This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 92
Night fell.
The bedroom door was softly pushed open, and a tall silhouette stretched across the floor, elongated by the light of the wall lamp. His entry was very quiet, unwilling to wake the sleeping Omega in the bed. He first walked to the closet to get clothes, planning to take a shower before holding his loved one.
As he was getting his clothes, he noticed that his closet was filled with the Omega’s pheromone scent.
Lù Xīnghè held the homewear in his hand and lowered his head to sniff it. His eyes felt warm. Had this guy been practically living in his clothes these past few days? The pheromone scent was so strong. He grabbed the clothes and quickly walked to the adjacent bathroom.
Ten minutes later, he was clean and returned to the bedroom.
Duàn Yǔluò was half-asleep. He had vaguely heard the movement, but he was too tired today. Figuring that whoever came in could only be his two nagging siblings, his brother and sister, he ignored it.
It wasn’t until the bed sank in from an external force, accompanied by a settling sensation, the blanket was slightly lifted, and his back was pressed against a broad, hot chest. The Alpha’s Lam’s Gin pheromones swept past his nose and then enveloped his body completely.
His body woke up faster than his mind. He subconsciously turned over and buried his face into the chest.
It wasn’t until the tip of his nose pressed against the hard chest that he rubbed it and slowly opened his sleepy eyes.
Duàn Yǔluò stared blankly at the chest inches away. He touched it with his hand, then looked up slightly, directly meeting a pair of deep blue, tender eyes. The sleepiness in his eyes vanished instantly, and tears welled up immediately.
He raised his hand to touch Lù Xīnghè’s face. Just as he was about to speak, his wrist was grasped, and the nape of his neck was cradled by a palm, tilting his face up. The shadow of Lù Xīnghè’s face fell over his, and after a gentle brush of a fingertip over his lips, a kiss descended.
The kiss was gentler than any before.
Even though his mind was still foggy, he yielded and accommodated the other person before he could register any shyness.
The large hand gripping his wrist was hot. This hand followed his wrist, raising his hand above his head, where their fingers intertwined.
Eight days of separation—it seemed this wasn’t enough.
The room was silent. They could clearly hear each other’s sounds—the rustling of clothes and bedding. Both their breathing and other sounds were touching each other’s nerves.
After a long time, the kiss stopped.
They rested their foreheads together, catching their breath, gazing deeply into each other’s eyes under the overhead light. The warmth of the emotions in their eyes, the feeling that they were merging into each other’s blood, felt hot enough to melt the blankets.
“Why did you come back so suddenly?” Duàn Yǔluò chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around the other’s neck.
“If I didn’t come back, I was afraid you’d cry in the middle of the night holding my clothes in my closet,” Lù Xīnghè listened to the slightly breathless voice near his ear, turned his face, and kissed the pale arm hugging his neck. Seeing the sweat beading on Duàn Yǔluò’s forehead, he reached out and threw off the blanket.
Seeing this, Duàn Yǔluò immediately scrambled onto Lù Xīnghè’s body.
But Lù Xīnghè quickly caught him and lifted him up.
“You can’t lie on your stomach right now; you’ll press the baby.” Lù Xīnghè sat up, leaning against the headboard, and settled him on his lap. He supported his waist with both hands. The waist under his palms had become slightly more rounded. He reached out and pinched Duàn Yǔluò’s chin: “You’ve lost weight. You haven’t been eating properly, have you?”
When he received the news that Duàn Yǔluò had fainted, his legs felt weak. He had rushed back overnight, leaving the remaining matters to his parents to resolve.
Duàn Yǔluò scooted forward, hugging Lù Xīnghè and clinging to him. He buried his face in his shoulder and chuckled in a muffled voice: “Why did you come back so suddenly? You said two more days?”
…He wasn’t dreaming. Lù Xīnghè had suddenly returned.
“Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere today?”
Hearing the question, Duàn Yǔluò’s expression faltered for a moment, then he calmly shook his head: “No, I’m fine.”
“Are you really fine?” Lù Xīnghè asked.
Duàn Yǔluò felt the hand gripping his hip was exerting a little pressure, like a warning. His brow drooped, and he stared at Lù Xīnghè: “You pinched me.”
Lù Xīnghè’s heart softened at the tone. He let go of his hand: “Are you sure you didn’t feel unwell today?”
Duàn Yǔluò wondered, This Alpha couldn’t possibly know about him fainting from low blood sugar, could he? Did his brother or sister tell him?
He feigned calmness: “No, I’m great.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Lù Xīnghè grabbed his nape, lowered his head, and bit him.
He truly did bite, but not very hard. With his lips and teeth clamping down on his neck, Duàn Yǔluò could feel the suction force, carrying a deliberate, irresistible sense of punishment. His lower back instantly went numb.
His whole body went soft. He leaned forward to hug Lù Xīnghè’s head, his ears instantly turning red: “…Stop biting. It’ll show here.”
Lù Xīnghè let go, gazing at the slight red mark he had bitten out. He used his fingertip to wipe away the sweat running down Duàn Yǔluò’s temple, urging him to stop hugging him and sit properly.
Seeing Lù Xīnghè pull his arms away, Duàn Yǔluò hugged him again.
He was pulled away again.
He frowned unhappily, slapping Lù Xīnghè’s chest in annoyance: “Why won’t you let me hug you?”
“Because you lied.”
Duàn Yǔluò’s eyes flickered, and he suddenly felt a pang of guilt. No way, did Lù Xīnghè really find out? He quietly suppressed his temper, withdrew the hands that had been hitting Lù Xīnghè, and scooted back. Lù Xīnghè then gripped the back of his neck and pulled him close.
The distance between them instantly narrowed to one finger’s width from their lips.
“Why didn’t you tell me you fainted from low blood sugar today?”
The Alpha’s low voice sounded close to his ear.
Duàn Yǔluò lowered his head, but Lù Xīnghè held his nape, forcing him to look up. He stared in shock into the deep, close-up gaze. Although the action wasn’t forceful, the move was somewhat… fierce.
He knitted his brows. Instead of answering Lù Xīnghè, he just stared at him.
Lù Xīnghè knew this temperamental darling was angry from that stare. He could only hug him into his arms to coax him, only to be pushed away abruptly. He was stunned.
“It’s bad enough you’ve been gone for so long, and now you dare to be fierce with me,” Duàn Yǔluò grumbled. He rolled out of bed, feeling increasingly wronged as he thought about it, and started to walk out: “Now you won’t even let me hug you. You sleep by yourself. I’ve gotten used to sleeping alone these past few days.”
Lù Xīnghè knew he was in trouble. He quickly followed him out of bed, went up, and pulled Duàn Yǔluò’s arm, hugging him from behind: “I wasn’t being fierce with you. I was just scared, that’s why I rushed back. Don’t be mad first.”
Duàn Yǔluò stood still, looked back at him, and said: “So if you weren’t scared, you wouldn’t have come back?”
Lù Xīnghè chuckled: “How could that be? I wished I could have finished everything quickly and returned.”
“Then can you stay now?”
Lù Xīnghè turned Duàn Yǔluò to face him and lowered his head to coax him: “How could I not stay? If I don’t come back now, you won’t want me anymore.”
“So you did know,” Duàn Yǔluò said softly: “I thought you didn’t know that I was forcing a smile during our chats these past few days.”
Lù Xīnghè naturally knew. He knew how easily Duàn Yǔluò cried and how sensitive he was after getting pregnant. He pulled him into his arms and gently patted the back of his head: “I won’t leave again. I’m back.”
“You’re sure?”
“I promise.”
Only then was Lù Xīnghè allowed to take him back to bed and try to coax him to sleep.
However, this darling seemed to have no intention of sleeping. He flipped over and sat on his lap again. Lù Xīnghè naturally indulged him, leaning against the headboard and making sure he was seated comfortably.
“I had low blood sugar today mainly because I didn’t eat breakfast properly.”
“You know you don’t eat breakfast properly. You can’t do that again. Don’t hide things from me, and don’t think it will distract me. Nothing is more important than you. From now on, you must tell me immediately when you feel unwell.”
“If I tell you, can you rush back? That seems like I’d be lacking in judgment.”
“To me, you are the most important thing. Nothing is more important than you. Don’t scare me like that again, understand?”
“I understand.”
“That way, the little baby will know Papa is being good. If you’re uncomfortable, the baby will be uncomfortable too.”
“Now that you’re back, can your parents handle things there?”
“There are no big problems left.”
“Really?”
“Really.” Lù Xīnghè looked at Duàn Yǔluò sitting on his lap, steadying his arms: “Let me see if the little baby has grown.”
Duàn Yǔluò lifted the clothing from his lower abdomen, revealing his pale belly.
Since becoming pregnant, the faint, flat lines had been filled out by roundness. The belly was slightly larger than it was two weeks ago, but it wasn’t very obvious.
“It’s a little bit bigger,” Duàn Yǔluò spread his legs, lifted his hips, and knelt up: “Want a kiss?”
Lù Xīnghè lowered his head and placed a devoted yet fervent kiss on the pregnant belly. He rubbed his nose against it, his mood instantly softening completely. He then looked up at Duàn Yǔluò, his eyes deep: “Bǎobǎo, do you want to?”
Duàn Yǔluò’s eyes flickered, his ears turning pink: “Is that allowed?”
“I leave it to you. The moment you say stop, I’ll stop.”
Hearing that he would be in charge, Duàn Yǔluò was naturally excited: “Okay.”
After all, opportunities to ride Lù Xīnghè didn’t come often.
He had never successfully ridden him steadily before.
Lù Xīnghè thought, How obedient is my wife? This is all it takes to make him happy.
…
The next day.
Luo Yǔduàn and Duàn Yǐkuí looked at the lavish breakfast spread, and then watched Lù Xīnghè bring out the final dish, lemon noodles. They spontaneously and sincerely applauded.
“Congratulations on successfully infiltrating our family and becoming another Alpha in the Chǔ-Luò family who can cook,” Duàn Yǐkuí remarked, watching Duàn Yǔluò voraciously enjoying the bowl of lemon noodles. She was emotional: “Sure enough, he only eats when Brother Xīnghè is back. You don’t know what my Second Brother has been like these past few days—”
Before she could finish, her toes were warned by a suppressive stomp.
Duàn Yǔluò smiled.
Lù Xīnghè brewed the lemon herbal tea, placed the cup in front of Duàn Yǔluò, and sat down beside him: “What has he been like these past few days?”
“He’s been fine. Eating well, drinking well, and sleeping well,” Luo Yǔduàn tasted Lù Xīnghè’s cooking: “It’s quite good.”
Hearing his brother praise Lù Xīnghè, Duàn Yǔluò lifted his head from his noodles: “Compared to you, yes.”
Luo Yǔduàn was speechless: “…You don’t have to be so dismissive of me.” Then he said to Lù Xīnghè: “When you have time, teach me a couple of dishes so I can at least be presentable.”
“Have you really been eating and sleeping properly these past few days?” Lù Xīnghè sat sideways, looking at Duàn Yǔluò as if he hadn’t eaten in days. Considering the message he received, he knew he still had to ask:
“Then what about fainting from low blood sugar?”
“Cough, cough, cough—” Duàn Yǔluò was caught off guard and choked, coughing so hard he nearly dropped his chopsticks.
Lù Xīnghè quickly rubbed his back, seeing his face turn red from coughing. He wasn’t sure if it was from guilt or genuinely choking, but his eyes were filled with helplessness: “Why didn’t you tell me?”
He picked up the lemon herbal tea next to him and gave it to Duàn Yǔluò.
Duàn Yǔluò took a sip of the tea, cautiously glanced at him: “I didn’t say anything because I was afraid you’d get distracted.”
“What would distract me? My heart is all here with you; how could I be distracted?”
The two single siblings across the table: “…” We want to leave.
Duàn Yǔluò’s lips curled up. He was delighted by the words and lowered his head to continue eating his noodles.
Duàn Yǐkuí looked at her Second Brother, who looked rosy-cheeked and rejuvenated, and found it hard to compare him with the Omega who was crying one moment and laughing the next a few days prior. She nudged her older brother with her elbow: “Look at Second Brother. A word from Brother Xīnghè is like he took a rejuvenation [pill], he’s alive again.”
Luo Yǔduàn could see it clearly. He glanced at his sister: “This just shows that the two of us were useless. After taking care of him for days, there’s not a single word of thanks. Who was it who stayed up with him and chatted every morning at dawn?”
Duàn Yǐkuí held her face, feigning weakness: “Exactly, exactly! I’m haggard.”
Lù Xīnghè smiled down: “What do you two want to do, where do you want to go, and what do you want to buy next? I’m covering everything. Thank you for taking care of him.”
Duàn Yǐkuí’s eyes lit up: “Then I’m going to sweep the bag stores! I’m very fierce when I shop.”
Luo Yǔduàn coughed: “My request isn’t high. Just a Jaguar 930, with a starlight headliner.”
Duàn Yǔluò held his bowl, quietly looking at his brother, a half-smile on his face: “Four-million-dollar supercar isn’t a high request? You’re making Lù Xīnghè look stupid.”
“It’s fine, I’ll buy it,” Lù Xīnghè picked up his phone, stood up, and went to make a call.
The three people at the dining table collectively looked at the Alpha standing by the rear garden’s floor-to-ceiling window, making a call. They heard him casually order a top-tier supercar worth forty million, fully loaded with high-spec features, plus the starlight headliner.
He then instructed the person on the other end of the phone to reserve all the luxury brand stores in the city, sounding as if he was going to empty the entire city’s stock of luxury bags.
Duàn Yǐkuí’s mouth hung open: “…Second Brother, your husband is so crazy.” Although their own family was well-off, their level of extravagance was nothing compared to Lù Xīnghè’s.
Duàn Yǔluò was used to Lù Xīnghè’s spending and could only smile without commenting.
Lù Xīnghè hung up the phone and sat back down, placing his phone beside him. He looked at Duàn Yǐkuí: “We’ll go sweep up the bags you want later. If they don’t have them here, I’ll have them transferred.”
Duàn Yǐkuí was practically in tears. She immediately changed her address: “Brother-in-law, you are too handsome.”
Luo Yǔduàn also immediately changed his address: “Brother-in-law, you are very excellent.”
Duàn Yǔluò: “…” These two are easily persuaded.
“I’ve had the entire top floor of the Komanking Hotel converted into a postpartum care center. We’ll move in there when the time comes.” Lù Xīnghè noticed Duàn Yǔluò still had a few bites of noodles left in his bowl. Knowing he couldn’t finish it, he took the bowl and finished it himself: “After the prenatal check-up this afternoon, let’s go look at clothes for the baby.”
Remembering his spending habits, Duàn Yǔluò grabbed his arm: “That’s fine, but you absolutely cannot buy everything in the store. There’s no need.”
“Okay,” Lù Xīnghè nodded earnestly.
The facts proved that was impossible.
The three siblings stood to the side, watching Lù Xīnghè immerse himself in picking out clothes for the baby in the store. He pointed and instructed the sales assistants to bring items, looking less like a shopper and more like a wholesaler.
“Second Brother, is your husband really not going to go bankrupt spending money like this?”
“I want to ask that too.”
Duàn Yǔluò thought, I want to ask that, too. Why did he seem even more exaggerated after a trip to Country D? While it wasn’t that they couldn’t buy things, the extent of this shopping spree was something that seemed ridiculous even to him.
Finally, he couldn’t hold back and went up to grab Lù Xīnghè.
“That’s too much. The baby won’t be able to wear that many clothes. Didn’t you get a lot from Grandpa already?”
“It’s different. What I buy is different from what Grandpa buys,” Lù Xīnghè put his arm around Duàn Yǔluò’s shoulder and pointed at the princess dress on the wall: “How about this one?”
Duàn Yǔluò was helpless. He pressed down on Lù Xīnghè’s hand, which was eagerly reaching out again: “It’s not good.”
“I think my daughter will like it,” Lù Xīnghè instructed the sales assistant to take it down.
Duàn Yǔluò: “…What if it’s not a daughter?”
“He can wear it too. Maybe he’ll like it.”
Duàn Yǔluò put his hand to his forehead, feeling a headache coming on.
In the end, he couldn’t stop the crazy Alpha. The children’s room at home was once again filled, and the two-story closet was entirely filled with girls’ clothes—enough to last two lifetimes.
