Too Late to Regret, She’s Now With the Big Boss - Chapter 19
When the young wife called him an “old fool” in front of his sons, three daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, Old Master Lu’s aged, wrinkled hands trembled with rage, veins bulging as if he might snap the expensive cane in his grip.
Yet, as he glanced sideways at his young wife’s icy yet still beautiful face, his wise eyes burned with fury but also betrayed a hint of resignation.
With a dark expression, he bellowed at the bodyguards by the door, “What are you standing around for? Take the Madam to the hospital at once!”
“Hus…band~ Won’t you come with me?” The Madam’s eyes reddened at the corners, her voice fragile and pitiful.
She would rather have called him an “old fool”, especially seeing how his wrinkles resembled tree bark, something she found utterly repulsive.
But when she realized the old fool was more interested in currying favor with that little vixen than escorting her to the hospital, she had no choice but to play the meek wife. No matter how grave her mistakes, a single coquettish “husband” would always dissolve his anger.
Had she ever stooped to flatter him, the old fool would have gladly given her his life but what use did she have for it?
So she rarely called him “husband,” let alone groveled before him.
Madam Lu waited haughtily for Old Master Lu to console her, only to hear Ye Qianqian’s surprised voice: “Mom, why go to the hospital? You’re not sick!”
Ye Qianqian stepped forward, pretending to support Madam Lu while secretly twisting her fingers back into place.
“Ah-!” The Lu family once again heard the crisp sound of bones snapping, followed by the Madam’s agonized scream.
The sound of his young wife’s fingers breaking once more sent fury coursing through Old Master Lu’s veins, his aged, shadowed eyes flashing dangerously.
His voice emerged low and strained: “Ye Qianqian, don’t push it. No matter what, Ruyi is still Jingchen’s mother-”
“Dad, I was just reassuring everyone that Mom is fine. If you don’t believe me, call the family doctor to check,” Ye Qianqian said, blinking her lively eyes innocently.
“Hmph!” Old Master Lu turned away, refusing to look at her, just the sight of her made his blood boil.
“Doctor, please check if my mother-in-law’s fingers are broken,” the eldest daughter-in-law called gently.
Born into nobility, she had not only married the man she loved but also bore him a son and a daughter.
Though her mother-in-law, close in age to her, treated her own son poorly, she never dared show disrespect to her and her husband.
Not because her husband was particularly formidable, but because her late mother-in-law’s family was powerful and her own family was no pushover either. The young stepmother couldn’t touch her.
“Master, the Third Young Madam is right. The Madam is in perfect health,” the thirty-something medical doctorate said, wiping sweat from his brow.
He, too, had heard the sound of snapping bones, yet no matter how he examined her, nothing was broken.
“You… you…” Madam Lu’s pupils trembled in shock. Not only was there no pain, but her fingers could bend freely. She stared at Ye Qianqian in disbelief.
“Dad, Mom, Eldest Brother, Eldest Sister-in-Law, Second Sister-in-Law, Yao Yao,” Ye Qianqian called out, pausing briefly before pointing at the people behind Lu Yao.
“And the rest of you, since it was just a false alarm, sit down and have some hot soup to calm your nerves.”
“Ruyi, Dr. Zhang says you’re fine, so you must be. Sit down and eat,” Old Master Lu said, his face stormy.
He wasn’t blind, how could he not know his young wife loved to stir up trouble? Normally, when she picked on their son, he turned a blind eye, treating it as playful banter between mother and child.
But this was the first time meeting their daughter-in-law, and Ruyi had the audacity to act out without knowing her place.
Didn’t she realize how hard it was for their cold, aloof son to find a wife in the first place?
Ye Qianqian watched as Old Madam Lu obediently sat beside the old master. She shot the old woman a challenging look: If you knew this would happen, why act up in the first place?
If she had just behaved and not picked fights from the start, none of this would’ve happened.
Truly, a wicked mother-in-law was like a dog, she needed to be trained.
“Sister~~ How could you treat Grandma Lu like this?” A girl in her twenties angrily demanded.
“Sister? Before you try to claim kinship, take a good look in the mirror. Our family’s ancestral graves would never produce a dark cloud like you,” Ye Qianqian retorted disdainfully.
Her words instantly silenced the Lu family. Everyone quietly took their seats in order.
“Hmph, don’t think just because you married Third Master Lu, you can do whatever you want!” Li Xiangwei’s voice dripped with scorn.
Holding onto the arms of both the eldest and second Lu wives, she glared contemptuously at Ye Qianqian.
“Yao Yao, who is she? She doesn’t look like part of the Lu family,” Ye Qianqian asked, turning to Lu Yao.
“Qianqian, she’s the daughter of my second aunt’s brother, Li Xiangwei,” Lu Yao explained, quickly stepping in front of Ye Qianqian as if shielding her from any harm.
[This Li Xiangwei has a crush on the big boss. Too bad, the boss only likes the female antagonist and has never given her the time of day, nor any chance to get close.]
[She had to settle for pursuing Lu Yao’s eldest brother instead. Unfortunately, Lu Zhenting is into the female lead, and her skills aren’t good enough to sway him.]
[LMAO! Lu Yao has no idea her brother Lu Zhenting likes the female lead. She thinks he’s into her best friend and keeps trying to set them up.]
[The wicked mother-in-law is disgusting. This old white lotus doesn’t even like Grandpa Lu but still has to act coquettish with him. Kinda starting to like the female antagonist, what do I do?]
[Honestly, watching the villainess tear into the wicked mother-in-law is so satisfying. But Grandpa Lu totally falls for the old white lotus act, did you see how he looked like he wanted to rip the female antagonist apart just now?]
[Female antagonist, go all out! As long as you don’t get hurt, the big boss will be thrilled. He’s watching the hall surveillance from the car right now.]
[If the female antagonist backs down, the boss will be furious, and tonight you’ll be ‘flipped like a pancake’ in every possible position~~]
[The more unrestrained the female antagonist is, the happier the boss gets. When he comes back, he’ll reward you, letting you touch his eight-pack abs, his v-line, his sculpted arms…]
Reading the barrage of comments, Ye Qianqian decided to toy with Li Xiangwei, the niece of the second Lu wife. “Your name is Li Xiangwei?”
“Why should I tell you? Don’t think just because you dress like a peacock, everyone will like you!” Li Xiangwei sneered.
“Thanks for the compliment.” Ye Qianqian nodded matter-of-factly, looking thoroughly pleased.
Furious, Li Xiangwei stomped her foot. “When did I compliment you? Can’t you even tell sarcasm? Are you stupid?”
“I know you meant it sincerely. After all, not everyone has the assets to ‘dress like a peacock,’ right?” Ye Qianqian’s gaze swept pointedly over Li Xiangwei.
She nudged Lu Yao aside and leaned in, whispering behind her hand, “Is she mentally ill?”
“Qianqian, she’s not sick. We just had full-body checkups together two days ago,” Lu Yao answered bluntly.
“You shameless! Grandpa Lu, look at her!” Li Xiangwei screeched, turning to tattle in frustration.
“Dad, have some hot soup first before you judge. I didn’t dress up on purpose today, I’m just naturally beautiful.” Ye Qianqian handed the bowl of soup the servant had given her to Old Master Lu.
“You… you… you!” Li Xiangwei was so furious she began to stammer. She raised a finger to point at Ye Qianqian, only to lower it again, intimidated by her glare.
