Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha’s Gorgeous Wife Who Keeps Trying to Seduce Me - Chapter 43
The next day, Chi Lengzhao brought her laptop to find Chi Jintang. She wanted to present her proposal for establishing a modern ranch overseas.
Chi Jintang flipped through the report. At first, he only skimmed it, but then he put on his glasses and started reading seriously, clearly surprised.
“You did all this?”
Chi Lengzhao glanced at him, trying to figure out what exactly he meant by that question.
His gaze remained fixed on the report, he looked absorbed but she couldn’t read his expression or guess what he was thinking.
The original Chi Lengzhao, aside from being pretty and good at flirting with women, had no real skills. She used to hang out with a group of useless socialites, trading compliments and pretending to be important. A report this thorough? No way she could’ve written it.
Chi Lengzhao put on a slightly guilty expression. “Yes, I did.”
“You really wrote this yourself?”
“Well… some of the department heads looked over it for me,” she admitted.
Chi Jintang gave a half-smile, vague, unreadable, but clearly not surprised.
He leaned back casually in his executive chair. “What made you want to get into this?”
“I just wanted to try it out, but I wasn’t being impulsive. I’ve thought about this for a while. Our company, ChiSheng Livestock, should start developing high-end products. Regular beef sells for what — thirty yuan a kilo? But grass-fed, naturally raised beef can go for ninety. That’s triple the price!”
“If we refine the feeding process, we could sell it for over a hundred per kilo.”
“And there’s the premium dairy market too.”
She kept going, outlining idea after idea, her tone passionate and persuasive.
Chi Jintang glanced at the proposed investment, thirty billion yuan. Not outrageous, but not cheap either.
“Dad, the more we invest, the bigger the return. Don’t you want ChiSheng to grow stronger and more competitive?”
She noticed his hesitation and decided to push a little harder.
“Once we acquire Meixi, we can use their existing distribution network to launch our beef products. Why not start preparing now?”
That finally piqued his interest. He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and looked up.
“Any updates on Meixi? You and that girl from the Shen family didn’t you go on some variety show together? I hear you two are getting along.”
“Please, everyone acts on those shows. But if there’s one thing, I’m good at, it’s charming women,” she said with a cheeky grin.
Chi Jintang chuckled. “I heard you’ve stopped going to bars?”
Chi Lengzhao blushed. “I was out of control before, I admit it. But I’ve changed, Dad. I won’t disappoint you again.”
He smiled faintly but said nothing.
Sensing he was softening, Chi Lengzhao leaned in again.
“Shen Zhixi said she’s willing to transfer her shares in Meixi to me, as long as we help cover seventeen billion of their debt.”
Meixi’s total debt was over forty billion. Chi Jintang would never agree to cover all of it. But seventeen billion? That was negotiable.
Sure enough, he didn’t immediately say no. Instead, he asked, “How much of Meixi does she own?”
“Ten percent,” Chi Lengzhao replied quickly. “Dad, that’s a great deal. Even at Meixi’s current market value, it’s worth at least thirty billion.”
“And why would she give it to you?” he asked slowly.
Chi Lengzhao laughed awkwardly. “Heh… well…”
Chi Jintang smiled too but he still didn’t answer.
“Dad, this is a smart deal. If Meixi merges with ChiSheng, the stock will surge. That ten percent won’t just be worth thirty billion — it could be a hundred billion. And if performance improves under our management, maybe even two hundred. Plus, if we say no now, Shen Jichang won’t be pleased. Zhixi’s shares are just a small piece — it’s her father’s shares that really matter.”
Chi Jintang narrowed his eyes. “And you’re not worried your wife will find out and turn against you?”
Chi Lengzhao snorted. “If it weren’t for Meixi, you think I’d marry her for fun? Once we get Meixi, even if she finds out, what can she do?”
Chi Jintang gave a small smile. “She’s still your wife. Treat her well, people are watching.”
Chi Lengzhao answered lazily, “Got it, Dad. Even if Meixi wasn’t involved, as long as she behaves, she’ll still be Mrs. Chi. It’s not like she’s losing anything, what’s she got to be upset about?”
Inside, Chi Lengzhao cursed herself, what a jerk. Disgusting. Shameless.
Chi Jintang didn’t respond right away. He sat in silence for a while, then let out a sigh.
“Lengzhao, I know… this hasn’t been easy for you.”
“There’s nothing hard about it,” she said quickly. “I’m part of the Chi family — of course I’ll do what’s best for us.”
Then, as if she remembered something important, she leaned forward with a flattering smile.
“Dad, don’t forget what you promised me.”
She wanted him to understand clearly what she expected in return.
In order to keep her willingly working for the family, Chi Jintang had told her many times, if she could bring Meixi into their hands, the ChiSheng Group would be hers one day.
Chi Jintang nodded kindly. “I haven’t forgotten. You’re smart and loyal, much better than Yaozong. He’ll never inherit the company. ChiSheng’s future will be yours.”
Chi Lengzhao couldn’t hide her joy. “Thank you, Dad.”
Then, out of nowhere, Chi Jintang asked, “So… how was your time with your aunt these past few days?”
She was caught off guard. “Oh, we took her around Haibin. A few scenic spots. Auntie hasn’t been back in years, so Zhixi and I showed her around. Why do you ask, Dad?”
Chi Jintang stood up and walked to the cabinet behind him.
“You and your aunt seem to be getting along well?”
She hadn’t felt this kind of restless agitation in a long time.
In the darkness, Chi Lengzhao reached for the glass of water on the bedside table and drank more than half of it in one go.
The cool water brought a bit of relief. She finally felt slightly better.
“Are you okay? Do you feel alright?” Shen Zhixi asked suddenly.
“I’m fine, just feeling a little hot,” Chi Lengzhao replied with an apologetic smile. “Did I wake you up? Maybe I should go sleep on the couch.”
“No, it’s alright.”
Shen Zhixi turned to face her. Her beautiful eyes glowed softly in the dark, long lashes gently fluttering. She looked absolutely mesmerizing. The way her gaze fell on Chi Lengzhao made her heart tremble uncontrollably, and her heartbeat suddenly sped up.
Chi Lengzhao swallowed hard. In that instant, a dangerous and overwhelming desire rushed through her. She wanted to reach over and pull Shen Zhixi into her arms, kiss her deeply until she ran out of breath. She wanted to press her down, bite the back of her neck, mark her with her scent, and wrap themselves up in passionate intimacy without end.
That wild thought came and went in a flash, but it left her shaken to the core. Her heart skipped a beat, and a cold sweat broke out across her back.
She had actually wanted to mark Shen Zhixi. To claim her. To do everything that came with being a married couple.
“Are you feeling unwell? You’ve seemed uneasy all day,” Shen Zhixi said.
Chi Lengzhao quickly turned away, afraid to look her in the eyes again.
She didn’t understand what was wrong with her. Why had she suddenly thought of something like that?
The unfamiliar emotion sent waves of panic through her. It wasn’t just confusion. It was genuine fear. Her face turned pale.
She tried to calm herself by reasoning it out. Maybe it was because the original owner of this body had left behind some unruly instincts. Or maybe it was Shen Zhixi’s charm. Her gentle presence, her warmth, her light. Maybe even she was falling under its spell.
“Maybe I had too much salt at dinner. I keep feeling thirsty and craving cold drinks,” Chi Lengzhao said casually. “Uncle Nian’s fermented fish was just too tasty.”
Shen Zhixi smiled softly. “Then drink a little less cold water. Too much of it isn’t good for you.”
“Mm, let’s sleep.”
Chi Lengzhao forced herself to stay calm, pulled the blanket up again, and lay down. She deliberately shifted further away from Shen Zhixi. After a while, she pulled the blanket down to her chest and let both arms rest outside to cool down.
She tried to clear her thoughts and focus on calming herself.
Ever since her teenage years, whenever she felt uneasy or on edge, she had always found ways to regain control.
“Chi Lengzhao, you’re an adult now. No one can hurt you. No one can hurt you.”
She silently repeated those words to herself over and over again.
Little by little, the storm in her heart began to calm. Her breathing evened out, and her mind slowly found peace.
After a while, Shen Zhixi heard the steady, quiet rhythm of breathing from Chi Lengzhao’s side.
She let out a silent breath of relief. Glancing over, she saw Chi Lengzhao sleeping with both arms outside the blanket and couldn’t help but sigh to herself. Alphas really had a different kind of constitution.
She waited a bit longer, just to be sure Chi Lengzhao was fully asleep. Then she gently reached over, tucked both arms back under the blanket, and pulled it up to her shoulders.
Shen Zhixi lay back down, quietly moving closer until she was next to her warmth. With that comfort, sleep soon followed.
In the middle of the night, Chi Lengzhao caught a faint trace of laurel in her dreams. The furrow between her brows gradually smoothed out as she slept.
Shen Zhixi: When my wife is by my side, I sleep warm.
Chi Lengzhao: When my wife is by my side, I sleep in peace.
