- Chapter 45 - Senior Sister, I Also Want to Lay an Egg with You."
That egg aggressively occupied the entire lotus platform. When Lanshan Jun (蘭山君) tried to reach out and take it, she felt a gentle force of refusal, as if it were politely declining.
Lanshan Jun: “…”
By what right do you monopolize this?
Unfortunately, the egg couldn’t speak, so Lanshan Jun could only grind her teeth in frustration.
She exited her Sea of Consciousness with an indescribable feeling. Under the watch of several pairs of eyes, Lanshan Jun’s gaze lingered on Zhaochen for a few moments.
Seemingly sensing the look, Zhaochen’s brows and eyes shifted slightly.
“Did you find it?” Lingguang asked anxiously.
Lanshan Jun nodded: “I found it, it’s just that…”
It’s just that an egg took it for a nest.
Unable to disclose the reason, Lanshan Jun simply said: “I can’t get it out.”
Lingguang considered this and offered an explanation: “Perhaps the Divine Artifact is newly formed. It should become possible once it gradually becomes familiar with the Artifact Master.”
This was only a small issue, and she had truly forged a Divine Artifact—that was the biggest cause for celebration!
Lingguang smacked her lips as if savoring something. She squinted, reminiscing: “It would be wonderful to have some wine right now.”
Regrettably, when they entered Azure Cloud Academy, Elder Xue had confiscated all the bottles of clear spirit wine she had brought.
“We do! We do!” Xiao Jiu excitedly stood up: “Elder Xue has an entire wine cellar!”
The two exchanged glances and winked at each other simultaneously.
“Haisheng, you take Lanshan and the others to the Cloud Zenith. We’ll join you later.”
Lingguang tugged Song Qingcheng (宋清成) but found she couldn’t move her. Biting her lip, she used more force and managed to drag the person away.
A gentle, helpless sigh from Song Qingcheng drifted through the air.
Xiao Jiu’s excited laughter followed: “Let’s go, let’s go, I’ll show you the way.”
The figures of Lingguang and Xiao Jiu looked furtive, making it easy to guess what they were up to.
They were going to steal Elder Xue’s wine.
Mo Haisheng coughed twice, covering his mouth with a fist, and pointed his short flute in a direction: “Then should we head to the Cloud Zenith first?”
“The Cloud Zenith?”
“Yes, it’s the highest point on the cloud mountain that connects Azure Cloud Academy to the Kunlun Ruins. The scenery is ineffably beautiful, and you can look down upon the entire Four Seas and Eight Realms.”
Several streaks of light shot through the clouds, and upon reaching the Cloud Zenith—
Lanshan Jun looked down through the clouds; the Four Seas were spread out below her, and she could even faintly see the illusionary mist surrounding the borders of Yanggu.
“Is that the Kunlun Ruins?” Lanshan Jun pointed at a faintly visible high mountain not far ahead.
Mo Haisheng nodded: “It is. The Kunlun Ruins are at the juncture of the Eight Realms. I hear there are High Immortals inside, too.”
“High Immortals.” Lanshan Jun mused that there were quite a few Immortals in this region. “Is the Kunlun Ruins the reclusive dwelling of that High Immortal?”
Mo Haisheng smiled: “I don’t know that either. Only the Palace Masters of the Four Directions are permitted to enter the Kunlun Ruins.”
So mysterious? Lanshan Jun wondered briefly.
“Lanshan,” Zhaochen spoke up from the side, “come over here for a moment.”
Lanshan Jun gave Mo Haisheng a polite smile, then followed Zhaochen to the side.
Facing the direction of the Kunlun Ruins atop the Cloud Zenith was a stone stele not formed by the clouds. The stele was carved with complex runes and some characters Lanshan Jun couldn’t understand. The stele stood in a suspended area, and Lanshan Jun and Zhaochen stood beside it.
Zhaochen’s voice was soft: “Lanshan, did you see something in your Sea of Consciousness?”
Lanshan Jun ‘Mhm’d,’ then sighed: “I found it. That egg.”
It was truly in her Sea of Consciousness, but why had her Divine Sense failed to find any trace of it on multiple previous attempts?
“I asked Dean Xuan. She said this egg won’t harm me, and I don’t need to trouble myself trying to remove it,” Lanshan Jun’s eyes reflected the flowing cloud micro-light, her tone lazy. “Dean Xuan is an Immortal; since she says so, I’ll just pretend it doesn’t exist.”
Zhaochen chuckled lightly: “In that case, Lanshan intends to keep it.”
Lanshan Jun glanced at her, somewhat helpless: “What else can I do? But thankfully, it’s in my Sea of Consciousness and not in my belly; otherwise, I’d be pestering you daily for elixirs.”
Afterward, the two of them laughed together. This conversation was casual and heartfelt, with no barrier cast. Mo Haisheng, who was nearby, was of good character and wouldn’t engage in eavesdropping.
A little while later, Lingguang and the others arrived. Lingguang and Xiao Jiu were flushed, faintly smelling of wine, while Song Qingcheng, whom Lingguang had dragged, looked somewhat scandalized. The Young Master of Floating Jade Island possessed a noble identity and endless rare treasures, yet now she was involved in theft for a few bottles of wine.
Xiao Jiu knew the location of the wine cellar. She diverted Elder Xue’s attention, and Lingguang manipulated the mechanical birds in conjunction with Song Qingcheng’s spatial formation, secretly moving a small portion of the cellar’s fine wine collection.
“Come, come, these are all top-quality wines,” Lingguang beckoned, one hand patting her chest. “Today, I accomplished the thing I most wanted to do. I have no regrets even if I die.”
Song Qingcheng clicked her tongue in displeasure and slapped Lingguang’s lower back: “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Lingguang chuckled playfully, nudged Song Qingcheng’s shoulder, and corrected herself: “Not dying, not dying. I’m a Vermillion Bird, you know. I can still undergo Nirvana.”
Song Qingcheng snorted.
The group sat down on the ground; the clouds were soft and comfortable. It was sunset, and the rosy glow shone through the clouds onto everyone. Scattered golden light reflected in Lanshan Jun’s light-colored pupils, followed by a new shade of color.
She turned her head to see Cang Wu (蒼梧).
“Cang Wu? Where did you go just now?”
Cang Wu did not reply, her eyes fixed steadily on her, her thin lips tightly pressed.
Lanshan Jun was puzzled by her stare: “What’s wrong?”
“Come, come, this wine is brewed from the Sun-Welcoming Pine Needles of Yanggu; it’s perfect for Lanshan and Cang Wu. It’s infused with Yanggu’s spiritual energy, which is also excellent for stabilizing Lanshan’s cultivation realm.”
Lingguang rushed over to the two, interrupting the conversation.
The wine cups were also taken by Lingguang from the wine cellar; different cups paired with different wines, showing great care. It seemed Elder Xue was a connoisseur of wine appreciation. The clear glazed wine cup held liquor the color of grass and wood, carrying the freshness of morning dew and the subtle fragrance of pine needles.
As soon as the wine was in the cup, Lanshan Jun was still observing the marvelous changes of the liquor when she turned her head and found Cang Wu’s cup was already empty.
Lanshan Jun: “?”
“Junior Sister, something on your mind?” Lanshan Jun tilted her head and asked Cang Wu quietly.
Cang Wu gripped her cup tightly, saying nothing.
Lingguang and the others had brought seven or eight kinds of wine, with a corresponding number of sets of cups. Drinking so many cups of mixed spiritual wine inevitably left these unrestrained young people physically and mentally intoxicated.
The empty bottles and cups slowly dissolved into spiritual energy and scattered. On the Cloud Zenith beneath the stars, several figures lay scattered.
The Young Master of the Listening Snow Tower swayed, emptying the last cup of wine. The short flute in his hand spun a few times, and spiritual power spread out. As the melodious flute music played, the surrounding sea of clouds was stirred and began to surge. The moon was hazy in the night sky, and to the tipsy youths, the scene felt like a dream.
Lingguang closed her eyes, holding Song Qingcheng’s arm, smiling happily and contentedly: “Beautiful music.”
Song Qingcheng held her hand: “Mhm.”
Xiao Jiu was fast asleep but also smiled as the flute music wafted through her dreams.
Zhaochen was beside Xiao Jiu, maintaining a proper posture even while lying down, with her hands folded over her lower abdomen. Her face didn’t show drunkenness, but her frequent blinking revealed that she was out of sorts.
Near the edge of the cliff, slightly farther away, Lanshan Jun firmly held Cang Wu’s shoulders, pressing her down to lie flat. After a few cups of wine, the child started making a fuss, insisting on coming over here, saying she wanted to fly. Drunk and silly like this, she still wants to fly? She probably can’t even manage her sword.
Perhaps because of the wine, Cang Wu’s breathing was heavier than usual. Lanshan Jun was relatively sober. She pressed her arm across Cang Wu’s chest, thinking it would be safer to keep her still and farther away.
Just as she was about to get up, Cang Wu suddenly raised her hand and grabbed Lanshan Jun’s shoulder, using abrupt force to switch their positions. This time, Cang Wu was pressed face-to-face against Lanshan Jun.
“Senior Sister.”
Cang Wu’s tone sounded somewhat wronged, and Lanshan Jun’s struggling softened slightly.
Cang Wu buried her head in her Senior Sister’s neck, her breath hot and searing.
“Senior Sister.”
Lanshan Jun’s eyes flickered. The sound of rapidly beating hearts intertwined in her ear; she felt like she was getting a little drunk too. The head nestled at her neck was restless, constantly rubbing against her. Before long, it had rubbed Lanshan Jun’s collar loose, exposing the fair, white skin underneath and a small area of her delicate collarbone.
“Cang Wu!” Lanshan Jun hissed softly, trying to stop her.
She then turned her head to check the reactions of the others. She couldn’t be seen with her clothes disheveled and Cang Wu pressed against her, or it would be impossible to explain.
This turning of her head allowed Cang Wu to rub her clothes open a little more, revealing a faint half-moon bite mark. Cang Wu’s movements paused. She propped herself up with one hand and used the other to directly tear open half of Lanshan Jun’s clothes, fully exposing the bite mark.
Lanshan Jun never expected Cang Wu to tear off someone’s clothes while drunk. She froze for a moment, and before she could even react, a slap had landed on Cang Wu’s face.
A sharp, ‘slap!’ sound echoed.
“Huh? Who’s setting off firecrackers?” Distant Lingguang’s voice was still hazy.
Lanshan Jun hastily pushed the person away, pulled her own clothes back in place, and blocked Cang Wu from view, pretending nothing had happened when the others glanced over.
Pain shot through her palm. Lanshan Jun looked at Cang Wu’s face regretfully, and the sight truly startled her. Cang Wu’s cheek clearly bore five bright red finger marks.
“Cang Wu…” Lanshan Jun reached out to touch Cang Wu’s face, apologizing: “I’m sorry, Senior Sister didn’t mean to.”
Just as her hand was about to touch the almost-swollen cheek, Cang Wu suddenly raised her hand and grabbed her wrist.
“The injury on Senior Sister’s shoulder was from a snake demon’s bite. Is the egg in the Sea of Consciousness also left by that snake demon?”
Lanshan Jun frowned slightly, quickly realizing that Cang Wu must have overheard her conversation with Zhaochen earlier, which explained why she had been staring at her.
“No,” Lanshan Jun tried to pull her wrist free, but Cang Wu’s grip was too strong. She had no choice but to soften her voice and coax: “Loosen up a bit, I’ll put some ointment on you.”
Cang Wu did not let go, her eyes filled with stubbornness, seemingly determined to get an answer: “What kind of egg is it?”
Lanshan Jun thought resignedly, How would she know what kind of egg it is? Dean Xuan didn’t tell her.
Seeing that Lanshan Jun couldn’t answer, Cang Wu increased the pressure on her hand, pulling Lanshan Jun in and holding her tightly.
A sentence of “Cang Wu” was caught in her throat, stunned by Cang Wu’s next words—
“Senior Sister, I also want to lay an egg with you.”
