood on the boat, swaying nervously, afraid of falling into the water. Su Tuantuan, wearing a large straw hat, dared not roll up her sleeves for fear of getting tanned. “It’s okay, I’ll save you if you fall!”
Chang He’s legs kept trembling. He held onto the boat and slowly sat down. Su Tuantuan rowed the boat deep into the large pond.
Su Tuantuan was fast and efficient at picking lotus pods. In no time, she had cut a large bundle. She really enjoyed eating lotus seeds. Fresh lotus seeds were sweet and tender, cooling the body. She could eat many in an afternoon.
She avoided the older ones because the bitter heart would have hardened inside.
After they finished, she and Chang He returned to the small cabin. The others hadn’t returned yet. Chang He chopped firewood to prepare dinner. Su Tuantuan sat on the porch swing, enjoying the fruits of her labor. She had peeled several seeds when she heard a familiar voice.
“Does it taste good?”
Su Tuantuan nearly fell off the swing.
Mo Xian had arrived without her noticing. She was wearing a hat, her hair had been dyed a different color, highlighted with purple, with a few strands exposed beneath her ears. She was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, and her legs were covered in mosquito bites.
Su Tuantuan snapped back. “It’s quite delicious.”
She pointed to the pile of lotus pods on the wooden stool. “They were just picked. If you want some, take one yourself.”
Mo Xian “Oh’d,” turned and took one.
Su Tuantuan didn’t feel right sitting anymore. She stabilized the swing and jumped down to get a basin from inside. “I need to use lotus seeds for cooking today, so I’ll peel some now. You eat yours.”
Mo Xian also dragged a small stool over and sat down.
The comments section was full of people yelling for her not to.
: “Why is Jie Jie sitting next to Su Tuantuan! Is that scheming one trying to piggyback on her fame again!”
: “Stay away from her, Mo Xian! I’m so mad! Your wife is angry!”
: “Mo Xian, Mo Xian, don’t sit there!”
Mo Xian was slow at peeling the lotus pod. After peeling, she tried to put the whole thing in her mouth. Su Tuantuan couldn’t help but laugh. “You have to peel off the green outer skin before you can eat it, like this—”
She demonstrated for Mo Xian once.
Mo Xian watched her peel, revealing a white, plump lotus seed.
Mo Xian didn’t move. Su Tuantuan “tsk’d” and handed the peeled lotus seed to her. “This one’s for you.”
After handing it over, Su Tuantuan froze.
Wouldn’t this give Mo Xian the wrong idea?
Su Tuantuan withdrew her hand, wanting to throw the seed back into the basin, but Mo Xian had already pinched her finger.
A jolt of electricity surged through Su Tuantuan’s fingertip.
Su Tuantuan felt light-headed.
Mo Xian looked normal as she took the lotus seed and tasted it.
“Delicious.”
Mo Xian gave her an objective review.
Su Tuantuan felt her ears burning, but she buried her head and continued peeling lotus seeds, not giving Mo Xian a response.
