Transmigrated as the Top-Tier Alpha's Secretly Married Ex-Wife - Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Su Tuantuan was in her room reading the script when a sharp, anxious knocking sound erupted at her door.
She opened the door, and Sun Qiushuang rushed in. “Tuantuan, save me!”
Sun Qiushuang bit her fist. “It’s terrifying, it’s terrifying! The ‘Lights’ are attacking me, saying I won’t admit it. Admit what? Mo Xian and I are, at most, an idol and a fan. What else could there be?”
Sun Qiushuang finished her wail and only then noticed someone sitting on the sofa.
Sun Qiushuang’s body stiffened. Mo Xian, who was wearing headphones, writing and drawing, looked up, meeting Su Tuantuan’s eyes. “Tuantuan, what’s wrong?”
Sun Qiushuang’s gaze darted between the two.
Su Tuantuan closed the door behind her. “Your fans are making a scene, thinking you came to see Qiushuang. Now they’re verbally abusing her online.”
She leaned lazily against the sofa, picking up the script to continue reading. “Is there a lot of outdoor filming tomorrow?”
Sun Qiushuang was startled before realizing the question was for her. She made an “Ah” sound. “Not much, I think…”
She edged closer to Su Tuantuan. “Tuantuan, did Goddess Mo come to see you?”
Su Tuantuan lifted her eyes, casually glancing at Mo Xian. “Mhm. She came to Mountain City for inspiration. She was passing by and dropped in.”
Sun Qiushuang immediately understood, drawing out a long, “Oh—”
Su Tuantuan looked at her, and Sun Qiushuang’s trailing sound got stuck in her throat.
Sun Qiushuang coughed twice. “About those online comments, you don’t need to worry. I’ll clarify later and tell them that Goddess Mo is just visiting the set and has no other intentions.”
She said carefully, “Or maybe we can say Goddess Mo is here to make a cameo in a small role? Wouldn’t that reduce suspicion? It could be explained as a friendly sponsorship.”
She looked at Mo Xian. “Goddess Mo, what do you think?”
As a top celebrity, reputation was naturally important. An idol’s fans were generally more fervent than an actor’s.
After all, they spent real money to attend concerts and buy albums. That fanatic affection required money.
Mo Xian observed Su Tuantuan’s expression for a few seconds. Her voice was gentle. “No need, thank you, Director Sun.”
Sun Qiushuang immediately felt that Goddess Mo was too polite. Why call her Director Sun? She was her fan—
Seeing the atmosphere between the two, Sun Qiushuang took the hint. “Then I’ll head out. You two talk slowly. Tuantuan, tomorrow’s filming isn’t urgent. You can come a little later.”
Sun Qiushuang’s steps were light and cheerful as she slipped out, looking exactly like the leader of a CP fan club.
The door closed. Su Tuantuan couldn’t concentrate on the script anymore. Mo Xian lowered her head. “Tuantuan, after this album is released, I’m going to step down.”
Su Tuantuan’s mouth dropped open slightly. Mo Xian continued, “I’m not doing it for you. I just feel like I’ve done enough.”
She picked at her headphone cord. “For the past ten years, I’ve worked under high pressure every day. My old injuries keep recurring. It’s unlikely I’ll be able to sustain the concert stage in the future. Sometimes I feel I’m letting my fans down, but I also feel they might be tired of chasing me like this. We should fly to a wider sea.”
Su Tuantuan felt a moment of panic. “Why are you telling me all this?”
She instinctively wanted to keep her distance from Mo Xian.
The loss of control from last time was still fresh in her memory. Facing Mo Xian, she didn’t dare tease her easily anymore.
Playing with fire leads to self-immolation.
Su Tuantuan didn’t dare provoke her anymore.
Mo Xian turned around. “If you’re willing, I’ll go public right now. Even if it’s not as a girlfriend, I want to tell everyone that I’m pursuing you, that I like you. I don’t want our relationship to be hidden in the shadows. I want to be with you openly and honestly.”
Su Tuantuan’s eyes flickered. She lowered her gaze, folding the corner of the script paper. “Mo Xian, you’re being a love fanatic again.”
But she did need to give Mo Xian an explanation.
Otherwise, she truly was acting like a blatant jerk.
Mo Xian looked a bit wronged, but Su Tuantuan wouldn’t fall for it again.
She knew how capable this woman was.
Su Tuantuan lifted her head. “Give me some time. Until this movie is released.”
Su Tuantuan paused. “Before that, let’s not see each other.”
This ambiguous entanglement needed to end.
Mo Xian’s heart twinged, but she wasn’t foolish. She understood the meaning behind Su Tuantuan’s words.
Mo Xian started gathering her things. “I understand. I’ll go back to my room to get my luggage and leave soon.”
Her head drooped. “When my new album is released, I’ll have a farewell concert. Will you come then?”
Su Tuantuan calmly rolled up the script, sweat dampening her palm. “We’ll see.”
Mo Xian was silent for two seconds, her voice deep. “Then walk me to the door.”
Su Tuantuan walked her to the door, her fingertip resting on the doorknob. Mo Xian placed her palm over her hand.
It was warm and dry.
Mo Xian’s grip was gentle yet firm.
Mo Xian asked, “Tuantuan, do you like me?”
Su Tuantuan met her clear, bright eyes.
The first time she saw her, Su Tuantuan only wanted to change the original plot. Later, she felt she shouldn’t get deeply involved.
She did have the thought of teasing and playing with Mo Xian—
She just wanted to see how strong she was.
But seeing Mo Xian’s face, she couldn’t harden her heart.
Her heart always ached subtly.
Whenever she thought Mo Xian might not love her, or that Mo Xian would leave easily, her own heart twisted.
She wasn’t necessarily more relaxed than Mo Xian, but stuck in the mud, she could only call Mo Xian a love fanatic.
Su Tuantuan composed herself, trying to appear nonchalant. She stood on her tiptoes and pecked Mo Xian’s pink lips. “I love you.”
Su Tuantuan said.
Mo Xian’s lips were bare, even a little dry. She had rushed to catch a flight and hadn’t even eaten a meal.
And now Su Tuantuan was sending her away just like that.
Su Tuantuan also felt she was being excessive.
The grievance in Mo Xian’s eyes intensified. She was like a little beast, seeking refuge when hurt. She wanted to curl up here forever.
Even if this was only a temporary haven.
Mo Xian’s eyelashes trembled slightly. She held back her tears, rubbing her nose against Su Tuantuan’s cheek. After a moment of hesitation, Mo Xian met Su Tuantuan’s fox eyes. She cupped Su Tuantuan’s chin, closed her eyes, and gently captured her lips, her tongue tracing the seam of her mouth.
Just a brief farewell.
No sex.
Mo Xian took two deep breaths before letting go. A mist rose in her eyes. Mo Xian didn’t dare look at her and opened the room door. “I’ll wait for you, Tuantuan. Tuantuan, I hope everything goes well for you from now on.”
Her wish was sincere.
She just hoped Tuantuan wouldn’t forget her.
She didn’t look back, afraid she wouldn’t be able to control her emotions.
Tuantuan probably wouldn’t like her if she broke down.
Su Tuantuan didn’t speak. Mo Xian suppressed her emotions, heading straight back to her room without looking back. Su Tuantuan closed the door, leaning her back against the door panel, slowly sliding down.
A little while later, she heard the sound of luggage wheels rolling across the floor in the corridor.
The sound stopped in front of her door.
“Knock, knock.”
Mo Xian knocked twice.
Su Tuantuan rested her head on her knees, hearing Mo Xian whisper, “I’m leaving.”
Getting no response, the luggage wheels started rolling again.
Su Tuantuan tilted her head, listening to the sound of the suitcase rolling away. She lightly raised a finger and wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
What was there to cry about?
Su Tuantuan said, “You chose your career, so you have to accept that choice.”
The future was full of variables.
She didn’t know who Mo Xian would end up with or who else she might fall in love with.
All she could do was run like hell.
To reach the world she wanted to be in.
Hoping that world would have Mo Xian.
Regarding the fans’ speculation, Mo Xian posted a message on Weibo.
Mo Xian: “It’s absurd. If I had a girlfriend, I would announce it myself. I hope everyone doesn’t pay excessive attention to my private life. Please live your own lives well.”
Fans had mixed reactions. There were many CP fans for Mo Xian and Sun Qiushuang, but with the celebrity herself clarifying, it meant it was impossible.
Since the celebrity said not to pay excessive attention, the fans dispersed, not criticizing her love life. However, a small number of frustrated fans resorted to verbal abuse on Weibo.
: “Mo Xian’s attitude suggests she has someone she likes, even if she doesn’t have a girlfriend yet, right? Is she preparing us? I buy albums and attend concerts so you can sing, not for you to fall in love!”
: “So why did she visit that set? It can’t be just to see Su Tuantuan, right? If it’s for Su Tuantuan, that would be truly absurd!”
However, as soon as these comments appeared, many fans started to become sarcastic.
No one forced them to buy albums or attend concerts. She was an artist, a singer and dancer, not their girlfriend, and certainly not their “pet” relationship to control. Why couldn’t she fall in love? Did her dating life affect their imaginary relationship with her?
Most fans were quite rational. After following Mo Xian for so many years, they wouldn’t dream of actually being with her.
The plots from idol dramas were only for fantasy. Who did they think they were to expect it to come true for them?
The matter quickly settled down, and Su Tuantuan began intense filming.
The co-actors were all very serious. The three of them acted as if they were walking on a tightrope, pursuing perfection meticulously.
Bai Xue and Qiao Yanran both visited Su Tuantuan while she was filming this drama. Bai Xue had accepted a role and would be joining a crew in a few days. After her visit, she was nearly scared to death by the atmosphere of Su Tuantuan’s set.
“Sun Qiushuang is such a psycho! She’s usually so carefree, but when she works, she’s like a maniac!”
Bai Xue ran away that night after only two days, not knowing how Su Tuantuan was managing in such a crew. She urged Qiao Yanran to check on her, worried Su Tuantuan might “go mad” and be unable to detach from the story.
Su Tuantuan was more open-minded. She took her to eat hotpot and also took her to view the river scenery.
Qiao Yanran spread her arms wide on the bridge, feeling the river wind blow freely. “April in Mountain City is much warmer than City A.”
It smelled like spring.
Su Tuantuan smiled, standing shoulder to shoulder with her. Qiao Yanran suddenly said, “Sister, I’m getting ready to meet the parents.”
Su Tuantuan raised an eyebrow. “Already?”
She recalled the two of them getting together around the New Year.
Qiao Yanran smiled brightly. “It seems fast, doesn’t it? But Lawyer Shen said there’s nothing wrong with meeting the parents early. It can make me feel more secure, but I’m still quite nervous.”
Qiao Yanran was nervous. She had never faced this kind of situation.
She was also afraid that the parents wouldn’t approve of her.
Perhaps it was because she cared too much.
