- Chapter 27 - Sharing a Bed
Due to the aftereffects, Zhao Zhiyi’s gland was even more sensitive than usual. When Meng Ze took that bite, Zhao Zhiyi immediately went weak all over. “Meng… Ze…”
Meng Ze paused and said, “Call my name again.”
“Meng Ze!” Zhao Zhiyi lifted his head with teary eyes. “Are you a dog? It really hurts!!”
Five minutes later, Zhao Zhiyi was leaning by the window, still sobbing intermittently. Meng Ze was using a tissue to wipe his tears. “I didn’t use much force…”
“I don’t want to cry either… but… ugh…” Zhao Zhiyi covered his eyes with a tissue. “Am I broken? Why won’t my tears stop!”
“If something is wrong with me, it’s definitely because you bit me, wahhh…” Zhao Zhiyi cried while calling Zheng Xinyun on his phone. His first words were: “Dr. Zheng, save me…”
Dr. Zheng was very steady: “Listening to your voice, are you being [censored] on the bed by Meng Ze? I can’t save you from that.”
Zhao Zhiyi: “…?!”
“Stop talking nonsense.” Meng Ze frowned and took the phone. “He can’t stop crying. What’s the reason?”
“Although my major is AO pheromones, I can’t be sure with such a vague description,” Zheng Xinyun said. “If I have to diagnose… did you hit him until he cried?”
Meng Ze: “Next month, I will consider terminating your employment.”
“Wait, wait, wait.” Zheng Xinyun cleared his throat. “But you have to explain the cause and effect clearly so I can judge.”
“I came to pick him up from work. He was dizzy, so I gave him a temporary mark, and he suddenly became like this.” As Meng Ze spoke, he tried to wipe Zhao Zhiyi’s face, appearing uncharacteristically flustered. “What’s wrong with him?”
“Shouldn’t I be asking you?” Zheng Xinyun said. “He has a pheromone dependency on you now, and Omegas have a natural submissiveness toward Alphas. When you injected pheromones into his gland, what were you thinking?”
Meng Ze froze.
What was he thinking at the time?
Looking at Zhao Zhiyi’s bright red nape and rounded earlobes, he remembered the way Zhao Zhiyi had sprawled over him, crying breathlessly, crying miserably yet scolding him fiercely. That appearance was actually very cute.
Could it be because he thought that way, the pheromones injected into Zhao Zhiyi’s gland also transmitted that “command” to him?
“Case closed, right?” Zheng Xinyun clicked his tongue in admiration. “You young couples have so many tricks, but I don’t want to be a part of your play. Can you let me go now? I’ve worked two night shifts and I’m about to drop dead. Let me shower and enjoy a beautiful sleep, okay?”
Meng Ze hung up the phone.
Zhao Zhiyi choked out, “Did Dr. Zheng say how to solve it?”
Meng Ze: “Take another bite.”
“You’re lying to me, right?!” Zhao Zhiyi bristled instantly.
Meng Ze looked at his nape, that delicate little gland was swollen again. Another bite would truly be painful. So, he said, “Another method works too.”
“What method?”
Meng Ze pulled open his collar: “You bite me.”
Zhao Zhiyi hesitated for a moment before saying, “Um, I’ve been studying lately. The teacher said an Alpha’s gland shouldn’t be touched casually, even between married couples. If I bite you, you won’t just strangle me to death, will you?”
“It’s not like you haven’t bitten it before,” Meng Ze said. “Did I do anything to you then?”
That was true.
“Then… I’m biting?”
“Mm.”
Zhao Zhiyi slowly leaned over. Meng Ze proactively turned his head to expose his gland. Zhao Zhiyi gripped his shoulders, opened his mouth, and tried hard to grind with his teeth. “I don’t think I can break the skin.”
He hadn’t been able to break it before.
After all, Omegas didn’t possess sharp fangs specifically for biting glands like Alphas did, and an Alpha’s gland wasn’t thin-skinned like an Omega’s.
Meng Ze’s breathing became somewhat heavy. Zhao Zhiyi guessed he was in pain and felt quite embarrassed. “How about you bite me instead?”
“It’s fine.” Meng Ze took something out of the glove compartment and made a stroke across his gland. “Done.”
Zhao Zhiyi was stunned.
Meng Ze actually used a small knife to cut his own gland!
Although he didn’t use much force and it wasn’t bleeding, an injury to the gland was very serious for an Alpha.
“You…”
“Is the opening too small?” Meng Ze asked. “Should I cut it a bit more?”
Zhao Zhiyi quickly grabbed his hand. “That’s a gland, not a bag of rice!”
Meng Ze pressed the back of his head. “Bite. Stop crying.”
“Oh.” Zhao Zhiyi sniffled. Suddenly, he dived into Meng Ze’s arms, rubbing around randomly and wiping all his tears onto Meng Ze’s shirt.
Meng Ze: “…”
Taking this opportunity, Zhao Zhiyi bit down on the wound Meng Ze had cut.
Biting the gland didn’t feel particularly special, it was like opening a barrel of vintage wine that had been cellared for years. The moment it was unsealed, the aroma of alcohol hit his nose, making Zhao Zhiyi feel a bit tipsy.
He didn’t know why Meng Ze liked biting glands so much.
“Better?” Meng Ze stroked his thin back. “Still want to cry?”
“No.” Zhao Zhiyi let go of him. Seeing his frowning expression, Zhao Zhiyi suddenly laughed, even though tears still hung on his face. “The two of us biting each other is like two little dogs.”
Meng Ze didn’t speak. Zhao Zhiyi realized his words were too forward. In the original novel, Meng Ze was a standard overbearing CEO. How could an overbearing CEO allow someone to call him a dog?
“I…”
Meng Ze suddenly reached out and pinched the soft flesh on his cheek, saying, “If you’re a dog, you must be a Shiba Inu.”
“Huh?” Zhao Zhiyi asked. “Why am I a Shiba Inu?”
Meng Ze: “Stubborn.”
Zhao Zhiyi huffed. “Then you’re definitely a wolfdog.”
“Oh?”
Zhao Zhiyi used one word to describe him with equal coolness: “Fierce.”
Meng Ze chuckled.
Driving back home, Zhao Zhiyi kept his promise and cooked dinner.
He had specifically gone to buy groceries yesterday, planning to make sweet and sour pork ribs, boiled fish slices, meatball soup, and stir-fried greens. Usually, he only ate one meat and one vegetable dish for himself. He didn’t know if all Alphas ate a lot, but even the O-looking Su Jiyu’s appetite was double his own, which made him quite reflective.
Meng Ze stood in the kitchen watching him work. “Do you need me to help…”
“No need.” Zhao Zhiyi quickly put the fish slices into the pot, taking a moment to answer Meng Ze: “Go play by yourself.”
Meng Ze said, “Should I at least give you a hand?”
Zhao Zhiyi scooped out the parboiled fish slices and said, “You’ll only be a stumbling block to me.”
President Meng, who was always invincible in the business world, was being rejected for the first time. He left the kitchen feeling rather dejected.
In the past, after work, there was seemingly nothing but eating and continuing to process documents, no different from being at the office. Now, such leisure and relaxed time was rare. For a moment, Meng Ze didn’t know what to do.
So, he recalled Zhao Zhiyi’s daily routine and turned on the TV to watch a variety show. Although he didn’t quite understand what the group of people was awkwardly acting out, it served to pass the time.
He Linrong brought Su Jiyu to the restaurant. She had reapplied her makeup and changed her clothes, looking impeccable. As she walked, she said coldly, “Miss Lin has always liked you. Perform well.”
Su Jiyu had his hands in his pockets, his expression casual, treating her words as wind past his ears.
He Linrong warned, “This marriage alliance is very important. If you dare mess it up for me.”
“Will you break my legs again and lock me in the attic?” Su Jiyu asked. “You might as well just kill me. It’ll save you from wanting to vomit every time you remember I’m an Alpha. Why make things hard for yourself?”
A sharp glint flashed in He Linrong’s eyes. “Cut the sarcasm. I didn’t hit you that hard back then, those wounds were clearly torn open by yourself.”
She paused, then said with disgust, “You’re a pervert with self-harming tendencies. How could you be my son?”
Su Jiyu smiled slightly. “It’s quite logical for a mentally twisted psychopath like you to give birth to someone like me, isn’t it?”
Outsiders looking at this glamorous mother and son would never guess they were actually at each other’s throats. Once they reached the reserved table, the parents exchanged pleasantries. The Omega sitting opposite Su Jiyu was quite pretty and asked shyly, “Why didn’t you come yesterday? I waited for you for a long time.”
Su Jiyu propped up his chin, his finger slowly tapping that orange avatar on his phone with no response. He Linrong smiled and said, “His illness worsened yesterday. I’m truly sorry.”
“It… it’s okay.” Miss Lin’s face was flushed. “Su Jiyu, what are your usual hobbies?”
Su Jiyu finally lifted his eyelashes. “Hobbies?”
“Yes, I like playing the piano and flower arrangement. What about you?”
Su Jiyu thought for a bit. “Playing with other people’s wives.”
Miss Lin: “…?”
He Linrong took a sharp breath. “…He’s talking about Meng Ze’s partner. You should know, Meng Ze is married. They grew up together and are close, so they hang out often.”
“I… I see.” Miss Lin pinched her fingers. “Then, do you have any dreams?”
Su Jiyu hummed. “Get promoted, get rich, and have my mother die.”
Miss Lin’s eyes widened.
He Linrong gritted her teeth: “Our relationship is good, so he’s always disrespectful like this. He didn’t scare you, did he?”
Miss Lin’s mother forced a smile. “This child is quite humorous.”
“Can I talk to you alone?” Miss Lin gathered her courage.
“Sure.” To He Linrong’s surprise, Su Jiyu agreed readily. The two rose and went to the restaurant’s garden. Miss Lin’s mother smiled and said, “Look at these two children. They look so well-matched standing together.”
“Exactly,” He Linrong said. “It would be great if the marriage could be settled soon.”
Meanwhile, the “well-matched” pair standing together were at loggerheads.
Miss Lin dropped her previous shyness, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow. “I have someone I like. She’s a female Alpha. Her family background isn’t good, so my parents don’t agree, but I won’t marry you either.”
Su Jiyu: “I thought as much. After all, Miss Lin didn’t even cover the hickey on her neck before coming out. It seems you have zero interest in me.”
Miss Lin instinctively covered her neck and coughed. “I heard you’re in an AA relationship with Meng Ze. Is that why your family is forcing you into blind dates?”
“Ah, something like that.” Su Jiyu was too lazy to explain. “Since neither of us wants to get married…”
“You reject me,” Miss Lin said. “If I reject him, my dad will break my legs.”
Su Jiyu: “I’ll be directly killed by my mother.”
“Holy crap, your mom is that ruthless?” Miss Lin was surprised, but quickly added, “But better you than me. You go say it. You’re an Alpha, after all.”
Su Jiyu: “If my words worked, you wouldn’t be seeing me here.”
Miss Lin hugged a pillar and banged her head against it. “Aargh! If my words worked, you wouldn’t be seeing me here either!”
“How on earth can we…”
Before she could finish, a commotion broke out inside the restaurant. The two rushed in to see a young man kneeling on the floor, clutching He Linrong’s leg and crying heart-wrenchingly: “Mom! Although I wasn’t born from your womb, in my heart, you are my real mother! I’ve never asked you for anything, but I truly love Miss Lin. How could you let my brother go on a blind date with her?!”
This short paragraph contained an explosive amount of information. The surrounding diners all looked over.
