- Chapter 105 - I Can't Take a Shower, I Need Your Help...
The next day, the alarm clock woke up the still-sleeping Qi Siyu.
Instinctively, as usual, she tried to use her waist and abdomen muscles to propel herself upright, but something obstructed her, and she fell back onto the bed.
It was only then that she fully woke up, dazedly opening her eyes and looking down, only to see the person she had been holding in her arms.
In an instant, Qi Siyu’s eyes widened, and she shuddered in shock.
W-What happened here?
The small figure was buried in her chest, the curve of her neck was prominent, and the familiar, cute bump on her shoulder clearly marked her identity.
One glance, and Qi Siyu confirmed it was Gu Qing.
Her heart eased slightly—what in the world was going on?
Ahhhhhh! Qi Siyu panicked, worrying that she had drunk too much the night before and had brought Gu Qing over in a drunken stupor, engaging in reckless behavior.
“Your heartbeat is loud,” Gu Qing’s indifferent voice suddenly sounded. Her throat was a little hoarse, clearly a result of overusing it.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you,” Qi Siyu quickly apologized.
Gu Qing smiled faintly. “It’s about time to get up.”
She sat up, her hair falling around her as she moved, gathering around her chest.
Her pajamas were slightly oversized, revealing a delicate shoulder, and her originally fair skin was now covered in vivid red kiss marks.
Qi Siyu couldn’t even imagine how she had behaved like a mad dog, biting her shoulder like that last night.
She swallowed nervously. Though she couldn’t remember what happened the night before, her body still recalled the delightful sensation, responding on its own.
Ahhhhhh! Qi Siyu held her head in her hands, feeling guilty. “Sorry, I got drunk last night and have no idea what happened.”
“Although it sounds like I’m making excuses, I really do black out when I’m drunk. Could you tell me what happened? I’ll take responsibility for anything I should.”
Gu Qing let out a soft laugh, so faint that Qi Siyu almost thought she had imagined it.
“You said last night that as long as I pleased you, whether it’s the leads or supporting roles in your future works, you’d make sure to give me a role,” Gu Qing said casually, as if it was nothing, though it was completely made up.
After all, Qi Siyu didn’t remember anything, so whatever Gu Qing said went.
Qi Siyu was stunned. “W-Wait, that can’t be true?”
She had never thought about using her position to manipulate things like that. She prided herself on her integrity!
Gu Qing reached out and grabbed her phone from the nightstand near Qi Siyu, her body leaning over Qi Siyu’s, half-pressing into her.
There was no real weight, but they could still feel each other’s warmth.
As Gu Qing drew closer, Qi Siyu could also smell a faint chocolate scent.
Her body stiffened, and she held her breath, terrified of offending Gu Qing.
To her surprise, Gu Qing took the phone but didn’t move away from Qi Siyu. Instead, she propped herself up with one hand and used the other to play a recording.
Qi Siyu’s voice came from the phone, the exact same words Gu Qing had just said, only with the subject swapped.
Qi Siyu had no way to deny it now. Even though it was unbelievable, that was indeed her voice.
Her face fell as if a shadow had been cast over her. How could she have said something so shameless?
She couldn’t accept it—it felt like a huge stain on her otherwise pure soul.
Drunk, Qi Siyu had been easy to manipulate, and Gu Qing had gently coaxed her into saying those words.
Gu Qing knew that Qi Siyu had a strong sense of morality and shame. Seeing her now, trying to shrink away into the shadows, Gu Qing leaned down and kissed the corner of her eye.
“Director Qi, I’ll be counting on you from now on,” Gu Qing said, her voice full of trust.
Counting on me?
Qi Siyu swallowed hard and couldn’t resist reaching up to touch her eye. The soft, warm sensation lingered.
Her words were a full affirmation of Qi Siyu’s abilities, which filled her with a sudden sense of pride.
The shame of potential manipulation melted into a sense of responsibility. What had happened had happened, and there was no use in blaming herself. It was time to take action and make things right.
“Well, if there’s a role in my future projects that suits you, I’ll definitely consider you. And if something’s more suitable for another director, I’ll recommend you. But, as for that…‘serving you’ part, that was just the ramblings of a drunk, it wasn’t my true feelings,” Qi Siyu stammered, blushing and apologizing.
Gu Qing chuckled softly. “Does Director Qi not have any physiological needs? Or is it that I can’t fulfill them?”
Her warm breath brushed against Qi Siyu’s ear, causing her lips to tremble, and she couldn’t form a single coherent word.
Eventually, as it was almost time for work, Gu Qing, in an act of mercy, let Qi Siyu off the hook. She got up and left.
Qi Siyu collapsed onto the bed, breathing heavily as if her soul had been drained.
Gu Qing changed into her clothes and went to her own room to freshen up. After watching her leave, Qi Siyu slapped her own face and walked into the bathroom.
The mirror on the wall reflected her flushed face without any mercy, forcing her to face the reality.
Ahhhhhh! I swear, from now on, if I ever touch alcohol again, I’m a dog, Qi Siyu screamed in her mind.
Life was like this—no matter how much she was falling apart, she still had to hide her emotions and go to work. Qi Siyu was no exception.
She quickly pulled herself together and grabbed a cold drink from the fridge to cool her face down.
Thankfully, this was a career-driven story, and Qi Siyu’s brain could handle it. If she had to watch Gu Qing getting all lovey-dovey with someone else on camera, her mind might just short-circuit.
For the rest of the day, aside from necessary work contacts, Qi Siyu prohibited herself from speaking or even making eye contact with Gu Qing.
Every time she saw Gu Qing, all she could think of was her saying “physiological needs,” and how even an expressionless face could be so seductive.
“Ahhhhh, Gu Qing, why did you make the host avoid you like this? What do I do now? Hurry up and come up with something!” The system still had no patience, constantly pushing her forward.
“Shut up, don’t shout,” Gu Qing, unlike Qi Siyu, chose to tell the system to be quiet.
Lying back and winning, that was the way to go.
That night, Gu Qing didn’t proactively seek out Qi Siyu. In fact, Qi Siyu was the one who felt restless.
She couldn’t deny it—she was very much concerned about Gu Qing! Otherwise, she wouldn’t have wanted to run together every day.
Now, she had the beauty in her arms, yet because of her own awkwardness, she had pushed their relationship further away.
Qi Siyu had always believed in a step-by-step approach to relationships: strangers, acquaintances, friends, close friends, and so on.
But now, her relationship with Gu Qing had taken a huge leap.
If it was just a drunken mistake, fine, but she had gone crazy, even trying to manipulate things under the table. Qi Siyu couldn’t quite accept this version of herself.
Unable to accept herself, she also couldn’t bear the distance between them, caught in a whirlwind of confusion.
Day and night, her mind swirled with thoughts of Gu Qing, as if in a dream where Gu Qing chastised her for being a scumbag.
Qi Siyu woke up with a start, sweating heavily, as countless versions of Gu Qing chased after her with swords in her dream.
She lay still for a while, calming her heartbeat. It was already 5:30 AM.
Unable to fall back asleep, she decided to get up and go for a run around the hotel.
The morning breeze was chilly, and as soon as Qi Siyu stepped outside, she shivered. It was cold, but maybe it would help clear her mind. She hoped she’d think things through.
After running for a while, her body warmed up. She suddenly sped up, wanting to let go of all her worries, to let the wind blow them away.
“Bang!” She collided with something.
Both Qi Siyu and Gu Qing tumbled to the ground.
Gu Qing, shorter, hit Qi Siyu’s nose with her forehead, making Qi Siyu tear up instantly, her eyes watery.
“Sorry, sorry…” Qi Siyu quickly apologized, scrambling to get up and help the person she had bumped into. To her surprise, it was Gu Qing.
Gu Qing was sitting on the ground, her hands propped up, a phone screen shattered beside her.
“It’s fine,” Gu Qing said, looking at the abrasions on her palm. “I shouldn’t have been looking at my phone on the track.”
“My fault, I thought there wouldn’t be anyone around and I was running carelessly,” Qi Siyu said, noticing the scrape on Gu Qing’s hand. “Let me bandage your hand. Your phone is broken, I’ll pay for it.”
“It’s fine, really,” Gu Qing said, calmly refusing.
Qi Siyu insisted on taking her to her room to treat the wound. After cleaning it and applying medicine, she took out some bandages, but Gu Qing refused again.
“My character wouldn’t wear a bandage,” she said, but Qi Siyu was adamant.
“We won’t reveal the wound on camera today, so just a simple bandage to prevent any infection or further damage,” Qi Siyu said firmly.
Gu Qing gave in, saying “Mm.”
After wrapping the bandage securely, Qi Siyu reminded her, “Don’t let it touch water for the next few days.”
Gu Qing tilted her head thoughtfully for a moment before nodding. “Okay.”
Qi Siyu’s heart skipped a beat at the sight, and she quickly lowered her head, too embarrassed to look her in the eyes.
Before she could make any rash moves, it was better to be cautious.
Qi Siyu couldn’t help but wonder—Gu Qing seemed so cool and distant, so how could she have agreed to Qi Siyu’s unreasonable request after a drunken night?
She was just a rising director with a little fame, backed by her father. She didn’t need Gu Qing’s help, did she?
Unless…
Qi Siyu shook her head. She had only known Gu Qing for about a month. How could there be deep, secret affection?
In fact, she only liked Gu Qing because she was beautiful, familiar, and comfortable to be around. That’s all.
Yet another day went by without them exchanging words, and when Qi Siyu returned to her room, she found Gu Qing waiting by the door.
Gu Qing waved the bandages in her hands and said, “I can’t take a shower. I need your help.”
