- Training the Villain to Become a Big Sister Obsessed
- Chapter 5 - "Senior Sister, Do You Dislike Me?"
Lan Shan Jun walked toward Cloud-Treading Residence, holding the chain blade in one hand and the sword in the other. The palm-sized chain blade spun intricate patterns between her fair, slender fingers.
“What should I call you?”
“Look who we have here! The ‘Eldest Miss of Yanggu’ is actually coming out of the Treasure Storage Hall! Did I see correctly? Is that a sword in your hand? Oh my, is the Eldest Miss finally going to practice the sword? Can those delicate, tender hands even swing it?”
The mocking words completely shattered Lan Shan Jun’s good mood.
She looked up, wishing she hadn’t. Facing her was a young man wearing a sword, his ceremonial robes trimmed with gold and silver thread, his head adorned with a jade crown, and his waist cinched with a snake-patterned belt. Even the sword in his hand was inlaid with jade stones and beast fangs, practically screaming how wealthy he was.
Within the Four Seas, besides a few Immortal Sects, there were several wealthy and powerful Immortal Families, led by the Liu, Feng, and Jin families, whose influence was not inferior to that of some major Immortals.
The youth before her was Liu Yu’an, the Second Young Master of the Liu family’s younger generation. He possessed the Innate Single Spiritual Root. Given his lineage and aptitude, he was a prime candidate for focused cultivation in any Immortal Sect. However, he didn’t join any of the many Immortal Sects in the Four Seas. Instead, he specifically came to Yanggu to ascend under the first rays of sunlight and even requested to take Dong Jun as his Master.
Many cultivators had come seeking mentorship over the years. The Valley Master, seeing their tenacious spirits as malleable talent, had accepted them all. Only this Second Young Master Liu had not entered the Valley based on his own merit. The Valley Master initially intended to persuade him to return, but Liu Yu’an carried a personal letter from the Liu Family Head, who held some debt of gratitude toward the Valley Master. Thus, the Valley Master made an exception and allowed him to cultivate in the Valley, though he was never granted the title of a Yanggu disciple.
Liu Yu’an looked down on the low-level robes bearing only sun embroidery. Similarly, he disdained Lan Shan Jun, Dong Jun’s disciple, who was so fragile she couldn’t even hold a sword. Dong Jun’s swordsmanship was the best in the Four Seas, yet her disciple couldn’t grasp the art. Liu Yu’an self-importantly believed he should have been Dong Jun’s first disciple. After his repeated requests to become her disciple were rejected, he developed resentment. Naturally, he held no ill will toward Dong Jun, so he projected all his dissatisfaction onto Lan Shan Jun. Whenever they met, Liu Yu’an never failed to offer a few barbed words.
“You still don’t know, do you?” Lan Shan Jun smiled slightly; she knew exactly where this person’s sore spot was. She waved the Crane’s Bite in front of Liu Yu’an and spoke slowly: “Oh dear, I wonder if my little Junior Sister will like this sword. I hope Master Dong Jun doesn’t find it inconvenient when she personally teaches her swordsmanship.”
The name “Dong Jun” instantly provoked Liu Yu’an’s nerves. Indignant anger was already visible on his face. “What do you mean by that?”
Lan Shan Jun offered a polite smile. She knew he understood.
“Dong Jun has taken another disciple!? And she’s going to personally teach her swordsmanship!” Liu Yu’an’s chest heaved violently. The words he had used to comfort himself most over the years were that although Dong Jun took Lan Shan Jun as a disciple, she didn’t actually discipline her, making Lan Shan Jun’s status as a disciple effectively nonexistent. But now, being told that Dong Jun had taken a new disciple and would teach her personally—how could he possibly remain calm?
Seeing the person before her about to explode in anger, Lan Shan Jun’s mood immediately brightened.
The Book Spirit spoke dimly: “Aren’t you actually causing trouble for Cang Wu by acting this way? In the original book, Cang Wu was also loosely raised, so Liu Yu’an mostly troubled you. Now, by telling him all this, you are diverting all the hatred onto Cang Wu alone.”
Lan Shan Jun: “……”
The Book Spirit continued: “If I didn’t know you intended to change Cang Wu, I would think you were meticulously designing and cultivating her into a villain.”
Lan Shan Jun: “……”
“Where is she?” Liu Yu’an ground his teeth.
Lan Shan Jun was just about to say she didn’t know when a flash of azure caught her eye—a small, faint blue shadow.
“Senior Sister!”
The sound arrived before the person. Liu Yu’an turned his head and, almost the moment he saw Cang Wu, confirmed she was Dong Jun’s new disciple. The sword in his hand suddenly unsheathed.
“Let me see what qualifications she has to become Dong Jun’s disciple.”
A wave of intense heat instantly spread out. The tip of the sword lifted a fire serpent, its mouth wide open, fangs bared. A massive illusion enveloped the small, thin figure. Liu Yu’an’s strike was clearly a killing blow!
Lan Shan Jun’s pupils contracted sharply. She swiftly flung the chain blade in her hand; the chain blade pursued Liu Yu’an’s retreating back: “Cang Wu! Dodge quickly!”
Before her last word faded, someone crashed down first. The expensive treasured sword shattered into pieces. Liu Yu’an lay on the ground, spitting blood, a streak of azure reflected in his rapidly dimming pupils. As the blue figure approached, Liu Yu’an completely stopped breathing, without even the chance to regret his action.
The chain blade returned to its master’s hand. Lan Shan Jun stood frozen. She hadn’t expected Cang Wu to kill someone on her first move.
This wasn’t the first time Lan Shan Jun had seen someone die, but it was the first time she had watched someone die so close before her—and the killer was the villain who might one day raise her hand to kill her.
“Senior Sister.”
The sweet, soft voice sounded near her ear. Lan Shan Jun saw Cang Wu reaching out to her and instinctively backed away to avoid contact.
“Lan Shan, what happened?”
Xie Qing Shuang walked over from the side. Upon seeing Liu Yu’an’s corpse, her brow furrowed, and she asked with confusion and surprise, “Who did this?”
The question was directed at Lan Shan Jun, but her eyes were fixed tightly on Cang Wu.
“Was it you? Cang Wu.”
Cang Wu pressed her lips together and offered no explanation. Rumors had long spread that Liu Yu’an would be the next Liu Family Head. His death in Yanggu was not a small matter.
Xie Qing Shuang took the two of them and Liu Yu’an’s body to Yunyang Peak and sent a message to notify the Valley Master and Dong Jun. When the group arrived at Yunyang Peak, the Valley Master and Dong Jun were already present, sitting at the head seats. Two other people were seated to their right.
The woman sitting closest to Valley Master Xie You had a smile playing on her lips, her eyes narrow, carrying a chilling coldness when she looked at people, like a viper flicking its tongue. Her ceremonial robe was a mixture of black and red, and her belt was not straight but coiled around her waist like a twisting, long snake. If one got close, one would realize it was a real Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake. This person was Liu Ban Xin, the current Liu Family Head.
Sitting next to Liu Ban Xin was an exceptionally young woman whose ceremonial robe resembled Liu Ban Xin’s, suggesting she was also from the Liu family. The atmosphere in the hall was not good when Xie Qing Shuang brought them in. Xie You wore a cold face; Dong Jun remained calm; the Liu Family Head deliberately cast glances at Xie You, and the colder Xie You’s expression became, the more unrestrained the woman’s smile grew.
“Valley Master, Dong Jun,” Xie Qing Shuang saluted the two high-ranking individuals before stepping aside. Lan Shan Jun followed suit with her salute, while Cang Wu remained motionless beside her.
The two Yanggu disciples carried Liu Yu’an’s corpse inside. Liu Ban Xin glanced over lightly, then propped her chin with her hand and smiled at Xie You. “Valley Master Xie, the Second Young Master of the Liu family died in your Yanggu. Do you owe me an explanation for this matter?”
Xie You’s gaze shifted to Dong Jun’s face, her expression subtly changing. An explanation?
Dong Jun nodded, smoothed her sleeves, and rose. She lowered her eyes to look at her two disciples and asked, “Who killed the person?”
Cang Wu: “I did.”
Dong Jun: “Why did you kill him?”
Cang Wu: “He wanted to kill me.”
Dong Jun curved the corner of her lips and stated directly to Liu Ban Xin, “Here is the explanation you requested.” Dong Jun’s words clearly showed she intended to protect Cang Wu, offering the Liu family no pleasantries.
Liu Ban Xin casually shifted her gaze to Cang Wu, looking at her for a long time before asking, “Has she officially become your disciple yet?”
“Does whether or not she’s officially a disciple matter? Or does the Liu Family Head wish to pick on the weak?” Xie You snorted coldly. “Regarding today’s incident, I fear the Liu Family Head also owes me an explanation! We took him in out of past sentiment, but setting aside Liu Yu’an’s usual incompetence and foul mouth, today he dared to commit murder within Yanggu! Your Liu family members are too presumptuous!”
Xie You sent out a palm strike, and a water mirror appeared before everyone, reflecting the sword Liu Yu’an had struck toward Cang Wu—it was a lethal move.
“Past sentiment,” Liu Ban Xin muttered Xie You’s words and actually laughed. She glanced at Liu Yu’an’s corpse. The Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake coiled around her waist suddenly moved, climbing up along the woman’s wide robe until its head poked out near her collar, flicking out its long tongue.
“Hiss—hiss—” Lan Shan Jun shuddered and subtly moved aside. This movement bumped Cang Wu. Cang Wu, who hadn’t looked up since entering the hall, slowly lifted her eyelids. She sensed Lan Shan Jun’s fear—because of that snake. Cang Wu glanced toward the Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake. The snake, which had been full of malice just moments before, suddenly had blood rush to its eyes and fell directly off Liu Ban Xin’s body.
The Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake is fierce and highly venomous, living in groups, mostly in cold, damp areas. Only the Dui Realm in the Four Seas can breed this type of snake, and the Liu family is in the Kan Realm, using the Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake as their family crest. The one on Liu Ban Xin had been with her for decades.
Even though the creature that had accompanied her for decades died before her eyes, Liu Ban Xin’s expression showed no fluctuation. She simply raised an eyebrow, lifted a finger, and the Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake vanished into mist without even leaving a corpse. Then, she remotely drew a glowing object from Liu Yu’an’s brow—it was Liu Yu’an’s Nascent Soul.
Xie You’s brow jumped, as if she guessed what she was about to do. “Wait—” It was too late.
Her five fingers closed into a fist, and Liu Yu’an’s Nascent Soul shattered. If a cultivator’s Nascent Soul had not dissipated, there was still a glimmer of hope. Excluding vile methods like seizing a body, some Immortal Sects and Families had the ability to reshape bodies for their disciples. Not to mention Liu Yu’an might have been the next Liu Family Head; given his Innate Single Spiritual Root aptitude alone, the Liu family would fight to save his life. But Liu Ban Xin had directly shattered his Nascent Soul.
Liu Ban Xin took out a clean cloth to wipe her hands and smiled at Xie You. “Valley Master Xie, is this explanation satisfactory?”
Xie You’s face grew darker. “You are still as cold-blooded as before.”
Mentioning the past caused Liu Ban Xin’s expression to shift for a fleeting moment. The air became stagnant. Dong Jun, seeing that the matter was resolved, led her two disciples away first. The remaining personal grievances were best left to the Valley Master to handle.
After Dong Jun led the group away, Xie You asked, “Liu Yu’an’s aptitude was quite good. You shattered his Nascent Soul just like that. How will you explain this to the Liu family?”
A fleeting softness appeared in Liu Ban Xin’s eyes, then vanished instantly. She smiled charmingly at Xie You. “Are you worried about my standing when I return, or are you worried that the Liu family will attack Yanggu because of this?”
Xie You frowned. “What I’m worried about is your version of the story; do not implicate Yanggu.”
The smile on Liu Ban Xin’s face froze for a moment, then she shook her head. “Stubborn as ever.”
“Rest assured, I will say that Liu Yu’an provoked a Sea Demon out of arrogance, and by the time I arrived, his soul was already annihilated.” Liu Ban Xin produced a small Black-Bellied Crimson Gold Snake from somewhere, a tiny one coiling around her wrist. “Liu Yu’an was always arrogant; a death like this is reasonable for someone like him.”
Liu Ban Xin’s indifference toward Liu Yu’an made Xie You puzzled. “But I heard he was the next…”
Liu Ban Xin cut her off with a cold snort. “The next Family Head? He is not worthy. As long as I am in the Liu family, the Liu Family Head will always be a daughter of the Liu family.” Saying this, she gestured to the younger woman sitting beside her.
The woman nodded, rose, and performed a junior’s courtesy to Xie You. “This junior, Liu Shang, greets Valley Master Xie.”
Liu Ban Xin smiled. “This is the next Liu Family Head. I specially brought her to show you.”
Xie You looked at the woman below and understood. Also an Innate Single Spiritual Root, Liu Shang’s demeanor was stable, and she remained unperturbed by events, clearly much better than Liu Yu’an. It was no wonder Liu Ban Xin acted so ruthlessly, shattering Liu Yu’an’s Nascent Soul—the next Family Head could only be Liu Shang. Recalling the Family Head’s personal letter Liu Yu’an brought when he came to Yanggu, Xie You narrowed her eyes suspiciously. ” Liu Ban Xin, you arrived so quickly—was it to deal with Liu Yu’an?” She had just received Xie Qing Shuang’s telepathic message when Liu Ban Xin arrived at Yanggu with her retinue. Xie You even suspected Liu Ban Xin had come to kill Liu Yu’an, merely coinciding with today’s events.
The smile in Liu Ban Xin’s eyes gradually deepened. “After so many years, you still understand me the best.”
In front of Cloud-Treading Residence, Dong Jun glanced at the sword in Lan Shan Jun’s hand.
“Lan Shan, what are you holding a sword for?”
Lan Shan Jun and Cang Wu stood some distance apart. She hesitated before handing it over. “I got it for my Junior Sister.”
Cang Wu took the sword and tried to move closer to thank her, but before she could speak, the other woman ran away, her retreating figure looking as if she were fleeing something terrifying.
Cang Wu froze, murmuring in confusion, “Senior Sister, do you dislike me?”
Dong Jun patted her shoulder. “Your Senior Sister is timid; today’s events probably frightened her.”
Cang Wu glanced at the hand on her shoulder, dodged away, and then ran off as well.
Dong Jun let her hand fall into empty space and sighed softly as she watched the receding backs.
“Ah Chi, she is very much like you.”
