To Marry My Little Chestnut - Chapter 35
The storm was brewing.
Yu Yan’s heart drummed against his ribs. He looked down at the man buried between his legs who had so easily taken that chestnut candy, holding it in his mouth until it completely melted. The concentration of pheromones in the living room spiked suddenly, yet he was the only one who could smell it.
Yu Yan occasionally felt grateful that Zheng Tingyang could not smell his scent. That way, the man would never know how excited and joyful his pheromones became when he was aroused. They were like beans leaping across piano strings, the sound echoing loudly in his mind.
“Little Fish, Little Fish.”
Zheng Tingyang’s voice, thickened by drink, was pleasant to the ear. It sounded deep and muffled as he called Yu Yan’s name while eating. Yu Yan’s wrists were held firmly. With his body being hindered by his pregnancy, he had nowhere to hide. At this moment, he truly understood the danger he was in. The man looked up at him with tearful eyes, his sense of grievance seemingly magnified.
Yu Yan did not struggle. His face was flushed as he leaned back against the sofa. When he looked down, his protruding pregnant belly blocked his view of Zheng Tingyang’s head. He reached out tentatively to stroke the man’s ear, sensing his small movements and allowing the intrusion.
The Strelitzia plant sat on the coffee table with its large, lush green leaves. The transparent vase was half-filled with water. The ripples in the water swayed back and forth, shimmering in the night like scattered silver.
Yu Yan was thoroughly consumed until he felt faint and dizzy. Being pregnant, his physical strength was lacking, and this ordeal was truly taxing.
“You, this will not do,” Yu Yan panted.
Zheng Tingyang opened his mouth, his Adam’s apple bobbing. The taste of the chestnut candy still lingered in his mouth. As he looked at Yu Yan’s satiated yet dazed expression, his fingertips trembled and he took small breaths.
“Is Little Fish sweet?” he whispered with a light chuckle.
The remaining sweetness of the candy was swallowed along with everything else. Zheng Tingyang felt a true sense of satisfaction, as if he had finally tasted Yu Yan’s flavor. A smile played on his lips as he affectionately pressed his nose against Yu Yan’s belly and gave it a kiss. “This child is quite well-behaved.”
Yu Yan thought to himself, How could he not be well-behaved? He only had a limited amount of pheromones. On a daily basis, Zheng Tingyang caused them to scatter everywhere. If the little one did not stay quiet in the womb, there would not be enough pheromones for him to grow.
Yu Yan’s constitution was poor. After being carried to the bath, he sank lazily into the quilt and fell into a comfortable sleep. His cheeks were crimson and his eyelashes were still damp.
Zheng Tingyang sat by the bed as his intoxication finally began to fade. He felt a late sense of realization regarding his reckless actions. Yu Yan was exhausted. Engaging in such activities outside of a heat period was physically draining. He decided to buy some nourishing ingredients to make soup the following day.
During pregnancy, the physical reactions are more severe without an Alpha’s pheromones. Yu Yan was now six and a half months along. When he slept at night, he needed a pillow behind his waist and something to hold against his chest, otherwise he would wake up feeling exhausted and miserable. Sometimes he suffered from edema and leg numbness, but he refused to tell Zheng Tingyang, choosing to hide his discomfort instead.
He hid it just as he had hidden his morning sickness before. Yu Yan was afraid that Zheng Tingyang would blame himself, thinking the pregnancy was difficult only because of the lack of Alpha pheromones. Since Yu Yan was constantly thinking of Zheng Tingyang’s well-being, how could Zheng Tingyang not notice? Even though the doctor said these symptoms were normal regardless of pheromones, and that pregnancy was difficult for everyone, pheromones could only alleviate so much.
Zheng Tingyang sat by the bed and watched the sleeping figure quietly. He was always greedily fond of touching and watching the Yu Yan who belonged to him. Even though Yu Yan was obedient and stayed at home, it never felt like enough. He saw how cute and endearing Yu Yan was, and a dark part of his mind wanted to consume him bit by bit.
Zheng Tingyang felt as though his illness might never be cured. He loved seeing Yu Yan unable to escape his ministrations, whimpering and crying, yet unable to bring himself to strike back. He loved that Yu Yan’s smiles and tears were all for him.
What kind of psychological state was this? Even Jing Chen thought he was beyond help. Jing Chen said that Zheng Tingyang treated Yu Yan like a pet cat. Zheng Tingyang disagreed. He did not even like animals; he had been so jealous of the orange kitten at the flower shop that he had it neutered. He could not tolerate anyone else being near Yu Yan. He simply wanted to keep Yu Yan firmly within his own world.
Jing Chen had asked, “Can you keep him there for a lifetime?” Zheng Tingyang replied, “I can.”
Regarding a situation where one was willing to give and the other was willing to receive, Jing Chen could not really intervene. He felt Zheng Tingyang’s greed was too great and feared he would end up hurting both himself and Yu Yan.
Two days later, Yu Yan suddenly developed a fever. Zhou Jiangru said it was because he had been physically overextended lately, causing his resistance to drop. However, Zhou Jiangru was curious during the examination. She asked, “That is strange. There is no swelling, so why has his resistance dropped so much?”
Yu Yan pulled the quilt up to cover half of his face, too embarrassed to answer. He looked at Zheng Tingyang as if pleading for help. Zheng Tingyang cleared his throat and asked, “I bought some deer whip. Will that help?”
“It is too nourishing. If you overdo it, his body will not be able to absorb it. Perhaps you two should sleep in separate rooms for a while.”
Yu Yan pulled the quilt over his entire face, refusing to answer the doctor. He truly felt that being an Omega was embarrassing. Why was it that even though they were both men, their physical stamina differed so much? His body was sensitive, and any reaction made him uncomfortable. Now that his belly was large, he found it difficult to move, and Zheng Tingyang could not bear to see him in pain. No matter what method they used, Zheng Tingyang made sure Yu Yan’s comfort came first.
As a husband, Zheng Tingyang liked to consult his wife on everything. He would ask if something was good, if a certain spot was okay, or if he could eat him. Yu Yan had a soft heart; one loved to ask and the other loved to agree. As a result, Yu Yan had not left the bed for several days.
One session for Zheng Tingyang was equal to three for Yu Yan. After several days of clinging to each other, Yu Yan was the first to fall ill.
Meanwhile, the Strelitzia in the living room grew larger and its leaves became more beautiful. It was as if the fertilizer was too rich and the plant was growing exceptionally well. A single plant had begun to take root and sprout wantonly in their home. Since there was not much work at the company at the end of the year, Zheng Tingyang let everyone take their annual leave a week early. He bought many supplements and the house was filled with the scent of tonic soups and medicinal meals.
Xiang Qian called several times, complaining about his own family troubles and nagging Yu Yan. “I think you have been brainwashed by Zheng Tingyang! Do you know what people are saying about him outside lately?”
Yu Yan woke up and held the phone away from his ear. “I do not want to hear bad things about Tingyang.”
Xiang Qian sighed. “You have lived at home for so long that you do not know how dangerous people can be!”
Yu Yan muffled a sound into his quilt as he prepared to get up. Zheng Tingyang heard the movement in the bedroom and came in with a glass of honey water. Yu Yan’s head was halfway off the bed, so Zheng Tingyang knelt by the bedside to catch him and handed him the straw.
The person on the phone continued to chatter. “I heard from my dad that your Old Zheng has been working for the Changxing Chamber of Commerce in the capital. That man named Pei Changji is not a good person. I am afraid that your husband will be influenced by him. He has locked you at home, so when can I come to see you?”
Yu Yan took a few sips of honey water. “I am pregnant and it is not convenient for me to go out.”
“After the New Year, my family will let me take over the company. Why do you not just quit the flower shop and become my secretary? We can play together every day. I can also brainwash you so that you stay with me every day. Our childhood friendship is definitely more reliable than Zheng Tingyang!”
Yu Yan murmured, “I have already discussed it with Tingyang.” “Discussed what?”
Zheng Tingyang sat by the bed and massaged Yu Yan’s calves, pretending not to hear Xiang Qian’s insults. Xiang Qian had grown up with Yu Yan and had no ill intentions. The last time they went to the airport, he had even chartered a private plane for fear that Yu Yan would be uncomfortable. However, Xiang Qian had older brothers who wanted to seize the family business, and his father felt he was useless, forcing him to go on blind dates to find a capable husband to manage the household.
Lately, Xiang Qian had been pleasantly surprised to find that he could legitimately inherit the business. Several of his uncles had begged him to take over, which made him feel very proud. He had sent many messages to brag to Yu Yan. In reality, Zheng Tingyang had allocated several projects to the Xiang family and specifically requested that the young master handle them.
Yu Yan knew these things were thanks to Zheng Tingyang. He curled his toes, and Zheng Tingyang tickled his sole before helping him put on his socks. Holding his phone, Yu Yan said, “I plan to take over the flower shop and open my own store in the future.”
Xiang Qian was surprised. “What? But after the New Year, I have to help at the family company. I cannot help you out then.” Yu Yan smiled and said it was not necessary.
The scent of yam and pork rib soup wafted into the living room. Yu Yan’s stomach growled, so he snuggled into Zheng Tingyang’s arms. He had not drunk much water the night before, but his calves were still slightly swollen.
Zheng Tingyang waited until he hung up the phone. “Why does the young President Xiang not thank me for the favor and instead speak ill of me to you? I thought if I settled things for him and let him gain some experience in the company, he would bother you less.” Zheng Tingyang shook his head helplessly.
He had hoped that since his Little Fish only had a month and a half left before his due date, he could have some peace and quiet. He did not expect Xiang Qian to find time to insult him even while busy. This was the first time Zheng Tingyang had been at a disadvantage, and he felt slightly annoyed that he had miscalculated.
Yu Yan chuckled. He felt that Tingyang was truly a good person, the kindest in the world. Not only did he help Yu Yan think through things, but he was also good to his friends. His husband was truly the best man under heaven.
It was nearly noon by the time he slowly got out of bed. As soon as he stepped out of the bedroom, he saw two people sitting in the living room.
Zheng Tingyang frowned. “Why have you not left yet?”
The man on the sofa did not even turn around. He flipped through the documents in his hand and said, “You have not agreed to what I asked, so how can I leave?”
Sitting next to the man was a boy who looked quite young. He peered out curiously. Even inside the house, he wore a knit hat with rabbit ears that looked very realistic. His vivid eyes were incredibly cute, and it was obvious at a glance that he was an Omega. “Chairman Pei, President Zheng’s Omega really is pregnant! Quick, look!”
The man on the sofa was poked in the cheek by the Omega. He slowly put down the documents and turned around.
Yu Yan hid behind Zheng Tingyang and whispered, “Why did you not tell me we had guests?” From the time he woke up until Zheng Tingyang finished massaging his legs and coaxed him out of bed, they had lingered in the bedroom for nearly two hours. Letting guests wait for two hours seemed quite impolite. Furthermore, he had never seen these two people before; they were complete strangers.
Chairman Pei. Was that not the President Pei that Xiang Qian had mentioned on the phone? The head of the Changxing Chamber of Commerce. If he calculated correctly, Zheng Tingyang’s company in Haicheng was a branch of Changxing, which meant this man was Zheng Tingyang’s boss.
Yu Yan was still in his pajamas. Zheng Tingyang did not like others staring at Yu Yan. He frowned, causing Pei Changji to let out a light laugh. Pei Changji turned his face back, appearing to have no interest in another man’s Omega. He said with a smile, “President Zheng’s heart is only as big as a needle’s point. Do not be so hostile in the middle of the day.”
On the contrary, the Omega next to him had a smile in his eyes. He whispered to Pei Changji, “Why does Zheng Tingyang look even more fierce than you?”
Yu Yan sighed and whispered, “Tingyang is not fierce at all.”
Zheng Tingyang heard this and the corners of his lips curled up. He helped Yu Yan to the dining room to eat. The two of them served soup and began their meal. Zheng Tingyang did not even provide bowls or chopsticks for the guests. Yu Yan whispered, “Is he not your boss?”
Zheng Tingyang rubbed his head and said, “He is here to ask me for a favor. I am currently trying to get rid of them.”
Yu Yan obediently took a bite of a pineapple bun and said, “Oh.”
The Omega on the sofa let out a growl from his stomach. He poked Chairman Pei and said, “What should we do, Chairman Pei? My stomach is growling. I am so hungry!”
Yu Yan looked down at his half-eaten pineapple bun and leaned toward Zheng Tingyang’s ear. “Tingyang, the guest is hungry. His stomach is growling.”
