- Too Late to Regret, She’s Now With the Big Boss
- Chapter 8 - The Big Shot Protects His Wife
Some people hurled cakes, red wine, and champagne at Ye Qianqian, but Bai Lang, who had rushed over, blocked everything with his suit jacket, not a single drop touched her.
Others raised their glasses, ready to smash them at Ye Qianqian, but the overwhelming aura emanating from Lu Jingchen froze them in place, too terrified to move.
“Get the hell out of here!” Lu Jingchen roared at those trying to approach him, then kicked the girl who had splashed wine first, sending her flying.
“Third Master~~ My sister was just being foolish. Please don’t be angry. I’ll apologize on her behalf,” Ye Qingyan cooed in a sickly sweet voice.
Seeing Lu Jingchen pull Ye Qianqian into his arms in front of everyone, she was so consumed by jealousy that she seized the chance to get closer to him.
“My boss told you to get lost. Can’t you understand?” Bai Lang sneered at Ye Qingyan, his voice dripping with disdain.
Lu Jingchen shot a cold glance at Ye Qingyan in her bridal gown. Earlier, he had been standing in the crowd, anxiously waiting for the woman he loved.
This bride, for some inexplicable reason, kept trying to sidle up to him. If it weren’t for his wife’s sake, he would’ve already broken her legs.
Ye Qingyan shivered under Lu Jingchen’s icy gaze and instinctively retreated into Ye Ruixuan’s arms. “Brother Xuan~~”
“Oh ho! You two pretty boys think you can stand up for Ye Qianqian? How hilarious.”
The cousin of the Song family stepped to the other side of Ye Ruixuan, hands on her hips, sneering contemptuously.
She had long harbored feelings for the eldest Ye brother. To get closer to him, she had always flattered Ye Qingyan while belittling Ye Qianqian.
All the guests here knew of Lu Jingchen’s ruthless reputation as the “Living King of Hell,” but most had never actually seen him in person.
Those who recognized Lu Jingchen didn’t know Ye Qianqian, so they stood by, watching silently as the Song cousin hurled insults.
Some wealthy ladies and young misses, eager to curry favor with the three Ye brothers, even joined in the mockery.
“The reputations of the Ye family’s two daughters are like night and day, the elder sister gentle and kind, a rare talent, while the younger is arrogant, vicious, and utterly mediocre.”
“I heard today’s wedding was supposed to be between the Ye family’s eldest daughter and the Song heir. The bride is so beautiful, so kind!”
“Of course she’s beautiful! Did you know? Young Master Song waited three long years just to marry the eldest Ye daughter.”
“Was it really such a hardship? I heard Young Master Song was in a car accident three years ago, and the second Ye daughter took care of him the entire time.”
“Really? Well, in that case, no wonder the second daughter brought these two pretty boys to crash the wedding!”
“Crash what? Didn’t you see the Ye brothers scolding her earlier?”
“The groom, Young Master Song, and the bride, the eldest Ye daughter, are such a perfect match. If she dares ruin this, I’ll be the first to stop her.”
Ye Qianqian’s parents, her three brothers, the Song family, and the groom all stood by Ye Qingyan’s side, yet none spoke up to silence the ridicule.
The malicious slander and mockery were nothing new. For the past eight years, whenever Ye Qianqian and Ye Qingyan appeared together, this treatment had followed like a shadow.
The gossip of outsiders no longer hurt Ye Qianqian, but the betrayal of her family cut deep.
Seeing his beloved remain unfazed by the cruel words, as if she had endured this countless times before, Lu Jingchen burned with the urge to kick the teeth out of every liar.
But Ye Qianqian held his arm tightly, silently urging him not to lose his temper.
Though his heart ached unbearably, he was willing to respect her wishes, lowering his gaze to focus on playing with her slender fingers as if they were rare treasures.
The chilling aura emanating from him suffocated everyone in the banquet hall, yet it still couldn’t silence the mouths of those who dared to provoke.
On the other hand, Bai Lang, listening to the mocking remarks around him, took a closer look at the bride.
Though Ye Qingyan could be considered beautiful, standing next to their madam, she was instantly outshone like fireflies next to the bright moon.
In Bai Lang’s heart, their madam was naturally the bright moon, so he loudly challenged, “How can you all lie through your teeth like this?”
Though Bai Lang wasn’t as handsome as Lu Jingchen, he was still striking, standing at 188 cm tall, dressed in expensive attire.
Having followed Lu Jingchen for years, his presence was far more imposing than most.
The young ladies who had been gossiping eagerly and the mothers with marriageable daughters immediately fell silent, staring at Bai Lang in awe.
Meanwhile, the wealthy young men grew jealous. “What did we say that was wrong? Ye Qianqian is truly domineering and vicious-”
Before the man could finish, Bai Lang cut him off fiercely, “Vicious your ass! Domineering? Did she dig up your family’s ancestral grave?
Vicious? Did she eat your family’s rice? Keep running your mouth, and I’ll beat you to death.”
With that, he swung his fist, striking the man square in the face and knocking him to the ground.
He raised his fist threateningly at the crowd. “Go on, keep talking. If I hear anyone slandering the Ye family’s second daughter again, one punch won’t be the end of it.”
Bai Lang’s ferocity sent the gossips fleeing in panic, some accidentally knocking over champagne glasses.
Others trampled over flowers and scattered ribbons. Within minutes, the once-lively wedding venue was in complete disarray.
The floor was littered with crushed petals, ribbons, overturned champagne, toppled floral arrangements, and fallen desserts.
Amidst it all stood the furious bride and groom, their twisted expressions a testament to how absurd and laughable this wedding had become.
The room fell dead silent, no one daring to speak. Before Ye Qianqian’s eyes floated dense lines of text:
[Bai Lang is so cool! No wonder he’s the boss’s personal secretary and bodyguard, his combat skills are unmatched. His bonus this month is definitely doubling again!]
[I’d take a dozen assistants like Bai Lang. The way he shuts people down is just too awesome.]
Ye Qianqian’s eldest brother held the tearful Ye Qingyan in his arms, his rage burning away all reason.
After carefully handing Ye Qingyan over to Song Yuntao, he stormed up to Ye Qianqian and roared, “Someone! Take Ye Qianqian to the hospital, her mental illness has relapsed!”
“Big Brother says I’m mentally ill. Third Master, do you think I’m sick?” Ye Qianqian looked up at Lu Jingchen with red-rimmed eyes.
In truth, she wasn’t truly upset, but for some reason, her nose stung, and her eyes burned with unshed tears.
Seeing the person in his arms looking like a wronged child finally meeting a guardian, Lu Jingchen pressed a hand to Ye Qianqian’s head and calmly ordered, “Bai Lang, take Eldest Young Master Ye for a checkup. There’s something wrong with his brain.”
“Yes, sir.” Bai Lang’s execution was swift, within moments, he had restrained Ye Qianqian’s brother.
“Qianqian, Big Brother only wants what’s best for you. If you’re sick, you should get treated,” the eldest brother shouted, his arms twisted behind his back by Bai Lang.
“You must be seriously ill. Don’t you know the Second Young Lady is already our master’s wife?” Bai Lang said in a low voice, tearing off a piece of Ye Big Brother’s sleeve and stuffing it into his mouth.
“Mm… mmph…” Ye Big Brother struggled desperately, glaring threateningly at Ye Qianqian with his eyes.
This younger sister had feared him for eight years without change, one fierce look from him was enough to make her yield.
If only she hadn’t constantly tried to frame Yanyan and oppose her, he wouldn’t have wanted to hurt her either!
