- Transmigrated As A Beautiful Cannon Fodder Omega To Marry An Evil God Alpha In Place of Another
- Chapter 13 - A Mysterious Play
The women’s garment was cinch waisted with a square neckline, revealing a delicate, pale neck and exquisite collarbones. The peacock-blue velvet would leave a mark whenever a hand brushed against the grain. As the layers were put on, several distinct finger marks appeared at the waist, the imprint of a large hand. One could tell the hand possessed long, well-defined fingers, seemingly capable of grasping half of that slender waist with a single palm.
Finally, Bai Rui had mostly finished dressing in the female attire. His skin, as fine and white as jade, emitted a faint luster under the cold moonlight.
With reddened ears, he turned his head. Shadowed patterns from the tree branches splashed across his cheeks and the front of his white neck.
The night sky of the Dark Forest was originally eerie and sinister, yet the moonlight shining upon him seemed exceptionally soft and clear.
He paused.
“Let’s not tie the corset, shall we?”
Bai Rui looked back at the person behind him. The corners of his eyes were tinged with a watery red, making his gaze seem to ripple, he appeared somewhat breathless from the constriction.
the boning on both sides of the bodice was pulled tight to create elegant feminine curves. His waist was already thin to begin with, and now, cinched by the corset, it looked even narrower. While the waist was actually a bit loose for Bai Rui, the pressure on his ribs was suffocating.
“Your Highness, do you not like it this tight?”
A-Wu’s hand remained on Bai Rui’s lower back, his long fingers pinching the thin laces.
Bai Rui took a deep breath, profoundly realizing how difficult it must have been for Western women of the past to dress.
“I don’t like it. Loosen it a bit.”
“As you wish.”
The voice behind him was submissive, yet its magnetic timbre held a trace of cryptic enchantment within the dark, heavy forest.
“Your Highness, if you dislike it so much, do you still wish to wear it?”
Bai Rui took a few deep breaths to adjust. He turned his head, revealing his profile: “I’ll wear it. Just loosen the top.”
“Very well.”
This time, the compliant reply carried a faint, teasing lilt.
“Can it be tight here, then?”
“That’s fine, mgh… be gentle!”
“My apologies for hurting you. I will be lighter; please relax.”
Bai Rui had no idea how terrible these snippets of conversation would sound if heard out of context. He simply regulated his breathing and stared straight ahead, trying his best to ignore that breathy, shallow chuckle.
At that moment, the “audience” who couldn’t see the images but heard everything through the crystal ball, which was covered by a purple velvet cloth, had their mouths hanging open in an “O” shape.
“So fast??”
“My god, this is the wilderness! Is it really this wild???”
The two fellows didn’t even care about their dried fish snacks anymore, their ears were pressed against the velvet, wishing they could crawl inside to listen.
Bai Rui leaned one hand against a tree trunk while the other clutched his chest, feeling an immense headache over this torture like dressing process.
The wretched clothes made his eyes turn slightly red, and tears dampened his long lashes. It seemed that since arriving here, this “about to be bullied into tears” look surfaced constantly, was it because he was now an Omega with a damaged gland?
Or… was it because of the tall man standing behind him?
Bai Rui turned his head and saw A-Wu looking down, busy on his behalf. Those long hands were battling numerous tedious dressing procedures and small details. He even produced a pin from the garment to fix the wide waistband to another piece of fabric.
Only then was it truly finished. In that moment, he finally took a relaxed breath and turned to look at A-Wu, who was putting on his cloak.
There wasn’t much to “wearing” a cloak, but as Bai Rui’s gaze swept over, it reflected a tall man with cold, white skin on his upper body. Having removed his wet shirt and hunched his shoulders, the moonlight illuminated the firm, beautiful musculature of his back, not bulky, but sharply defined.
With his long lashes lowered, his features appeared even more three dimensional, a high bridge of the nose and deep set eyes. He was very pleasant to look at.
Are all mermen this handsome?
Bai Rui thought this, but before he could withdraw his gaze, he locked eyes with A-Wu, who had just pulled his hood over his head and straightened up.
A-Wu’s narrow, sharp eyes suddenly collided with Bai Rui’s eyes, which were stained with watery red. In that moment of visual impact, Bai Rui’s breathing involuntarily quickened.
Because the clothes already restricted his breath, this sudden tension made his eyes appear misty. Amidst the swirling haze of moisture, the red at the corners of his eyes looked particularly vivid and alluring.
“Are we done? Does it really need to take this long?”
Bai Rui pointedly looked away and adopted a stern tone, intentionally blaming him for taking too long to dress.
“We need to get to the Gambler’s Town next. We can’t afford to waste too much time. Stop dawdling.”
In the darkness, the thin lips of the man behind him curled slightly.
“Very well, I am finished then,” A-Wu’s magnetic voice rang out in a consultative tone.
“Mm.”
Bai Rui gave only a faint, shallow hum in response and turned away, no longer looking at him.
Little did they know that back in the Ice Badger Castle, in front of the crystal ball… certain “people” were going crazy.
“Huh???”
The Black Cat: “It ended that quickly?”
The Black Dragon: “Ah… it shouldn’t be. The ‘magic wand’ looked very powerful. Could it be…”
The two shared a look, both seeing the same thought in each other’s eyes: The Evil God Qi Li might be… impotent.
This was a massive secret!
In the forest, the moonlight was bright.
Bai Rui and A-Wu walked one after the other along the shaded path. They followed the river, judging their direction by the moon as they went.
Since Bai Rui had crossed over, his hair had grown a bit long. It was of good quality, so he tied it into a small tuft at the back of his head, with the longer strands draping over his nape, giving him a bit of a “wolf cut” look. It also provided a sense of security, as if shielding his posterior neck gland.
The small tuft was hidden by the lace of his wide brimmed hat, and his small, fair face was mostly obscured. He already had somewhat androgynous features, now, enhanced by the outfit, no one would doubt his “gender.”
A-Wu gazed at his masterpiece, his lips curling up unconsciously. This little “swapped” fiancée who had been sent to him was truly beautiful. An Eastern appearance, so slender, gentle, and moving.
Bai Rui turned around and looked at A-Wu, whose cloak was a bit short for him, and found that A-Wu was also staring at him.
Currently, the tall man’s forearms and ankles were exposed, but the tattered state of the cloak with its frayed sleeves and hem, actually suited the setting. If he hunched his back and pulled the hood down to cover his face, one might not realize he was such a tall man.
“What are you looking at? Hide your face.”
Without a word, A-Wu pulled down his hood, concealing himself thoroughly. Only his large-boned joints were visible, revealing he was a tall man with a fairly good physique.
“Your Highness, why are you going to the Gambler’s Town?”
Bai Rui continued walking calmly: “Because it’s near my fief.”
“The dowry the Emperor gave me… the flesh I bit off from those who plotted against me… I’m already rich enough to start a rebellion.”
Under the hood of the cloak, the tall man arched an eyebrow. Only the sharp line of his chin was visible as his thin lips uncontrollably curved into an arc.
“Then, Your Highness, going from here to the Gambler’s Town will take about a month because we have to bypass the sea. Since the Gambler’s Town is at the junction of the Wind Plain Continent and the Dark Moon Lands, that doting, senile old man of the Holy Light Empire…”
Bai Rui smiled faintly: “You’re not wrong. Continue.”
A-Wu said: “I am a person of moderate and respectful character. I shall describe him calmly and politely.”
“The old thing is arrogant, lustful, cruel, ungrateful, petty, and bloated. He arrogantly incited war but was powerless to resist it. He sent a Second Prince even stupider than himself to lead the campaign personally. You know the result, if he hadn’t run fast, his legs would have been snapped by the Wizard soldiers.”
How could he not know? Otherwise, why would he be here for a political marriage?
Still, he had to admit, the evaluation was satisfying to hear.
Bai Rui: “You’re off topic. Back to the Gambler’s Town.”
“My apologies, Your Highness.”
Though he apologized, there was clearly a lack of sincerity in his voice.
“Originally, the Gambler’s Town was under the rule of the Holy Light Empire. Unfortunately, the Empire has long lost its former glory. The entire country is lifeless and decaying, just like that old King. Therefore, the management of the Gambler’s Town is extremely lax to be frank, it’s chaotic. It’s said that within three months, five sheriffs have already died.”
Bai Rui tilted his chin slightly. The black mesh veil on his face fractured the moonlight into tiny diamond-shaped shadows against his pale cheeks.
“While I did overlook the need to bypass the sea, this Gambler’s Town really is a good place.”
“We just need to find a way to get there as quickly as possible.”
Stay low, survive first. If I follow the original plot, I’ll die very soon. To break the stalemate, he had to jump out of the established rules.
After two seconds of silence, the beautiful thin lips beneath the hood widened their smile.
“Indeed. If only there were a boat.”
The two were by the river. By the moonlight, they could see several dark shadows swaying on the distant surface of the dark river.
The moonlight was hazy, making it hard to see clearly. Bai Rui looked up: “What is that?”
“Oh… those,” A-Wu’s voice rose. “Those are pirates roaming between the Dark Moon Lands and the Wind Plains. When there are few ships at sea, they send small boats down to search for opportunities, specializing in robbery.”
The small boats were like shuttles, in the blink of an eye, the distance closed significantly. Given their speed, they were clearly heading for them.
“Your Highness, there’s still time to run,” A-Wu reminded. “These are the infamous, evil pirates. The leader and crew are hybrids of wild humans and Wizard demons. Their skin is hardened and impervious to blades, they are aggressive and impossible to eradicate. Both the Dark Moon Lands and the Wind Plains pale at the mention of them. Your Highness, are you really not going to run?”
Bai Rui remained silent, watching the rapidly approaching dark shadows. The shadows broke through the water with a sound like a flurry of arrows. Within a few moments, they were practically in front of them.
Finally, Bai Rui’s lips moved: “Their boats… are fast, right?”
A-Wu: “Very fast.”
“Fast and free.” Bai Rui’s lips curled. “It’s a bargain worth the risk.”
In the blink of any eye, several scimitars were already held against the necks of Bai Rui and A-Wu. The cold, flashing blades stimulated the thin skin of their necks.
The leader jumped off the boat and walked over last. He waded through the water, his legs creating a splashing sound.
“An unexpected harvest! I didn’t expect to pick up two fat sheep here.”
As the leader drew closer, he revealed a distorted and strange face. He grinned, showing a mouth full of teeth that had been painted pitch black. Like his poor pronunciation, his attire and his short, stubby stature identified him as an Annamese pirate.
The men holding the scimitars spat out several sentences of gibberish, random code that couldn’t be pieced into meaning but every one of them grinned ferociously, revealing their blackened teeth.
“Ah, don’t take me!” A-Wu cried out a beat late. He hunched his shoulders, his voice intentionally high and thin: “I’m just an expendable slave…”
The audience could only hear the voices, but their eyes had already flattened into two straight lines: Heh, he’s certainly enjoying his acting…
Suddenly, Bai Rui grabbed A-Wu’s wrist, gripping it tightly. Although his fingers were slender and white, he had some strength from his frequent outdoor sketching and elective sculpture classes.
Panic and grievance suddenly washed over his pale little face: “Mama, are you going to leave me and run for your life?”
The Emperor: “???”
The audience in front of the crystal ball: “??? What kind of mysterious roleplay is this?”
