This Crown Prince is Ascending the Throne in the Entertainment Industry - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
The man pressed his hand against the dictionary, fire practically ready to spew from his eyes: “If it wasn’t torn by you, why were you standing here letting them bully you! Are you perhaps sick in the head?!”
This time, Xiang Xu’s eyes went wide, and he was completely stupefied.
After a long while, he figured it out—it turned out this person was helping him, even though his tone was malicious and he even cursed him as being sick in the head.
However, his posture was extremely sufficient, carrying an aura of refusing to give up until innocence was restored to him, which counted as putting some backbone into Xiang Xu.
That’s right, he hadn’t done a single bad thing! Why on earth was he feeling faint-hearted!
Xiang Xu immediately straightened his spine, turned his face, and glared furiously at Xiao Zhou.
“He tore it? Truly fucking shameless!” The man retorted sarcastically.
Shameless!
Xiang Xu followed along and cursed in his heart, puffing out his chest with a face entirely full of non-submission.
“N-No… Sir, how can you groundlessly wrong someone!” Xiao Zhou’s face instantly flushed crimson. Straining to conceal his faint-heartedness, he argued loudly.
The cashier young lady looked a bit bewildered, but she still tried to dissuade the masked man: “Um… Sir, have you perhaps misunderstood something, or do you happen to know this gentleman?”
“I don’t know him, but so what?! Does that obstruct me from administering justice? Or are you guys going to shield this scum who goes so far as to trap and cheat even a disabled person all the way to the end! Opening a bookstore without a conscience is simply an insult to knowledge!”
It is simply a desecration of knowledge!
Xiang Xu repeated the text in his heart with righteous indignation.
Everyone’s gazes cast toward Xiao Zhou. Even his colleagues’ looks became full of deep meaning.
“No, it’s not! The cover was torn open by him, he is intentionally trying to push the responsibility onto me!”
Xiao Zhou extended a finger, pointing at Xiang Xu.
Seeing that face of his that was vexed to the point of anger, Xiang Xu intensely wanted to rush up and bite his finger.
“—Too trash.” The tall man cut off Xiao Zhou’s argument with a heavy voice, “Just thinking about breathing the same air as a trash person like you makes my precious body about to get sick.”
After he finished speaking, he weakly pressed the space between his brows: “Clearly possessing countless opportunities to regret, yet still stubbornly executing one’s own mistake all the way to the end, you guys, these… poverty-stricken and barren people…”
This time Xiang Xu didn’t repeat his words in his heart. Although the opposing party’s curses flowed with witty remarks, he felt that he himself had also suffered an attack.
“Who… Who are you calling…!”
“Calling you won’t awaken your conscience either, since you don’t possess this kind of thing anyway.” The man exhaled a breath, pointing at the surveillance camera beside the cashier desk.
“Technology has clearly developed to this day and already possesses many methods of verification, yet you people still judge a person’s good or bad based purely on one-sided words. To be stupid to this extent, compulsory education was popularized in vain.”
Xiang Xu followed his finger to look toward that object on the ceiling whose body was white yet carried a pitch-black round ball. He was somewhat blank, not knowing what kind of gadget this was.
When he shifted his gaze down, however, he watched the faces of these surrounding individuals turn green and white by turns, wearing expressions of having suffered an insult yet daring to feel angry but not daring to speak out. The cashier young lady’s expression was very poor, yet her hands had already begun searching beside another computer at the front desk.
This thing looks quite similar to that thing at home…
Xiang Xu seriously and carefully observed her movements, but suddenly detected a gaze. He couldn’t resist lifting his head, casting a puzzled glance at the man standing there sizing him up.
Seeing his gaze returning the respect, the man didn’t evade either, instead speaking in a voice that was just loud enough for him to hear: “Fearsomely, he’s still a brain-dead.”
Xiang Xu’s face sank. Based on the fact that the opposing party had been helping him all along, he turned his face away, and continue to observe the cashier young lady’s flurry of mouse and keyboard operations.
“Able to understand human speech, then that’s slightly better, perhaps he’s merely a bit feeble-minded.”
To make matters worse, that person was still saying bad words about him by his ear.
The cashier young lady’s hand moving the mouse came to a halt. Staring at the screen for a while, her face then grew more and more pale.
She shifted her gaze, casting a somewhat pitiful glance at Xiang Xu, and then looked toward her own colleagues at a loss for what to do: “It t-truly is Xiao Zhou…”
Everyone’s expressions were as poor-looking as a ragged cloth, Xiao Zhou especially. He let out a startled cry, running toward the breakroom to hide himself. A few service staff members were also embarrassed to death. Seeing the chief culprit run away, they immediately went to chase him.
“Like I said, clearly possessing countless opportunities to regret yet still insisting on walking the dark path all the way to the end, it just happens that you guys are also some blind fools.” The tall man still had to add a finishing blow.
The other colleagues had all run away. Only the cashier young lady was left behind to face the sudden wind and torrential rain before her eyes. She was practically on the verge of tears, yet she still had to face these two jackals and wolves before her eyes.
Xiang Xu looked at her with clear eyes, shaking his head at her, meaning that he didn’t blame her.
A surge of emotion instantly welled up within the cashier young lady’s heart. This little brother with the pageboy haircut truly was a considerate, good child. She cautiously lifted her head again to check the expression of the other man.
His gaze stared down at her from above; even while wearing a mask, one could sense his face that looked ready to eat people.
“Ap-Ap-Ap-Ap… Apologies, sir, this is our responsibility…”
“You still know it’s your responsibility?”
A feather-light counter-question caused the cashier’s heart to tighten even further.
“Ca-Ca-Ca-Causing you guys to have a poor shopping experience, truly…”
“—Truly your capability!”
The cashier young lady didn’t dare to speak anymore. This gentleman’s aura was originally more sufficient than an ordinary person’s. Now that he occupied the right side of the argument, his coercion was even more pressuring, making people’s breathing un-fluid.
Right at the moment when it was difficult to back down, she watched that little brother with the pageboy haircut block himself before that man’s gaze that was almost ready to eat people, shaking his head vigorously at him.
“I am helping you, what do you mean?!”
Xiang Xu still shook his head at him, and his gaze even became somewhat displeased.
The man let out a dissatisfied sigh, and then closed his mouth and spoke no more.
The tense air obtained some relief. Xiang Xu turned his face back, and the cashier young lady, as though grabbing onto a life-saving straw, immediately chimed in with a flying speed of speech:
“Bringing a poor shopping experience to the two gentlemen we express our deep apologies consequently the books of the two gentlemen we will provide them for free furthermore we offer the coupons of this shop although knowing this also cannot cancel out the disturbance brought to the two gentlemen but still hope the two gentlemen can accept our sentiment…”
At the critical moment, the employee handbook she had memorized came into play after all. She swiftly stuffed a few of the bookstore’s cash coupons into Xiang Xu’s hand, and then ducked behind the computer to process their refunds.
“Wait a moment.” The man’s sullen voice interrupted the cashier’s smooth operation. She lifted her face, working hard to maintain a smile: “S… Sir, what other instructions do you have.”
“No refunds allowed.”
“…Ah?”
“The moment you refund, it makes it look as though I specially administered justice for the sake of getting a free order.”
“…?”
“I do not permit the occurrence of any possibility that might damage my reputation!”
“That… Sir, this matter is our responsibility, this is beyond doubt…”
“What do I care about you, who knows what you guys will think of me behind my back.”
“Uh…”
Xiang Xu, who was on the side just stuffing the cash coupons into his pocket, was left as speechless as the cashier young lady upon hearing the words of dispute over here.
This man spoke so unpleasantly that who knows how many people he could offend, yet he was actually afraid of other people gossiping about him behind his back.
Even if it was like this, why take issue with money? This reference tool book of his alone was over two hundred yuan, and he had bought a whole stack like this. If he had agreed to the free order, who knows how much he could have saved.
“I am not short of this bit of money, if you refund the money, I will report you guys!”
Hearing the opposing party viciously utter the word “report,” the cashier instantly suffered PTSD, immediately pulling out a bag to swiftly pack the books on the desk.
“Understood, understood, sir, please wait a moment…”
She used the fastest hand speed of her life to pack the books well, offering them to this massive deity with both hands.
“Sir, take care on your way out, welcome to come… again… next time…”
The man took the bag, cast a cold glance at her, and then took two steps toward the exit.
Taking two steps, yet seeing Xiang Xu still standing foolishly in his original place, he walked over and pushed him unceremoniously.
Having been pushed, Xiang Xu lifted his eyes in puzzle, only to see this tall man indicating with a threatening gaze for him to walk out together as well.
What does he mean?
He couldn’t make heads or tails of it all at once, yet seeing that the cashier young lady was still looking at him with a face full of pleading, he had no choice but to walk out of the bookstore along with the man under the cashier’s grateful gaze.
Blankly following the man for a few steps, Xiang Xu stood still and stopped moving.
The moment he stopped moving, the man ahead stopped as well, turning his body around, and instead walked toward him.
Advancing toward him with such a deterrent force, Xiang Xu stood there without moving a muscle, looking at the opposing party in puzzle.
Only to see him take a green book out of the bag and throw it over.
Xiang Xu stood without moving. That book fell onto the ground, producing quite a loud noise.
The man’s face instantly became furious. He walked over in a few steps, bent down to pick up the book, and shoved it against Xiang Xu’s chest.
Xiang Xu caught the book, only now comprehending that it turned out the opposing party wanted to give the book to him. With the opposing party’s posture just now, he had thought he was going to smash him with the book. He had roughly judged that it wouldn’t hit him, which was why he didn’t move a muscle.
Yet he watched that after the man gave him the book, he turned his face away, refusing to look at him.
“This book is too low, I command you to take it and vanish before my eyes.”
Xiang Xu didn’t know what “low” meant in his speech, nor did he quite understand what he wanted to do by saying these words, consequently he merely stood there holding the book.
“Hey! Can you not understand human speech? I told you to take the book and roll!”
Xiang Xu understood this time, but his face sank.
Telling this Crown Prince to roll, what kind of green onion does this person think he is!
But based on the fact that the opposing party had helped him just now, and based on his own lack of language fluency, Xiang Xu had no choice but to swallow this breath. Turning his face, he let out a nod, and then turned his body away.
At the same time as he turned his body away, Xiang Xu heard his own stomach let out a fearsomely loud growl. Only then did he remember that he hadn’t eaten a single thing from last night until today. A powerful wave of hunger attacked him all at once, yet he still stepped out with his feet to walk forward.
“Stop!”
The person behind suddenly called out to him again.
The good-tempered Xiang Xu had no choice but to halt his steps, turning his body around, not knowing what kind of preposterous instruction this man possessed now.
“I just helped you, shouldn’t you thank me? As a reward, you must serve me for a meal!”
Xiang Xu truly was a bit unable to hold back anymore. Although he was very grateful that the opposing party had helped him, serving him for a meal—wasn’t that using him, the Crown Prince, like a eunuch!
What’s more, helping others is a good heart; demanding a reward for helping others is possessing an ulterior motive! He had originally felt that although this person spoke unpleasantly, what he performed was justice and he ought to be a good person. Looking at it now, he was clearly merely tyrannical and willful!
However, where Xiang Xu suffered a loss was that he, a dignified Crown Prince, didn’t like to owe people favors.
His imperial father had said that he would rather everyone owe him favors than let himself owe other people favors. Once a favor is owed, one doesn’t know how big of a price must be paid to repay it.
Serving him for a meal, is it? I endure!
