To Marry My Little Chestnut - Chapter 12
The hospital director arrived in a hurry and personally arranged for a new attending physician.
Only a single Omega carrying a child alone would typically need an Alpha volunteer. Suggesting such a thing to a newlywed couple was something Zheng Tingyang found deeply taboo.
In the end, they switched to a female Alpha doctor. Jing Chen mingled in with the crowd to watch the excitement, leaning over to whisper something in the doctor’s ear. The female doctor frowned slightly and pushed him out of the consultation room. “Why didn’t Director Zheng host a banquet when he got married?”
The new attending physician was named Zhou Jiangru. She had long hair tied in a ponytail, and her white lab coat partially hid her biker pants. She looked like an extremely capable and professional woman. She looked at Yu Yan with a smile and clicked her tongue. “Jing Chen just told me he had never seen such an obedient Omega.”
“You look so young yourself, yet you are already going to be a father? Director Zheng moved fast!”
Zheng Tingyang had not expected it to be her. On second thought, there was likely no one in the entire City Center Hospital more professional in the Department of Glandular Reproduction than Zhou Jiangru, so he suppressed his annoyance. Zhou Jiangru had studied glandular science abroad and became a department head immediately upon returning to the country.
Realizing this doctor was Zheng Tingyang’s friend, Yu Yan greeted her politely.
In the past, when he came for check-ups alone, he would simply see whichever doctor the hospital assigned. Today was different; they were doing a 4D color ultrasound, and Zhou Jiangru insisted on personally reviewing every single indicator.
“Lie down on the bed. You have had prenatal exams before, so do not be nervous. Lift your sweater; the gel might be a bit cold.”
Dr. Zhou took over his medical records, looking down at Yu Yan’s chart first. “Mild anemia, weight below the standard… your physical condition is quite poor. Does Zheng Tingyang not feed you?”
“He does, and I eat until I am full,” Yu Yan defended.
Zheng Tingyang sat by the hospital bed, his brow lowered and his aura heavy. “Does it have anything to do with the fact that I cannot provide him with pheromones?”
Betas have no pheromones, and a pregnant Omega is tortured by heat cycles that last longer than usual. Zheng Tingyang held Yu Yan’s small hand in his broad palm and looked at the doctor; he seemed somewhat tense.
Zhou Jiangru looked up and laughed helplessly. “You have asked me this question eight hundred times. Of course it is related, but the connection is not that large. Have you had morning sickness?”
Yu Yan shook his head.
“Usually, Omegas in poor health suffer easily from morning sickness. Once weight falls below a safe value, it affects the development of the fetus. Fetal development has a direct correlation with the frequency of the opening and closing of the reproductive chamber.”
“If the heat cycle is uncomfortable, help is needed. This is necessary. The most important reason Alphas can alleviate an Omega’s pregnancy is that they can inject pheromones after opening the reproductive chamber to achieve growth promotion.”
“Since you do not have pheromones, the time required for the reproductive chamber to open will be longer. What a normal Alpha needs to do once, you need to do three times. Do you understand?” The doctor spoke in a commanding tone, firm and brooking no refusal.
Do…
Yu Yan lay slowly on the examination bed, looking down and biting his lip. At some point, two red clouds quietly drifted onto his cheeks. He and Zheng Tingyang had not even kissed since they were married. Do… do what? How do we do it?
“I understand.” Zheng Tingyang helped him lift his sweatshirt, revealing his slightly rounded, protruding belly.
Zhou Jiangru continued, “If he is very afraid of pain, taking some medication is okay to alleviate the sensation. During the next heat cycle, you cannot just endure it anymore. Your reproductive chamber has already been stretched a bit thin, and the fetus will grow even faster in the sixth month.”
Yu Yan turned his face away, too embarrassed to meet Zheng Tingyang’s eyes.
The smooth little belly was smeared with gel, and an image of a curled-up little person gradually formed on the screen, capturing his gaze. There was also the rhythmic thump-thump-thump of the fetal heartbeat, which sounded exceptionally reassuring.
“Press lighter.” Zheng Tingyang was dissatisfied with the pressure the doctor was applying to the belly; his attention was entirely on Yu Yan.
The red on Yu Yan’s cheeks spread to the tips of his ears. He looked up at the image on the screen with stars in his eyes. The indescribable excitement made him instinctively hook his fingers around Zheng Tingyang’s, curling them happily.
He blinked. “Tingyang!”
Zheng Tingyang leaned down closer to him, smelling the faint sweetness of crème brûlée on his breath. “Hmm? Are you uncomfortable?”
“Look at the baby!” His eyes were full of happy bliss. “I wonder who the baby will look more like when they are born?”
“Either is fine,” Zheng Tingyang replied.
His relationship with his parents was shallow as he grew up an orphan; his expectations for this child were not particularly high. He had originally thought he would be alone for the rest of his life.
Zheng Tingyang even felt a bit base at times; he did not actually like children. However, he was grateful that he and Yu Yan had a child after just one night. Yet, at other times, he felt the child made Yu Yan uncomfortable. The thought that a little child would eventually steal Yu Yan’s attention away while he himself had no way to compete for it made him slightly troubled.
After finishing the 4D ultrasound, Yu Yan put his clothes back on. His lower abdomen felt cold for a moment.
“This medicine is a hormone, but it is not harmful to the body. It can fill the gap of missing pheromones during your pregnancy and promote the gland to secrete pheromones to help the fetus grow. The only drawback is drowsiness, and it can also trigger heat. Take some during your next cycle.”
The doctor prescribed the medicine. Yu Yan looked at the small tablets inside and felt they looked somewhat familiar. They were pinkish, just like the vitamins he had taken before.
After the test results came out, the doctor needed to confirm the approximate surgery time with the family. Male Omegas usually undergo surgery at around eight months. Yu Yan obediently followed the nurse to another room to rest for a while, leaving Zheng Tingyang and the doctor to set the date.
Once Yu Yan left and the door closed, Zhou Jiangru clicked her tongue and threw the medical file directly at him. “Director Zheng, you asked me to prescribe pheromone-promoting tablets for you long ago. You drug him into a daze every day, yet you haven’t touched him once in these past two months?”
Zheng Tingyang’s sharp gaze swept over as he folded Yu Yan’s coat.
“You are truly something. If a wife like that acted spoiled with me just once, I would not be able to stand it.”
Zheng Tingyang had prescribed the medicine through her long ago. Yu Yan’s drowsiness after marriage was due to the effect of the pheromone-promoting tablets in his nightly milk.
Yet, after Yu Yan fell asleep, Zheng Tingyang never touched him. At most, he only used “Little Fish’s” hand. While the boy was asleep, he would touch his pregnant belly and give him a kiss; that was all. The doctor could tell at a glance that the reproductive chamber had never been opened.
Zhou Jiangru asked, “What are you hesitating for? I can see he does not exactly reject you. If my wife were pregnant and rubbing against me, wanting to be close… tsk!”
“I am afraid he won’t like it,” Zheng Tingyang said.
Zhou Jiangru scanned Zheng Tingyang from head to toe in confusion. In terms of both height and appearance, Zheng Tingyang did not look like a Beta. He had worked manual labor at the docks in his early years; his physical strength was excellent and his muscles were firm and upright. His body, overflowing with wild pheromones, was no different from a walking clothes rack or a textbook sculpture.
But he believed the wife he brought home was the best in the world. He did not want Yu Yan to feel wronged. Since he had no pheromones to soothe him, he naturally wanted to make it up to him in other ways.
Zhou Jiangru suddenly realized what he meant by “not liking it.” “Are you talking about the beads you had surgically implanted inside? I heard from Jing Chen that you put in three rows!”
She scratched her head and suddenly stood up, measuring Yu Yan’s height in her mind. An Omega’s frame is small. In her eyes, Zheng Tingyang’s palm was probably about the same size as Yu Yan’s waist; even with the pregnancy, the boy’s size could not compare to a man like him.
It was clearly the little guy who was pregnant, yet Zheng Tingyang was the one lacking confidence. Afraid of mistreating the boy, he had found his own solution: Pearling.
He had three rows of pearls implanted. Initially, Zheng Tingyang didn’t know the effect. In his early years doing business with Director Pei in the capital, he had visited nightclubs where Alphas who sought to please and flatter wealthy patrons would undergo this surgery. Some Alphas even used the procedure to make an Omega so happy that they rose to power as a kept man.
He simply wanted Yu Yan to be more comfortable. While others only put in one row, he put in three.
When the two first registered their marriage, he had stayed at the office for a few days to recover from the surgery. However, every time he went home, the stitches would burst. While others healed in a week, he dragged it out for a month with repeated ruptures.
He had just healed this month. Yu Yan was at his mercy while asleep, but he did not want to scare him. He realized the surgical effect was even better than he had imagined. Yu Yan’s frame was small; during their first night when Yu Yan was in heat, he had trembled with pain. He was delicate and very afraid of it.
Now, he was afraid of breaking his Little Fish.
Will he like it? Zheng Tingyang had this question in his heart. He didn’t dare try, afraid of scaring the little treasure he had finally tricked into coming home.
He could not stand to see Yu Yan cry, but his heart was burning with desire, wanting to devour him at any moment. The two thoughts clashed violently in his mind, causing several near-losses of control. Zheng Tingyang could only be a coward behind the mirror, peering at him through that one-way glass that Yu Yan did not know about.
“If Director Zheng were this cowardly in business, I doubt he would have reached the position of CEO,” Zhou Jiangru laughed until she couldn’t stop. She couldn’t help but marvel that love was such a mystery, capable of making the omnipotent Director Zheng feel timid.
Zheng Tingyang just wanted his wife to be less uncomfortable during his heat. What was wrong with that? Who could have guessed the surgical results would be so… exaggerated?
In the small room, Yu Yan naturally had no idea what was happening outside. He only knew that when Zheng Tingyang came to fetch him and dress him, the man’s expression was not very good, the same look he had when the first doctor asked if he was “incompetent.”
While Zheng Tingyang was tying his scarf, Yu Yan clutched the medicine in his hand and couldn’t help but take a step forward. The down jacket pushed out by his belly brushed against the man’s trench coat. His heart beat unusually fast.
He bit his lip and asked in a small voice, “Tingyang?”
“Hmm?” The man focused on tying the scarf, his voice deep.
Yu Yan said honestly, “I asked the nurse sister just now. She said this medicine is very good for me. It will make me fall asleep, so even if it hurts, I will not struggle or run or cry. Should we… during the next heat cycle, try it?”
Zheng Tingyang’s hand paused, a faint light flickering in his eyes. “Are you sure?”
