Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Boss of the Disabled Heroine - Chapter 64
Pei Yujiang woke up feeling refreshed after a comfortable sleep and immediately reported last night’s events to the relationship expert.
The expert, who had likely stayed up late, responded much later in the day:
“Discussing work with her? Why would you think of that? I rarely encounter such an… unconventional approach.”
Pei had already prepared her reasoning and replied instantly:
“Because when I initially showed interest, she became somewhat distant. But later she warmed up again. I think she suspected I might have ulterior motives, so gradual progress is better.”
“Besides, she’s career-driven. Though an Omega, she’s never confined by traditional thinking that Omegas should focus on relationships. By proving I can engage with her professionally while fully supporting her career, doesn’t that demonstrate I’m an understanding Beta?”
Recalling Yu Zhiwan’s gentle attitude last night, Pei felt rather pleased with herself. Though Yu had quickly grown tired and excused herself, Pei believed her dedication had clearly made an impression.
The expert nearly choked on her water before typing:
“…Well, fine. So what’s your next step? Shouldn’t you arrange a proper date to create some romantic atmosphere?”
Initially thinking Pei operated within normal parameters, the expert now realized this woman’s thought processes were… unique. Having counseled countless clients, most showed at least basic competence in romance silver or gold level players who could reach diamond with guidance. But Pei? She was still taking baby steps in kindergarten, barely qualifying as scrap metal.
Progress required patience. Though frustrated, the expert knew harsh criticism wouldn’t help. She needed to gently steer Pei toward creating romantic opportunities otherwise no woman would ever reciprocate. The road ahead seemed long.
Sipping coffee in her office, Pei reviewed her schedule. Planning to return to Xiangcheng next week, she decided to complete this week in Yicheng. For the upcoming weekend, she intended to invite Yu out just casual meals and movies like they used to do as friends.
“But if you’ve already done those things as friends, what makes this time different?” The expert’s exasperation bled through her reply:
“Think outside the box! Try something novel maybe script murder games or trending activities. Make her feel this outing is special. Wouldn’t you find repetition boring?”
After consideration, Pei conceded the expert had a point.
As luck would have it, she wasn’t too busy at the moment, so she opened a webpage to slack off and found a script murder game venue with relatively high ratings.
Boss Ji now regarded Pei Yujiang as a toddler just learning to speak, needing step-by-step guidance in everything. Worried she might pick an overly intense reasoning script, Boss Ji quickly sent another message with earnest advice:
“You should choose one with good online ratings, suitable for couples on dates.”
Script murder games generally fall into several categories: reasoning, horror, comedy, and romance. Typically, romance scripts are ideal for two people in the ambiguous stages of a relationship getting paired as lovers can deepen their bond, and the dialogue often includes flirtatious friction.
Boss Ji recommended a few scripts and thoughtfully attached some spoiler-free role-selection guides found online, offering general tips on how to choose characters.
Following Boss Ji’s advice, Pei Yujiang selected a love story set against a modern suspense backdrop an exclusive, newly released script at this venue. After confirming Yu Zhiwan’s availability and getting her approval, Pei Yujiang booked their spots.
On the weekend, Pei Yujiang took the time to put on makeup before heading out.
Her makeup skills had improved to a decent level now. Following online tutorials, she applied light makeup for subtle enhancement.
Pei Yujiang had prepared thoroughly this time. She first asked if the venue had Braille scripts and, upon hearing they didn’t, paid extra to have the owner print one. With money no object, the owner happily obliged.
Since it was just the two of them, Pei Yujiang initially invited Zhao Manlin, but she was unavailable. Not wanting to bring her sister along on a date either, she ended up joining a group of strangers who, fortunately, seemed friendly.
This script required six players. Pei Yujiang drew the role of “Yingying,” while Yu Zhiwan was assigned “Luoyang.” The script was open-ended, with no fixed pairings, offering high flexibility and even including acting segments midway.
Pei Yujiang had done her homework. She’d heard that “Yingying” and “Luoyang” shared plenty of ambiguous moments in this script. Before starting, she even consulted a romance expert, who, after reviewing the guide, praised her choice:
“Not bad.”
Pei Yujiang: “Heh.”
As the Dungeon Master (DM) announced the start, everyone dutifully silenced their phones and tucked them away. Pei Yujiang and Yu Zhiwan sat close, nearly shoulder to shoulder. It was Pei Yujiang’s first time playing a script murder game, and the immersive experience of the venue felt refreshingly novel. The DM’s clear, gentle narration slowly drew her into the dreamlike world of decades past.
The story unfolded in Flower City sixty years ago. Yingying was a dancer, while Luoyang was a young mistress disguised as a man to “patronize” her business. They first crossed paths in the red-light district, exchanging little at first until Luoyang’s brother went missing, and her suspicions turned toward Yingying.
Yingying was one of the few who had seen her brother on the night of the incident. It was said that her brother had gone alone to Yingying’s room for a rendezvous, only to disappear without a trace afterward. But beneath the surface of the brothel, undercurrents were swirling, with warlords carving out their territories across the land. While Flower City appeared to be a rare haven amidst the chaos of war, it had long become a chessboard for multiple factions vying for power.
Luo Yang received intelligence that Yingying was affiliated with the Changping Army. Outwardly appearing delicate and defenseless, she was actually a covert intelligence operative hiding in plain sight. Luo Yang’s family and the Changping Army were sworn enemies, and her brother’s visit to Yingying’s room wasn’t driven by lust but by the need to uncover the truth.
Yet, what secrets lay hidden in Yingying’s room? Why would someone who entered the top courtesan’s chamber never return? The brothel couldn’t provide a plausible explanation, leaving everyone baffled.
After a round of debate and confrontation, Pei Yujiang lost and was escorted by the DM to a small, dark confinement room. During the free discussion period, Yu Zhiwan consulted with the others before deciding to have a private conversation with Yingying.
This murder mystery venue prided itself on delivering an immersive, realistic experience. Pei Yujiang was genuinely locked in a pitch-black room, and with her consent, even had her hands and feet bound.
When Yu Zhiwan entered, she was met with the sight of the woman kneeling on the ground, her hands tied and hoisted high above her.
Pei Yujiang’s slender figure was accentuated by the light spring clothing she wore. After entering the venue, she had casually shed her cumbersome trench coat, leaving only a pristine white blouse that faintly outlined her curves in the darkness.
Yu Zhiwan approached her step by step.
In the cramped, dimly lit space, the faint scent of white tea emanating from the woman was just discernible. Her silhouette knelt, yet her posture remained upright, her back straight.
Pei Yujiang’s dark tresses cascaded down, strands clinging to her face, stirred by Yu Zhiwan’s approaching breath, sending a tickling warmth across her slender neck.
Pei Yujiang shifted uncomfortably, shrinking back slightly.
She had never experienced such sensations before from novelty to tension, then to a tinge of awkwardness. As the Omega drew nearer, even in the confined space, she could detect the faint, sweet fragrance of pheromones.
Yu Zhiwan edged closer. Seated in her wheelchair, she was slightly taller than the kneeling but upright Pei Yujiang. Their usual height dynamic reversed, requiring Yu Zhiwan to bend slightly to meet Pei Yujiang’s gaze at eye level.
Naturally, from Pei Yujiang’s perspective, Yu Zhiwan, being blind, couldn’t see her current disheveled yet alluring state.
Their proximity allowed their breaths to intertwine, heightening the intimacy in the shadowy room. Yu Zhiwan steadied herself on the wheelchair, her tone measured and unhurried, as if fully immersed in her role:
“Did you hide my brother?”
She leaned in further but accidentally stepped on the “rope” binding Pei Yujiang. To prevent injury, the hemp rope in the script had been replaced with soft ribbons, which only accentuated the bound woman’s pitiful yet undeniably sensual appearance.
Yu Zhiwan’s throat felt dry. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly as she nonchalantly brushed aside the ribbon that had tangled around her:
“This rope is so bothersome.”
Pei Yujiang couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time:
“Then why not untie me while you’re at it?”
Though she didn’t feel any pain, being tied up with ribbons was rather inconvenient. Pei Yujiang twisted her body slightly and leaned forward, pressing close to Yu Zhiwan so the blind woman could clearly sense her position in the darkness.
She whispered:
“Help me untie this.”
To her surprise, Yu Zhiwan refused with righteous indignation.
“You’re my enemy. I can’t help you.”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Yu Zhiwan’s tone suddenly turned vicious in the dark, as if to humiliate her:
“But since the top courtesan of the Fireworks Gate is so skilled at seducing men, who knows? Maybe if you try your charms on me, I might be in a good enough mood to loosen these for you?”
Pei Yujiang: “?”
When was this added to the script?
