Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha’s Gorgeous Wife Who Keeps Trying to Seduce Me - Chapter 41
The three of them walked through the university campus. All around were young men and women. Some walked briskly on their own, some chatted and laughed in pairs or small groups, and others rushed past on bicycles.
Whenever Shen Zhixi went out, she usually wore sunglasses. Now that it was cold, she had also wrapped a scarf around her neck, with half her chin tucked inside it. Even dressed like this, people still glanced at her and Chi Lengzhao. Some secretly took a look or two, then quickly lowered their heads with flushed faces, whispering curiously to each other.
“Chi Moying?” someone called out excitedly, trying to confirm her identity.
Chi Moying stopped and looked up. “Li Aiqin?”
“Hahaha, yes, it’s me!”
Neither of them had expected that after more than twenty years, they would run into each other again on the campus of Haida University.
“You haven’t changed at all. Your eyebrows and eyes still look exactly the same.”
“You too, Dorm Leader. That smile of yours is just like it was back then.”
The two old friends gave each other a warm hug.
“When did you come back to China? It’s been over twenty years, and you never came back to visit your old friends.”
Chi Moying looked a little apologetic. “I’ve been living abroad this whole time. I haven’t really had a chance to come back.”
“You know, we only found out after graduation that you were the eldest daughter of the Chi family. You were so low-key. You really knew how to keep a secret.”
They started chatting like old times. Chi Moying introduced the people with her. “This is my niece, the daughter of Zhu Yufei. And this is my niece-in-law.”
Li Aiqin looked surprised. “Zhu Yufei’s daughter is already this grown-up? She’s just as beautiful as her mother was when she was young. I remember how surprised and happy we all were when we heard Yufei had married your brother. Fang Wenling actually predicted it. She used to say Yufei would marry into the Chi family one day.”
Chi Moying looked a bit uncomfortable and lowered her head, staying silent.
“Sigh. It’s already been ten years since Yufei passed away. Among all the students in the art department, she was the most reasonable and kind. It’s such a pity she left us so young.”
Just then, two students passed by and greeted them politely. “Hello, Professor Li.”
Li Aiqin nodded in response.
Chi Moying smiled and said, “Aiqin, you’re a professor now? Congratulations.”
Li Aiqin laughed cheerfully. “Don’t tease me. I’m nothing like you. I never had the courage to go abroad. I just love reading, teaching, and doing research.” Then she added, “Since we’ve run into each other today, let me treat you all to lunch. Let’s go to Baiwei Garden.”
Baiwei Garden was a high-end restaurant near Haida University. It was usually used for official school banquets or visited by wealthy students treating themselves.
For most students, eating there even once was a rare luxury.
Back when they graduated, the students in their dorm had been disappointed that they couldn’t afford to dine at Baiwei Garden. Instead, they ordered a few stir-fry dishes at the campus cafeteria, which was more affordable.
Unexpectedly, it was Chi Moying who had invited everyone to the largest private room at Baiwei Garden. She ordered a table full of the restaurant’s best dishes, and everyone enjoyed a delicious farewell meal. That was when most of them first learned that she was the heiress of the wealthy Chi family from Haibin.
Now, both women wanted to treat. Li Aiqin insisted, “This time, let me do it. I want to be a good host. You can treat next time.”
Since she had made up her mind, Chi Moying smiled and turned to Chi Lengzhao and Shen Zhixi. “Professor Li is treating us today. We’re going to the best restaurant near Haida.”
Chi Lengzhao and Shen Zhixi replied together, “Thank you, Professor Li.”
Li Aiqin laughed so hard she could barely keep her mouth closed. “Don’t be so formal. Your mother and I were very close. She used to visit our dorm all the time to hang out with Moying and always brought us snacks. She was the most down-to-earth art student I’ve ever met. Not like Zhou Meijing and her friends who acted like they were fairies ready to float off into the sky. Just call me Auntie Li.”
Chi Lengzhao couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright then, Auntie Li.”
Shen Zhixi smiled softly. “Hello, Auntie Li.”
Li Aiqin looked even more pleased. “Your wife is so quiet and graceful. She really reminds me of Rong Yin.”
Chi Lengzhao asked with interest, “Auntie Li, you’ve watched The World and Yin?”
“Of course I have. That drama was really popular a few years ago. A lot of my students loved it. Their wallpapers and screensavers were all from the show. I like to stay close to young people and understand their thoughts and tastes. Once I started watching it, I actually really liked it and ended up watching the whole thing. Moying, have you seen it?”
Chi Moying shook her head.
“You should watch it when you have time. Just search for it online. Since you’ve been living abroad alone, if you don’t keep up with local shows, I’m afraid you might forget how to speak Chinese in a few years.”
In that moment, it felt like Li Aiqin had gone back twenty years and become the energetic dorm leader she used to be.
Chi Moying nodded. “Alright, I’ll watch it when I get home.”
“But that actress who played Rong Yin, Shen Zhixi, hasn’t acted since then. She was doing so well in her career. Why did she stop? Now I don’t know what to watch anymore.”
Right in front of her, the real Shen Zhixi was speechless.
Chi Lengzhao thought that this former dorm leader didn’t act like a professor at all. With a smile, he said, “That actress got married. I heard she married someone with the last name Chi. Maybe she’s preparing something new. I think she’ll have a new project coming out soon.”
Li Aiqin’s eyes lit up. “Oh, I see. She got married and had a child. What a coincidence. Her husband’s last name is Chi too. Moying, that’s the same as yours.”
Chi Moying noticed Chi Lengzhao trying to hold back his laughter. She immediately understood what he was thinking and smiled gently, choosing not to expose him.
Chi Lengzhao glanced quietly at Shen Zhixi, wondering if she would feel uncomfortable because of the mention of having children. Under her sunglasses, he saw a faint blush rising on her fair skin.
Luckily, she didn’t seem upset.
After the waiter finished serving the food and left, Shen Zhixi took off her long coat, removed her scarf and sunglasses, and tied her long hair up. Her full appearance was now visible, but Li Aiqin still did not recognize her.
“Moying, your niece-in-law is really beautiful. Her skin is as white as snow.”
Chi Lengzhao suddenly realized that Auntie Li judged people entirely by their hairstyle and clothing. If someone changed either of those, she simply would not recognize them.
After so many years apart, the reunion lit a spark in Li Aiqin. She became lively and talkative.
She chatted about their old teachers, classmates, and dormmates. Then she brought up the famous incident from years ago involving a craft design competition.
“That Zhou Meijing was so unreasonable and arrogant. Just because her family had a small business and a bit of money, she looked down on everyone. But Moying, your Chi family is well-known and respected. You never acted superior. She walked around with her nose in the air, but you were always graceful and kind. That is what a true lady from a distinguished family should be like.”
Chi Moying’s lips curved slightly, but her eyes showed no amusement.
“There’s no need to talk about that now. What lady from a noble family? We were just classmates studying together.”
As the women spoke, Chi Lengzhao quietly placed a spoonful of Longjing shrimp into Shen Zhixi’s bowl. He knew it was one of her favorites.
Shen Zhixi rested her chin on her palm and listened with great interest to the stories of their youth. Her eyes didn’t blink, and she looked completely absorbed, as if she had not even noticed the shrimp in her bowl.
Chi Lengzhao took a bite of food and glanced casually out the large window. Across the street from the restaurant, he saw a narrow alley. On both sides of it, small open-air food stalls were set up.
It was lunchtime, and many students were already gathered there in groups, chatting and eating.
He suddenly remembered that Shen Zhixi had once said she had never eaten at food stalls like those. The thought lingered in his mind.
“Little Chi, eat something,” Li Aiqin said warmly.
Chi Lengzhao turned back and gave her a bright, polite smile.
“Thank you, Auntie Li.”
He glanced again at Shen Zhixi. The shrimp in her bowl was already gone.
He smiled slightly, picked up a piece of braised beef, and happily took a bite.
After the meal, Li Aiqin warmly invited Chi Moying to visit her home nearby, which was in the Haida faculty housing complex.
Chi Moying worried the younger two might be bored listening to older memories.
“Lengzhao, you and Zhixi go walk around. I’ll meet you later at the hotel.”
“Alright. Zhixi and I will head off first. I’ll call you later.”
“Go have fun.”
Chi Lengzhao turned to Shen Zhixi.
“Zhixi, do you want to take a walk? Or we could stop by a mall and pick out some clothes for you.”
Shen Zhixi shook her head.
“No. I just want to go home.”
He did not insist. He asked Xiao Song to drive them straight back to the villa.
Once they returned home, Shen Zhixi went to her room to change. Chi Lengzhao sat on the living room sofa and browsed through his phone.
Pantao had posted a new photo in her social feed. It was a selfie of her with Xiaomei the cat. Their two faces were side by side, and the photo had a sweet and affectionate feel to it.
Next to Xiaomei, Pantao even looked a little cute.
Chi Lengzhao’s finger hovered above the like button. Just as he was about to tap, he noticed the name “Yu” had already liked it.
There was no need to guess who that was.
If he liked it now, it would show “Yu and Zhao liked this.”
Seeing their names side by side made him hesitate. It felt a bit awkward. Better not to like it at all.
He did not leave a comment either. Instead, he glanced at his own WeChat profile. His current status message read:
“Though we look at each other, we do not speak. I wish to follow the moonlight that shines upon you.”
Chi Lengzhao frowned slightly.
That was a bit much.
He had no idea who the original Chi Lengzhao wanted to shine upon. Was it Si Yu?
Without another thought, he quickly deleted the status.
Just then, Hua Zi and Fangfang came in, carrying bundles of freshly laundered clothes.
Chi Lengzhao smiled.
“Our Hua Zi and Fangfang are so hardworking.”
Fangfang gave a shy smile.
“We should be.”
Hua Zi grinned.
“Miss Chi, are you giving us big red envelopes for the New Year?”
“Of course. Big red envelopes are a must,” Chi Lengzhao said with a cheerful laugh.
“Wow, thank you Miss Chi. Thank you so much,” Hua Zi and Fangfang said, almost clapping with joy.
The two of them laughed and ran upstairs with the clothes. As they went, a piece of clothing slipped and dropped to the floor with a soft thud.
Hua Zi let out a little gasp and turned around to pick it up.
Chi Lengzhao walked over and bent down first, picking it up for her.
Hua Zi stuck out her tongue playfully.
“Thank you, Miss Chi.”
Chi Lengzhao smiled.
“You’re welcome. Isn’t this my blazer?”
Hua Zi was naturally lively and loved to chat.
“The laundry shop said there was lipstick on the collar, right here on the left side. Miss Chi, you have to be careful next time. Lipstick stains easily. Good thing this jacket is dark. If it had been white, it would have been very noticeable. But don’t worry. I checked. The cleaners did a great job. No marks at all. You can wear it with confidence.”
Chi Lengzhao froze for a moment. Then she suddenly remembered—wasn’t this the blazer she wore two nights ago when she went to the bar? The lipstick stain must have come from when Si Yu hugged her while crying.
“Did your Miss see it?” she asked.
Hua Zi blinked. “She probably did. When the laundry staff came by yesterday morning, Miss was holding this blazer and stared at it for a long time.”
Chi Lengzhao was speechless.
Hua Zi and Fangfang carried the clothes upstairs again, chatting happily as they went.
Chi Lengzhao sat back on the sofa and let out a long sigh.
A blazer with lipstick on it. Even with a hundred explanations, it would be hard to clear up that misunderstanding.
Of course, that didn’t include someone as innocent as Hua Zi.
Chi Lengzhao’s lips curved slightly. She thought back to yesterday, when Shen Zhixi had given her the cold shoulder the entire day and even refused to let her sleep in the bed at night. Suddenly, everything made perfect sense.
Strangely enough, the more she thought about it, the better she felt. Looking at Zai Zai, who was sleeping soundly in his pet bed, she reached over and picked him up without caring whether he was willing or not. She began cuddling and kissing him affectionately.
“Zai Zai, you’re so cute. Let Mommy kiss you.”
“Tell me, who do you love more, Mommy or Māmī?”
“It must be Māmī, right? She’s prettier, isn’t she?”
Just then, Shen Zhixi, who had changed her clothes and come downstairs, saw the whole scene and paused.
Chi Lengzhao lowered her voice and whispered into the cat’s ear.
“Let me tell you a secret. Your Māmī may be beautiful, but she gets jealous easily. And she’s super petty.”
At that moment, Housekeeper Zhou came out from the kitchen, just about to report the dinner menu. He looked up and saw Shen Zhixi standing on the staircase.
“Good evening, Young Madam.”
Chi Lengzhao stiffened completely. She slowly turned around while still holding Zai Zai, forcing an awkward smile onto her face.
“Zhixi, when did you come down? You walk so quietly I didn’t even hear you.”
Shen Zhixi completely ignored her. She walked down the stairs and gently took Zai Zai from her arms.
Seeing that she was still being ignored, Chi Lengzhao tried to smooth things over herself. She turned to Housekeeper Zhou.
“What’s for dinner tonight?”
“Pan-fried pomfret, king crab…”
Just as he finished reading the menu, Shen Zhixi added calmly, “What about garlic? The pickled kind soaked in aged vinegar. Strong flavor. Add a plate. Your Miss loves it.”
Chi Lengzhao went silent.
Housekeeper Zhou, not understanding the context, simply nodded.
“Of course, right away.”
“Do we have chicken hearts?” Shen Zhixi asked next.
Housekeeper Zhou was taken aback. “No, we don’t.”
The household menu never included organ meats.
“Let’s try something new today. Add a plate of chicken hearts. Make sure Uncle Nian pokes a few holes in them with toothpicks so the flavor seeps in. And don’t forget, more vinegar. Your Miss loves strong, sour, and petty little dishes like that.”
Chi Lengzhao had no words.
Although Housekeeper Zhou found the request unusual, seeing that his Miss didn’t object, he quickly agreed and went to the kitchen to tell Uncle Nian.
As soon as he left, Chi Lengzhao immediately scooted closer to Shen Zhixi and apologized sincerely.
“Zhixi, please don’t be angry. I said something stupid. I didn’t mean it. I was just joking.”
Shen Zhixi gently stroked Zai Zai’s head while smiling tenderly. She looked incredibly gentle and caring. Yet she treated Chi Lengzhao like air and didn’t even glance at her.
Chi Lengzhao started to envy Zai Zai. That cat had hissed and scratched at Shen Zhixi before, and she still hadn’t gotten mad. Now he was enjoying all her affection.
Chi Lengzhao moved even closer.
“Please don’t be mad. I’m the jealous one. I’m the petty one.”
“I know,” Shen Zhixi replied slowly. “That’s why I added two extra dishes for you at dinner. Make sure you eat a lot.”
Chi Lengzhao was speechless again.
At dinner, Shen Zhixi personally placed food into Chi Lengzhao’s bowl.
“Here, have a whole garlic clove.”
A large clove of pickled garlic landed in her bowl.
She had only eaten one bite when her teeth felt like they were vibrating from the intense sourness.
Shen Zhixi turned to Housekeeper Zhou.
“See how much she enjoys it? She’s eating so happily.”
Housekeeper Zhou smiled warmly.
“Uncle Nian pickled this himself. It’s been soaking for three months. When he heard Miss wanted it, he asked Xiao Song to bring the whole jar from his home.”
Chi Lengzhao sat frozen. All she could do was silently thank everyone.
“And here’s your favorite, chicken hearts,” Shen Zhixi added sweetly, scooping a big spoonful into her bowl.
Chi Lengzhao barely managed to eat one. The moment she bit into it, a flood of vinegar hit her tongue. The intense sourness and spice shot straight up to her brain. She coughed hard, her eyes watering from the overwhelming taste.
Housekeeper Zhou immediately poured her a glass of water.
Uncle Nian had been worried about this dish. Miss had requested it to be heavy on the vinegar and flavor, and although it sounded odd, he had followed her instructions carefully.
“How is it, Miss? Uncle Nian poked extra holes and added two more spoonfuls of vinegar. It should be flavorful enough now.”
“It’s very… flavorful,” Chi Lengzhao managed to say, then chugged half the glass of water.
Shen Zhixi smiled sweetly.
“Look how much she’s enjoying it. She might even eat an extra bowl of rice tonight. Take your time, Zhaozhao. No need to rush. Both dishes are just for you.”
Chi Lengzhao was at a complete loss.
How had she never noticed that Shen Zhixi could smile like a kitten while biting like a tiger?
Well, it was her own fault for running her mouth. Now all she could do was suffer in silence and swallow the consequences along with the food.
Shen Zhixi seemed to be in an unusually good mood. After eating just half a bowl of rice and a few dishes, she walked upstairs with light and cheerful steps.
That left Chi Lengzhao alone at the dining table, silently wiping her tears while finishing her food. By the time she finally cleaned up both dishes, she was completely worn out. She collapsed onto the table, curled into a ball, and had to be helped up by Housekeeper Zhou and Fangfang.
Later that night, after drinking nearly two liters of juice, Chi Lengzhao finally felt her stomach settle. The pain had eased a little. She lay lazily on the sofa in the living room, hugging Zai Zai and trying to rest.
By then, Housekeeper Zhou and Uncle Nian had already gone home.
Chi Lengzhao told Hua Zi and Fangfang to go to bed early. Shen Zhixi had just finished her workout and was probably in the shower. The living room was empty and quiet.
Chi Lengzhao looked around, checking to make sure no one was around. Then she leaned over and planted a firm kiss on Zai Zai’s face.
“Your Māmī is so scary. If you ever upset anyone, just don’t let it be her.”
She had no idea that Shen Zhixi had just stepped out of the bathroom and was quietly heading downstairs to check on Zai Zai. She arrived just in time to hear that last sentence.
Shen Zhixi smiled and lowered her head, trying not to laugh.
She honestly hadn’t expected Chi Lengzhao to eat all of the food from earlier.
Suddenly, Chi Lengzhao cried out in pain, pushed Zai Zai aside, and rushed to the bathroom while holding her stomach.
That night, she ran back and forth to the bathroom six times. By the end, she was completely exhausted, barely able to sit up straight. She looked like she was about to collapse right there.
After a shower, she slowly and unsteadily walked out of the bathroom. It was already midnight.
Shen Zhixi watched her hunched figure struggle to grab the spare bedding and hesitated for a moment.
Dragging someone as strong as an Alpha to this point might have been a little too much.
“Don’t bother with the bedding. Come sleep on the bed,” she said softly.
Chi Lengzhao froze. She looked at Shen Zhixi lying in bed but didn’t move right away.
“The bed is warm,” Shen Zhixi added when she saw her hesitate. “If you catch another chill, your stomach will get worse.”
As soon as Chi Lengzhao heard the words about her stomach, her expression changed. She quickly said thank you, rushed over, and jumped into bed, pulling the blanket up around her.
The bed really was so much more comfortable.
Soft, warm, and cozy, it made her entire body relax.
A pleasant fragrance drifted to her nose. She took a small breath, eyes closed. It was a familiar scent, something light and clean, like laurel.
She realized it was Shen Zhixi’s pheromone.
Without thinking, Chi Lengzhao quietly leaned in and took a deep breath.
Omega pheromones really were something else. Her body felt warmer, more comfortable, and even her hands and feet regained some strength. Her face turned red, and she leaned in again, taking two more deep breaths.
Lying back in her warm bed, surrounded by the soothing scent of an Omega, Chi Lengzhao felt like it was almost worth the six trips to the bathroom.
“What are you smiling at?” Shen Zhixi turned to look at her and noticed that although Chi Lengzhao was lying still, there was a smile on her lips that had not faded.
And it was the kind of sneaky smile that could only mean she was thinking something inappropriate.
“Nothing. I wasn’t smiling.” Chi Lengzhao quickly straightened her expression. She had no intention of getting kicked out of bed again. She pulled the blanket over her head.
“My stomach still hurts. I’m going to sleep.”
She even turned around dramatically, facing away from Shen Zhixi.
Shen Zhixi said nothing more. She reached out to turn off both bedside lamps, pulled the blanket over herself, and lay down.
A few minutes later, she caught a soft scent. It was sweet, like rice wine, and reminded her of the fermented rice dessert she used to like as a child.
In the dim room, she took another breath. The scent was coming from Chi Lengzhao’s side.
She turned her head slightly, her gaze landing on the woman beside her.
The light from the window faintly illuminated the room. She could see the back of Chi Lengzhao’s neck, a few loose strands of hair falling around the gland that was now slightly exposed.
The sweet scent of rice wine grew stronger, completely filling Shen Zhixi’s senses.
Her body began to feel weak. Even the gland at the back of her neck reacted.
It was Alpha pheromone.
Quietly, Shen Zhixi leaned in and sniffed again. Her heart skipped a beat.
It was definitely coming from Chi Lengzhao’s gland.
The realization made her face flush red.
Was she really asleep? Or was she just pretending and deliberately releasing pheromones to tease her?
Shen Zhixi’s mind started to panic. Her face turned hotter and her body felt like it was burning up. She seriously considered getting up to find a suppression patch.
But before she could move, the scent started to fade. In just a few seconds, it was gone completely.
Chi Lengzhao’s breathing was slow and even.
She wasn’t pretending. She had really fallen asleep. Her body must have been completely drained from all the stomach trouble.
Shen Zhixi let out a silent sigh of relief.
But as she lay there thinking about how this woman had just released pheromones that stirred her emotions and then had the nerve to fall asleep like nothing happened, Shen Zhixi felt an unexplained wave of frustration.
She wanted to kick her right out of the bed.
She glared at the sleeping woman beside her, but her gaze lingered.
Chi Lengzhao was fast asleep. Her eyes were closed, her eyelashes naturally curled. Her breathing was soft and steady. The gentle rise and fall of her chest was soothing. Her lips, slightly parted in sleep, had a soft pink hue.
The scent of rice wine still lingered faintly in the air, tempting every nerve in Shen Zhixi’s brain.
Her heart began to race faster.
She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks as she stared at those lips. Slowly, she leaned closer, as if drawn by something beyond her control.
She had kissed those lips before. She knew exactly how soft and sweet they were.
She swallowed hard. Then, without thinking any further, she kissed them again. At first, it was a light and cautious kiss. Then she gently traced the shape of them, her lips moving slowly.
When she saw that Chi Lengzhao was still sleeping soundly, completely unaware, she grew bolder. Carefully, she parted her lips and deepened the kiss.
Chi Lengzhao: What are you doing to me?
Shen Zhixi: What do you think I am doing?
