- Chapter 82 - Won’t Pine Hopelessly
In the days that followed, the entire crew was caught up in a whirlwind of filming. Gu Qing still hadn’t found an opportunity to get Qi Siyu drunk—it would probably have to wait until the mid to late stages of the shoot.
Qi Siyu had no idea what Gu Qing was planning. Lately, she was in high spirits—one of the scenes she had long anticipated was finally coming up.
The female lead’s second personality, the seductive enchantress, was about to make her debut. Rather than filming in chronological order, the production team was shooting based on the female lead’s three personas.
Otherwise, constantly switching back and forth would lead to chaos.
Gu Qing had never played a character like this before, so Qi Siyu was full of anticipation. The styling photos alone had completely captivated her.
She was squatting outside the makeup room when Su Ningmo joined her. “Siyu-jie, what are you doing here?”
“Waiting for Gu Qing.” Qi Siyu replied.
“Hehe, I’m looking forward to it too,” Su Ningmo grinned. “How is someone as cool and aloof as Gu Qing going to pull off a seductive, flirtatious role?”
Gu Qing emerged with voluminous waves in her hair, smoky eye makeup, a curve-hugging silver sequined deep-V slip dress, polka-dot black stockings, and a black lace choker.
Her face remained that same icy, indifferent one—but the sensual outfit and figure created such a striking contrast that it completely overwhelmed her cool demeanor.
Qi Siyu rubbed her slightly itchy nose. Her hands were damp, and she didn’t dare look. Her gaze tilted toward the ceiling. “A-Am I getting a nosebleed?”
“Oh, right—you faint at the sight of blood. Yeah, it’s a nosebleed. Weather’s been super dry lately,” Su Ningmo giggled behind a hand.
“Drink more water,” Gu Qing said blandly as she walked by.
That only made Su Ningmo want to laugh harder. She had to clamp both hands over her mouth to stop herself from bursting.
It was obvious Qi Siyu was having a nosebleed just from looking at Gu Qing—but Gu Qing seemed completely unaware of how dangerously attractive she was.
“Thanks,” Qi Siyu muttered, feeling ashamed of her impure thoughts. She quickly tilted her head back, searching for tissues and a sink. Her movements were extremely practiced—clearly not her first rodeo.
“Here, here, Director Qi, take my giant water jug—chrysanthemum tea to cool your system,” Gu Xiaoling offered, generously handing over what she had originally prepared for herself. If only her teasing expression didn’t give away her true intentions, Qi Siyu might’ve been genuinely touched.
“Thanks a lot,” Qi Siyu replied, still avoiding Gu Qing’s direction—though her peripheral vision betrayed her, glancing over without control.
And she was rewarded with a glimpse of Gu Qing’s thigh wrapped in sheer black stockings—so thin they were almost transparent, like molten sugar poured over creamy jade. With each step Gu Qing took, the faint texture of her skin shifted visibly beneath the fabric, glowing with a soft, alluring sheen.
Gulp. Qi Siyu swallowed hard. That familiar itch returned to her nose, and she quickly averted her gaze again.
By the time they reached the set, the crew’s reactions weren’t much more restrained than Qi Siyu’s.
Gu Qing had always been stunning, but her cold aura kept people at a distance—most didn’t even dare meet her eyes.
That aura hadn’t changed. But if you avoided looking into her eyes… inhale, exhale… whew.
Qi Siyu suddenly felt annoyed—as if her precious treasure was being ogled by the world. She wanted to hide Gu Qing away and never let anyone else look.
Once filming began, however, all traces of that icy demeanor vanished. Every gesture Gu Qing made oozed with seduction. Her eyes, smoky gray, flowed like spring water after melting snow—full of emotional depth, bewitching with the slightest glance.
In that moment, she was no longer Gu Qing—she had become Hang Shixue’s second personality.
Everyone on set was utterly mesmerized, including the second and third female leads.
“Cut!” Qi Siyu shouted with irritation. “Liang Siqi! Lu Yingxiang! Wipe your mouths—your drool’s practically hitting the floor!”
Lu Yingxiang awkwardly raised her hand and wiped her mouth with the back of it. Luckily, it was dry—otherwise, she would be mortified.
But honestly, could anyone blame her? She was a full-blooded Alpha. Who wouldn’t go blank in front of a bombshell like that?
Even Liang Siqi, an Omega, was dumbstruck. This was clearly a Gu Qing problem—too damn hot.
Not that Lu Yingxiang would say any of this out loud. She could only keep apologizing like her life depended on it.
Liang Siqi, on the other hand, dared to joke, “Come on, Director Qi, give us a minute to build up immunity. Gu Qing’s charm isn’t something mere mortals can resist at first sight!”
Qi Siyu couldn’t argue with that. “Fine. Ten minutes. Get yourselves together.”
She had worried Gu Qing might not be able to pull off a role like this—but she’d nailed it. Just her gaze and body language alone were enough to captivate everyone on set.
I wonder what she looks like when she smiles…
During a break in filming, Qi Siyu made her own preparations—finding a waist bag and stuffing it with tissues, wet wipes, and cooling oil balm.
Back at the monitor, she sat with a daub of cooling oil on her temples, sipping chrysanthemum tea, tissues ready in hand for another potential nosebleed.
To her credit, she held out. Though her mouth went dry, her lower abdomen tightened, and even her molars itched with frustration—her nose, at least, stayed obedient.
Cooling tea and balm: MVPs of the day.
At dinner, Gu Xiaoling showed up carrying two meal boxes, handing one each to Gu Qing and Qi Siyu.
“Why the separation?” Qi Siyu asked.
“Oh, Gu-jie said today she’s giving you a ‘personalized extra-care meal,’” Gu Xiaoling replied with a grin.
“…Huh?” Qi Siyu opened the box—stir-fried pork liver with chives, duck blood with chili, steamed lean pork egg custard with donkey-hide gelatin, and longan-red date black chicken soup. All deeply nourishing and blood-replenishing.
Instantly, Qi Siyu’s face turned scarlet. “It was just one little nosebleed!”
Gu Qing replied flatly, “When the symptoms show on the surface, it usually means internal damage is already extensive. Better to replenish.”
Qi Siyu got it. Gu Qing had done this on purpose. Ahhhhhh—why was she so cute? “O-Okay then…”
Not long after, Ye Qi and Liang Siqi approached from opposite ends, both carrying something.
Liang Siqi held up a bag of red date cakes. “I thought dates help with blood, so I figured I would bring Director Qi a little something… but looks like you’ve already got a whole ‘recovery meal’ going.”
“What’ve you got, Xiao Ye?” she asked curiously.
“Blood-nourishing capsules! I take these all the time. My assistant stocked up,” Ye Qi said, eager to impress—only to find herself late to the party.
“Hahahaha, thank you both… It’s just that I’ve been a little overheated lately, not low on blood,” Qi Siyu said, scalp prickling. Why was everyone suddenly obsessed with boosting her blood?
In the end, Ye Qi took her capsules back, and Liang Siqi shared her date cakes with the group.
Later that evening, after filming wrapped, Liang Siqi walked back with Ye Qi.
Ye Qi making a move caught Liang Siqi off guard. This was her first time proactively giving something to Qi Siyu.
“Making your move at last?” Liang Siqi teased, maintaining her sunny, innocent image.
“Why not? It’s not like I lose anything if I fail,” Ye Qi said smugly. “My agent and I have been observing Director Qi these past few days. She’s actually pretty great. If I can win her over, who cares about the single persona.”
She looked very pleased with herself. “Besides, what’s the point of dating some Alpha from outside the industry? They’re useless—and it’ll only disappoint your fanbase.”
Liang Siqi clenched her fists, WTF. Seriously? Who does she think she is, “observing” Qi Siyu like she’s on the market?
She bit back her annoyance with a fake laugh. “Well, different strokes for different folks.”
“Sure, but you don’t have to go picking from the wilted pile, do you? I’m saying this because I care. As an Omega, you should treat yourself better,” Ye Qi said sanctimoniously, totally unaware of how smug she looked.
Liang Siqi was done. She’d been hoping Ye Qi might help smooth the way for her and Qi Siyu—but forget it. Spending more time around an idiot like this might actually make her dumber.
From that point on, Ye Qi started actively clinging to Liang Siqi—going so far as to treat her like a strategist, asking for advice while constantly trashing Liang Siqi’s girlfriend on the side.
Liang Siqi: …
Regret. All I feel right now is regret. Why did I ever expect anything from her?
But if I hadn’t tried with her, how would I ever justify what my ears and soul had to endure?
Liang Siqi egged Ye Qi on, urging her to go all in—be direct, be bold. She even laid out a whole case for why Qi Siyu was the type to like people who made the first move.
Ye Qi actually bought it. After all, back in school, people used to confess to her all the time—some of them were complete strangers who would block her way just to blurt it out.
She never liked those ugly losers, but hey, being confessed to felt pretty great.

The next morning, Qi Siyu stepped out of her room after getting ready, only to be startled by a bouquet of flowers tumbling into her apartment as soon as she opened the door.
She instinctively jumped back.
A closer look revealed a bunch of bright red roses.
Qi Siyu: …?
Who the hell has such tacky taste?
“Morning, Director Qi,” Ye Qi greeted her with a smile, leaning casually against the wall beside the door.
“Uh… morning.” Qi Siyu felt her hair stand on end. Only when she realized it was Ye Qi did her heart slowly return to its proper place.
But she soon realized she’d relaxed too early.
“Director Qi, want to have breakfast together? I like you, and I’m going to pursue you.” Ye Qi declared it like an official announcement, with a smug air that made it seem like Qi Siyu should feel honored just to be invited.
Qi Siyu was at a complete loss—too many things to unpack all at once. But she had to make one thing crystal clear:
“I don’t like you. I never will. And I hope you won’t disrupt the production schedule.”
Ye Qi stared at her in disbelief. “But you said you appreciated me!”
“That was just a director encouraging a new actor. But since you’ve misunderstood, I’ll be more careful going forward.” Qi Siyu shrugged.
“Oh well, I’m still going to pursue you.” After a moment’s inner struggle, Ye Qi concluded that Qi Siyu was just playing hard to get.
Qi Siyu locked her door and placed the bouquet off to the side for housekeeping to deal with.

In the dining hall, Qi Siyu, Gu Qing, and Gu Xiaoling had just sat down to eat when Ye Qi showed up with her tray.
Originally, Qi Siyu and Gu Qing were sitting across from each other, and Gu Xiaoling was beside Gu Qing.
Ye Qi made a beeline for the empty seat next to Qi Siyu and immediately started putting food on her plate. “This one’s good.”
The three of them: …???
“I’m pursuing Director Qi,” Ye Qi announced to Gu Qing. “I know you two are in the same company and have a close relationship. But let’s not forget—A and O are fundamentally different. I hope you’ll keep your distance from her. I’d get jealous otherwise. I mean, eating together like this is kind of intimate, don’t you think? Of course, it’s fine if I’m around.”
All three: …???
Gu Qing’s brow furrowed deeply, her gaze sharp as frost in midwinter.
Ye Qi instinctively trembled under her stare, her hand holding the chopsticks slightly shaking.
Still, she doubled down, “Even if we’re not dating yet, it’s only a matter of time. No matter how famous someone is, there should still be boundaries.”
Gu Qing had never imagined someone would come up to her and try to stake a claim on Qi Siyu, as if calling dibs.
Qi Siyu looked like she might burst into laughter from sheer rage. She didn’t bother being polite anymore. “If you’re that delusional, go get help. Who the hell do you think you are? Just because you fancy someone doesn’t mean they’re yours. What, you out here shadowboxing now?”
“You… you swore at me!” Ye Qi looked utterly scandalized, like the sky had fallen.
“That’s a special privilege for crazies like you. Our Director Qi is usually very polite—she never even curses when yelling at people,” Gu Xiaoling said as she got up and pushed Ye Qi away. “Now scram. Don’t ruin our meal.”
Ye Qi protested, “Why do you care what I do? Don’t touch me! My outfit cost 5,000 yuan—you better be ready to pay if you ruin it!”
“Oh please, just 5,000? Only Z-list nobodies like you care about that. I make 50,000 a month.” Gu Xiaoling shoved her out.
The other crew members dining nearby kept their heads down but had their ears perked, trying to soak up every juicy detail of the drama.
Wow, they thought in unison. Ye Qi hadn’t even started dating Qi Siyu and already had the nerve to warn off Gu Qing?
Could it be… Director Qi gave her the wrong impression?
Even Gu Xiaoling was starting to wonder. “Did you lead her on or something?”
“Don’t slander me,” Qi Siyu looked equally baffled. “You know how I am—I scold actors all the time when I’m stressed. Sometimes I throw in a compliment to motivate them, like ‘Not bad, keep it up,’ but that’s standard director talk!”
That’s what her dad always did. Every director she’d shadowed had done the same—criticize, then dangle a little praise like a carrot.
“And I’ve barely interacted with her! Her role’s small, we’ve exchanged maybe a few lines total!” Qi Siyu felt more wronged than the heroine of a tragic drama.
“Tsk, that’s what you get for playing the eternal-single card.” Gu Xiaoling smirked. She snuck a glance at Gu Qing, whose expression was darker than the bottom of a burnt pot—cold as liquid nitrogen. She immediately toned it down.
Qi Siyu mulled things over. She scarfed down her breakfast. “I’ll go take care of this.”
She found the assistant director and reassigned all of Ye Qi’s scenes to herself for supervision, adjusting the schedule accordingly.
Then she went to find the crew’s top gossip hub—the resident loudspeaker. Everyone’s business flowed through her.
The woman paled when summoned, assuming Qi Siyu was going to warn her about spreading the earlier scene.
“You’ve got a lot of friends and you’re great at picking up gossip,” Qi Siyu said quickly, before the woman could explain. “So I need you to help me spread something: I have someone I like. A hopeless crush. One-sided. Unrequited.”
The loudspeaker’s lips parted in awe. What an efficient way to kill a rumor. She couldn’t help giving a thumbs-up.
“But just saying it might not convince people,” the woman cautiously suggested. “How about you stage a heartbreak? Like—drink yourself into a stupor, don’t answer your phone, assistant breaks in to find the room full of empty bottles…”
“Oh, and scatter some broken flowers or smashed gifts around for effect!”
She was getting way too into it.
“You seem to know what you’re doing.” Qi Siyu considered the plan.
“Of course! I’ve seen all kinds of juicy drama. This is classic.” She looked quite proud.
“Great. My assistant will send you a bonus.”
The woman: !? There’s a bonus?!
God, I want to cling to Director Qi’s thigh.
When she later saw the five-figure bonus, she nearly wept with gratitude.
No wonder Ye Qi wanted to cling to her too. Even I’m tempted now.

Meanwhile, Gu Qing was still stewing, her aura like a thundercloud.
Gu Xiaoling hesitated, then said, “Jie… that girl’s nuts, yeah, but let’s be honest—Director Qi is a hot commodity. If no one puts a label on her, this kind of thing is going to keep happening.”
“I know,” Gu Qing replied quietly.
She had always been good at masking her emotions, never letting them affect her work. When the camera rolled, she transformed.

Once the revised call sheet went out, Ye Qi was livid.
But with both her “strategist” Liang Siqi and target Qi Siyu busy filming, she could only vent to her manager.
The manager was stunned by Ye Qi’s approach. How dumb do you have to be to think that’s how you win someone over?
Terrified she’d get blacklisted before even debuting, the manager rushed in to do damage control.

The long day finally ended, and Gu Qing had managed to suppress her emotions flawlessly.
Ye Qi wasn’t worth the trouble. What mattered now was getting Qi Siyu drunk—to confirm her suspicions.
But before she could act, Qi Siyu mysteriously slipped away to pick up some “takeout,” returning with a haul of fruit wine.
In her room, Gu Qing and Gu Xiaoling sat on the sofa, listening to Qi Siyu enthusiastically explain her heartbreak plan.
Gu Xiaoling nodded in full agreement—this was peak Qi Siyu.
“Unrequited love should be drowned in alcohol,” she said with dramatic emphasis on “alcohol,” though Qi Siyu completely missed the sarcasm.
“You want us to watch you drink?” Gu Qing’s gaze was deep and unreadable.
“Exactly! What if I get wasted and go off the rails? That lunatic really pissed me off today.” Qi Siyu was still fuming at Ye Qi, but knew drunk retaliation was never the answer.
“You’re so obedient,” Gu Qing murmured, voice soft and distant, her eyes holding a storm of emotion as she looked at Qi Siyu.
There’s no such thing as unrequited love.
