- Transmigrated As A Beautiful Cannon Fodder Omega To Marry An Evil God Alpha In Place of Another
- Chapter 22 - Begging for a Mark
“You’re an Alpha?”
Captain Jayne looked incredulous. “How is that possible? If you’re an Alpha, then those lovers you had before…”
He stopped mid-sentence, his expression shifting as if something felt wrong, he recoiled slightly.
Bai Rui looked at him with pity, his eyes lowered as if looking at an ant. “That makes things even simpler.”
“I am not Batella.”
In the ABO world, especially in the Western regions, it wasn’t uncommon for women to have broad shoulders and narrow waists. Because secondary gender characteristics sometimes overrode primary ones, no one had doubted it initially.
That was until Bai Rui gently removed his hat and took off the lace cravat. A prominent Adam’s apple appeared on his ivory neck.
The sailors on deck were startled, backing away a few steps. Some even drew their cutlasses from their sheaths with a sharp shing.
However, the One Eyed Pirate standing behind Captain Jayne, acting as the First Mate, quietly raised a hand to stop the pirates from surrounding them. He turned his head, his sinister gaze chilling as he signaled the crew to retreat.
Those Annamese pirates, with their dark, weathered skin and bulging fish like eyes, were now glancing around shiftily. Soon, the sailors retreated further, making no move to attack.
Captain Jayne suddenly sensed something was amiss. He whipped around, locking eyes with the First Mate’s venomous glare.
“It’s you?!” Jayne barked. “You teamed up with this little wench to take me down?”
“Ha~”
A contemptuous, playful laugh drifted out from under a black cloak.
A-wu’s previously hunched body gradually straightened. His bones readjusted to his true height with a series of distinct, crisp cracks. Standing at nearly 1.9 meters, A-wu forced all the short Annamese pirates to tilt their heads back to look at him.
It was a height and physique they envied, broad shoulders and a long frame. Even under the cloak, his excellent head to shoulder ratio was evident.
“Listen closely. Watch your mouth. My baby is not some ‘little wench’ you speak of.”
His voice had returned to its usual state, a magnetic baritone with a hint of vocal fry, sounding incredibly alluring and grounded.
Baby…
Bai Rui’s lowered eyelashes fluttered slightly. He inconspicuously cracked his knuckles.
“You…” Captain Jayne clutched his stomach, his expression twisting in pain, though he gritted his teeth and endured it. “Damn it, you’re not an old servant woman either.”
“Wait, if he isn’t Batella, you aren’t his servant. Who the hell are you?”
A-wu stretched his neck slightly, his joints popping. His voice remained low, magnetic, and utterly nonchalant. “Too stupid. Of course, I am his servant.”
For a moment, Bai Rui felt like Captain Jayne’s “CPU” had fried.
Jayne indeed looked miserable, clearly struggling not just with his thoughts but with physical discomfort. “Damn it! And you? I gave you food and clothes, and you betray me too?”
Jayne was glaring at his First Mate. That ferocious gaze was enough to make anyone shudder.
But the One Eyed Pirate didn’t flinch this time. He dropped his usual fawning act and stared at Jayne as if looking at a corpse. “You killed my twin brother. I wish nothing more than for you to join him at the bottom of the sea. All because he spilled some tea… You should have repented, but you didn’t. So, you must pay with your life.”
“Hahahaha”
A hideous, grotesque laugh erupted. Captain Jayne’s ugly features twisted further as his laughter echoed through the cabin.
After laughing for a while, he straightened up. “Damn it all! Who do you think you are? Can you even kill me?”
“Do you see the hardness of my skin? I’m immune to magic attacks. Do you understand what that means?”
“Unless the Witch Emperor himself comes, no one can touch me!”
The Witch Emperor himself was currently standing calmly to the side, hands tucked into his sleeves. Bai Rui also looked at the delirious Captain Jayne with a sense of helplessness.
“Can you? Or that one eyed thing? I ate the food you made, so what? I’m still standing! How are you going to kill me? Come on, try it!”
He barked and hissed like a madman, his face turning increasingly livid. After a moment of shouting, he seemed to realize something was wrong and sat down, clutching his stomach.
“I won’t die. Don’t waste your time.”
Bai Rui, holding the brim of his hat against his chest, took a step forward. “Everyone dies. Every single person. You are no exception.”
“Then I’ll make sure you go first.”
Bai Rui smiled faintly. “Fine.”
This time, it was Captain Jayne who froze. He stared at Bai Rui. “What do you mean?”
Bai Rui gripped his hat, his mind racing through possibilities, but his smile remained natural. “We can see who dies first.”
“How did you do it? I searched you…” Jayne clutched his belly. “If I’d known, I would have enjoyed you first…”
Suddenly, he opened his mouth and laughed, a terrifying, distorted grin that stretched strands of saliva between his lips. The saliva was tinged red, fresh blood began to leak from the corners of his mouth. “Damn… I’ve been plundering the seas for so long, escaped death so many times, only to fall at the hands of a pretty boy like you. No matter. We can all be destroyed together.”
With that, Jayne stomped his foot hard on the floorboards.
The ship was strange, the moment he stomped, a square gap opened beneath Bai Rui’s feet. He plunged downward instantly. His vision blurred as if a camera lens had suddenly dropped.
As the light from above faded into darkness, Bai Rui felt a moment of weightlessness before a large hand gripped his arm. The fall was halted abruptly, the sudden jerk making his arm feel like it was being wrenched from its socket.
Bai Rui dangled in the air. Amidst the sharp pain, he caught a scent of cold fragrance. It was a pleasant smell, one that triggered a tingle at the back of his neck.
In this utterly inappropriate moment, his body, which had felt off the whole trip, suddenly began to rise in temperature. In a crisis like this, shouldn’t his hands and feet be cold? Why did that scent make his neck tingle and his whole body flush with heat?
Bai Rui swallowed with great difficulty. His vision felt sluggish as he slowly looked up, finally focusing on his wrist. A large hand was clamped around it, the fingers were well-proportioned and elegant, but now, due to the strain, veins bulged beneath the pale, thin skin of the wrist and back of the hand.
The tattered sleeve of a cloak swayed at the edge of the square opening. That cold fragrance seemed to emanate from the silky, lustrous hair falling from beneath the hood. Or perhaps it was from somewhere else. Bai Rui’s mind was foggy, his body burning too hot to think.
He only knew it was A-wu who had caught him.
“A-wu…”
Bai Rui looked up, his long black hair dishevelled. His hat was long gone. A-wu’s face was obscured by shadows, but he gave a soft chuckle. “Watch your step, Your Highness.”
He didn’t sound out of breath or strained at all.
Bai Rui took a deep breath. “A-wu, pull me up.” He was extremely uncomfortable. He had prepared for many things on this rotting pirate ship, but he hadn’t expected the floor to give way. The priority was getting back up.
“As you wish, my master.”
A-wu’s voice was melodic, light and airy, contrasting with the immense strength in his hand. He seemed to relish being Bai Rui’s “servant,” calling him “master” at every turn as if it brought him some secret joy.
As Bai Rui was being pulled up, he suddenly felt a chill on his ankle. He looked down. A long, grey-blue tongue was crawling over his foot, trying to wrap around his ankle. It was just a tongue, severed, with no mouth attached. Saliva dripped from it with a sickening, squelching sound.
Bai Rui’s empty stomach churned. He felt as if a thousand tiny needles were pricking his skin, his skin crawled in literal terror.
“Hahahaha…”
Captain Jayne’s voice rang out from the direction of his foot. “Didn’t expect that, did you? I tore out my own tongue before I died.”
“Pretty boy, stop pretending! You’re an Omega! I could smell it from up here!”
“Now, let me have a taste of you! Hahaha!”
The tongue was revolting, moving like a slimy mollusk as it slithered up Bai Rui’s leg. Forgetting he was suspended in mid-air, Bai Rui began to kick wildly, desperate to shake off the disgusting thing.
The result was that A-wu, under the force of the struggle, lost his footing and was dragged down with him.
Darkness reclaimed their vision. The light from above shrank rapidly. In the dark, Bai Rui felt a firm embrace wrap around him as they spiraled downward. That cold fragrance filled his lungs, further stoking the fire in his heart.
The fall was fast, but to Bai Rui, with his heart racing, time seemed to slow down infinitely. A-wu’s long hair brushed against his cheek, the silky texture feeling cool like jade.
CRASH.
A deafening boom echoed. Dust billowed everywhere.
They had landed in a hidden cargo hold. The impact of the fall had shattered the wooden crates beneath them. As the dust settled, Bai Rui coughed, his eyes gradually adjusting to the gloom.
It was then he noticed his sleeves were torn and he had several scratches. But despite the height, he wasn’t seriously injured and he soon realized why.
A-wu’s hood had fallen back. His jet-black hair spilled over his shoulders and pale, bloodless face. His eyes were closed. Several wooden splinters from the shattered crates were embedded in his flesh.
Beyond the wreckage, some liquid had shattered on the floor. Aside from the broken glass, the air was thick with a pungent, suffocating perfume.
“Do you know what that is?”
The tongue was writhing somewhere in the shadows.
“That was intended for smuggling to the Plain of Winds to be sold at a high price to those debauched royals. Guess who my biggest client is? Count Laplace is one, but there’s another… Since you’re going to die here anyway, I might as well tell you. The other is the Queen. She and the Count ordered a massive amount of aphrodisiacs, the dual-matching kind. That means it’s meant for two people to use together. Do you understand? This is a treasure worth a thousand gold pieces!”
As expected, that overwhelming floral scent was nothing good. But it was too late; Bai Rui had already inhaled quite a bit.
His body temperature soared to an incredible degree. The cabin felt unbearably hot. Any fabric touching his skin felt like a barrier trapping the heat. Bai Rui gritted his teeth, enduring a strange, painful numbness as sweat broke out on his brow.
The intoxicating scent of Omega pheromones floated through the decaying ship. While not yet dense, it was enough to stir the desires of any Alpha.
“Hahaha…” the cruel laughter continued. “This is a super catalyst that costs a fortune per milliliter on the black market. Consider it a gift for you two before you die.”
A-wu stirred and opened his eyes. He looked at Bai Rui without a word, but his eyes were as deep as an abyss. He watched Bai Rui, surrounded by visible red particles, intense, S-class pheromones that Bai Rui couldn’t identify.
Bai Rui only felt the heat intensify.
“Be defiled by your own slave before you die! Hahahaha!”
Accompanied by that malicious laughter, Bai Rui finally let out a muffled moan. He yanked at his collar, exposing his white shoulders. Finally, with trembling fingers slick with sweat, he grabbed A-wu’s lapels and pulled the man close to his face. His eyes were misty, on the verge of tears, the corners flushed a beautiful, agonizing red.
“Help me…”
“The clothes are too heavy… I can’t… get them off myself…”
